SNIPPETS ABOUT THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
[Chapter ?]
James followed him through the streets of Shipwreck City and managed to catch his wrist by pure luck on the last second.
"Jack, wait! I know you're angry and you have every reason to be, but be logical!" he said.
Jack sighed, but James could feel him trembling; if it was of fury or fear, he couldn't know.
James looked at him straight in the eye "Jack…" he tried to talk.
"I'm tired, James." he admitted, interrupting, and he sounded a bit defeated as well as bitter. It was a strange sight and it didn't go well with the famous Jack Sparrow "Everywhere I go, I'm used or betrayed, if it's not both. First Beckett, then Barbossa, William…"
"You're right." James admitted "It's not fair and I would be mad too. But Jack, even if right now the pirates in this island have been pardoned, and are being protected as long as they don't attack English, they don't have that mark." he pointed to the 'P' on his right wrist "If you turn your back now, you would be persecuted everywhere and would face the noose."
"That is new." Jack snorted.
"Please, Jack… If they catch you-" James tried.
"If." he indicated.
"If they catch you, they'll take you most possibly to Port Royal." James continued talking, even if the other had interrupted him "Please, don't make me hang you. I wouldn't be able to bear it."
"James…" Jack sighed.
"I know you hate it and I'm probably asking too much… Obviously I'm not asking you to trust the governor… Hell, it's not like I even trust him." James snorted to himself "And I know that you want to get this for Elizabeth and you can trust me that I would do everything in my power to get that goal, Jack. You can trust me on that."
"I know I can trust you, Jamie. But I'm not sure about what you're asking of me. What do you expect me to do, if he has asked for the Fountain for the lovely king of mother England?"
"Don't you see? he stated "He has only said to find it and if you, or Elizabeth, wants to use it before 'delivering' the place to the king… There's no way to know it, right?" James raised an eyebrow, shrugging.
"Well, yes, you're right on that, but…"
"Then let's join forces, Jack. We'll figure something to keep this a secret; we've done it before with other things and this is no different. I know we can manage." he interrupted.
Jack let out a breath and shook his head "How is it that, despite our past, I still trust you more than I've trusted anyone else?" James smiled at that and Jack sighed "Fine. Let's go to my cabin. I'll show you the map."
"Thank you, Jack." he smiled again, as if relieved "I know this is hard for you."
"You have no idea…" he mentioned, his eyes twinkling.
[Chapter ?]
It was supposed to be a one-time thing. Or at least, Elizabeth had chastised herself enough times to say that it shouldn't happen another time. But, she supposed she just wasn't a good wife… Or a good person.
It wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't because Will wasn't there… She still loved him and wanted him to meet Henry, who had been the only line she had grasped for herself to keep thinking of Will for almost three whole years.
"No…" she shook her head "We can't keep doing this."
"All evidence to the contrary, darlin'."
"Jack… The first time we were a bit less sober and though it doesn't make it any difference, I did say that it was a one-time thing. No repeats." She warned.
"Who said anything of repeatin'?" he smiled with that knowing glint in his eyes.
"Jack…" she said, sternly.
"Lizzie." He said softly, brushing her braid to a side carefully and she bit her lip "Ye can keep lyin' to yerself but ye say somethin' that it's quite true… Calypso made ye that deal knowin' already that ye would lose… And it's not like ye love me, do ye?"
Elizabeth sighed "Maybe not to that same degree, Jack… But I would be lying if I said that I feel only friendship with you. I don't even know how to describe our relationship right now!" she said frustrated "Jack… I'm supposed to love only Will. What's wrong with me?"
Jack smiled a bit, bitterly, and shook his head "There's nothin' wrong with ye, Lizzie… Ye are allowed to feel the way ye feel about anyone because they are yer feelings and tryin' to stop them isn't goin' to help at all." He shrugged to himself as he took his coat off, leaving it on a chair and stepped on behind her, untying the lacing of her stays slowly "Ye are free of the society standards here in this island, Elizabeth…"
"But, why me, Jack?" she sighed as she let him take her stays in a chair "You could have any girl…"
"Well, for once, ye're cheaper and…" Jack started.
"Jack!" Elizabeth shouted, turning around, red-faced and angry.
"Ye haven't let me finished." He smirked as he interrupted her and she glared at him. He rolled his eyes "Lizzie… Ye're not only pretty. Ye're confident, smart, passionate, stubborn as hell, always quick to get angered, proud, always protectin' what ye believe in…" Elizabeth looked at him, surprised "Ye have no idea of yer own power… Ye're like a goddess, Elizabeth. Ye convinced practically a whole island filled with buccaneers, pirates and the like to support ye in unitin' with the English without takin' completely their freedom. Ye gave them a choice of redemption or a choice of leavin' the island quietly so to not condemn them directly to a hangin' and told them that ye wouldn't be able to protect them if they did a crime against the English. What more could I want in a woman?"
"Jack…"
"Don't get me wrong, luv. My first love is still the sea, followed closely by my beloved Pearl." He winked at that and Elizabeth shook her head, not even surprised "But… And this stays here… Ye are next, Lizzie. And that means that ye are the first person I've cared so much about which, believe me, it is worryin'."
Elizabeth smiled a bit at that, even as Jack started to take out his clothes faster. She bit her lip a little and started tugging at the dress to let it fall into the ground, with the chemise being the only layer protecting her from Jack's scorching gaze.
