Kaiju Fighters Ch. 40 New Year's Special Part 2
Gojira is standing in the corner alone, arms crossed, and even though no one can tell with his shades, eyes closed. He does not need to look around to know that the humans present are staring. His senses are detecting something off among them though.
He then senses Kimiko approaching him, "Not having fun?" she asks and receives a glance from the kaiju. "Me neither," the agent leans against the wall next to him. "Had a talk with Mosura. So far, It's not looking good."
"I'm sure we'll be fine if anything happens," he shrugs. "Most of us are either hunters or scavengers."
"I know," she gives him a sad smile. "It would just mean I wouldn't get to spend as much time with you," her eyes widened. "You, as in you guys!" she then covers her face. When she peeks between her fingers the woman notices that he is not paying attention to her. Gojira is just glancing around the room. She is familiar with this state as it is his hunting phase. "Goji," she whispers. "What's wrong?"
"Not sure," he searches the room. "Everyone here smells human, but there's some that are… off" Gojira then stares up at the tall tower in the middle of the room with a large ball attached to it. "I also don't like that."
"That? It's just a New Year's Ball. Some guy thought it be fun to use it here. When it starts to drop it signifies the countdown to the new year."
"Is it supposed to have an energy signature?" he starts walking towards it with Kimiko following him.
"What!?"
"What bothers me the most is that I'm not familiar with it."
Once they reach the tower, Gojira can feel that there is something pulsating from the bottom of it as well. He goes to touch it only to have someone grab his arm. The alpha kaiju looks up to see a blond man. The way he stands tells Gojira that he is a soldier. He is not fond of soldiers. The sight of him causes Gojira to instinctively let out a growl.
"What do you think you're bloody doing?" the man glares as he speaks with an accent.
Kimiko steps between them. "Agent Kimiko. We need to inspect this machine. It's urgent."
The man straightens up and salutes, which causes Gojira's growl to deepen. "Johnathan Jetson. Captain of A Squad for K.A.N.E!" he eases out of the salute. "If I may ask, why do you need to see the machine?"
Gojira reaches for a panel, "The machine does not smell right," and rips it off revealing a series of tubes with pulsating lights.
"What is that?" the soldier asks as he and Kimiko lean over to get a better look.
The kaiju king reaches for it and quickly removes his hand as it burned. His hand had burns for a moment before healing. "It's not natural, and definitely not Terran. Most likely extraterrestrial."
Kimiko raises her brow. "As in aliens? They're not real," and laughs for a moment.
Gojira turns to her, "Several of my enemies so happen to aliens. Ghidorah being one of them."
Both Kimiko and Jetson stare at him.
The soldier then sighs. "So, this comes down to your kind."
"Enough!" Gojira practically roars.
Kimiko places a hand on his arm in attempt to calm him down, "Goji?"
"I'm tired of getting blamed for everything that couldn't possibly be my fault. I never asked to be hatched, same as none of you asked to be born. You soldier's always aiming to eliminate anything that they don't like!" at this point, a crowd starts gathering around them.
"You have a problem with soldiers!?"
"Yes I do! When I was a hatchling, I had soldiers strap me down just so I can be poked and prodded! I may not even be here were it not for the kindness of a handful of humans. Even then, I continuedly had soldiers fire upon me just because I exist!" his breathing slows before walking away. "Whatever happens here, the blood would not be on my hands."
Kimiko rushes up to him and whispers. "Goji?"
"I think It's a bomb," he whispers back. "We should—"
The agent places a hand over his mouth and leads him out into the hallway. "Are you sure?"
"No, I can't be. But we can't risk that ball dropping before knowing exactly what it does."
She sighs and tells him, "We can't cause a panic on the possibility that it's not a bomb. We need to keep this quiet for now," then walks in. "If we want to find out what's going on, then we'll need to find out whose idea it was to have a New Year's Ball."
The two searched through the crowd and once Kimiko has sights on the Prime Minister, they approach him.
Kimiko calls out. "Prime Minister!"
He turns to see the two, "Ah! Agent Miyagi, Gojira. You caused quite the scene there. This could very well affect my decision."
"It's not about that," Kimiko interrupts him and takes a step closer step. "We suspect some hostile intentions in this room. We need to know who suggested the New Year's Ball."
He whispers back, "Do I need to be worried?"
"We don't want to cause a panic, Prime Minister, but it's probably best you leave as discreetly as possible."
"The owner of this hotel. In fact, he insisted that we have this party here."
"Thank you, Prime Minister," Kimiko bows before leaving.
One of the Prime Minister's security guards grabs his arm. "Prime Minister, We need to go."
He just waves him off. "As a leader, it is my duty to make sure no harm comes to my citizens. If the time comes to evacuate, I shall be the last out those doors."

Liz finds her husband standing alone looking like a grouch. That was not unusual for him. What is unusual is the fact that he refuses to meet her eyes. "Angy, why are you by your lonesome?"
He points up, "Varan's up there," the triphibious kaiju is on the balcony of one of the upper floors looking at the floors below him. "Rodan started flirting with some females before taking off after them. Not sure what happened with Gojira or Baragon," he still refused to make eye contact.
"Oh, Angy," she puts a finger under his chin to make him face her. "Why are you so grumpy today?"
His brows furrowed, "Aren't you embarrassed that your friends would see us?"
She was taken aback by that statement. "What are you talking about?"
"I heard that little chat you had with them."
"If that is true then you know that I never said anything bad about you and I did not go along when they laughed at you and your friends."
"You didn't defend me either," he growls before taking a deep breath. "Better calm down. Don't want to ruin my suit and embarrass you even more," and the spiked kaiju goes to leave the woman. He soon finds himself being tugged by his arm.
Liz brings him over to the women she was chatting with earlier. Before Anguirus could say anything, she pulls him into a deep passionate kiss before releasing him. "This, ladies…" she turns him to face the women, "…is my husband, Anguirus. He's not the most conventional, but he is loving and caring. He has also saved more lives than anyone in this room and I'll never be embarrassed by that."
The other women gawked at her before one of them asks. "How's he in the room?" and the others turned to her, not believing she would ask something so private.
Liz giggles before answering, "Wouldn't you like to know?" She leans closer to whisper, "Why don't you go book us a room and…?" whatever she said was too quiet to be heard by anyone except Anguirus and spikes suddenly ripped through his suit causing his wife to giggle even harder. He could not be gone fast enough.

Manda has just put on a robe after showering. She cannot believe that she rented a room just to prevent herself from drying out.
The sea dragon approaches a mirror and suddenly feels the need to splash her face. She has no idea what is more unbelievable, the fact that a human hit on her as Rodan would say or that she is actually considering spending the night with him.
After she puts her dress back on, Manda takes notice of the small bottles on the bathroom counter. Picking one up, the sea dragon finds that it is a moisturizer. "Might need this later," taking one last look in the mirror, she takes a deep breath before leaving the room.
As she walks down the hall she starts hearing the voice of the man from earlier. "Yeah, I'm going through with it," he laughs.
"Oh, man!" a new voice nearly shouts. "Here I thought I finally found a bet you would never take up, Koshiro. Let me know how she is."
Manda glances around the corner, she sees Koshiro with a group of men.
"The bet states that all I have to do is touch her horns. After that, I'm out of there."
"Did you really have to seduce her for that, though?"
"Apparently to touch them would be intimate," Koshiro adds air quotes. "You know that I'm willing to do anything to win."
"Still seems wrong. Even if she is a freak."
"What do you care? Just prepare to be a little poorer," he then feels a jab at his ribs from one of his friends. He turns to him and sees that they are looking behind him. Once he sees what they were staring at his eyes widen. "A-Amanda? How long have you been there?" sweat drops from his forehead.
"Long enough to hear every word," she growls as she raises her free hand. "And it's Manda!" creaks and humming can be heard from the walls. The group turns to a nearby drinking fountain that is now shaking. The fountain comes flying off as water flows out of the wall and rushes to the group. When the water stops the men look up to see that the kaiju is no longer there.
.oOo.
Manda had returned to the room and now leans against the balcony just outside. She just wants to be alone.
"Mandy?" Rodan's voice reaches his ears. Looking up, she sees that he is hovering just a few feet away from her holding a couple slips of paper. "Are you alright?" he notices that she has been crying.
"I'm in no mood for any more flirts or getting hit on," she quickly wipes the tears away and sits at one of the two chairs. "Jerks?" she mumbles.
The flyer lands on the balcony next to her. "the humans?"
"Males! Always wanting something. I remember this other sea dragon who insisted that I mate with him as it was our duty being the only ones of our kind," she laughs. "I actually considered his offer."
Rodan looks at the papers in his hands, one of which shows a phone number. He somehow managed to get not one but three girls' numbers. He sighs before tearing them up and throwing them off the balcony.
Manda watches them get blown away in the wind. "What were those?"
"Doesn't matter, Manda," he looks directly into her eyes. "You may not like me the way I like you. But no matter what, I'll be a friend whenever you need me," the pterosaur only receives silence. When he gets up to leave though, Manda grabs his hand.
"Wait! I could use that friend right now. Will you just sit with me for a while?"
Rodan smiles as he takes a seat next to her.

After taking a few moments to think things over, Mosura walks back up to the Prime Minister who is again talking to Director Amaki.
"Ms. Hikari. Now is not the moment—" the Prime Minster starts but gets cut off.
"You will give me a moment," Mosura insists before turning to the Director. "Or at least he will. You said that you don't like my kind because of what we can do. The same can be said about you."
"Excuse me!?" Amaki raised his voice.
"You're a soldier. I can tell by your posture. I'm familiar with it. I can also guess that you are currently carrying a weapon?"
He did not respond until the Prime Minster calls his name.
"Amaki!"
At that, the director opens his jacket to reveal a holster carrying a Maser Pistol.
"As I thought. So, tell me, Director. What's stopping you from open firing on everyone in this room?"
A vein on his forehead bulges out as he shouts, "I would never do that?"
"Neither would I!" Mosura shouts back. "Yet, you are trusted to being allowed such a weapon to use responsibly. I believe that trust is the best way of coexistence between our kinds. Not once have I ever lied about that. As for personal gain? I have a daughter from the other world, and I have no idea where she is. My team is the only chance at finding her."
"Didn't you fail to save that world!?"
"I'll be damned if I fail another one!" she takes a deep breath to regain her composure. "If you will excuse me," Mosura turns to leave the two men.
"Ms. Hikari!" the Prime Minister calls out and she turns to him. "After the holidays, I want to see you in my office to discuss a proper budget."
Mosura was shocked for a moment but quickly smiled and bows, "Thank you, Prime Minister," and with that the guardian of peace leaves to tell the others the good news.
Amaki glares at her as she leaves before facing the politician. "Prime Minister, I suspect that your decision may have been tampered with. Let me handle the kaiju threat."
"That has always been your problem, Amaki," the Prime Minister reaches behind his ear and removes a transmitter of his own. "Always ready to mistrust everyone," shows it to the general. "A politician needs to learn when to trust someone and when not to. Especially until you know the motivations of the other party. Until then, offer a hand of friendship while keeping the other hand behind your back to hide the knife," the Prime Minister hands the transmitter to him. "I don't think I need this knife anymore," he then pats him on the arm and flashes Amaki a smile, "Don't worry. We'll still need K.A.N.E. You're the only ones with a proper holding facility for kaiju. Not to mention, there may be an extreme case from the bad Kaiju, in which your services will be required." The Prime Minister leaves the Director alone to his own thoughts.
