History has changed. After a devastating loss handed to Ayote and her remaining friends, she herself being critically hurt after saving Chiaotzu's life from the wrath of King Piccolo, the Dragon Team are forced to regroup and figure out a plan of action in order to defeat the evil king. But with Ayote's condition as it is, do they stand a chance?

At Kame House, an unconscious Ayote was being tended to by Chiaotzu as best as he could with limited knowledge on first aid. Bandages were wrapped all around the Saiyan's back, hiding the wound that she sustained from saving the smaller telepath. Once Ayote's wound wrapped up, using his telepathy, Chiaotzu placed Ayote on the couch gently. Once he was done, he sees Tien enter the house to check on their wounded friend.

Chiaotzu: "Were we followed?"

Tien: "No. King Piccolo doesn't seem to know about or care about this place. So I think we'll be fine."

Chiaotzu: "That's good…"

Chiaotzu looked down, a look of guilt on his face. Tien notices this, and rather than disturb Ayote's rest with their continued prattling, he decides to speak through telepathy.

Tien: "What's wrong, Chiaotzu?"

Chiaotzu: "It's Master Roshi… He was depending on me to get my wish out and… I failed him… And now his own granddaughter got hurt because of me… I just feel… so useless…"

Tien understood. Their efforts were in vain; the tri-clops didn't understand why he'd paralyze him like he did, but in hindsight, it was likely because Tien stood no chance in fighting the demon king. Understanding that, he cursed his lack of strength silently.

Tien: "I get what you mean, my friend. In a sense, I understand why Master Roshi did what he did. But we can feel useless all we want… What matters now is that we need to stop King Piccolo."

Chiaotzu: "But how?"

Tien: "While observing Master Roshi, I studied the movements and technique of the Mafuba… With some practice, I could use it and seal away the enemy for good."

Chiaotzu is immediately against this as he turns to Tien with a horrified look.

Chiaotzu: "Are you crazy!? What if you die too!?"

Tien: "I know, I know. But… I think I should have enough vitality to avoid dying to it. I will only have one shot though so I need to make my chance count."

Chiaotzu: "What about a seal? That's important too."

Tien: "I memorized it. I should be able to recreate it before our encounter with King Piccolo. All that's left is a container and… someone to weaken him…"

Ayote: "I'll do it."

The two turn to the couch Ayote was supposed to be resting on, finding her readjusting her dress top as she flexed her fingers. They were startled at her being awake, but then noticed that… Ayote didn't look the same. Tien could see it better; seeing Goku, Krillin, and Roshi die affected her greatly and for the worse…

Tien: "Ayote. You need to get some rest. Your injury is way too serious."

Ayote: "I'm fine, Tien. I can handle some green alien…"

Chiaotzu: "...Alien? You mean King Piccolo?"

Ayote nods, but was in no mood to elaborate. Questions for another time.

Tien: "Ayote. I understand that you wish to avenge your family. By all accounts, you have every right. But in your condition, you wouldn't be much of a fight for him. Especially now that he has regained his youth."

Ayote looked at Tien, but said nothing. Her expression said more than she needed to - she was going regardless of what the tri-clops said. But looking at their options, Tien sighed.

Tien: "Fine… You may actually be our best shot at weakening Piccolo. But please, Ayote… Be careful."

Ayote: "...Sure…"

And with that, she sat silently, waiting for the duo to be ready to go. Any food she was offered was eaten only slightly and she barely drank any water. She truly was in a depressed state. Chiaotzu felt awful at seeing Ayote like that… but he knew he couldn't do anything…

Goku awakens in a strange office-like setting, on a red carpet that led to a large mahogany desk. Behind said desk was a giant horned person with a massive beard. The horned person was spinning a stamp between his fingers as he looked at a piece of paper.

King Yemma: "Son Goku… Or shall I address you as 'Kakarot'? Let's see… A very fine record, I must say. A very pure and noble heart."

Goku: "...Um… Where am I? Why am I here?"

King Yemma: "Hm? Oh yes, I guess the reality of the situation hasn't quite reached you. Look up."

Goku did so, seeing a glowing yellow ring above his head - a halo. He then remembered Grandpa Gohan and Elery and how they had halos. He then remembered what happened before he awoke in the office; King Piccolo must've killed him.

Goku: "...Oh…"

King Yemma: "Have you realized it? You're dead. Died to the hands of King Piccolo in an effort to defeat him. I won't deny your bravado, but you weren't winning that fight sadly."

Goku: "...Shoot. Ayote's really gonna be upset when she hears about this…"

King Yemma wanted to say something, but didn't have the heart to tell Goku that that storm had come and gone.

King Yemma: "Now normally I would simply just send you to Heaven and be done with it, but you're a special case, says Kami… Personally, I don't see it, but who knows? Maybe you'll surprise me. So instead, you'll get special training."

Goku: "Wait, for real? But I'm dead though…"

King Yemma: "Yes, but Kami has a plan. No idea what that plan is or why you are involved, and I'm not one to ask such meaningless questions. Anyway, just step through that door over there."

Yemma points over to a door to the right of the room, just behind a TV. Goku looks at it with curiosity before he opens it and enters. Upon entering, Goku entered what looked to be a flower garden expanse; miles and miles of flowers with petals blowing in the wind. In the middle of this flower field was a lone fair-skinned woman with black hair and a similar kind of armor to what Elery wore, but with no shoulder pads, instead straps were used to hold it up. Goku approached the lone woman as he looked around.

Goku: "Excuse me. Are you the one who's going to train me?"

Woman: "Not quite. I'm more of a welcoming committee."

The woman stood up from sniffing a flower, revealing a monkey tail much like Goku's. She turns to meet Goku's gaze, causing him to feel a wave of nostalgia wash over him.

Woman: "What's wrong? You act like you've seen a ghost?"

She asks coyly, smiling at Goku.

Goku: "...Are you… my M-Mom…?"

Gine: "...I am. It's so good to meet you again after all these years, Kakarot."

Goku's eyes widened before they filled with tears. He then embraced his mother, holding her tightly as she ruffles his hair. After this brief embrace, the two sat together with Goku telling Gine, in an excited way, his entire adventure and about Ayote, which the mother listened to intently.

Gine: "My, seems like you went on quite an adventure. And I'm happy you and Ayote were able to arrive on Earth safely. I can imagine the trip for her was rough…"

Goku: "Yeah… But I hope she's okay. Considering how she looked when she saw Krillin, I can only imagine how she feels right now… And then there's King Piccolo…"

Old Man Voice: "That is indeed a problem, my boy. Though you were brave to face him, your strength and lack of experience ultimately became your downfall."

Goku and Gine turned and saw an old man in a white, old-fashioned gi and black belt wrapped around his waist, black pants and red wristbands. His gray hair and bushy mustache certainly gave an impression to his elderly age.

Goku: "Who are you?"

Old Man: "It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Son Goku. I am your master's former master from long ago… Master Mutaito."

Goku: "Wait, no way! Then are you the one who'll train me?"

Mutaito: "Indeed. A student of my student's, Son Gohan, has told me a lot about you. And, from his last bout with you, you have grown tremendously strong. However, in the end, my long time enemy, King Piccolo, had bested you… I'm very sorry for that, Goku. And for the loss of your friend."

Goku: "It's no problem. My friends will be able to wish me back with the Dragon Balls. And Ayote's really strong to boot so she can take on that old demon."

Mutaito certainly admired Goku's relaxed nature; he was taking his death in stride it seems, which not many people were readily able to accept. Still, the next part wasn't going to be easy to say.

Mutaito: "I will not be the only one to train you… However, the other instructor…"

Roshi: "Is already here."

Roshi appears, having just died and spoken to King Yemma about his task.

Goku: "M-Master Roshi!? Y-You died too?"

Mutaito: "Then I suppose… The Evil Containment Wave failed…"

Roshi: "Sadly… And Ayote saw my death; I didn't see her, but I could sense her energy just before I passed away… The poor soul… The fact she hasn't crossed over yet means she hasn't died a meaningless death. So I can take solace in that."

Mutaito: "Indeed."

Roshi: "But enough about that. We should concentrate on the task at hand."

Mutaito: "Miss Gine. Will you join us as well? If Goku is to be ready for the challenges ahead, he will need your guidance as well."

Gine: "I will. Though I admit that I'm not the strongest Saiyan, I need to act like one for my son."

Goku: "Challenges? What do you mean, Master Mutaito?"

Mutaito: "...Let's just say… Someone very wise is watching over us."

Goku was confused, but he shook his head. Regardless, a challenge is a challenge and he was ready to face it head-on. He got into a battle stance, as did his mentors and mother. Nearby, Son Gohan looks on from a distance, watching Goku face a three on one with a smile on his face.

Gohan's Thoughts: "My boy… Though it pains me to see you with a halo over your head, I'm glad that your fighting spirit still prevails… The least we can do is prepare you in case our world needs you…"

At the hospital, just a little while after Ayote left, the room in which Ayote had slept in was quiet as everyone registered the gravity of the situation. With Goku's death, hope for them seemed lost. King Piccolo may have won… That is until Chi-Chi spoke up.

Chi-Chi: "Urrrgh! Come on, guys! We need to figure something out! We can't just let Goku and Ayote be the only ones doing anything!"

Puar: "But… What can we do? Master Yamcha's hurt and the rest of us can't hope to match King Piccolo's power…"

Chi-Chi: "Uh… O-Okay. How did Goku get strong in the first place? Like who did he train under?"

Everyone began to think before Yamcha spoke up.

Yamcha: "Oh yeah! Goku before we went to Fortuneteller Baba's palace said he went to train at the Sacred Land of Korin!"

Ox-King: "The Sacred Land of Korin? Oh yeah, I went there once when I was really young and just after I finished training under Master Roshi. I couldn't climb the tower there though…"

Chi-Chi: "Tower?"

Ox-King: "Yeah. According to the villagers living there, if you climb the tower belonging to Master Korin, you will be bestowed great power from the Holy Water and a mystical bean that can heal all fatigue and injury."

Chi-Chi then hops to her feet as she looked at her dad with determination.

Chi-Chi: "Dad, please take me to the Sacred Land of Korin then. I don't care if we have to crash through trees, we need to get there on the double."

Ox-King: "B-But Chi-Chi… What are you hoping to accomplish?"

Chi-Chi: "Do you even need to ask? I intend to join in fighting King Piccolo."

This shocks everyone in the room, Ox-King especially. The normally docile Ox-King immediately turns into a more fearsome beast as he stood over his daughter. He wasn't going to hurt her, of course, but he was trying to intimidate her.

Ox-King: "Chi-Chi. I forbid you from fighting that monster. I've already lost my wife long ago; I am not losing my daughter too."

Chi-Chi: "My best friend just flew out to fight that demon… Her grandpa is out there fighting that demon… I refuse to sit by and do nothing. I know what the risk is, Dad… But if I don't do something, then… We may as well be dead anyway."

Chi-Chi stood defiantly against her father, glaring up at him. He eventually sighs before reluctantly nodding.

Ox-King: "You really are your mom's daughter… She was just as stubborn as you are… And with such a big heart too… Alright. Just… promise me you won't do anything reckless, okay, sweetie?"

Chi-Chi: "I promise. I just think… Ayote needs a friend in these trying times is all…"

Ox-King understands and the two set out to the Sacred Land of Korin.

The duo arrive to the Korin Forest at dusk, Ox-King driving as fast as their vehicle could. Chi-Chi bids her father farewell as she heads on her own to the home of Korin. She passes by Bora, Upa's father, who, upon hearing the princess' story, leads her to the tower to climb. And climb she did, through sheer determination and her fiery resolve, she climbed the tower until it was well into nighttime by the time she reached the top. Once she did, Chi-Chi looked around for Master Korin, hoping to receive training.

Chi-Chi: "Hello? Master Korin? I know it's late, but… I need training to help my friends!"

As she looked around, she felt a presence. She turned around to find a small white cat holding a wooden staff standing there, with closed eyes it seemed.

Cat: "Boy, can a cat get some shut eye? All that yellin' could wake up the dead."

Chi-Chi: "Uh! I-I'm sorry, sir! I didn't mean to disturb your sleep!"

Chi-Chi bows apologetically, but then the cat starts to chuckle a bit.

Cat: "Hehe! I'm joshin' ya, kid. I ain't angry. I do sleep, but I ain't got a wink once I sensed the terrifying power of King Piccolo being unleashed."

Chi-Chi: "You… sensed King Piccolo? Wait, are you Master Korin?"

Cat: "Yep and yep. And you're Ox's kid, Chi-Chi, ain't ya? Poor boy couldn't get too far up the tower before he got cold feet. Gotta give him props for tryin' though. You though? I can sense potential in you."

Chi-Chi: "I'm sorry to seem like I'm rushing but… I need training… badly. I want to help Ayote and…"

Korin looked at Chi-Chi before reading her mind; images of Ayote, Krillin, and Goku flashed through, as well as thoughts for the worst. He could easily sense the girl's intentions were pure-hearted.

Korin: "Alright, kid. You want trainin'? Then I'll train ya. But there won't be any shortcuts. However long it takes to train ya is however long it takes. If you want to help your friends, you gotta be willing go through the Korin School of Hard Knocks. Ya get me?"

Chi-Chi: "Yes, sir. I'll do anything to help my friends."

Korin: "Very well. Then climb my tower again."

A brief pause…

Chi-Chi: "Uh… Wha-"

And before Chi-Chi could say anything more, Korin knocks Chi-Chi off the tower, causing her to scream all the way down.

Korin: "Well, I don't call it the Korin School of Hard Knocks for nuthin. He he he…"

Korin's Thoughts: "'Course, if the kid's got the resolve, then she's gotta beat Goku's record of catching me for my 'Holy Water'... It took Goku three days… Let's see if she can do it in less…"

And so Chi-Chi's training began as she re-climbed the tower. Though she did not realize it, her climbing the tower took less time than the first. Once she reached the top, she was issued the challenge of catching Korin for the Holy Water and gain unbelievable strength. But just as she had him, she fell back to the bottom. The night pressed on, but her resolve never wavered; she'd climb back up and try again, each time becoming faster and learning Korin's movements. Korin was certainly impressed by Chi-Chi's speed. And as dawn broke over the horizon, a tired Chi-Chi finally caught the cat, claiming the water.

Chi-Chi: "I did it! I got you, Master Korin!"

Korin: "Hehe. You did good, kid. And even faster than Goku. That kid had talent, but you? You're on a whole other level."

Chi-Chi: "Well, I'm used to climbing tall places. My home, Fire Mountain, is a really great place to train when it's not on fire."

That certainly explained it, but as Chi-Chi drank the water, she found herself… not feeling any different.

Chi-Chi: "...Huh? Hey, this is just tap water."

Korin: "That's right, kiddo. See… The real training was you climbin' the tower and tryin' to catch me. The water was just to give you an incentive to try. …However, your training ain't done yet."

Chi-Chi looked confused but is soon given a tiny bean by the cat. She looked at it, then at Korin.

Korin: "That there is a Senzu Bean. It'll give ya a quick jolt after all that climbin' ya did."

She looked back at the bean before shrugging and eating it. And just like that, Chi-Chi's stamina came back to her. She would still need sleep later, but she at least had the energy to keep going for a while longer. Korin walked back to Chi-Chi, holding a pot and cup, the pot having the symbol for 'Kami'.

Korin: "This here is the Ultra Divine Water. Drinking this will truly bestow power to the drinker… but that, in itself, is a trial. Thirteen previous people have drank this water and none of them survived."

Chi-Chi gulped, starting to feel scared, but she took a deep breath as Korin poured her a cup.

Korin: "Now… I'll level with you, kid. Even if you do survive, there's no tellin' if you'll stand a chance defeating King Piccolo. You'll have a fighting chance against him, but defeating him is an entirely different matter. You could just walk away now and spare yourself of either death by water or death by demon. So what'll you do?"

Korin asks as he hands the cup to the girl. Chi-Chi looked at the liquid, seeing her reflection. She then closed her eyes, thinking back to Goku. Then to her father, then her mother. And finally to Ayote and their talk during the tournament. She could feel her fear slowly wash away as she reminded herself why she was training in the first place; to help her friends and family. She opened her eyes, her resolve burning true… before she gulped down the Ultra Divine Water… Korin could only watch as her body tensed up, the poison taking full effect near instantly.

Korin's Thoughts: "You brave kid… You truly have your friends' best intentions at heart… Well… I hope you pull through… Because your friends may need you sooner than you think…"

Korin looked down his tower, sensing three distinct powers going to King Castle to confront Piccolo. The battle for Earth's fate was about to begin…
