Chapter 1: a book by

Marissa lived a nice cozy life with her mother and father. She enjoyed the trips to England to visit her maternal grandmother and even the calls from her uncle. Still, she and her mom had the feeling that her uncle was hiding something from them.

He claimed that he was a hotel manager in California, but sometimes he would get calls from the oddest places. And by that it means on the computer screen, or the TV screen; she once was sure that she saw him talking into his wallet. He also talked about things that were not hotel related at all, such as criminals or organizations. She also realized that he has the strangest items on hand; she remembered once that she borrowed a pen from him and pressed a button, making a tiny laser shootout.

Strangeness aside, Marissa really liked her uncle Jerry. And now she was going to live near him in California.

Marissa's family owned their own successful businesses. Her dad was the CEO of a tech company and basically owned many major companies around the world he was famous for being ruthless in business and her mother was an ex-model who now owned many hotels. Her father had to head a new branch of his business in Beverly Hills, California, so the family had to move there. This excited Marissa because she could see her favorite uncle more often but she know there was another reason for it as well.

Today, her family was driving into their new house. Marissa's mother, Angel, was on the phone while her father, Kai, drove the car.

Kai had black hair and brown eyes and was dressed in a green collar shirt, jeans, and black shoes. He often came off as serious, but he was actually only serious in business.

Angel had long curly blonde hair and dark pink eyes. She was dressed in a light colored sundress and white open toed shoes. She was quite a beautiful woman, so it was easy to understand how she was a model.

Marissa was crossing her arms as she sat back. Her hair was black in the back and dyed pink on top and naturally blonde on the right side. Her dark pink eyes held a coldness. Her outfit was a black t-shirt with a skull under a black leather jacket, black jeans, and black boots. She also had on a black choker and three chain necklaces. Her shirt was low at the neck and exposed her dragon tattoo. There was another reason they were moving and she knew it.

"Marissa, why can't you at least try to get excited about the move?" Angel asked.

"I'm wondering why we're really moving that's why….is it because I punched that girl that was bullying that kid."

Angel sighed and said, "You knocked out three of her teeth. You're lucky we convinced her family not to sue us."

"Her family wasn't gonna sue us, paired if they ever wanted to work again." Kai said coldly. "personally the girl deserved it. No one messages with our family.'

"Still, it's not like we could just pretend it away," said Angel. "My family already has one black sheep, I don't want my daughter making the same mistakes as Terrance."

"First of all, Angel, don't compare Marissa to him. What he did was for himself, not to protect a victim of bullying," said Kai. "Second, Marissa is a good kid."

"Look, just give the place a chance, dear. You might find you like it here," said Angel as they arrived at their new home. "Oh good! We're here!"

"Ok. I'll try and it seems nice." marissa remarked.

"That's the spirit!" Angel said as they parked in the driveway and hugged her. She got out and looked around at the mansion gate. "Hmm. shouldn't the moving truck have been here by now?"

"Maybe they're lost. I'll call them up," said Kai as he got out his cell phone.

"This could take a while. Marissa, why don't you go to the mall?" Angel suggested.

"alright but I'm taking my bike." marissa said in a calm tone.

"I couldn't stop you if I tried," said Angel as she unlocked the bike and gave Marissa her helmet. She also gave her a card. "In case you see anything you like."

"Thanks, Mom, you're the best." Marissa said running off getting her helmet on and driving off.

"Should I be worried about her?" Angel asked.

"if another bully comes around maybe." Kai said in a calm tone and realized the person on the phone heard him. "Oh! No, I was talking to my wife."

-Beverly Hills Mall-

Marissa parked in the garage. A car then parked next to her. Unfortunately, the car was too close and banged her bike. A girl with long black hair got out and glared at Marissa.

"Hey! You almost dented my car, you witch!" she screamed like a banshee.

She removed her helmet. "Do you want something? You almost hit me. Do you know who my dad is?"

The girl looked nervous and then said, "You know, that scratch will come out easily. Bye!"

The girl then ran off. Marissa rolled her eyes and went inside the mall.

Marissa walked into the a makeup store and looked through the items. She picked up the mascara red lipsticks. After leaving the makeup store, Marissa remembered that her uncle's birthday was coming up and walked into another store.

Marissa was looking around when she suddenly heard party music. She turned around and saw a girl with dark skin laughing while holding up an item. She noticed Marissa and turned it off.

"Sorry," said the girl. "I was checking out these Swiss party knives as a possible birthday gift for my boss. This thing has twenty gadgets and a pre-programmed radio with party tunes."

"It's my uncle's birthday too. But I doubt he'd like it," said Marissa.

"I also doubt our boss would like that," said a caucasian redhead girl.

"Hi, I'm Marissa Namoto. I have my father's last name." marissa said in a calm tone.

"Namoto? I feel like I know that name," said the brunette.

"You do, Alex. it's the company that made the computer Sammie got for her birthday last year," said a blonde girl.

"Is your dad related to Kai Namoto?" the redhead asked.

"He is kai Namoto. He also took over several companies by hostile takeover."

The redhead gulped and said, "I always thought the hostile part was just rumors."

"Apparently not," said the blonde. "Anyhow, I'm Clover. The redhead is Sam, and the brunette is Alex. Nice to meet you."

"You too," said Marissa. "So, what's this boss like?"

"Well, he's an old guy," said Alex. and then her eyes fell on some thing and she pulled it out. "Check this out! A velvet all-terrain golf cart. Marissa, I bet your uncle would love one too."

Marissa pulled out a card. "yeah."

"I don't know," said Sam. "I mean, who would really want that? Does your uncle even golf, Marissa?"

"Not that I know of. I wasn't really thinking that I was looking at that." Marissa pointed to a personalized phone that allowed you to call their person immediately and send reminders. "Uncle Jerry would love that."

"I bet Jer would love one too," said Clover. And then she looked at Marissa. "Wait, your uncle's name is Jerry?"

"Your boss is a Jerry too?"

"Yeah," said Clover.

"Wow. Small world. Two Jerry's having the same birthday," said Alex.

Marissa pulled out a picture. "This is my uncle."

The girls looked at it and then their eyes got wide like saucers. "Jerry?!" they said in shock.

"You know him then?" Marissa asked surprised. "You work at his work then?"

The girls suddenly snapped back to reality and composed themselves.

"Yeah, we sure do," said Sam. "We just didn't know he had a niece."

"He's kinda private," said Alex.

"Well, he has a sister, my mother and he has a mother." Marissa said calmly walking and going to pay for the phone.

"Wow. Mind blown!" Clover said when she was gone. "And I guess we're back to square one. Since Marissa is already getting him that phone, I can't get one for him; totally awkward to have two of the same gift."

"I've got an idea!" Sam said. "We can throw Jerry a surprise party!"

"Awesome! Old Jer would never expect that from us!" Clover said.

The girls started brainstorming right away. Marissa returned with the phone she bought for him while they thought. Alex then got an idea.

"I've got it! We could blindfold him and take him into a hot air balloon!" Alex said.

"My uncle doesn't fly balloons," said Marissa.

"Okay," said Alex.

"Or we could trick him into meeting us in a submarine and invite all his friends," Clover suggested.

"Where are you gonna get a submarine?" Marissa asked, surprised.

"Yeah!" Alex cheered. "Or we could push him off a cliff and not tell him that it's a surprise bungee jumping party."

"Or I could buy a gift and you can give it to him so you don't traumatize him." Marissa said as she looked at them. "How about a trip?"

"That would be preferable to Alex's idea, which would likely give him a heart attack," said Sam.

Before Marissa could even pull out of her phone to call her travel agent, the golf cart opened and sucked them all in. the girls screamed as they were pulled through a tunnel.

"Jerry really needs to stop this!" Sam screamed. And then she saw Marissa. "Crud!"

"Are we getting kidnapped?!" Marissa shouted.

"Actually, this is our work ride!" Alex said over the noise.

"What!?"

"Uh, I don't think your uncle's been entirely honest with you about his job!" Clover screamed as they were flying.

The end of the tunnel opened and the girls all landed on what felt like a cushion. Marissa looked up from her landing and realized that she was in some kind of office. It looked like the kind seen in spy movies.

"Hello, girls," said a familiar English man. And then he saw the fourth girl. "M-Marissa?!"

"Uncle!" Marissa shouted.

"Oh dear," he said. "This is not good at all."

"You have a lot of explaining to do." Marissa said looking fairly angry.

Jerry looked embarrassed as he said, "I was really not expecting you to come. In fact, I wasn't expecting to see you until tonight at dinner."

"Speaking of." Marissa handed him his gift.

"Oh! You remembered!" Jerry happily said as he accepted it. And then he noticed the angry expression was still there. "Right. Well, remember when I told the family I am a hotel manager?"

"Yes." Marissa crossed her arms.

"Well, that was my cover story," said Jerry. "I am actually in charge of a secret organization in charge of protecting the world's safety. We are the World Organization of Human Protection. Or W.O.O.H.P."

"Explains the laser pen you gave me for my birthday." Marissa remarked.

"You gave your niece a laser pen?!" Alex asked in shock.

"I got worried that my enemies would find out that I have a family," said Jerry. "I honestly never meant for her to find out it was a laser just by fiddling with it."

"Or how you convinced my mom to let you teach me how to fight and to get me lessons in several fighting styles."

"Again, in case enemies attacked my family," said Jerry. "By the way, the next time you attack a bully, don't aim for the jaw."

"I'll keep that in mind."

"Also, make sure to use the choker I gave you for Christmas last year. It's a camera," said Jerry. "This way the bully can't turn the tables on you."

"Are all the gifts you gave me a weapon or a spy gadget?" Marissa asked.

"A good number of them are. I'll come by later and show you which ones are the gadgets," said Jerry. And then he remembered the trio. "Sorry, I got sidetracked. You have a new mission."

"Before you ask, Marissa, yes, we are spies," said Sam.

"Alright let me join."

"Excuse me?" Jerry asked.

"I can help, I'm terrifying and I'm incredibly strong like untrally so."

Jerry was about to protest when Clover said, "She's not backing down, I can tell."

"Fine," said Jerry with a sigh as the screen turned on. "Loads of people have gone missing in Seattle, Washington. The peculiar thing is that they all disappeared yesterday."

Photos of people appeared on the screen. None of them were particularly high profile people. But Sam noticed something they had in common.

"They're all redheads," said Sam.

"You think it's a coincidence?" Clover asked.

"I'm more blonde naturally." Marissa said.

"Then I guess the kidnappers won't want to take you," said Sam.

"Maybe I mean can you tell what hair color my hair is?" marissa remarked.

"I honestly, I thought your hair was black," said Sam. "And I meant they seem to favor redheads."

"You'll all be departing momentarily to figure out how all this ties together. And now for your gear," Jerry walked to his desk and pressed a button. Some items appeared on the desk and he started showing them off. "Earring microphone communicators, laser lipstick, windtunnel blast strength hair dryers, jetpack backpacks, and third."

"Third? I thought we were on gadget number 5," said Alex.

"Third, T.H.I.R.D. Tiny hidden investigative ring devices," said Jerry as he showed them a diamond ring with a pink band. He opened the ring and revealed a hidden microphone and camera.

"Thanks, Jerry. We'll be in touch," said Sam.

"Good luck, girls," said Jerry as he gave them their backpacks.

"Why do we need backpacks?" Marissa asked in confusion.

"They're jetpacks," said Jerry.

"Oh you were serious. Ok." Marissa remarked and then she felt a hole open up.

"She actually thought I was kidding about the gadgets?" Jerry asked as the girls fell.

A phone rang and Jerry saw it was his niece.

"What an impressive phone," said Jerry. "Hello, Marissa."

:Why did you drop us in a hole.:

"It's the fastest way to get you to your location," said Jerry. And then he laughed. "It's also funny when the girls freak out."

:not so funny on the other end.:

"You'll be fine," said Jerry.

:hope your right but when I'm back were having a chat.:

Jerry became nervous. "And not a friendly one if I know you," said Jerry.

With the others.

Marissa looked unhappy she looked at the girls.

"I don't understand why Jerry thinks it's funny to do that," said Clover.

"I don't ether but I'll have a chat with him when he's done."

"Maybe you could convince him to send us a ride for our future missions?" Clover suggested. "Maybe a limo?"

"not a limo maybe a car or bike." Marissa said with a shrug. "My first day of school is tomorrow so hopefully this isn't a long thing."

"We're gonna do everything we can to bust these bad guys as quickly as possible, so don't worry," said Alex.

Sam then pulled out her pink compact and opened it. "Our first stop is the house of Linda Jones. Her sister, Lauren, disappeared yesterday. If she's anything like the other missing people, then her sister could have a vital clue about what happened."

"I'll check around the disappearance spots and back track well you guys do that." marissa said she went to go check out the area.

"Meet you at the coffee shop!" Sam called as they parted ways.

-Linda Jones' house-

"So you and your sister are very close?" Sam asked a pretty girl with long black hair.

"Yeah, we're best friends," said the black haired girl, Linda. "She was supposed to meet me here yesterday afternoon but never showed up."

"Maybe she went on an all night shopping bender and forgot to call," said Clover. Sam and Alex gave her dirty looks. "What? I've done it lots of times."

"My sister is really responsible. She would've called," said Linda. And then she looked worried. "And no one we know has heard from her."

"Where was the last place you saw her?" Sam asked.

"At this new hair salon called the Cutting Edge," said Linda. "She was going in for a free hair treatment."

"Did you get one too?" Alex asked.

"I wanted to. But the woman said I didn't have the right hair; whatever that meant," said Linda, a little annoyed by the memory.

Sam picked up a framed photo on the table. The photo was of a girl close to the age of Linda. She looked a lot like her, only her hair was red instead of black. This had to be Lauren, the missing sister. This new information just might be the big clue they need.

"So, your sister's a redhead," said Sam.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Linda said with a smile of admiration. And then she frowned. "I hope she's okay."

"Thanks for your help," said Sam. "We'll let you know if we find anything."

After the girls left, Sam called Marissa and said, "We have a lead."

'This is Marissa leave a message after the beep.'

"Ugh!" Sam groaned. "Marissa, it's Sam. Meet us at the coffee shop. We have a lead on the case. The sister we talked to said that her sister was last seen at the Cutting Edge hair salon."

With marissa

Marissa was looking around at the last place the person was. Then she saw the Cutting Edge. Marissa looked at the place and figured it must be important. She got ready to enter when a woman walked out.

"Can I help you, young lady?" the woman asked her.

"just looking for a friend." Marissa lied.

"Is that right?" she asked. "What's their name? I can check our records and see if they've been here."

She gave the name of the missing girl. The woman looked like she was thinking and then went inside. She came out and spoke to Marissa.

"No one inside answered to that name," said the woman. "And it didn't appear on my records. I'm sorry."

Marissa pulled up her phone and showed a video of her entering. "Try again."

The woman looked shocked. "Okay," said the woman. She went inside and went to the computer. Marissa followed her and watched her the whole time. "Ah! Here's her name. Yes, she was here, but she left after her treatment."

"Do you know where?" marissa asked in a calm tone.

"Probably home," said the woman. "I'd offer you the treatment I gave her, but, sadly, you don't have the right hair." And then she found a wallet on the floor and picked it up. Her eyes went wide when she saw the photo and the name on the ID. "Uh, Miss Namoto, is this really you?"

"Yes. the photo is from before my dye job," said Marissa as she turned to leave.

"I had no idea you were a blonde," said the woman. "We do have a brand new treatment for blonde hair that's free and available right now. If you're interested."

"Alright if I come back later?"

The woman hesitated for a second, and then remembered the other customers. "Of course," she said.

Marissa walked off taking her id before noticing she had a missed call and called back once she was outside.

:Marissa, it's Sam. Meet us at the coffee shop. We have a lead on the case. The sister we talked to said that her sister was last seen at the Cutting Edge hair salon.:

"No need I'm at the cutting edge."

:We'll come to you then: said Sam. :How much did you learn? Did you find out anything that could help?:

"I don't think they only target redheads," said Marissa. "The woman saw my ID photo and offered me a free hair treatment. I think that girl and the others got taken because of the quality of their hair not the color."

:I see: said Sam. :So we need to get inside with high quality hair.:

"Yeah I don't know if I like that woman, she seemed sketchy."

:That gives us plenty of reasons to investigate. We're almost there: said Sam.

"Ok." she hung up.

Sam, Alex, and Clover arrived 5 minutes later and met Marissa. They exchanged information that they gathered so far.

"I wonder what those people are after, though," said Alex. and then she gasped. "You don't think they're planning on harvesting people's hair, do you?!"

"That just sounds creepy."

"One way to know for sure," said Clover. "Better go in."

Marissa nodded and they walked into the place. The woman that she talked to was looking over some customers when she saw Marissa and Clover.

"Why hello! Are you ready to try the new treatment?" the woman asked. "And you brought another customer too, I see."

"It's just me who wants the treatment my friend here is here to call my parents when I get out."

"I see. Right this way," said the woman as she showed her to the chairs.

Marissa told Clover to put a tracker on her clothes just in case as she walked over to the chair. Clover nodded and did as she was told. She then left the salon and joined the others.

"Such a shame your friend couldn't join. Her hair looked as beautiful as yours did in your picture," said the stylist. "Now just close your eyes and relax."

"Personally I never relax. My father tells me to always keep alert."

"Well, you don't need to worry. You're perfectly safe," said the stylist. "I promise the treatment will be a life changing experience."

"If you say so. I know if anything happened to me my father would hunt anyone down to find me." Marissa said before closing her eyes.

The woman blinked in surprise. She then shrugged and signaled the rest. Suddenly, all of the women felt cuffs on their wrists and ankles. They all naturally freaked out.

Marissa sighed slightly. And pulled, cracking one and smirked "this is why I don't relax." Marissa muttered.

The chairs automatically were pulled under the floor and into a tunnel. Marissa looked calm and relaxed as it was moved under the ground.

"Marissa! Can you hear us?!" Alex's voice said through the earpiece she was given.

"Not really kinda staticy sounds like your breaking up."

"We're following the tunnel!" she faintly heard Clover say through the static.

"And they cut out…" marissa remarked breaking the cuffs through pure strength. "thank you my inhuman strength now I just wait to see we're im heading and let them question me why my cuffs are broken."

A wall opened and they went through. Once they finally stopped, the girls were taken by some men into what looked like a building. Once one came to Marissa, he stopped in his tracks.

"What happened to this girl's cuffs?" he asked the others.

"you know you're lucky I'm not punching you right now."

"Oh, I'm so scared of a little girl," he sarcastically said.

She punched him.

"What the hell?!" the other men cried out.

"inhuman strength. If you read anything about me you realize who you just kidnapped."

"You won't have that strength for long," another man said as he tried to push her head backwards.

"Doubt it it's how I am I it comes back no matter what but sense your ignoring me your the idiot." she tossed him back well sitting.

"You little bitch!" he shouted as he reached for a gun.

"Yes, continue to see what you achieve." Marissa said. And then he pulled the trigger and a dart hit her.

"Sleep tight," he said.

"Yeah, drugs don't work on me my dad had me take several to make me immune."

"You've gotta be kidding me," he said.

"My dad is terrifying he's a former yakuza."

"Seriously?" he asked.

"Yeah and got all those who remembered he was arrested so he could leave the life for my mom." marissa remarked as she sat in the chair there were very few drugs that worked on her because of her dad only ones that did were morphine pain killers and other things used by doctors. "Again you should research who you take next time not that there will be one considering you kidnapped me."

"What's going on?" asked a woman with long brown hair in a purple long sleeved dress.

"They're trying to figure out how to deal with the situation sense they idiotically didn't research who they took." marissa commented noncuntly.

"Well, it would be a shame to lose a valuable asset. However, it looks like you might be dangerous," said the woman.

"If you kill me you'll just end up dead." She then noticed the other girls growing weaker as their hair started growing longer. "What is in that stuff?"

"A special recipe to grow hair to make my new line of high quietly wigs," said the woman.

"You seem somewhat smart, look up my name and think greatly how likely it would be he find me dead or alive and how likely he use all his power to kill the one who killed his daughter."

The woman pulled out her phone and typed in Marissa's name. Her eyes went wide with shock as she looked at the girl.

"Oh no," she said, her face paling.

"See my dad buried his past for those in law enforcement and other governments not for criminals because they know it's very dangerous to cross him."

She uncuffed Marissa's ankles and said, "I don't suppose I could persuade you to not report any of this?"

"You got a ticket for the bus?"

"I'll buy you one personally," said the woman.

"Then yes I won't report it you know how many times I've been kidnapped until they realized who my dad was….too many."

"Please show this girl to my office. She can wait there whilst I purchase her bus ticket," said the woman.

The man she was talking to led Marissa up to the office. Once she was alone, Marissa learned the woman's name from her desk. She was Felicia Mane.

"Must be a fun job." she commented. And then she looked at a magazine and found an article about her. "A real big wig in the world of wigs. You two probably didn't think you had to escort one of her guests up stairs into her office."

"Honestly, we weren't expecting that," said the one guy.

"Well it's whatever." marissa remarked. "At least your boss is smart. Some don't even actually look me up and ignore me and regret it my father is very protective of his kids and wife….to the point he goes back to his old habits to protect them the amount of times I've been kidnapped because they didn't research my dad is too many."

"I see. Well, don't worry about anything," said one of the men. "If you're interested, you could take a look at one of the catalogs of wigs."

"Sure." Marissa said thinking to herself it was a good way to see what the hair was used for. As she flipped through the pages, she asked a question. "Why does a wig maker own salons?"

"Where do you think wig makers get the hair they use?" the first guy asked. "But, never mind that. Miss Mane should be back soon with your bus ticket."

"Yeah, not my business anyway." marissa said putting the magazine down.

Felicia arrived with the ticket and handed it to Marissa. "Here you are. This will get you to the airport and then you can get a plan back to the states."

"Do you mean we're not in America?" Marissa asked.

"We're actually in London," said Felicia.

"I understand. Thanks a lot," said Marissa as she headed for the door. "I can see myself out."

Marissa walked down the hallway and recorded everything she could that would count as evidence. Once she had enough, she left the building and waited at the bus stop. A car pulled up and the window was rolled down.

"You lost, missy?" a familiar voice asked. Marissa smiled when she saw her three new friends.

"Not anymore," Marissa said with a smile. She then got in and handed over her recording equipment. "Got some evidence too."

"Yes!" Sam cheered as she sent it to Jerry.

"Uh, how did you get out of there?" Alex asked.

"I'll explain once we get back to whoop." Marissa said.

"Okay," said Alex.

"Okay, Jerry, we have Marissa. We'll bring her to the jet while the other agents take in Mane," said Sam.

"Excellent work," said Jerry. "You as well, Marissa. I think you're ready to be an official agent. The jet will get you home in time for dinner and plenty of time to rest before your first day of school."

"and before my dad does a manhunt." Marissa said.

"Yes, we wouldn't want that," said Jerry. "Though he did call here, so I told him you met some girls at the mall and you were hanging out with them."

"Alright thanks uncle." as they headed back she explained why she was let go and told them about her dad.
