Revenge, Love and Everything In-between
Chapter1: Gone
Harry lay wide awake, it's June a month since he had finally killed Voldemort. The past month had been nothing short of terrible between the hearing of the Death Eaters and the funerals of the ones that had lost their lives like Lupin and Tonks. But nothing could be worse than today watching his girlfriend and the family that has cared for him like their own since just before his Second Year bury their son and brother.
The guilt over Teddy losing his parents like Harry did and the Weasleys losing Fred was more than he could handle. Looking to his side he saw Ginny's eyes still puffy from all the crying but at least she was asleep. Harry slowly moved away from her cuddled to his side lifting the covers off me.
"I'm sorry," he whispered to her sleeping form before placing a kiss on her forehead.
Making his way out of the room, he walked over to the room that held the little clothing that had not been destroyed or lost. After throwing on clothes, he picked up the bag with rest of clothes in. He couldn't stay here; creeping down the stairs to the quiet house that he had felt more like home than Dursleys ever did. Opening the door, he stepped out into the warm air before apparating to the Hogshead in Hogsmeade. The lights were still on he pushed open the door to see Aberforth Dumbledore standing behind the bar. He took a seat at the bar.
"You look more troubled than the first time I saw you," Aberforth said placing a firewiskey in front of him.
"I just—with everything that's happened I needed to get away," Harry told him as he tried to find the words. Picking up the fire whiskey and downing it in one go. "That's the good stuff."
"My brother was the same way after the war with Grindelwald," Aberforth nodded in understanding. "If you need a place to stay until everything quietens down, my old house in Godric's Hollow is still there."
"Godric's Hollow?" Harry asked in surprise. "The place where you, the headmaster and your sister lived?"
"That's the one," Aberforth confirmed with a sigh. "It's a little run down but it's out of the way and its yours if you want it."
Well, I suppose since no one was using it…
"Thank you," Harry said with gratitude.
"…Albus and I had our differences but after everything that's happened, I think I see what he saw in you," Aberforth told Him. "Here," he said as he placed a key down on the table. "Well? What are you waiting for? Get out of here already…"
Staring at the key for a moment before he picked it up and stood up. He downed the second glass of fire whiskey and dropped a few galleons on the table as payment. Aberforth grunted and took the money as Harry turned towards the door.
"If anyone comes around, please don't tell them you saw me," Harry said.
"You were never here," Aberforth responded as he watched Harry leave.
Harry Apparated away as soon as he stepped outside…
Ginny woke up alone the day after Fred's funeral. That was a month ago; she hadn't heard from Harry, not a single ruddy owl. She got up, throwing on her dressing gown before heading downstairs. Stepping into the kitchen everyone turned to look at her; it had been like that for the past month.
"Will everyone stop that," Ginny shot at them.
"Everyone is just worried for you dear," Molly says indicating for her to sit down. She placed a plate in front of her.
"I'm not hungry mum," Ginny protested pushing the plate away.
"You have to…" Molly goes to tell her but is interrupted by an owl flying through the open window dropping a letter in Ginny's lap. She looked at the front to see Harry's handwriting and the owl flew back to the window sitting on the ledge.
"Is it from Harry?" Arthur questioned. Ginny just nodded, slowly turning the letter over. She opened it slowly. It read ...
Dear Ginny
I know you are most likely mad at me but I'm sorry for what it worth. I'm a coward, I couldn't sit and watch the pain I have put you and your family through. I know you would say It wasn't my fault that Fred died but if I had of went to Voldemort sooner those that are dead would not be.
I won't be coming back; I can't keep in contact. I love you and your family, but I can't deal with the guilt staring at me every day. I'm okay but there is something I need to do; I hope one day you will forgive me for running away.
I hope you and your family are well.
I love you Gin.
Harry
PS if you want to send an owl back, send it with the owl that had the letter. It will know where to find me, I understand if you don't.
"The first time he tells me he loves me it's in a letter to say he's not coming!" Ginny shouted throwing the letter to the table her heart breaking.
Her family stare at her in shock as tears run down her face Molly picks up the letter and looked at it.
"Are you writing him one back?" Molly asked placing the letter back down.
"Why should I," Ginny shot back. "One of you can if you want."
The following week passed but the owl still sat waiting. Molly had fed it and Ron tried to give it a letter, but it just kept dropping it. Ginny gave up and after many attempts she wrote a letter back.
Dear Harry
I'm not mad at you I'm sad, I just want you to come home. No one blames you for Fred so you should not blame yourself. Everyone is worried about you I'm worried about you, if you are not coming back, please tell me where you are so I can come and see you.
How dare you say you love me for the first time in a letter! You should be saying it to my face!
I love you Harry please come home.
Love Ginny
She wrote before putting the parchment in the envelope. Ginny quickly walked down the stairs, over to the owl and tied it to him. It took it and flew off.
"He must have told the owl to only accept the letter from you I'm pleased you wrote to him," Molly told Ginny who give her mum a weak smile before going back to her room.
