"Naiyah!" the Warrior shouted as he ran through war-torn Arcadia, desperately looking for the Time Lady. He should've never have left! His place was by her side, keeping her as safe as possible during this senseless war!
"Doctor…" he heard a voice faintly call. He followed it only to stop horrified seeing her lying there, battered and bloodied.
"Naiyah!" the Time Lord exclaimed rushing over to her, the blonde crying out in pain as he took her in his arms.
"Y-you came back…" Naiyah whispered. She shouldn't have lost hope that he would come back. Her best friend had never let her down, not once in the centuries she had known him.
The Warrior nodded "Yeah I did. I came back for you", he said. His face turned into one of worry when she coughed blood. "How many…?"
"None", the dying Time Lady answered, fighting to keep her eyes open. She was just so tired.
"Just stay with me", the Warrior urged "I'm going to save you". There was no way he was going to let her die now. No way! He came back to the War to find her…to protect her…and if necessary…save her. And that's exactly what he was going to do.
"Don't", Naiyah said, confusing the Warrior. Why didn't she want him to save her? Didn't she want to live?
"Naiyah…" he started when she cut in with
"I don't want you to save me"
"You saved me so many times", the Warrior said, trying to hold back the tears "just this once let me save you", he pleaded.
"You can't. This is it for me", the blonde told him "End of my story". The look in her eyes told him that she'd had one of her 'feelings' about this moment. She knew that she was going to die here and now.
"I can't go on without you", the Time Lord admitted, his voice trembling with emotion.
"Yes you can", the Time Lady assured him. She then reached up, tenderly touching his face "just promise me something".
"Anything", the Warrior vowed.
"Never be cruel or cowardly. Never give up, never give in. Always be the Doctor never the Warrior", the blonde whispered.
The Time Lord nodded "I promise".
Naiyah gave him a small smile before she removed her locket with shaking hands "take it", she said "please". The Warrior took it and carefully put it in his pocket. "I love you", she murmured before her eyes fluttered shut.
"I love you too", the Warrior said quietly, tears rolling down his face. He held the Time Lady as he cried, mourning her. No more… he thought. She was going to be the last casualty of this war.
"She's beautiful", Naiyah heard a female voice say. She blinked in confusion when she saw that she was standing at the foot of a hospital bed, Sarah Jane in it, holding a bundle in her arms. Her husband…presumably standing next the bed. Curious, the Time Lady made her way around to get a closer look at the baby. The blonde gasped as the startlingly familiar purple eyes.
"I don't believe it", she whispered, stepping back.
Suddenly her surroundings shifted, showing her Sarah Jane's daughter playing on the swings for the very first time. The images then shifted again almost too fast for her to catch but what she did see was reminiscent of the visions she'd received when looking into the time vortex.
Eventually the image slowed to show a much older version of Sarah Jane's daughter laughing with a ginger haired girl about the same age. There wasn't many things that Naiyah didn't understand and she hated to admit that the reasons for being shown this girl still eluded her. And it was maddening to be shown this girl again especially now that she was dead. It wasn't like she could do anything about it now… the blonde's eyes widened as it just struck her. "Oh of course…" she breathed. It all made sense now. The things she did around the TARDIS….her bond with her best friend's companion….why she gave her locket to the Doctor.
"Did you see that guy's face Val?" 18 year old Raelyn asked.
"Yeah, I don't think he was expecting the two of us to kiss", 'Val' chuckled.
"Well, considering how hard he was flirting…" the brunette remarked.
"Uh that was NOT flirting", the ginger cut in "I've seen pineapples with more ability to flirt than…what was his name again?"
Raelyn laughed loudly and answered with "Jack something, I think" she chuckled again, putting an arm around her shoulders, kissing her temple "I love how your mind works, Valerie" she stated.
"And I love you, Rae", Valerie proclaimed, stopping just by the entrance of an alleyway. She went to kiss the brunette when they both heard a groan. The two of them glanced into the alleyway to see a brown haired man in a suit, doubled over.
Naiyah moved forward to get a closer look and gasped for the second time. The stranger shrouded in partial darkness was the Doctor! He looked different but she KNEW it was him. The blonde smiled, tears welling up in her eyes. Seeing him here…seeing him alive…it gave her a sense of peace.
A golden light caught her eye. She glanced at it and sighed. Looks like it was time for her to go…for now. The Time Lady looked back at the trio. "See you on the other side Time Boy", she whispered, turning on her heel, walking a few steps before she stepped into the golden light and disappearing. The two teenagers and Time Lord being none the wiser that she was even there.
