Chapter 10: Threats

"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. What if they split?"

"Cons don't just 'split'." Kup grumbled. "Especially if they want something, or in this case, someone."

Dante looked back at Titilayo. "If they try and lay a finger on Silk, Titi will destroy them."

"Exactly," the woman smirked, her eyes going to the old mech next to them. "You think they'll try and come after her, ba?"

"I do." Kup huffed. "She's valuable, and the only reason she's out with M right now is because she's using a holoform, and her real body is still here. She's a youngling and shouldn't be involved in all this anyway. Honestly, I just want to get her home."

Ayal leaned back in his chair. "Honestly, I think they're waiting for us to slip up and reveal our location. But that isn't happening. Tipesh… And while they can find Wick, I doubt they'd be stupid enough to attack a town outright. Not even Megatron in all his desperation did that."

"Are we absolutely sure they haven't left?"

"They haven't." Elita stepped toward them. "We've been monitoring the skies, and we would know. The fact that it's been nearly a month and we haven't heard anything worries me. The longer they're here, the more likely it is that they will call for backup, and that they will bring more danger to the humans."

"Then we just have to keep looking and be ready."

"That's so pretty!" Silk pressed her holoform hands against the window, staring at the pretty coat in front of her.

"And the best part is," Marissa laughed, "you just need to know the name and we can model it onto your holoform. No money required."

"That's so amazing." Patty laughed. "I wish I could do that. Then I could wear the best coats without the cost."

"Since when would you ever spend that much money on a coat?"

The girl smirked. "Never. Thrift shops usually have something better than these stores anyway. At least in my opinion. But sometimes they have some cute things."

"At least with clothes, you can change easily. Changing paint colors is a total pain, and there is no way to buy paint on Eukaris. It's something you have to make and do yourself, but I love being able to dress my holoform however I want."

"Oh, Marissa!"

The woman's face suddenly paled. "Oh no…"

A man with wavy dark brown hair and a mustache came striding over. "Aw, is that any way to talk to your old friend?"

"Friend!? You robbed me, you a-" She caught herself, glancing at the kids, "you glitch-head!"

"Always so creative with those insults, M."

Silk leaned over to Patty. "Who is he?"

"That's Dirk Manus, Marissa's ex-boyfriend. When she broke up with him, he stole money from her and ended up arrested."

"Ohhhh."

"What are you doing out of prison?" The woman snapped.

Dirk grinned. "I got out on parole."

"Great, I thought I'd have to wait another three years to go get a restraining order."

"Oh, don't be that way, M."

"Don't call me M!"

The teenagers giggled, knowing very well that if Marissa wanted to, she could completely end this guy without a second thought.

And honestly, both of them kind of wanted to watch it happen.

"Hello."

The girls turned to see a tall woman with long black hair, dressed in purple come walking toward them.

"May I help you?" Patty raised an eyebrow."

"I would like a word with Silk Spinner." Both girls tensed, glancing back at the currently distracted Marissa. "Don't worry, I'm not here to kill you… at the moment."

"Slipstream-"

Patty put herself between Silk and Slipstream's holoform, standing tall, eyes hard. "What do you want?"

"Brave youngling…" Studying the girl, the Decepticon holoform looked past her to Slipstream. "How is life with the Autobots, Silk? I assume you like them, and these humans, since you visited that location in the jungle with them, and you're wandering around like this."

"You don't have to answer that."

"She doesn't have to."

Grabbing at Patty's sleeve, Silk shook. "Th-they don't lie and trick me, like you did. They take care of me."

Slipstream didn't respond. Her gaze level on the younglings before sighing. "Other than when you stopped our assault on that human military instillation, have you had any other oracles to aid them."

This time, Patty took Silk's hand, looking the femme's holoform straight in the eyes. "That's need-to-know intel, for Autobots only, Con."

"You're either very brave or very stupid, human."

"I don't like Cons, and I don't tolerate bullies. Right now, you're scaring my friend and if you don't back off I'll get our other friend's attention, and you've already seen that, human or not, she can hold her own."

Silk blinked, looking at the human youngling who stood there, confident, glare unwavering in the face of the Decepticon.

Slipstream smirked, "Very well. Then I have a warning for you. Since you seem to like humans so much, for every oracle you use against us, and we know, a human town gets destroyed. And you won't know which one."

Silk's body shuddered as she clung to Patty.

No…

Not again-

"Marissa!" Patty stepped forward as the woman turned. "Slipstream is here!"

The woman shoved Dirk away before going to Patty's side, glaring at the holoform. "Wanna dance, Con? I'd be happy to oblige."

The holoform laughed before waving. "You couldn't hurt me if you tried. See you soon, Silk Spinner." With a shimmer, her holoform vanished.

"What the heck was that!?"

"Shut up, Dirk." Marissa turned, kneeling before the shaking Silk. "Are you ok?"

"No- I'm not."

"Let's get you out of sight." Pushing past Dirk, they quickly moved Silk to an alleyway. "Deactivate your holoform now. No one can see."

"But-"

"We'll be fine," Patty nodded. "Slipstream said only when you tell oracles. Just go and tell Elita and my dad."

With a nod, the youngling vanished.

Back at base, her real form gasped, stumbling off her berth as she ran for the door. "Elita! Elita!"

"Silk?" Star Saber got to her first, his optics taking in her panic in a moment. "What happened?"

"Slipstream! She had a holoform and came to Wick."

"What!?"

Saber knelt down, his gentle optics looking into hers. "Did she hurt anyone?"

"No, Patty and Marissa told her off. But she says if I tell you an oracle that stops their plans and they find out, they'll destroy a random human town!"

"Fraggers!" Kup snapped.

"Kup! Language."

"Why!? Those fragging Cons are more unhinged than ever."

Elita held up a hand. "Then we tread carefully. Silk, unless the oracle is dire or has nothing to do with the Decepticons, don't tell us. We don't want anyone to die, and I know you don't either."

"But what if it IS dire?"

"Then we work smart." Nautica smiled. "We just find a way to get the intel ourselves in a way that doesn't implicate you."

Saber stood up, calling Patty on his comlink as Moonracer came over to the youngling. "We've got your back. We promise."

"I know…"

"Marissa will tell the others, and I'll inform the council of this event." Elita sighed. "We will handle this. Don't worry."

But still, Silk couldn't help but worry.

More lives in danger because of her.

If humans died because of her, she couldn't live with herself.

No more death…

"Humans are so stupid." Flamewar laughed. "That youngling needs to die for her attitude."

Slipstream sat, staring into the darkness outside the window. "She knew who I was. The Autobots have more allies than we thought."

"Why a youngling though?" Blackjack mused. "They don't seem the type to drag them into a war."

"Shadow Striker, find out more about this youngling."

"Yes ma'am."

Standing up, Slipstream smirked. "I'll destroy her eventually, but I think we watch Silk Spinner. If anyone is going to slip up it will be her. The humans involved are far too coordinated and prepared to slip up easily. And just knowing where the humans are located is not enough."

"Why not just snag one of those humans and interrogate them? I'd love to peel the flesh of that Marissa femme." Flamewar snickered.

"Do you really think she, or any of them would give us anything?" Blackjack laughed. "We just watched a youngling stand up to our boss and threaten her. A random human, maybe we could torture intel out of, if they knew anything. But these ones won't be so easy, and knowing you, you'd kill them before we could get anything out of them."

"Well… true."

Hotlink huffed. "We should've leveled that town instead of talking."

"Yes! And left a crater in the name of the great Primus! A shrine to his great name!"

"For Primus' sake, SHUT UP!"

"Silence." Slipstream held up a hand. "No need to argue amongst ourselves. I would rather not incite the humans against us quite yet. While their weapons are far more primitive, having a large force against us, along with the Autobots, could cause issues. So, if we do strike, we strike fast so that no one but the Autobots knows what has happened, and then we leave."

"Understood."
