CHAPTER 11
No more less than a few days have gone by in the hospital. And just as Gil had planned. The whole room the Lab Gang were in had become filthy. Everywhere you look in the room was covered with dust, from the floors, to the cots, to every inch and corner of the room.
"Look at that, will you look at that. Filthy, absolutely filthy" Gil proudly admired the filth and dust all around the room, giving a slight cough. Since jamming the fan to the air system, acting as a air purifier as well, it was a little hard to get breathable air, as well as air flow to make the room cool. But it will all be worth it in the end.
"And it's all thanks to you Kid, you made it possible" Gil turned to the young boy by his side. Nemo couldn't help but chuckle at the compliant feeling proud of what he'd accompished.
"Jacques! I said no cleaning!" Gil frowned at the French man. Jacque, who was on the ground with a rag on hand, was scrubbing the floor to make it clean. He stopped looking up at the dark haired man glaring at him "I am ashamed" he said, looking down forgetting about the plan.
Peach who sat in her usual spot was having a bit fun. "I never thought I could have fun making dust smiley faces" she couldn't help but laugh at the smiley faces she drew on the window with her finger and continued making more to her enjoyment. Gil and Nemo watched the pink haired woman as she seemed to be having the time.
Meanwhile, everyone else was having a bit of trouble adapting to this filth in the room, Gurgle especially.
To Gurgle it was a total nightmare for him. Ever place and corner he went to he cringed, whimpered and screamed at all the dust and germs that he could get infected by, running away to a different part of the room, only to end up doing the same thing, going around in circles as he continued to freak out in the dust covered filth of a room.
"Bubbles! I love the Bu-!" Bubbles was just playing with his bubble machine as usual, however due to the dust getting into the bubble mix, it made the bubbles seem more dirty looking. When he tried to grab the bubbles, they popped releasing more dirt and filth in his face, making Bubbles cough even more so.
"Flo? Has anybody seen Flo? Flo?" Deb called out to her 'sister.' Seeing that all the mirrors and windows, including her own hand mirror was so filthy, so it was impossible to see her reflection and talk to her 'sister.' She had been searching to see where Flo was hiding, but couldn't find her anyway. Continuing to search around the room and calling out for her.
"Okay, here comes Sherman with our room checkup!" Peach called out with a cough, getting everyone's attention. And just as she warned, she watched as Sherman and Dr. Hunter were making rounds, almost coming up to their room.
Gurgle ran to a corner trying so hard to get away from all this, he ended up right near Bloat. One look at the hefty man made Gurgle almost want to puke. Bloat looked more dirty than the room itself and his hygiene was more awful than normal "Bloat look at yourself, you look disgusting!" "Nah, I seem okay, little dirt never hurt anybody" he shrugged, picking his teeth with his dirty fingers and burped. Gurgle cringed at the sight of him. "Don't you all release we haven't been properly hygiene in a while!? We're all probably wearing the same-!"
"Here they come everyone! Line up!" Peach cut Gurgle off.
And with that, all were lining up, getting ready, but all were still coughing.
Sherman entered the code to the door, he and Dr. Hunter walked right on in "What in God's name!?" Sherman exclaimed, surprised by the mess and filth of this room. "Now how'd this room get so filthy? What were you animals doing?" Sherman examined the room, using his finger to wipe dust off the wall. Dr. Hunter walked over to the Lab Gang, examining them, seeing them coughing. He even took a big whiff and backed away in disgust.
"Sherman, these lot don't look too good" Dr. Hunter informed him "They look like they haven't had air in this room for days, and they especially look like they haven't showered for days" Dr. Hunter looked back at the gang, seeing they looked worse.
Sherman eyed the Lab Gang, he too examined each of them head to toe, and he took a whiff, backing away in disgust. He then turned his attention to the vents. "Something must've happened with the air system. Must've jammed and they're not getting enough pure air to breath" he began to deduce the situation.
"And if there's one thing I can't stand, it's smelly patients" he muttered to himself. "What do you suppose we do?" Dr. Hunter asked, looking around the room again. "Darla will be here no more than tomorrow" he added, knowing that Sherman's niece will be there. Having no choice, Sherman gave a frustrated sighed "She won't like it, but I'll give her a call to reschedule. In the mean time, we'll all get together and clean up this mess!" Sherman informed Dr. Hunter.
Dr. Hunter and Sherman were about to leave, when Dr. Hunter stopped to turned to the Lab Gang, still coughing. "And for the 'Lab Gang' sir?" "While we're cleaning their room, they should get cleaned up and checked too, then will stick them in one of the other rooms until we finish up this room for them" Sherman replied, giving him a shrug seeing it was just a simple plan. Dr. Hunter gave a small approval hum and walked behind Sherman, closing the door behind him.
The Lab Gang relaxed, all couldn't help but smile at the news. "Hear that Sharkbait?" Gil turned to Nemo with a laugh "Yay! He's gonna clean the room! He's gonna clean the room! We're gonna get outta here all cleaned!" Nemo jumped around for joy, making the adults laugh at the boy's excitement.
"Are you ready to see you're dad, Kid" "Uh huh" "Course you are" Gil and Nemo walked over to the window "You know, I wouldn't be surprised if he's out in Sydney's streets just waiting for you right now" Gil told him, both turned to the bared window.
"Yeah..." Nemo smiled, looking through that same window, still feeling the same hope that his Dad was indeed out there, waiting for him.
He couldn't wait for tomorrow! He would finally be free and be back in his dad's awaiting arms.
However, a few short miles away from Sydney, the garbage truck that was driven by the strange Garbage Nomad continued to drive, as if it was just a normal drive. Just continuing his business behind the wheel, driving to who knows where.
Inside the garbage truck, contained two people. One was just relaxing in the garbage, while the other one was banging and kicking to be let out.
Marlin was the one trying so hard to get out of the garbage truck that he didn't care if his fists, or feet were getting tired or hurt from all the banging. He still continued to try and ram to the garbage truck's side, hoping to at least make some sort of sound to get some attention, but no such luck.
Dory on the other hand was having the time of her life. She was just watching Marlin trying to ram himself to the truck's side, but soon had her attention towards the garbage. Looking through the trash, seeing all kinds of interesting things people had thrown away. To her she was seeing interesting treasures that could still be used in some ways.
"Wow! Check this out! Who'd want to throw this away" Dory exclaimed, holding up a broke parasol, twirling it around. "Come on! There's plenty of old stuff here that can be still used and fixed" she called out to him, looking through more stuff she found.
Marlin grew more frustrated "Will you just stop playing in the garbage!" he yelled at her, making her look back up at him. "Don't you see we're stuck in a garbage truck!" "A garbage truck?" "Yes! Because you wanted to ask for directions, then you offended a Garbage Nomad! You said that he wouldn't be violent, but now look where we are!" Marlin walked away from Dory and continued to try and ram to the side.
Dory just looked around the garbage truck they were in and shrugged seeing that it didn't bother her at all. "Huh? Funny, I don't know much of Garbage Nomads, but I do know how to speak their language" she turned back to the man. "No, you're insane! You can't speak their language! They don't even have a language!" Marlin yelled and continued to bang on the side of the truck.
"I have to get out! I have to find my son!" Marlin continued banging his fists on the side "I need to tell him about the Sea Romani! I have to tell him how...old...sea turtles are!" he continued banging on the side, banging as he yelled out.
Marlin stopped and panted, he turned until he was leaning on his back, he couldn't help but cry and slide down the side. Sitting down and cried, seeing that he had come so far. But now it seemed like he will never get out. He had given up.
Marlin felt so at lost, after everything that's happened to him up to this point. He couldn't imagine what Coral would do or say if she saw him like this. He made a promise, but now it seemed like he couldn't do it to keep that promise.
Dory continued to look through the trash, unaware of her partner's feelings right now. She whooped as she found another treasure "Now this would be fun at the beach!" she held up an old beach ball, it may had a hole but with a little fixing up it will still be useful to play with.
Dory didn't hear anything, she looked over to where Marlin sat "Hey, you okay?" she asked, walking over to him.
Marlin didn't look up or respond, he just sat looking down, pulling his knees in his chest. He then pulled something out, seeing it was Nemo's treasured stuffed clownfish. He just stared sadly at the plush in his hands, feeling more given up than ever. Dory couldn't help but feel sorry for the man.
Dory continued to stare at her partner as he carefully held onto the stuffed clownfish, seeing that was one important treasure he had as a reminder of his son.
To Dory she may not remember much, nor if she remembers her own family, but she knew in her heart that Marlin was going through a lot since they first met. Ever since hearing about his son, Dory couldn't help but feel much sadness, being away or taken away from someone they cared and love.
Dory did the only thing she could do to cheer Marlin up.
"There there, it's alright. It'll be okay" she softly told him, wrapping her arms around, giving the man a hug.
Marlin appreciated what Dory was trying to do. But it still didn't help him "No, no it won't" "Yes it will" "No, I promised him I'd never let anything happen to him." Marlin didn't looked up at Dory, he pulled the stuffed plush in his chest along with his knees in tight to him. Hearing this, Dory looked up a little confused "That's a funny thing to promise" was all she said.
Hearing her, Marlin looked up at her "What?" he asked her. Dory looked back to him "Well, you can't never let anything happen to him. Then nothing would ever happen to him" she told him with a little side shrug. Hearing this Marlin was surprised to hear, even coming from Dory. "Not much fun for little Harpo." she added with a smile.
Seeing her smile made Marlin slowly smile, he didn't even corrected her forgetting his son's name again. However what Dory had said, she did had a point. If he never did let anything happen to Nemo, than he would never experience the world. Neither would he for that matter. Ever since this journey to find his son, Marlin had began to slowly come out of his shell.
Thinking to what Dory had said, Marlin turned back to the stuffed clownfish and was in deep thought with himself. Deep down, Marlin knew he had a lot to think of and a lot to talk about to his son.
Suddenly both of them felt a jerk, having a feeling the garbage truck has stopped.
"What's going on?" Marlin asked, looking around as he put the stuffed clownfish away for safe keeping. "Don't know? Maybe I can ask him?" Dory shrugged. She got back up and cupped her hands as she tried to yell in Garbage Nomad language, hoping that the Garbage Nomad could hear her from inside the truck.
"WwwwwHHHaaaaaatttt'ssss GGGGGggooooooiiiiiinnnnnggggg OoooooonNNNNN?" she called out in the language. "Ssssssttttttoooooooopppppppppeeddd!" a voice from outside yelled out.
Dory listened closely to that voice and what he had said "I think he means we've stopped?" she said translating. Marlin just rolled his eyes and got up beside her "Of course we've stopped! We just felt the truck literally stop! Just stop trying to speak his so called language" he said to her "You're gonna make things worse" he added.
All of a sudden they began to hear something. "Oh no...now you've done it!" Marlin said, looking around at the sound. He looked to see the walls of the truck were closing in on them. And with the walls slowly closing in, the garbage around was also moving and beginning to squish together.
"The walls are closing in! The walls are closing in!" Marlin began to panic, seeing that the walls were slowly closing in on them "Really, you sure? I didn't noticed?" Dory seemingly calm looked around, seeing that there was few space. "Already, we're losing space! It's half little space to move about!" Marlin looked around, beginning to panic even more, Dory however saw it a different way "Huh? I say it's half full space we got?" "Stop that! It's half little!"
Just then Dory perked up her ears as she heard some kind of low moaning language coming from the Garbage Nomad from outside. But it was hard to make it out what he said.
As such Marlin was panicking more and more, seeing as the garbage around them was starting to squish them in.
"Okay, it sounded a little tricky there." Dory spoke and she was trying to translate what was said. "He either said we're going to be part of a trash pile to get heated up. Or, he's gonna drop us off onto a pile before things get heated up" she told Marlin what she translated. Marlin didn't like that sound of either of those. "Heated up!? Don't you see he's gonna drop us off to be incinerated!" Marlin yelled out and became more panic than ever.
"We gotta get out, we're not garbage! You tell him that!" Marlin ran around trying so hard to push back the walls "Okay, I'll tell him. HHHHHeeeee-" "Stop talking to him!" Marlin cut Dory by placing his hand onto her mouth.
Suddenly the walls began to move in closer and faster, Marlin and Dory screamed as they both had their backs to the walls, trying to use all their weights to push. Marlin found a rusty pipe and raised it up. It stopped the walls from coming in, but since it was an old rusty pipe, it wouldn't hold for long. So Both Marlin and Dory, still having their backs to the walls, tried their best to climb out. But with all the garbage squishing them, it was hard for them to move about.
"Now what's going on?!" Marlin yelled out "I'll check!" Dory yelled back, she began to moan out but was stopped by Marlin. "No! No more! That's not Garbage Nomad language! That's nonsense! You can't speak it!" "Yes I can!" Dory cried out to him.
"No you can't! You think you can do these things but you can't Nemo!" Marlin shouted out. Only to stop and stare wide eyed for what he just said. It was the same thing he said to his son right before he got captured.
Dory just looked at him with a hurt and confused wide eyed expression.
Dory then heard the moaning from outside, coming from the Garbage Nomad outside. He was telling her something in a moan to which Dory somehow understood what he said. "Okay" was all she said and moved away from the wall "Dory!" Marlin cried out, grabbing her in his arms just in time before she sank and became the squished trash pile. He used his back pushing his weight on one side while using his legs to try and push the other wall.
Marlin couldn't hold on anymore, even he knows that. But he wasn't about to give up on them, he knew they just had to get out of the truck alive.
"He said it's time to let go! Everything's gonna be alright! He will not let us get squished or be incinerated!" Dory looked up at him, shouting to him to trust her on this. "How do you know?! How do you know something bad isn't gonna happen?!" Marlin cried back at her "I don't! But I know we'll not be burned up or be garbage! Please trust me!" Dory cried at him, looking up with pleading eyes.
Marlin looked at the blue haired woman in his arms, looking deep into her eyes. He looked around seeing they were almost squished, or be made like garbage piles. He had no choice, he just hoped Dory was right.
The pipe finally broke and he dropped all his weight from his back and legs, holding close to Dory as they were trapped under more garbage.
When suddenly they both screamed as they felt like they were being lifted up and thrown out of the truck. Both continued to scream as they soon found themselves landed on another trash pile.
Marlin and Dory opened their eyes, and saw they were out of the garbage truck, they were not squished nor were they gonna be burned by the incinerator. They were safe and sound on the ground with the rest of the trash laying about.
"We're alive!" Marlin cheered, laughing as he shot up from his place. He noticed he was still holding onto Dory, he let her go and blushed, Dory had a faint blush on her cheeks.
Then something caught her eyes "Hey, look on that truck!" Dory noticed a different garbage truck "Syd...Sydney! Sydney! And over there, Sydney again!" she pointed to all the trucks, seeing that had the same logos with the words Sydney.
Marlin and Dory then looked around seeing these Sydney logo trucks, they must've landed at the Sydney dump. Both turned, both had smiles on their faces to see what they saw.
Behind them they had a good view of the city of Sydney and it's glowing city lights lighting up in the night.
They had made it! They had finally made it to Sydney!
"You were right, Dory! We made it! We're gonna find my son!" Marlin cheered, once again giving the woman a hug. They then heard a sound from behind them, both looked to see the garbage truck they had just been in.
They stopped to look up to see the Garbage Nomad staring at them through the window, he then gave a smile and a wave "GGGGGGoooooodddddd LLllllluuuuuucckkkkk ffffFFFiiiiiIIIIINNNNnnnDDDDDddiiiiiNnnnnGGGG YyyyooooOOUUUurrr ssooooOONNn!" surprisingly said the Garbage Nomad, waving them goodbye and drove off into the the night in the garbage truck once again before he was seen by anybody else working in the dump.
"TTTTTtthhhhHHHAAAAaaaanHHHHKKKk YYYYyoooOOooouuuuuu, SSSSSsssiiiiirrrrr!" Marlin waved back, thanking him in Garbage Nomad language, he didn't care if he sounded ridiculous, he was just beyond happy they had finally made it. Dory looked at Marlin with a impressed smile "Wow. I wish I could speak Garbage Nomad, such a really interesting language." Dory said to herself, she shrugged it off.
"Okay. All we gotta do is find the truck that took him." Marlin got himself together, both he and Dory began to make their way out of the dump. "Right! So where to next partner?" Dory asked him "We should go to the impound, see if there's any trucks there that match" Marlin turned to her with a answer.
"Come on, Dory. We can do this!" Marlin told her, having a new positive attitude. Dory smiled at the man and began to follow behind him.
Now that they both had finally made it to Sydney, they were just about close to finding where Nemo is held.
However both parties, Marlin and Dory as well as Nemo and the Lab Gang, have no idea that by the morning they were in for a shocking surprise.
