It's been only a week since Katherine came home, and she already wishes that she was back in her dorm at college. All week, the club has been coming around, and it's driving Katherine crazy. Katherine loves her uncles, especially her grandfather. But do they really need to have their club meetings at the house? Especially at eight in the morning? While the club has been hanging around the house all week, Katherine has been up in her room working on an article for the Charming newspaper. She's doing a story about growing up in Charming. Of course, she left SAMCRO out of the story. Even though Katherine is Jax Teller and Tara Knowles-Teller's daughter, and she grew up in this life and around the club, doesn't mean it's her life. Katherine left Charming and the life for a reason. Katherine has plans for her future after college, and it has nothing to do with the club.
When Katherine first learned about her parents' past, especially her mother's, she realized that she didn't want to live a life of crime. Katherine loved and respected both of her parents immensely; however, she desired a different life for herself. Her family respected and supported her decision.
While Katherine was finishing up her article she heard someone knocking on her bedroom door." Come in." She said as she put her article into her desk drawer as she didn't want anyone to know about it just yet.
Thomas stuck his head as soon as he opened Katherine's door." Hey, mom was wondering if you were gonna come down for lunch."
" Is the club still here?" Katherine asked as she wanted to make sure they weren't still around.
Thomas shook his head." They went to Scoops."
Katherine just nods her head as she got up from her desk and followed her little brother downstairs toward the kitchen." What's for lunch today?" She asked as she walked into the kitchen and noticed her mom was standing behind the kitchen island.
" Hey sweetie." Tara said with a smile." Just chicken wrap." She said as she handed both Thomas and Katherine each a plate." How's you're article going?" She asked as she also grabbed her plate and joined them at the table.
" It's going good so far actually. I just need to finish it up and it should be ready for tomorrow." Katherine said as she took a huge bite of her chicken wrap.
" What's your article about?" Thomas asked as he took a drink of his beer.
" Life and in Charming, what it was like growing up here." Katherine answered as she took another bite before taking a drink of her ice tea.
Thomas nodded his head as he took another drink of his beer. "Did you mention the club?"
"No, and why would I? I know Samcro is very well-known in this town, and we've all grown up around it. But I don't have to write about it in my article." The main reason Katherine wants the job at the Charming Newspaper is so she can have her own life and not have to worry about the club.
Well, whatever you write, I'm sure you will get that job." Tara said as she took a sip of her coffee. Tara always supported and encouraged her children no matter what they did in life. When her sons got older, they wanted to start prospecting into the club. Of course, Tara had her doubts about it mainly because she knew how it was with the club. But unlike her sons, Katherine just wanted a normal life and something outside the club. Even though Tara loved Jax and their family, a part of her kind of wished she had a normal life and wasn't an old lady to a club member. Of course, if Tara had a chance for a normal life back then, then she wouldn't have met Jax or even married him and she definitely wouldn't have the family she always wanted.
" Thanks Mom, so how are things going at the hospital?"
" Everything seems pretty good at St. Thomas actually, besides back to back surgeries and having to deal with Murphy on a daily bases of course." Tara said with a chuckle.
" Murphy still giving you a hard time about the club?"
"Not so much like she used to in the past, thankfully. But she still doesn't like it when your dad or anyone from the club comes through St. Thomas unannounced though." Tara has been a neonatal doctor at St. Thomas for nearly twenty years now, and every time Jax or Happy, or just about anyone else from the club would stop by, Murphy always had something to say. But luckily, Murphy doesn't say much anymore. She just walks away every time Jax or anyone from the club stops by.
" I know we haven't really had the chance to catch up since you've been home. How are you doing with your studies?" Tara asked.
" I think I'm doing pretty good so far. I did fail my English test but my Professor was able to let me do extra credit to bring up my grade." Katherine said as she shrugs her shoulders a little.
"So, how's the clubhouse rebuild coming along?" Katherine asked. Katherine remembered the night the clubhouse got blown up in pieces. Luckily everyone was able to get out in time and no one was hurt. It was the last time Katherine was in Charming.
Tara exhales deeply." It's going slow but it's getting there."
Thomas suddenly felt his phone vibrating in his pocket. Jax had told Thomas to stay back with Tara and Jennifer until something important came up. Pulling his phone out, he noticed it was Abel calling him."Excuse me, guys, but I have to take this." He said as he got up from the table and walked out of the kitchen.
"I'm going back upstairs to finish my article. Thanks for lunch, Mom." Katherine said as she also excused herself and headed back upstairs to work on her article. She just hopes it will get her the job tomorrow.
Walking through the doors of Charming News, Katherine walked up to the front desk." Good morning, I am here for my nine o'clock interview with your editor, Mr. Jones. He's expecting me." Katherine said as she set a large yellow envelope that held her article on the desk.
The woman at the desk looked up from whatever she was doing and snorted." Are you here for the journalist job?" She asked in disbelief.
Katherine wouldn't love more than to slap the taste out of this woman's mouth for being a rude bitch. But she can't risk missing her interview and she wants this job." Is Mr. Jones available?" She asked as she rolled her eyes.
The other woman sighed exasperatedly and rolled her eyes." Have a seat, and I will check to see if he's available."
"Thanks." Katherine said with a fake smile as she grabbed her article and walked away from the desk." Stupid bitch." Katherine muttered under her breath.
Twenty minutes later Katherine was sitting in Mr. Jones's office as she watched him read her article. As she continued to watch him, Katherine started to feel a little nervous.
"Well, what do you think of my article?"
Setting the article down on his desk after reading it. Mr. Jones took a deep breath after he removed his reading glasses and set them aside." You really have an talent for writing, and I think you would do very well as a journalist for our Newspaper."
Katherine let out a breath she had been holding as she couldn't believe she actually got the job so easily. "Really? You're actually giving me the job?" She asked, wanting to make sure.
"Not quite yet. I need you to write a story about the school shooting that happened a few months ago. Interview everyone who was involved and have the article ready for the next issue by Monday morning. Do you think you can handle that?"
" When you say everyone, what do you mean exactly?"
" I mean, talk to the parents, the police if you have to and your club."
"My club? Why would you think they know anything about the school shooting?" Katherine asked in confusion. Katherine knows the club is behind a lot of things, but that doesn't mean they are behind this. There's no way.
" I don't, but I think it would be a good idea if you talk to them. But if you think it's going to be a problem Ms. Teller, maybe you can find another job."
Katherine sighed deeply."I will have the article ready for you by Monday morning. It won't be a problem. Thanks for your time, Mr. Jones." Katherine said as she stood up and shook the man's hand before walking out of his office.
Getting behind the wheel of her truck, Katherine sighed heavily as she leaned back against her seat and pinched the bridge of her nose. She didn't know how she was going to tell her dad and the club about the school shooting. She didn't even know if she was going to write the article.
AN: I'm still trying to figure out where I want to take this story. But here's a new chapter. Leave some reviews xD.
