Chapter 3
Meanwhile…
They inspected the alleyway.
A disgruntled sigh soon filled the air as Uraume aimed their discontent towards Kenjaku. "Another plan and promise broken… YOU said I would have my master back as long as everything went according to your plan… well… where is my master?!"
Kenjaku himself as at a loss at this point.
He inspected the alleyway time and time again, but he only found the dagger he used against Sukuna and shoes with feet still stuck in them from their pervious owner.
But none of this made any sense!
"I did everything right," he muttered to himself. The dragon gave the dagger to him, the plan was also the dragon's, since the dagger itself was infused with a curse to corrupt.
"What troubles me was the master didn't have their power… how could he lose his curse energy in such a manner?" Uraume asked aloud.
"Not my concern" Kenjaku stated. "I want to figure out what had happened here… The blood slicks are from the legions we left behind, that I know. But we are distinctly missing Tooru blood in this alleyway aren't we?"
Uraume went over the pathway as well, they inspected various matter between their fingers, but sneered at the sight of it all. "Master is not this neat of an eater," They decreed with bitter disappointment. "Which means, your plan didn't work…"
"Let's not be too hasty there," Kenjaku said. But it did bother him. He did everything right. That curse should have corrupted Sukuna's mind, destroyed his heart and any lingering attachments. He then noticed the dagger still lying on the ground. He sighed and picked up the blade. The curse long dispelled after being used, there was no lingering energy so it must have done the job.
"This should have… worked…" he paused, as he held the dagger by the handle, aimed the tip down, Sukuna's blood slowly rolled down the steel and yet… there were words forming.
"What… what is that?" Uraume asked in slight disbelief.
"You see the words too?" Kenjaku asked as he brought the dagger into the light.
However, the words he read… boiled his blood.
"What… IMPOSSIBLE!" he roared in anger. "This… THIS CAN'T BE!"
Uraume took the dagger from him and read the words. They froze.
In fact, Uraume appeared rather pale. "This is impossible." They decreed.
"Indeed, impossible! And yet…" He took the dagger back and read the words written in blood.
'You got away with it before, we won't let it happen again. Better luck next time! XOXO The Toorus.'
The words boiled his blood, even though most are dead, they still managed to cause such havoc to his plans? But… wait.
"Sukuna… didn't have curse energy when I stabbed his heart," Kenjaku said aloud.
"So?"
"He should be dead if that's the case, shouldn't he?"
"Master is far more resilient…"
"Oh shut up about your so called master! He's not the same master you served!" Kenjaku snapped. "No, when I stabbed him, I felt a binding vow on him. It took away his curse energy… therefore he should have died… but there is no body to be found, no blood trail… nothing… which begs to question, what happened?"
Uraume was silent on the matter, but they appeared to be thinking of something else. "Do you have anything to add?"
They appeared to be considering their options, but, Uraume kept silent.
"How did that lizard not see this on the blade?" Kenjaku muttered to himself.
The plan for the most part when off without a hitch, that is until he started getting phone calls.
"The slayers at the old brewery… have been found dead"
"Dead? To my knowledge, the curse wombs did not make it in time. I was informed that four weapons were charged by the curse womb Noritoshi Kamo…"
"We inspected the place, but we found no remains of the curse, as well, he had his children with him, their bodies are not here. But all the slayers have been killed by a single puncture wound. The place has been cleaned out too of the technology…"
Kenjaku sighed aloud. "It makes no sense, the bastard didn't have that kind of range let alone technique besides piercing blood. But that splatters…"
"There was also no curse blood in the wound."
"Just… stop," he pleaded. "We will speak of this later…" he turned his phone off for the moment. "What is happening now? The plan was perfect to an extend, and now, I am starting to feel it was an utter failure…"
"Perhaps this wasn't your plan, but another's?" suggested Uraume. "At any rate, I am no longer assisting you in the matter. I am going to regain my master without your help. For you have not been of any to me"
He waved off Uraume, he could care less at this point. All they talked about was Sukuna this, and Sukuna that. It will finally have a moment's peace!
As Uraume left, Kenjaku began to plan his next move.
"Perhaps there is something else that can be done…" he said aloud to himself.
