Chapter 6: Return

Early January of the new year was when Harry caught a break in his self-appointed task of hunting down the Death Eaters. After so long he'd finally managed to track down the last of Voldemort's most powerful Death Eaters, including the notorious Fenrir Greyback.

"You found him?" Ginny asked the question.

Greyback…

Fred's killer…

"He's at a Death Eater safehouse up in Scotland not far from the old Rookwood Castle," Harry answered.

"…I'm going with you," Ginny told him.

There was no way she was going to let him do this alone, not against Greyback of all people. she knew that he could handle himself but for her this was personal. Greyback hurt her dad, two of HER brothers, and killed another. She wanted to make him pay…

"Are you sure?" Harry asked her.

"I'm sure," she nodded and held out her hand.

"…Okay," he agreed and handed her a vial of Polyjuice potion.

She downed the whole lot and transformed into a young blond woman. After a little while to get used to her new body he then took her hand. With a pop they Apparated away to just outside of the wards surrounding the Death Eater safehouse.

"So what's the plan?" Ginny asked the question.

"I scouted this place earlier when I found it. There's a small opening in the wards large enough for us to slip through," Harry explained.

"I'm sensing a 'but' somewhere in there," Ginny commented knowingly.

"It's definitely a trap meant to ensnare anyone trying to breach the wards," Harry nodded. "There's two ways we can get in, one is by tearing down the wards and going straight in."

"Or springing the trap," Ginny concluded.

"What do you think?" Harry asked the question.

"Spring the trap," she answered without any hesitation.

"…Take this," he said as he quickly handed her his Invisibility Cloak. "We'll go in together and I'll draw their attention. Call me Owl when I'm like this and I'll call you Hawk, okay?"

"Okay," Ginny agreed.

"Please be careful Gin and stay safe," he spoke quietly.

"You too," Ginny told him.

A loud pop sounded as they breached the wards, slipping in through the gap and appearing in the middle of the courtyard. Ginny was already darting to the side under the invisibility cloak as Harry's wand came up and deflected a dark brown curse to the side. Three Death Eaters were already upon him and throwing curses only for them to knocked aside. Ginny circled around as Fenrir Greyback himself came into view; his face set in a permanent scowl.

"Petrificus Totalus!" Ginny called out as he threw the charm at the rogue werewolf. He must have smelled her or something because he threw himself to the side, narrowly avoiding the spell and quickly turned towards where she stood. "Stupefy!"

"Protego!" Greyback snarled as he batted the spell away with his shield. "Come out, come out, wherever you are!"

Ginny was already moving when he threw a barrage of red curses at where she had been standing a moment before. Ducking behind a pillar was soon followed by the cloak slipping off of her and revealing her position to the attacking werewolf.

He was on her in seconds…

"Expelli-" she started suddenly see him Apparate in front of her and reach out with his hand.

He caught her hand and squeezed forcing her to drop her wand. She wasn't going to let him get her however and quickly kicked him between the legs causing him to wince. He let go of her and she backpedalled away from him, her wand unfortunately out of reach.

"Hawk! Catch!" Harry shouted from behind her.

She glanced back at him as he threw something to her, and she caught it in midair. It was a very familiar wand—Voldemort's wand—and she quickly brought it up towards the werewolf. Greyback's eyes widened at the sight of it as her she felt her body start to ripple. The Polyjuice Potion was wearing off faster than anticipated she realised as her red hair came back and her body returned to normal.

"You," Greyback sneered at her. "I remember you, little girl. The one from the Weasley place that Bellatrix and I burned down years ago."

She remembered that day vividly…

"You took my brother from me and hurt my family. I won't let you hurt anyone else," Ginny spoke clearly as she raised the wand. "Bombarda!"

"Protego!" Greyback shouted as he shielded himself.

"Reducto!" she called out as a blue bolt of magic shot forth and his eyes widened in fear at the sight.

There was no time to dodge, only try to deflect it. His shield spell came up again but this time it cracked and obliterated his chest. He fell to one knee as she stood there in front of him. "Y-you b-bitch," he gritted out as he died gazing up at a Weasley, much like the ones he had attacked over the years.

Harry didn't take long to finish off the rest of them…

"Are you okay Gin?" Harry asked her once the battle was over.

"Yes," she said as she handed Voldemort's wand back to him and picked up her own. "I wondered what happened to Voldemort's wand."

"Something I picked up from the old Malfoy Manor," he told her.

"let's go before we are seen," Ginny Said before grabbing the cloak from where it lay, Ginny gabbed Harry hand with pop they were gone not before Kingsley appeared with some others from the ministry catching a glimpse of the two before they disappeared.

'Good, Harry made managed to neutralise Greyback,' Kingsley thought as he examined the battlefield. 'It's a good thing he didn't do a deep scan of my Auror when he captured her otherwise, he might not have taken too kindly to me setting him up like this. Still, he did the job and now Greyback is dead. Hopefully once he comes out of hiding, he will forgive me for misleading him like this…'

Time would tell…

"I still need time Gin I haven't seen your family in eighteen months they will be angry," harry told her as she ready to leave to the burrow.

"They won't Harry, please come with me," Ginny pleaded to him but he just shock his head.

"I can't Gin I'm sorry," Harry said Ginny just nodded before the pop told Harry that she was gone.

With Greyback gone Harry knew he should go back to the Weasley's to explain everything, but he didn't know what welcome he will get. He decided to follow Ginny to the Burrow after a couple of hours he apparated. The sound of the Weasleys could be heard though the door he took a deep breath before raising his hand to the door. Giving a knock on the door he waited for someone to answer the door. It opened and he saw Molly standing there.

"Harry," she gasps in shock.

"Hey Mrs Weasley, may I come in?" Harry asked.

"Mmm… yes of course," she hesitated as she stepped aside the nerves building in his stomach. Walking in to see Arthur, George, Ron, Hermione's and of course Ginny sitting at the table. "Please have a seat sorry we just finished eating."

"It's fine," Harry says trying to smile but his stomach was doing flips not sitting down out of fear. "I'm sorry for being away for so long."

"It's been eighteen months so where the hell you been?" Ron questioned he looked pissed.

"I have been tracking down Death Eaters," Harry answered to be meet by a laugh from Ron.

"So, you are the one that's been after the Death Eaters?" Arthur asked Harry just nodded. "Rookwood and Greyback bodies were found last night in Rookwood castle."

"There was two people spotted, who are you working with?" Hermione asked.

"Me," Ginny confessed. She gulped as everyone turned to her; she now understood what Harry fear was.

"What do you mean you Ginevra Molly Weasley," Molly bellowed across the kitchen.

"But you two have only been writing," George pointed out but he didn't look angry.

"That's not completely true," Ginny said she was about to explain when Ron started to shout.

"So, you have been lying to us all," Ron shot back. This was not going well. "My so-called mate abandoned us all and dragged you into it."

"Harry didn't drag me into any of this," Ginny said before anyone could respond. Ron has jumped out of his chair throwing Harry against the wall pinning me there.

"You might be the saviour of the wizarding world, but you do not take advantage of my sister," Ron shouted in his face before punching him in the gut. Then he let go so Harry hit the floor.

"Harry didn't take advantage of me!" Ginny shouted before running over to Harry.

"If that's the case I think it's best if you two leave," Molly said without letting Harry or Ginny explain. "You should not have lied Ginny."

"Really mum? You're kicking us out?" Ginny asked.

Molly didn't respond. Ginny helped Harry up leading him out the door with a pop they are back in Ginny's flat. They sat on the sofa numb Harry thought it would go bad just not that bad Ginny sat beside him. He could see tears falling down her face.

"I'm sorry Harry," she cried.

"It's not your fault Gin," Harry said pulling her towards him, she cuddled into his chest.

When Harry first Apparated into the Ministry of Magic for his appointment with Minister Shacklebolt he should have expected to be swarmed by people, most of them glad to see him. Even now after living in Wizarding World for so many years he still found it uncomfortable being famous for surviving Voldemort and his parents' sacrifice.

These days though he was more famous for finally killing Voldemort…

"Mister Potter!" crowed the voice of Rita Skeeter. "A word for our readers?!"

"Maybe later," he said as he pushed his way through the crowd towards the Minister's office.

"Right this way," a young auror gestured as she guided him to the door. "Mister Potter is here to see you sir."

"Send him in," Kingsley spoke from inside. Harry entered a moment later and the Minster rose to his feet. "Mister Potter, it's good to see you again."

"It's good to see you too Minister," Harry responded.

"Please have a seat," Kingsley said as he gestured to the chair.

"I received a message from Gringotts saying you wished to speak with me," Harry spoke clearly. "What can I do for you Minister?"

"I want you to keep doing what you've been doing all along," the Minister answered. "I want you to keep hunting down Death Eaters and their sympathizers."

"I don't know what you're talking about," Harry countered.

"I know you're the one who has been hunting Death Eaters," Kingsley told him. "Some you leave for us to arrest but most don't survive their encounters with you. The truth is that far too many of Voldemort's old followers escaped the Battle of Hogwarts and when we retook the Ministry. Some like Greyback we were able to locate and I had one of my people bring you the information."

"One of your aurors was a Death Eater?" Harry asked him.

"No, she was someone I had ordered be placed in position to either deliver Greyback's location to you or at least infiltrate a known Death Eater hideout," Kingsley explained. "Needless to say that I would like you to continue in a more official capacity until the remaining threats to our society are dealt with."

"You want me to be your personal assassin?" Harry questioned with a frown.

"Mister Potter, these days you seem more like a mercenary anyway," Kingsley mused. "I am willing to pay you just like I would the aurors. Truthfully, I want you to join the Auror Corps but I know that until the rest of the corruption has been rooted out of the Ministry, it's best if you continued operating on your own."

"…I'll think about it," Harry offered.

"That's all I ask," Kingsley nodded with a small smile.
