The year is 2023, and the Japanese music industry is at an all-time high. All over Japan, young talents are dazzling the masses with their high spirits and heavenly voices, whether as idols, normal singers, or even V-Tubers. In this, two corporations stand out in this explosion of popularity.
One is the forefront of entertainment known as Leblanc, home to legendary talents like the rock band Halyx to the rising star idol Starlight, and even dipped their feet into other fields to similar success. The other is the long-standing corporation known as CORRE, which houses many talents that quickly come and go. These two corporations have grown from humble beginnings and now stand at the top of the mountain.
However, not everything is bright and passionate in the idol industry. Recently, there have been several scandals against CORRE about how it treats its talents while Leblanc's 2019 audition was caught in the middle of the then-ongoing battle between the king of Hagukumi City and the Chrono Horsemen.
Now, a new threat emerges…
In a large rave, several siren-like creatures danced the night away while a group of fish-like monsters cheered the dancers on. Meanwhile, a mysterious man with purple eyes, light blue hair with two long horn-like locks running down his back, and a large bang of hair falling over his face watched over the masses. His outfit consisted of a set of ornate dark blue robes with red trimmings and a green sash.
"Tsk, soon… silence will fall in the name of my lord." He declared to himself, turning around to see three mysterious shadows appearing before himself to bow down. "What do you report?" he questioned them.
"Sir, it seems that the previous champion has chosen her successor." The first figure spoke, her voice having a sultry tone.
"It does not matter. The king or the champion can't protect the kid." The second figure stated as he lifted his large sword onto his shoulder.
"What must we do, lord Seymour?" the third figure asked, placing his hand to his heart as he looked up.
The man, Seymour, smirked before he placed down several cards onto his desk, "It's time, as they say, strike while the iron is hot…"

FIRST TEMPO: SHINING STAGE
"Oh no, I'm late! I'm late!" a teenage voice shouted in the house.
Through the small house, a young girl with silver hair was busy fixing up her clothes, a simple white button-up blouse, a brown short-sleeve jacket, a navy blue pleated skirt that reached her knees, and a pair of white socks.
Her mother, a woman with long dark purple hair was cooking up breakfast as the young girl got to the table.
"I see that you're ready to meet your underclassmen, aren't you Utada?" she chuckled before placing down some breakfast for the young girl.
"Definitely. Plus, Lenne-sensei wanted to show me something today and I overslept!" the young girl, Utada, answered as she scarfed down her breakfast.
"Careful there dear. You might choke if you eat that fast." Her mother reminded her.
Luckily, the young girl finished her food and quickly put on her blue running shoes. She then turned towards her mother, "I'm heading out!"
"Good luck!" her mother shouted as her daughter left.
She then began to rush towards the bus stop and soon boarded it, luckily she had some time left but the worry still gripped her. Luckily, the bus reached it's destination as she reached a large office building in the middle of town.
After rushing in, she entered a reception room that had several people, both workers and entertainers, wandering the area while several posters of previous concerts and events done by the company decorated the walls. One of which happened to be a poster displaying a younger high-school age Utada surrounded by hearts, the poster for her debut concert. The other posters included a special collaboration between Leblanc and an American card game company, another a MMA match called "The King of Fighters vs the Strongest" and even the annual Leblanc All-Stars concert to showcase their various talents.
With no time to waste, Utada reached the elevator. It was empty, a blessing for her as she pressed the 2nd floor button and waited for a moment.
'Wow, it's been almost four years since I joined this agency…' she thought to herself, 'It's been a dream come true.'
She couldn't help but reminisce on the day she joined Leblanc. It was not long after she ended up getting the chance of a lifetime…
FLASHBACK…
"You did say you wanted to become an idol. Right?"
A younger Utada's face lit up as she turned towards a slender woman with long, straight brown hair and brown eyes. Her attire mostly consisted of a simple blue t-shirt, a short black lace skirt with a blue belt, and knee-high brown boots.
"U-Uh! Excuse me?" she squeaked.
"I actually listened to that demo CD you submitted for the audition several weeks ago." The older woman revealed, "I must say, you got quite the passion for music." She complimented her.
Utada blushed briefly, "I… it was my first attempt actually. I didn't know if it would work. S-So, I wanted to try and get it right. A First Take kind of thing."
The older woman crossed her arms and smiled, before turning around and walking into the building to Utada's confusion. She briefly stopped to turn towards the young girl.
"Well? Aren't you going to come with us?" she asked as she and a young woman wearing a short brown hair and purple eyes, and wore a purple suit with a pencil skirt. "We'll need to figure out the terms of your contract."
Utada's face once more shined as her smile grew.
Just then, the ding of the elevator snapped her out of her little trip down memory lane as two more individuals joined her in the elevator.
The first was a young boy with short brown hair and chocolate eyes. He wore a simple red hoodie over a white shirt, black shorts that reached his knees, red socks, and black and white sneakers. He also had a red and white cap that had a flame symbol on it.
The other was a young girl with brown hair done in a set of pigtails and a pair of round glasses wearing a long yellow sweater that had a vinyl record on it with sleeves big enough to cover her hands, a pair of blue baggy pants, and a pair of simple shoes.
"Whew, finally. I do not want to miss this." The young boy said with a sense of excitement.
"A-Are you sure about that?" the girl in the sweater said, trying to make herself seem smaller by comparison.
"Umm… can I help you two?" a rather confused Utada asked the pair.
"Oh, sorry 'bout that! I didn't realize you were here too." The boy stated, "Name's Hoshi Ikematsu, I'm preparing to debut next week."
"U-Uh, I'm M-Miko Sayaka." The girl in the sweater greeted the idol, "I-I actually joined the company last month. Though, I don't really know anyone here outside of Ikematsu-san."
"Oh, I can understand. I was sort of like you two once upon a time." Utata said in understanding, "My name is Utada Nozomi. I'm one of the veterans around here." Hoshi then looked over the girl, which made her sort of nervous. "Uh… is there something wrong?"
"Huh, I guess that's why you felt so familiar. I remember dancing a lot to your songs." Hoshi admitted, "I even used your debut song for my audition video."
It was then that Utada's eyes widened in shock, "Hold on… are… are you Hoshikigami, the famous dancer on Curesta?!" she gasped.
Hoshi nodded and placed his hands on his hips with a proud smile. "Yep, that was how I actually got to join Leblanc. They approached me and my mom about me joining the company." He said, "I even got in a word from the KoF too."
Miko was confused, "The… who?"
Utada couldn't help but chuckle, "She means the King of Fighters. He's a member of the group known as the Golden Generation." She explained, "They're considered Leblanc's best talents in not just music, but also dueling and mixed martial arts. I'm actually friends with them."
This made Hoshi and Miko look on with surprise, "Seriously?!" the dancer gasped, "Aw man, I'm so jealous!"
Just then, the three soon heard the ding of the elevator before the door opened to reveal a small hallway. The idol giggled a bit, realizing that their little talk ended up taking longer than either of them expected.
"I guess this is my stop." She said to the two, "See you two around? I'll be sure to give you two a tour around the place tomorrow."
The girl in the sweater nodded, as did the dancer. "See you again, Nozomi-senpai."
As the three disembarked, Utada couldn't help but squeal inside from what Miko had called her.
'Wow, I'm a senpai. A real senpai!' she cheered in her mind, jumping for joy afterwards.
But she knew there wasn't any time to celebrate, she had an important meeting after all.
After she briefly composed herself, she took a deep breath and opened the door to enter the central office of the agency. There, Utada saw her mentor, Lenne Gullwing, as well as the owner of the Leblanc Talent Agency herself, Leblanc Fortuna.
"Glad you could make it." Lenne joked to the young idol.
"I'm so sorry that I'm late, sempai." Utada apologized to her, "So, what's up?"
Leblanc then reached under her table and soon pulled out a suitcase, one that made the young idol's face light up.
"W-Wait, is that?"
Lenne nodded before giving her explanation, "I'm sure that you heard that I and the rest of Halyx will be disbanding soon. Not to mention that we've been getting word that an old foe of mine has possibly resurfaced." She recounted, "I suppose the rise in attacks five years ago must have forced them to bide their time."
"You mean?"
The soon-to-be-former idol nodded, "Yeah, the Court of Sin have returned."
Utada felt a lump go down her throat. Up until five years ago, the world was under attack from a group known as the Court of Sin, a cult dedicated to making sure the world was left a silent void. They would send out monsters known as Musirens to sap the creativity and passions of humanity. The only way these creatures could be fought with was with the device that was in the suitcase Leblanc had with her.
"B-But, are you sure? I'm sure that senpai could do a better job than I could." The idol turned down with worry.
Lenne shook her head, "Utada, we both know that neither she or the others would be handle the Court of Sin as well as their current duties; Especially after the Second Keyblade War nearly turned the Realm of Light into mulch." She explained to her, "Besides, we already know you're more than ready for this."
Utada still felt a slight doubt in her heart about accepting this, but then she recalled why she took her chance in the audition. It was to bring joy back to Hagukumi. With a determined look, she gave a brief bow.
"Then… I hope I can do you proud, senpai." She said with a smile.
Lenne and Leblanc couldn't help but smile as they soon gave the idol the briefcase. Upon opening it, she was met with a black futuristic device with a super-thin screen, a power button on the right, and on the left was a thumbprint scanner alongside four colored buttons that had text on them. The red displaying the word Finish, the blue showing the word Tune, the yellow having the word Remix, and the last black one having the word Machine.
"The Beats Driver…" Utada muttered as she took out the device.
"Ugh, are you guys done-robo?" a mysterious voice asked the group.
"Huh? Who said that?" Hoshi asked.
"I did!" the voice said.
Soon, the three soon looked towards Utada… who looked up and saw a small a small red music note-shaped robot with blue shoes and red heaphones, he also had a screen that displayed his green eyes. Nearly immediately, the trio stepped back in shock while the strange machine jumped back.
"We were just getting to you, old friend." Lenne said, not the slightest bit phased by the sudden appearance of the robot.
"W-What the heck is that?!" Miko stammered in fear, while she and Hoshi hid behind the confused Utada.
"Hey, I'm not a thing! I'm Uta-Zo-robon!" the little robot shouted.
"Uta-Zo is a little robot that was built alongside the Beats Driver." The soon-to-be-former idol explained, "He has the ability to fuse two objects and transform them into assist machines called Unitrobos."
The little robot, Uta-Zo, nodded before looking Utada, "I've always done my best to help the various holders of the Beats Driver. That includes Lenne-san and now, you."
The idol couldn't help but smile before she gave a brief bow, "Then please take care of me from here on out, Uta-Zo-san." She told the little robot.
"Same here-robon!" Uta-Zo agreed with a salute.
Meanwhile, there was a young woman with dark brown hair around Utada's age taking a rest in a dance studio. She had just finished a practice session when she turned towards her manager, who seemed like the sleezy kind with his tanned skin and bleached blonde hair.
"Nice work, kiddo. Fantastic." He said after clapping, "Now, I hope you'll keep that energy up for tomorrow's concert. You know what will happen if you don't…" the manager warned with a cocky grin before he went to the bathroom.
As soon as he left, the young woman slimped down and breathed a sigh of relief. She then looked towards her reflection in the mirror. This was what she wanted when she signed up for CORRE, right? She wanted to let her song be heard. However, was it worth the various risks she had to face while working as a talent for the company?
While she was contemplating this, she soon noticed a strange figure float behind her. It was a woman with yellow eyes, long silver hair, a blue headband and a headdress with two long plumes that formed an M. She wore what could be best described to be a blue-and-black bra with a curlicue design linked in front by a yellow chain, and a black thong, a thin yellow-tasseled belt, gold bracelets, blue armbands and wristbands, green sashes decorated with a strange symbol, silver anklets, and a blue garter around her left thigh.
The woman stumbled back in confusion and fear, "W-Who are you?"
"Who I am isn't really important." The strange woman stated, "But what is important is your future here. I can tell that you aren't exactly happy with where you're working with. Are you not?"
The woman looked confused, "W-Well, I…"
"That look of doubt says all you need to, especially with how much of a terrible company you're attached to." The strange woman pointed out, "After all, there's a chance that your boss could just make you 'graduate' and leave you to be ravaged by the underbelly of this city."
The woman couldn't help but feel scared of that fate befalling her, looking away in fear. That was when she noticed the woman step forward and lift her chin up.
"Why don't you give your passion to me? Perhaps I can revive it and make it something greater?" the strange woman offered her.
"E-Excuse me?" the woman stuttered.
"It's the best offer I can give such a poor, unfortunate prospect such as yourself. Since you wish to be heard in this arms race." The strange woman noted while floating around the woman.
As the woman began to think of her answer, she soon heard her manager coming closer. She then turned to the strange woman, "Umm, miss?"
"Please, call me Yunalesca-san." The strange woman introduced herself.
"Well, Yunalesca-san? I guess we have a deal." The woman said before she outstretched her hand.
With a smirk, Yunalesca shook the woman's hand before she fell asleep while an pink orb displaying a music note floated out of her heart. The strange woman then gazed up on it before looking to find a black ethereal version of Uta-Zo jump onto her shoulder. The Uta-Zo lookalike chipred a bit before the strange woman gave the nod.
"Now then, it's time to start this sonata's finale." She said before she allowed the Uta-Zo lookalike to jump into the orb and begin to change.
All of a sudden, the woman began to squirm while the orb began to create a figure. Afterwards, a strange bipedal lionfish-like creature with black and golden armor, equalizers on it's arms, and a belt buckle that had the same music note symbol as the orb appeared and looked towards Yunalesca.
"Alright kiddo, time for yo-" the manager stopped mid-sentence as he looked to find the strange woman and the lionfish creature standing over the idol he was managing.
Out of instinct, the lionfish creature roared and leaped towards the manager, who screamed in terror.
Utada soon noticed Uta-Zo's screen showcase a warning sign alongside the sound of a siren blaring out.
"Big trouble! A Musiren's been detected-robon!" he called out.
The three looked towards the idol, who had a look of determination plastered onto her face. Lenne soon gave her pupil the nod before she and the little robot rushed out of the building and quickly slapped on the Beats Driver. After reaching the parking lot, the idol tapped the black button.
BEAT SOUNDER.
Soon, a modified 2023 Yamaha Tricity with two large speakers in the back as well as hovercraft-ready wheels was summoned to her location. After putting on her helmet, Utada turned to her new partner.
"Where to?" she asked.
"There's a small dance studio just a couple of miles from here. We need to hurry!" the little robot shouted.
The idol nodded and revved up the engine, speeding towards where Uta-Zo had reported where the Musiren was. Luckily, she arrived just in time as she spotted several smaller hunched over frog creatures with red spines on their backs and microphone stand-like spears called Toadiators. Utada took off her helmet just as the Lionfish Musiren stepped out, holding the frightened woman's manager by the head.
"P-Please! Spare me!" he pleaded, but the Musiren didn't listen.
It instead merely snarled at the manager before opening it's mouth and extracted a yellow spotlight orb from the man's mouth. As throwing, he was left a cowering mess with his confidence all but taken from him.
"Hey, fishface!" Utada called out to the creatures, grabbing their attention like she wanted.
The Lionfish Musiren tilted it's head as the idol clenched her fists.
"Those passions aren't yours to take!" she declared, "So give them up, or else." She warned the creature.
However, the snarl from the Lionfish Musiren she got merely made her chuckle. It was always the hard way. With a smirk, Utada pressed her thumb onto the thumbprint scanner. A large electrical stage quickly materialized below the idol's feet. Then, after giving a brief dance, she then twirled around and posed.
"Henshin!"
This sent a vocal signal to the belt that created a virtual chamber around her.
TRANSFORM
Suddenly, the idol was surrounded by three rings that quickly transformed her clothes into armor. After the chamber lowered down, Utada had donned a Rider suit that consisted of a black bodysuit accented with blue lines that almost resembled a musical score, a white chestplate that resembled a heart, long arm guards resembling sleeves with the left having a touchpad-like sound mixer, large grey boots, and a helmet that had two large wings on the top and headphones with white compound eyes to complete the look.
RIDER THE HENSHIN
"Kamen Rider Beats. Now then, time to make my debut!" she declared with a smirk.
As the Toadiators charged at the idol Rider, Beats dodged each one before performing a spinning roundhouse kick to knock the amphibious mooks away from her. She then blocked an incoming spear stab as she turned and delivered a strong punch to the attacking Toadiator's skull, defeating it as the defeated creature dissolved into sea foam.
She then leaped off of two more mooks and delivered a heel spike towards a larger Toadiator, sending her rocketing forward towards the Lionfish Musiren. The lionfish creature in response, swung one of it's fin-like arm blades towards her. Beats however braved through the incoming slash and delivered a running tackle onto the creature, sending it back a good distance. This freed up the idol Rider to quickly deliver a series of rapid kicks to the Lionfish Musiren's chest.
DORARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARARA!
She then reared her leg back before performing a flip kick onto the chin, sending the Lionfish Musiren flying.
DORA!
However, not wanting to go down without a fight, the Lionfish Musiren quickly fired off several poisonous spines towards the idol Rider.
"Look out!" Uta-Zo called out.
In a rush, Beats quickly jumped, flipped, and twirled out of the way of the incoming spines. Once the Lionfish Musiren landed, it then let loose a powerful roar from it's jaws. This forced Beats and Uta-Zo to cover their ears while several of the mooks were sent flying into each other. As she got up, she then noticed a large turtle-like monster roaring into the air.
"Crap, looks like the Musiren called out a Tortank!" Uta-Zo gasped.
"Think you could cook up a Unitroborn to take care of that thing?" Beats asked the little robot.
"Gladly!" he affirmed before he spotted a lobster dinner about to be served alongside an apple stand.
With a smile, he quickly began to sing a little tune.
/Unit! Unitroborn! Bon!
Bon bon! Bon bon! Unitroborn! X2/
As the little machine began to sing, a small score began to form around him while Beats briefly danced to the tune. This confused the amphibious mooks as they looked around in confusion.
"Everybody say!" she called out before Uta-Zo fired off his beam towards the apple stand, bringing an apple to him.
APPLE~!
"Everybody say!" Uta-Zo obliged as he then fired his beam towards the restaurant to grab the lobster.
LOBSTER~!
/Unit! Unitroborn! Bon! X2/
Uta-Zo and Beats soon began to sing while the two objects floated around the former, before the latter pressed the yellow button which caused the apple and lobster to grow in size.
REMIX.
"Gattai! Unitroborn!"
With that combined shout, Uta-Zo soon placed the lobster onto the top of the apple. All of a sudden, the same ribbons that created Beats' armor soon entered the objects. All of a sudden, the apple soon unfolded into a set of legs with equalizers while the lobster's front split open to become a pair of claws, while the chest and shoulders had the same equalizer design. Finally the head had a large upwards crest that had an equalizer, a green leaf-like gem on the forehead, and finally a pair of green music note-like shades.
APPLE! APPLE~LOB~STER~!
As the AppleLobster UnitRobo came to life, the red machine then turned towards the rampaging Tortank and used it's claws to stop the turtle monster from slamming down on the monster. With the large creature distracted, Beats returned her focus onto the Lionfish Musiren, quickly punching it twice before delivering a windmill motion to kick the creature.
While it was dazed, it then quickly spotted a puddle of water and leaped into it to escape. The idol Rider tried to run after it, but it was able to use the water as a portal to escape.
"Dangit, it got away…" she growled.
Beats then took note of how the AppleLobster UnitRobo subdued the Tortank and motioned for the idol Rider to finish it off. She oblidged quickly pressed the red button on her Driver.
SOUNDWAVE.
"I can't miss a beat with this!" the idol Rider declared as she began to dance to the beat of the music that was playing, each step causing music notes to appear before she leaped into the air and leaped forward, performing a spinning drill kick that was enhanced by the music notes she generated spinning around her.
The UnitRobo soon let go and leaped out of the way of the incoming attack, while the Tortank wasn't so lucky. It soon took the attack head on before Beats got up and cheered.
"1, 2, 3! Finale!"
The Tortank exploded afterwards, taking the remaining Toadiators with it. As she turned around, Utada sighed with regret while the UnitRobo dissipated, it's components returning to their original places like nothing had happened.
"Leblanc-P isn't going to like this…" she muttered to herself.
"Hey, cheer up. That could have gotten a lot worse." Uta-Zo reassured the idol.
"Yeah, I guess…" Utada said with a shrug.
Meanwhile, as the two made their way towards the studio, Yunalesca was watching the battle with intrigue. Unbeknownst to her, a wandering Hoshi had seen the whole thing.
"Woah, that was so cool." He marveled, "So Utada-senpai… is like me?"
As he said that, the dancer soon looked towards something in his pocket. Namely… a red version of Utada's Driver…
NEXT TIME ON RIDER TIME: KAMEN RIDER BEATS!
"I'm scared. What happened to my passion?"
"I see that you are still trying to manage children, Leblanc…"
"Alright, let's dance! Henshin!"
NEXT TEMPO: DANCE OF FLAMES!
"Follow the beat of your heart, young idol!"
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Welp, I'd rather not finish my fic writing this year with a very heavy chapter of EoT. So I might as well finish the first part of a three-part special instead. Honestly, I wanted to finish this special for a long while, but due to working more on the main series and CrossChro, I had to try and at least get part 1 out on the year that I said that Beats came out. It also serves as sort-of my way of celebrating EoT's upcoming fifth anniversary since wow, it's gonna be five years since I started writing this crazy journey. I'll try and get this fic done by the time the actual anniversary comes around, but don't hold me to that.
Anyways, yeah might as well get the two surprise series additions to the list. Now I wanted to continue the whole multiverse angle I have with EoT, so I thought maybe bringing in a version of a fanfic character that I've already included in the series would be fun. There were a lot to choose from, but given Hoshi's backstory had his mom be an idol, I thought "What If... she didn't work for a black company?" and made Hoshi Ikematsu. If you're curious, this Hoshi takes his last name from Souske Ikematsu, the actor who played Takeshi Hongo in Shin Kamen Rider 2023 (a great movie, though a bit much in terms of the pacing). As for Miko or how Dante would be adapted into Beats' world? Well you'll have to wait and see.
As for the Unitroborn line of toys? I mean the music tones were an easy match for me to add this series into this special. It also means that Uta-Zo sort of serves as the Hopper-1 to Utada's Hotaro. Meanwhile, I went all in on making the villains be based on FFX's villains. I can imagine that you can guess who's who from the descriptions I gave for Seymor's other generals.
Anyways, yeah here's hoping 2024 is a better year than this. So until then, this is HackerEX logging out!
Happy New Year!
