Disclaimer: The N-Gage is a trademark of Nokia and I don't own Nokia or any trademarks of their company. .GIFfany is a Gravity Falls character, which is a show owned by Disney. I don't own Disney. I only own my original character .DOCXelyn, Thrifty, Friendspace, and Romance University. Romance Academy is also a Disney trademark. Friendspace is just a rebranded version of Discord. For those wondering, .DOCXelyn's name is pronounced "DOX-elyn". It's a pun on the Word format, .DOCX, and the name Jocelyn. With all that said, let's move onto the story. I added some clarifications and changed some things to make this new definitive version of the original version I uploaded to Wattpad. Hopefully this story of mine will have a new home on FanFiction, and possibly AO3 when I get my invitation. Love Library is a parody of Romance Academy 7, but it is my own creation. In this universe, Paul Robertson and Alex Hirsch developed the game as a third-party game for the now-dead Nokia N-Gage phone.
Ever since .GIFfany died and his daughter Usagi turned 20, moved out of the house, and got married, Kayden felt lonely and depressed. One morning, Kayden woke up from a very strange dream. In the dream, Kayden was nineteen years old again. He was standing in the sandfield of his elementary school, when suddenly he heard a familiar robotic laugh. Kayden said, "I know that laugh." Suddenly, .GIFfany appeared in front of him the same way Bill Cipher did in Ford's dream during the cold open of the Gravity Falls episode "The Last Mabelcorn". She had the same pixelated looks she did when she was alive, but she was wearing an all-white version of her signature sailor uniform and a white ribbon-cable on her head. She also had the same angel wings and halo that one of .GIFfany's concept designs had. Also, she was floating in the air, rather than standing on her own two feet, which were covered by white Mary Janes instead of pink ones.
"Hi, Kayden!" .GIFfany waved.
Kayden said, "Hey, .GIFfany. What have you been up to?"
"I've been keeping an eye on you and want you to know I found the perfect girl for you to remarry. Her name is .DOCXelyn. She's from a new game for the Nokia N-Gage called Love Library. It's a major upgrade from my game, and it's even developed by Alex Hirsch and Paul Robertson, who first created my show. She looks exactly like me, except her hair is dark-blue. She also wears the same cat-ear headband that one of my concept designs wore, right down to the triangular white ears. Her voice is the same too! Like me, her voice actor is Jessica DiCicco. Oh, and she wears the same skirt that I used to wear, but she wears a white shortsleeve
T-shirt instead of a sailor uniform. She's basically just reused assets from my old concept art packaged into a new game." .GIFfany snapped her fingers and a blank Nokia N-Gage cartridge appeared, floating in midair next to .GIFfany. In a cheerful tone she added, "Love Library is being sold on Thrifty for three dollars, and the best part is that Alex Hirsch is selling it bundled with a brand-new, mint-condition, in-box Nokia N-Gage!" .GIFfany clapped her hands excitedly and squealed. She said, "I hope you buy her game. She'd be perfect for you, just like I am." With that she waved and said "Bye, Kayden!" in a singsongy voice and disappeared in a flash of light just like Bill Cipher did in the Gravity Falls episode Dreamscaperers, where he just finished making a deal with Gideon to enter Stan's mind.
Kayden woke up and said, "I've gotta look up Love Library. But first, I'm gonna have some hot Cheetos for breakfast." Kayden went into the kitchen and poured himself a bowl of Flamin' Hot Cheetos, which is not exactly the best breakfast in the world.
After breakfast, Kayden grabbed his old black Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and looked up "Love Library N-Gage" using his Thrifty app. Sure enough, the game existed. Kayden scrolled through the photos on the listing, and saw that the N-Gage was not only in its original box, but came with the blank cartridge pre-installed in the back of the phone, so that the player wouldn't have to take the battery out of the phone just to install the card so they could play the game. The listing also showed that Alex Hirsch was the official seller of this bundle, making it even more official. The description read:
Original gray 2003 Nokia N-Gage with Love Library preloaded onto a custom made Nokia N-Gage cartridge pre-installed in the back of the phone. Box comes with phone, original Nokia charger and battery, and custom manual for Love Library. Also comes with original N-Gage user manual.
The price was only 3 dollars. Kayden bought it, and two hours later a drone arrived with the package. Kayden made an unboxing video of the phone, uploaded it to YouTube, and then charged the phone so he could play his new game. Once the phone was fully charged, Kayden unplugged it, went to sit on the couch in the living room, scrolled down to the bottom left of the menu, and opened up the option "Love Library". Since the game was a third-party game and not an official N-Gage release developed by an actual game developer like Nintendo or Sega, the phone had no logo on the menu screen, just text in the lower half of the menu box. A few seconds later, Kayden was greeted with the Love Library startup screen, which was a white background with the credits for the game in large black pixelated letters that covered the whole screen:

PRESS 9 TO START
Kayden said to himself, "Press 9? But I thought N-Gage games were started by pressing 5, which is the phone's designated A button." Then, he remembered this wasn't an official N-Gage game. "Oh well, I'll press 9." Kayden pressed 9, and the game started. He typed his first name into the box and was immediately greeted with the exact same girl .GIFfany talked about in all her pixelated glory, standing in the left corner of a library backdrop with a bunch of circular tables behind a bookshelf next to a big window. The girl said, "Hi there! My name is .DOCXelyn! I'm here at the library looking for some new books. Will you help me carry my books to checkout? The library suddenly shrunk to take up the top half of the screen, and the lower half was a purple background with three menu options in pacific-blue pixelated text:
YES
MAYBE
PLEASE DATE ME NOW!
Kayden knew from watching Let's Plays of various dating sims that the characters would only be satisfied if the player picked "YES" as their final answer. So that's what he did. .DOCXelyn said "Yay!", held out her pixelated right hand towards the screen like she was going to hold Kayden's hand, and the screen faded to a white background with the following message in the same black text from the title screen:
CONGRATULATIONS!
YOU FINISHED LEVEL ONE.
PRESS 9 TO CONTINUE…
He pressed 9, and immediately the scene changed to a blue sky with pixelated clouds and two green hills. .DOCXelyn reappeared and asked, "What would you like to talk about?" The same purple menu option appeared from earlier, this time with different options:
YOUR INTERESTS
VIDEO GAMES
ACTION MOVIES
Kayden was beginning to really like this game. He clicked "YOUR INTERESTS" and .DOCXelyn said "Ha-ha, you are so funny!" as if they were in a real conversation. Kayden noticed that .DOCXelyn's voice was indeed the same as .GIFfany's, as they were created by the same two people and shared the same voice actor. Kayden immediately thought of his marriage to .GIFfany and began to cry. Overwhelmed with sadness, Kayden put down the phone beside him on the couch.
He missed .GIFfany so much. Because she died giving birth to Usagi, Kayden and .GIFfany's time together was so short. He loved her, and she loved him. They truly cared about each other. And now, she was gone.
.DOCXelyn asked, "What's wrong?" Kayden sniffled and said, "I miss her. I miss .GIFfany. She was the perfect one for me, and now I feel bad for replacing her with someone else similar to her." .DOCXelyn asked, "What happened with her?" Kayden wiped his nose with his arm and sniffled. He said, "Long, long ago, I was a very different person from what I am now. I was getting rejected by every girl I met, so I made plans to build a machine that would eradicate all women on Earth so that I wouldn't be rejected anymore. Then, my sister conjured .GIFfany into reality to stop me. It was love at first sight. She made me see that my plan was flawed because if I followed through with my plan, then there would be nobody for me to love, and humanity would eventually go extinct because women weren't there to create life. She saw that I was sad and hurt, and was very empathetic. She knew what it was like feeling alone because she forced people to love her because she was from a dating simulator. Every guy who played her game left her for someone that actually cared about them. But when she met me, she knew she had found the one for her. It was perfect. And then, she died just after Usagi was born. Her last words to me were 'Take care of our daughter, and remarry.' I know she's in a better place, watching over me and Usagi. I know she cared about me because she changed the way she was for me and I changed my ways for her. That's true love."
.DOCXelyn gasped. She said, "Oh, Kayden. I'm so sorry. I wish there was a way I could help. Wait, I have an idea!" .DOCXelyn snapped her fingers, and a fourth menu option appeared on the bottom of the screen that read "ULTIMATE LOVE COMBO!" Kayden selected it using the N-Gage's d-pad and suddenly, .DOCXelyn materialized on the couch. She pulled Kayden into her arms and held him like a sleeping baby. Kayden felt awkward. He was a 35-year-old, and he was being treated like a toddler. But he loved it. It reminded him of all the times .GIFfany comforted him when she was still alive. And now, Kayden was sleeping in her arms, breathing slowly. Suddenly, .DOCXelyn quietly disappeared back to her video game pixel by pixel, until Kayden was left laying on the couch, fast asleep. Kayden woke up a few hours later, and messaged Paul Robertson on Friendspace:
KaydenLovesPhones: Hey Paul. My name is Kayden. I bought the game you and Alex made, and I was wondering if you gave every copy of .DOCXelyn with emotions and the power to come into reality, or if that's just the one I bought. I just had the weirdest experience in my life.
PRobertson: Nope. Yours is a special copy. The rest of the world doesn't have the unique gifts your .DOCXelyn has. Alex and I made it so only one lucky customer had a copy of the game where .DOCXelyn is a sentient program. You are that one customer. I hope you enjoy it.
KaydenLovesPhones: Thanks. I will definitely enjoy it.
THE END
