I don't own anything but this plot and Alice Doyle and any other characters I add. This awesome universe is not mine!

Alice Doyle sat in a coffee shop in New Orleans. She had her white Raycon: The Everyday Headphones over her ears as she worked on her latest college assignment. When she had told her parents that she wanted to get her Bachelors degree in music and that she was going to New Orleans to do it, they had gifted them to her. She chose white because the color stood out so beautiful against her jet black hair. The rose gold accents were her favorite and matched the rose gold cross she had around her neck.
She missed her family terribly as they lived all the way in Denver, but Alice knew that if she wanted to become a professional musician, she had to do this. New Orleans wasn't the best school out there, but she loved the atmosphere and was very satisfied with the education she'd been receiving.
Normally she would go back to Denver on her breaks but it was getting close to Christmas and she hadn't seen her cousins in forever. They lived not too far away in Virginia and she'd already talked to them about coming to visit to spend the Holiday. While there, Alice was going to make the decision to continue her education or take some time off. It was beginning to feel as if she had been studying forever.
Turning her attention back to her laptop, Alice finally finished the last notes she needed on the final she would complete tonight. The last assignment her college professor had given them was to write a song and perform it for the class. It would be done in the assembly hall where they made introductions on the first day of class. Alice was a bit nervous to be sure but they'd been given a month to do it and she was finally finished.
The music had flown out of her soul pretty quickly and she was in love with the sound of it. Writing the lyrics to it had taken forever and she was certain that she wouldn't be able to finish. Changing the music in her earphones to Lindsey Stirling's Roundtable Revival, Alice let her eyes close a moment as she took in the sound of the violin and the feeling of the bass resonating through her.
She'd been so involved she hadn't noticed her pen roll off the small coffee table she was using. Feeling a strong hand touch her shoulder, Alice jumped and yanked her headphones off, turning her wide, ice blue eyes towards the person standing next to her. He had short and slightly messy brown hair and the most beautiful hazel eyes she'd ever seen. His jaw was as sharp as a blade and had the hint of a smile on his perfect lips.
"I apologize for startling you. I just wanted to let you know that you dropped this."
Alice tore her eyes away from his face and they followed his neck and chest down to the view of his hand. It took her a moment to look past his fingers to see that her pen was in his hand. Her cheeks warmed against her wishes and she accepted it. "Thank you for that." Her eyes moved back to his and his smile grew. "You are very welcome, Miss?" Alice blinked, trying to remember her name. "Alice. Alice Doyle." The man nodded and held out his hand for her to take. "My name is Elijah Mikaelson, nice to meet you." Alice accepted his hand and tried to speak but was frozen. The music was still playing through her headphones and it was pretty loud.
Reaching over, she pressed the space bar to stop the noise and found his eyes had moved to her computer screen. "Music major at the University? Intriguing." His eyes moved back to hers and he nodded once, letting go of her hand. "Enjoy the day, Alice."
With that, he turned and made his way out the door, adjusting the collar of his white dress shirt. The weather wasn't a too unreasonable 70 degrees however, Alice missed snow. Shaking the daze from her head, she placed her headphones back on and tried to calm herself down. She took a few gulps of her lukewarm coffee and felt her head clear.
Once she was done with the performance tonight, she would pack her things from the dorm and make her way to see her cousins.

Elijah watched her from a distance while she tried to center herself. He himself felt a bit off kilter. His hand still burning from the heat of her skin against his, he closed his eyes for a moment, still lost in the sweet smell of her blood. Alice Doyle. Such a classic and beautiful name. It certainly fit her. Her hair was jet black but when the sunlight hit her through the windows, it looked almost iridescent, reminiscent of what an oil spill looked like. Black with a shimmering rainbow. His eyes turned back to her, remembering the shocking blue of hers. Icy blue, almost glacier like and surrounded with thick black lashes. Her skin was as pale as freshly fallen snow and her lips were a lovely peach color.
Her manner of dress almost reminded him of a modern Victorian. A black sleeveless blouse with a white collar, black skinny jeans and converse sneaker. Rose gold jewelry adorned her and her nails were black as well.
For some reason she had caught his attention. After what happened with Katerina, Elijah had sworn off attraction forever. He was used to being alone and found that he liked it that way. He had his family, that was all he needed. So why was this human girl affecting him this way? His brow was puzzled and he blinked, turning away from the temptation and making his way to his flat. He remembered seeing something about a performance she was to undertake later tonight. A smirk pulled his lips back. He might just have to make an appearance.

To say Alice was nervous was definitely an understatement. She'd done so much work on this song and spent hours getting the music just right. She was thankful to have friends at the school to play the instruments she needed and had the rest to play through her computer. Stepping up to the mic she saw the rest of her class who had already gone. Most had done amazing work and others had just a bit more to learn but she hoped no one failed the final. Some extras from the school were around too because they loved to watch the performances.
Alice didn't have any special moves she would do, just singing really. She couldn't dance very well so she hoped to never have to do that.
She'd dressed up for the performance: Her hair was in braids all around her head and her eyes were a more dramatic shadowing, really showing off the color of her eyes in the stage lights. Her dress was a high low, solid black and topped with floral lace covering her arms. It was classic and beautiful but not too over the top. She'd paired it with black rose pantyhose and knee high black boots with shining buckles on them.
When the music started, Alice closed her eyes and she began to sing the song she wrote. She sang it with every ounce of feeling that she possessed. She sang it with everything that she had. This was her dream. She wanted to write music and lyrics and perform it for people to enjoy. She wanted to change the world with her music. She just wanted THIS, forever. Seeing everyone getting into her song caused her heart to leap in her chest.
When it was over and she heard and felt the loud applause, she couldn't stop the tears from filling her eyes. Her eyes closed and she laughed with joy as the tears fell down her cheeks. Wiping them away, she took a bow and ran off stage with her best friend Aurora who had helped sing back up.
"That was AMAZING Alice! You are DEFINITELY going to be famous! I get you get the highest grade in your class." Alice flushed and shook it off, her eyes moving around in the shadows of the theater. She felt a small tugging, as if someone was watching them. Swallowing down a lick of fear, she pulled her friend back to the group and took her seat, watching as the teacher took his place on the stage, telling everyone if they passed or failed. Alice let out a squeal with her friend when she found out she'd passed her final.
Not too long after, Alice joined her friends at the local bar to celebrate their passing grades. She was a couple of drinks in when she saw Elijah again, sitting at the other end of the bar. His eyes warmed at seeing her and he held up his wine glass in a toast, his eyes moving over their little celebration. Her cheeks flushed and she nodded, holding up her beer in thanks before turning her eyes back to her friends.
Aurora turned to her, her eyes bright from being buzzed. "So what is next for you?" Alice shrugged, taking a sip of her beer. "Well, I'm going to see my family in Virginia for the Christmas season but after that, I'm not sure yet. I think I might need to take a break for a bit. I feel like I've been in school forever." Aurora laughed. "Well, yeah. You did highschool, two years of community college and then got you AA degree for music and now you've just finished your Bachelors. What else is there to do?"
Alice laughed along with her and sighed. "Well, when you put it THAT way...I think I will take a little break, stay with my family for a little bit. I turn 25 next year. It's time for me to focus on myself a little bit, not just my studies." Her friends overheard and cheered for her decision, causing Alice to smile as she finished her beer. Turning her eyes over to where she'd seen Elijah, she was sad that he was gone. Shrugging her shoulders, she made her way back to her dorm and fell asleep.
When she awoke, she had coffee and set to packing up her things. Anything she wasn't taking with her, she got ready to have it sent back home. Alice didn't really care for walking onstage to receive her diploma so she set that up to be sent to her cousins house.
It didn't take her very long to pack everything up so when everything was finished, she got on the plane and said goodbye for New Orleans. It wasn't a terribly long flight and she smiled as she felt them hit the tarmac. She exited the plane and made her way down to where she knew her cousins would be waiting. She heard her name called and turned to see her younger cousins and their aunt. Alice laughed, giving them a hug. "Hi guys! I missed you all! Let's get some food!"
They grabbed her baggage and made their way for the parking garage. Seeing the sign as she left the airport caused a smile to split her face.
WELCOME TO MYSTIC FALLS! Enjoy your stay!
Author's Note: SONG SHE SINGS IS LEGENDS NEVER DIE!
Alright so this was an idea I had because I've only seen vampire diaries and a little bit of originals but I wanted to give Elijah a true happy ending. so this story will be TOTALLY different. I'm rewatching TVD right now and gonna start on TO soon and eventually make my way to Legacies, but this is what I'm doing so I won't be sticking to the script.
Should I continue? Let me know please?
