Chapter 1: After the final act

Inuyasha and Kagome had been through hell and back throughout their journey to defeat Naraku all of those years ago. Since Naraku's defeat and Kagome's return the two of them have been living happily married together in Kaede's village.

Over the years Kaedae's village has expanded some from what Kagome had first known when she had fallen through the well all of those years ago. Now the village had a temple, a school and thanks to Kohaku and Sango a demon slayers guild that was located towards the outskirts of the village. The village population had grown over the years as well. Kagome held a major role in both the village's expansion over time as well as the education that was offered. Kagome has become a well respected priestess over the years and Inuyasha is also well respected in the village as one of its protectors.

The people in the village were a lot more open minded when it came to living alongside half demons especially since the village priestess who most admired and adored was married to a half demon. Inuyasha rarely had any problems with the villagers.

Inuyasha and Kagome were practical when it came to the things that they liked and what they bought and because of this they were able to live well off of the money that they earned from slaying demons in other nearby villages.

The extra cash also helped them to take care of their 4 children. Moroha who was 16, Yuna who was 13 and took after her mother more when it came to her looks save for her golden eyes that were just like her father's. Yuna had long straight black hair that she normally wore up in an elegant bun. Their older son Haru was 9 and he was Inuyasha and Kagome's only child who had silver hair like their father and their youngest son was named Sora and he was 8 and had black hair like his sisters. All of the children except for Yuna had brown eyes like Kagome. The children were only quarter demon so their demon traits didn't show up as much physically but they all did have enhanced physical abilities.

Kagome and Inuyasha had a full house and they both loved every minute of it. This is what Kagome had craved to have with him ever since she came back for the final time. She wanted to be a real family together with Inuyasha and after they got married kids came naturally though they did take a bit of a break after realizing how much work having a baby actually was, so they waited a little before having more kids. They had always wanted at least two kids but their two boys were a welcome surprise for them both.

Raising kids who have demon blood in a human village was not always easy but they had a good community. The couple was still close with Miroku and Sango and their kids never discriminated against anyone and Sesshomaru's daughters lived in the village as well so all of the kids grew up together.

Sesshomaru's daughters were only a year older than Maroha and Sango's son was only 4 years older than the twins so the kids grew to be quite close to each other. Most of the village kids got along with the half demon children; there were just a few who had problems sometimes.

Towa and Setsuna had a good relationship with their mother. She was kind and she loved the both of them so much, just as much as she loved their father but as they got older the twins started to see their father as someone who was indifferent to them.

They only saw him a few times a year and when they did see him he barely spoke a word to either of them. He acted so different from their uncle who had such an active role in the lives of their cousins and loved their aunt more than anything.

Setsuna simply accepted who their father was and didn't dwell on him or his actions after a certain age, she believed that he cared in his own way and she understood that maybe demons just didn't know how to be a father in the way that she and Towa had wanted him to be. He was over 200 years old, so he must have been witness to a lot of changes over time. Setsuna had thought that maybe family just isn't something that most demons knew how to do.

Towa took everything regarding their father to heart and started holding resentments towards him for not being around as much. Once Towa was old enough to try and make sense of his absence more she started lashing out at him but he never seemed to be bothered by her cold attitudes or unbothered moods when he visited. Which made her even more upset that he didn't seem to care if she even liked him or if she still looked forward to his presence like she had so much when she was a kid. She knew that he respected strength so she thought that if she could become strong enough he'd acknowledge her.

One month ago Towa had seen a request come across Kohaku's desk at the slayers guild. The rank of how strong the demon was believed to be quickly caught her eye and she stole the letter before Kohaku could see it fully. The slayers guild had a ranking system when it came to how they classified demons and there were 5 levels when it came to how they categorized demons and how they should respond to them.

The demon that Towa had stolen the report for was a 4.5 level demon which normally meant that at least 10 demon slayers should respond to this request but Towa went alone.

She had been present when Kohaku had received the request, hearing about the demon that the slayers were being enlisted to kill from the traveler who was seeking their help and had assessed the demon and its abilities. Towa just hadn't known the rank of the demon until she read the full report. Once she saw the report and ranking she decided to take matters into her own hands and go it alone. She had never killed a demon that was more than a level 3 but even when she was facing a level 3 demon her true strength was never tested. Sure she was usually partnered with her sister and Hisui or Moroha and another slayer or even the four of them together but she was sure that she could kill a 4.5 demon.

She was stronger than most demon slayers and her uncle often slayed demons that were 4.5 and even 5 all by himself easily and he was half demon just like she was.

Her father valued strength more than anything so of course if he found out that she could slay an upper level demon all on her own he'd surely praise her and if he did finally take her seriously, she'd be able to tell him once she finally receives praise that she plans on becoming stronger than him.

Towa didn't even tell her sister that she was going to slay a 4.5 level demon. She simply left her mother and sister a note at home before leaving the village.

Towa made the two days trip to the village that had enlisted help and greeted the village chief who was shocked that only one demon slayer had responded to the request, and he could tell from the color of Towa's hair and eyes that she wasn't completely human, but Towa's quick talking and confidence had given him confidence in her ability to slay the demon that had been abducting people in their village for some time.

He gave Towa a place to stay for as long as she'd need and that night she set off to investigate the places that the demon was known to frequent when it came to abductions.

She quickly picked up on a scent and followed it to the demon's lair which reeked more and more of human blood the closer she got and once she arrived she was disgusted to see the amount of bones and dead bodies the the demon had meticulously placed around his cave as if he were proud of the work he had done to the innocent people he had brutalized and murdered.

Her stomach felt weak at the sight but her growing anger for what had happened to the demon's victims kept her going. She heard movements which made her wander deeper into the cave and that was when she came across 5 more of the demon's victims but these 5 were all alive, though 3 of them were badly injured while 2 of them seemed to be newly arrived.

They saw her and shuddered with fear at first to see another demon until she cut them all free of the substance that was trapping them in the cave, she instructed them to leave and right in the middle of this rescue the demon had returned once they were all outside of the cave.

The demon had to be at least 8 ft tall a lot taller than Towa and she understood the kind of monster she was about to fight against and what would happen should she lose but she wasn't scared she was the daughter of Sesshomaru and he would never cower to anyone and neither would she.

The demon looked human-like but his face was distorted and it contorted more in anger once he realized that Towa had cut his prey free. He violently attacked her but she was ready matching his every blow, inflicting her own damage on him with her energy blade when she saw an opening.

Her solo mission was going well, better than well she clearly was stronger than the demon and she was winning until she was stabbed through her shoulder and the demon tasted her blood and went crazy.

"Half demon blood! The taste is much sweeter. "You have to be half demon." The demon smiled twisted as he licked more of her blood from his blade.

"Your blood worth 100 humans losing those 5 is nothing compared to the strength eating you will bring me."

The demon attacked her more viciously now and Towa began to struggle as they fought fast and quick.

It was taking all of her strength to counter his attacks now and keep up with his pace. She had been injured in battle before but this time was different. His blade had done something to her.

"My blade is covered in venom from my fangs." The demon said as he caught her grabbing her wrist on her good side and pulling her close, biting down on her shoulder in the exact spot in which he had stabbed her, making her scream in pain and stab the demon in his right eye. He pulled back with a scream of his own and Towa fell to the ground.

"You… you shouldn't be able to handle that much poison! Normally that much poison can kill 10 humans. You shouldn't have been able to move at all after getting stabbed." He spat viciously clutching his eye.

Towa struggled to stand back up but she did so as her breathing got more heavy and she could feel the poison from the blade and his bite merging together and taking a stronger effect as her wounds throbbed in pain.

"You sound as if you've never fought a true warrior before." She smirked and she looked menacingly as she did so and the demon shuddered.

She didn't know what was going to happen next as she was feeling more of the poison take effect but she would never show any weakness and she was determined to fight through the pain. Her best bet was to try and end this quickly.

"You can't compare me to normal humans or anyone else for that matter. I'm Towa and I'm the warrior who's going to deliver you to hell's door step! Remember that name because it will be the last you ever know." She stood tall with no hint of fear or signs that she would give up this fight anytime soon on her face. She would kill him and she would prove herself no matter what.

The demon just looked at her through his one good eye. Though she looked menacing he could tell that she wasn't as sharp as she once was and had there been no poison. He might have needed to have more fear as she may have even killed him. Maybe.

The demon scoffed. "Looks like the only effect my poison has on you seems to be delusions and unfortunately for you now you'll feel every once of pain as I devour you over the next few days." He looked just as menacingly at her and Towa flared her sword again with demon energy ready for her final stand against this demon but the tables turned quickly and the poison was becoming too much for her as the fight went on.

She had actually thought that she was going to die as the poison made her move slower and slower and her injuries were getting worse as she fought on and received new wounds while inflicting very little in return.

The demon was playing with her for sport at this point but before the demon could land his killing blow her father intervened. His sword swiftly hit the demon's causing the demon's blade to break into pieces and the demon fell to the ground.

"Who the hell are you?" The demon asked as he sensed a murderous aura from Sesshomaru, though he looked calm as he turned to Towa and gently cradled her. Ignoring the demon.

"Father." She murmured looking up at her father who was showing her nothing but indifference even in this situation. "I…" She breathed. "I don't need help."

Her father closed his eyes and sighed heavily before opening a glass vial and pushing to her mouth. "Drink this." He ordered and she looked at him as she did what he said.

He had never shown any emotion besides indifference in her presence. Was he upset?

"That half demon is mine to kill! What's a demon like you need her for anyway? Aren't you strong enough on your own, without eating half demons? Just let us finish our fight." The poison demon demanded and Sesshomaru gently placed Towa down.

"The medicine you drank will snuff out the poison." He said and he turned back to the demon.

"I'm not in the mood for games tonight. Do you have any last words?" Sesshomaru asked as he calmly made his way to the demon.

"Wh- what!? B-but I, what is your reason? Is all of this over a mere half demon?" The demon began to sweat.

"We can come to an agreement about her. I don't think it'd be wise for us to fight." The demon pleaded. He could tell when he was out classed and the moment that he met Sesshomaru and sensed his demonic aura he knew better than to test him.

Sesshomaru just remained quiet.

"Who is she anyway for you to go to such lengths!?"

"My daughter, that half demon that you just threatened to kill, is my daughter." Sesshomaru stated simply but there was no rage behind his words. Sesshomaru just stated this as if they were just simple facts and now he was going to kill the demon who's color had left his skin.

"I'm sorry! Had I known I would have—" The demon never got to finish his sentence as Sesshomaru severed his head from his body in one clean swoop before putting his sword away and going back to attending to his daughter. Who quickly passed out not soon after.

Sesshomaru had saved her life that day and easily disposed of the demon that almost had Towa out matched which had angered her due to the fact that she had actually needed help when she had been so sure that she could do this on her own.

Rin scolded Towa when she got home and her father had only offered a few cold words about being able to understand one's own capabilities and that next time he might not be there to save her should she misjudge herself or her opponent in the future. Afterwards Towa lashed out and ran out of their home. She and Setsuna had an argument about her recklessness as well. Setsuna didn't understand her and Towa couldn't help but think about how over the years their father's indifference had never seemed to affect Setsuna the way that it affected her. She honestly didn't know if Setsuna would ever understand how she truly felt.

A few weeks after that incident Kagome and Inuyasha along with Miroku and Sango left the village inorder to investigate a demon claiming to be the son of Naraku. The demon had boldly declared that he planned to get revenge on everyone who had part in Naraku's demise and of course this concerned everyone when it came to the sake of their families so Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango and Miroku quickly decided that they would go and investigate this demon.

Moraha had overheard her parents talking late at night about why they were really leaving the village amd about what their moments together were like the day that they ventured off to kill Naraku for the final time and how if this demon was anything like Naraku, they should deal with him now before he tried to destroy their peace and take everything that they'd worked so hard for over the years.

Her parents thought that they were being discreet in their conversations but Moraha had heard it all and she was the only one beside Rin, Kohaku and granny Kaede to know where her parents were actually going.

Moroha had never heard her parents worry about anything in her life and hearing them speak of Naraku scared her but she didn't dare voice it. She didn't want to add to her parents' worries by letting them know that she had half heard one of their conversations. So she stayed their strong girl until the day that they left. Sending them off with a smile.

The village where the demon with the relation to Naruka was rumored to rule would take about a week for them to get there by foot and her parents told everyone that they were going to visit some old friends who had requested their help slaying a demon.

Moroha's parents had left in the morning and they had left Moroha in charge of her siblings until they returned, though her sister Yuna did most of the taking care of when it came to their younger siblings.

The second day after her parents had left Moraha went to help her cousins with a demon slaying job and afterwards she asked them along with Hisui had they ever heard the name Naraku before? The two girls had never heard the name but Hisui's demeanor changed completely.

"Naraku was a demon who cursed my family for generations. My father said that he cursed our family with black holes that killed my grandfather and great grandfather and almost him too, had Naruku not been killed by your parents."

"So he cursed your family but what's that got to do with my parents and uncle Sesshomaru?"

"Where is this coming from Moroha? You've been acting weird ever since your parents left the other day." Towa said.

Moroha looked away contemplating on whether or not to say anything. It's not like it was a secret but no one spoke about it, no one talked about Naruku ever.

"My parents and Hisui's, they left to investigate whether or not the son of Naruku is alive and out for revenge. I overheard them talking about it before they left. I've never heard my parents worried about anything before and I didn't want to add to their stress by asking them about this before they left."

"What does our dad have to do with any of this?" Setsuna asked.

"Dad said that he was already on his way to investigate before them so they might not even be needed." Moraha said.

"Well they probably didn't tell you because they most likely didn't think that it was important that you know about him. If the son of Naraku was going to be a potential threat then I doubt that they would have left you and your siblings without preparing you. Since they killed the demon's father before they probably know that they can deal with his son all the same. Demon slaying is what they did for years before you were born. Moroha, if this guy was a big threat, I'm sure that your parents would have told you. You should just trust them to get the job done and stop thinking about it." Setsuna said. Trying to reassure her cousin.

"A curse that lasted generations is a new league of demon. We've never even faced a demon who's curse lasted a week." Towa said. "Maybe you have too much faith that they'd be honest with her. To them I bet we all look like helpless children."

"Towa you're still reeling from your solo stunt. Don't listen to her, Moroha. I think that if you needed to know that they would have told you. Have your parents ever lied before?" Setsuna said.

"Hey I know who we could ask girls." Hisui interrupted. "Granny Kaeae has been here much longer than any of our parents. I'm sure that she knows about Naraku. Let's ask her and put all this to rest."

"That's a great idea!" Towa said and Setsuna glared at Hisui. His eyes darted aways from her gaze quickly once they made eye contact after having upset her.

The four of them went to Kaede's home and the old woman was delighted to have so many young people visiting.

"Look at all of my grandchildren visiting at once." The woman smiled.

"Moroha, are you finally here to learn more prayers to strengthen your spiritual powers?" The old woman smiled.

"No granny." She said unsure of how to ask what she really wanted.

"We just wanted to be in your company." Hisui said and Setsuna glanced at him before quickly looking away. The look was normal to anyone who didn't know her but Hisui could feel her calling him out with just that fleeting look alone."

"Granny, can you make us some tea please?" Towa asked. "The special tea that Moroha brought you last month is my favorite."

"Why, of course, how many cups should I get?" The old woman asked and they all asked for a cup before the old woman disappeared into the next room."

"So who's going to ask?" Moraha asked.

"Um you, you were the one who was so curious." Towa said.

"But I didn't say that we should come here, that was Hisui." Moroha whined and Setsuna smirked at Hisui being called out.

"I think her highness Setsuna should ask since she's so calm about all of this."

"Not a chance, I have no preference about finding out any information about Naruku, this is all the three of you." She said as calmly as ever.

"If that were true you would have gone home as soon as we got back to the village. You're not fooling anyone." Towa teased.

"Shut up Towa." She said curtly, and this time Hisui smirked.

"You guys." Moraha whined. "I'm the youngest, I can't ask she won't take me seriously."

"Moroha you're 16." Setsuna deadpanned.

"I'm back, children. You all did work for another village today right, how was it no one looks scratched at all." Kaedae smiled and each one of the teens took a cup of tea and exchanged glances with eachother as Towa answered for them.

"It was easy, there was a spider demon that kept attacking people in the woods. Moroha found it first and then Setsuna finished it off but there were two of them and after the first died Hisui and I were able to take care of the second one easily."

"Just like your parents I would expect nothing less." Kaedae smiled and the teens looked from one another as they sipped their tea and wondered who was going to ask what they really wanted to know.

Kaedae asked more questions and the teens all happily answered as they waited for one of them to just spit it out, each of them getting more and more anxious as the time went on.

"Granny Kaedae, who is Naraku?" Towa asked, deciding to bite first she needed to know. Moroha had sparked curiosity in her and now she had to know.

Kaedae looked at her blinking a few times as she was shocked to hear Towa asking her about him.

She looked at all of the children in response to her shock and even more shocking to her, they were patiently awaiting her answer. She quickly lost her surprise.

"Where did you hear that name? He's nothing but a ghost now. A bad memory." Kaede said somberly.

"But who was he?" Moraha questioned.

"You too girl? Hisui, have your parents ever spoken that name around you?"

"My father has once when we were visiting his old master Mushien, he told me that Naraku was a demon that lived for more than 50 years and cursed my family with black holes that killed us for 3 generations until aunt and uncle killed him."

Kaede nodded in response. "There children, that should answer your question." She was trying to be curt and not disclose more than they needed to know but they were all too sharp.

"Granny Kaedae, we know that there's more to it." Towa said. "What's Hisui's family curse got to do with my dad and Moroha's parents?"

"Yeah why would my parents be so worried about the possibility that he has a son that might be plotting against them. It doesn't make any sense as strong as my dad is, why does he care? Why does Uncle Sesshomaru care?"

"You kids this is something that you all should ask your parents. Towa, Setsuna, why not ask your mother I'm sure she'd tell you. Hisui and Moroha you as well."

"Mother is sensitive, we don't want to bring back bad memories and their parents aren't here. We know why they left, why can't you just tell us it's not like it's a secret, it's just in the past." Towa said.

Kaedae pondered what to do for a long time, closing her eyes as she thought for a moment this new generation would truly be the death of her so much like their parents yet still so uniquely themselves.

Kaede sighed, she knew that these kids weren't going to let up.

"Naraku is the reason why all of your parents came together. Though he brought everyone together it was through the worst possible methods. His story and how he connects with your parents aren't easy to hear. I understand that you all are curious but have you ever considered that your parents never brought up this old ghost out of consideration? That they just wanted to spare you from knowing about the individual hell's that they lived through at the hands of that demon. You can still choose to wait until they come back and ask them personally yourselves. I'm sure that if you really wanted to know that they would tell you. Hisui you know very well of his past with your father but your mothers past with him is even worse."

The teens paused as they considered the weight of her words. Kaede respected the children who she had watched grow up so much over the years, she loved them and she respected them enough to not coddle them if they decided that they really wanted to know the truth.

"The issue of Naraku is no longer just in the past. His son is alive and he wants revenge against my parents against all of our parents. This might soon affect all of us too." Moraha said. "If he wants revenge then I want to know how he relates to my parents and by extension to all of us. What if he tries to target the village."

"Child your parents are taking care of him as we speak you needn't concern yourself with these matters." Kaede said.

"Our parents have had our whole lives to tell us anything, they even could have told us why they were really leaving but they didn't. I want to hear from you who I trust to tell me everything." Towa said.

"I am the heir to my family. This knowledge will be my burden one day rather I hear about it now or later. I need to know the whole truth," Hisui said.

"And what about you girl?" Kaede asked Setsuna who sighed.

"Anything that you're telling to them I need to hear as well for precaution sake."

"You really are your fathers daughter." Kaedae said with a straight face and sighed.

"Very well, like I said this story is not a pretty one. Naraku was not always a demon before he was a demon. He was merely a mortal and a bandit at that his true name was Onigumo and he was nearly burned to death with wounds so severe that he couldn't even move when I came to know him.

"You knew him?!" Towa asked.

"I did before he became Naraku, but even as a mortal he was a vile man. My sister Kikyo, who her mother is the spitting image of." Kaedae gestured to Moroha. "Took pity on him and cared for him during his last days and he became infatuated with her. He was so infatuated that he let demons merge with his body and soul in order to become Naruku. Once he was reborn as a half demon he thought that he could have the woman that he claimed to love, my sister but she was already in love with Inuyasha and the two of them were planning to spend the rest of their lives together."

"In love with my dad?! But, but he would never! My mom, He loves mom!" Moroha said vexed that Kaede would imply that he had had ever had feelings for anyone other than her mother.

"He loves your mother very much but this was 50 years before they met."

"50 years!" All of the teens exclaimed except for Setsuna.

"Dad once told me that Demons don't age like mortals do. I guess neither do half demons like us." Setsuna said in a voice and demeanor that would have sounded normal to anyone else but both Hisui and Towa could tell that she sounded sad relaying that information.

"No and what happened next. only slowed down Inuyasha's aging even more. Naraku couldn't handle the fact that my sister belonged to someone else so he broke them apart. He was a shape shifting demon and he appeared to my sister wearing Inuyasha's face and attacked her breaking her heart and mortally wounding her right before appearing in front of Inuyasha with the face of Kikyo and trying to kill him as well which inturn made him storm our village and steal the sacred jewel. My sister even then couldn't bring herself to kill him so she sealed him to the tree of ages where he slept for 50 years until he was awoken by Kagome."

"What happened to your sister?" Hisui asked and Kaede's expression saddened.

"She passed that same day and took the jewel with her to the afterlife but it returned once Moroha's mother fell through the well. The reason why she and my sister are near identical is because she is her reincarnation but Moraha, you already knew that your mother was not from this time."

"I did but I had no idea that this was how my parents met."

"Ater my sister died Naraku went about spreading chaos all over the continent. As he shape shifted and schemed and placed curses. He did as he pleased, to whomever he pleased until Kagome arrived and freed Inuyasha. As soon as that happened he wanted the jewel but your mother had shattered it to pieces."

Kaedae said the last part with a light tone as she recalled the jewel being shattered and how Kagome almost always neglected to tell people that she had been the one to shatter it all those years ago, but her light voice lasted only for a moment.

"Once the jewel was shattered everything changed and Naraku tried harder and harder to kill Inuyasha, He and Kagome had met Miroku by chance while they were out trying to find pieces of the jewel but Sango's village of demon slayers was hired by Naruku who was posing as a human to kill a demon that he was controlling and when the slayers went there they were all slayed by Kohaku as Naraku forced his limbs like a puppet before he forced him to even kill Sango before killing Kohaku himself. Sango survived crawling from the dirt that was meant to be her grave with only revenge in mind and Naraku used her pain to manipulate her into going after Inuyasha framing him for her peoples murder. Sango did figure it out that she was just being played by him but at that point it was too late and he was already gone. She ended up joining Inuyasha, Kagome and Miroku in their quest to kill Naraku after that but Naruks list of crimes has no end."

"I had no idea even Uncle was." Hisui said as his head sank. "Uncle has always fought as if he doesn't fear death."

Hisui recalled his many experiences alongside Kohaku and how it all made sense that he had experienced something otherworldly and he could barely think straight after hearing such things.

Setsuna placed her hand over his so calm and so cool even now and it brought him back to reality. Her hand over his grounded him again as she gave it a firm squeeze. She didn't even look at him as she did so but just her touch alone was enough for him to know that she cared. That she was there.

"I see why they were so worried now." Moroha said in barely a whisper.

"He was a monster." Towa said.

"Indeed he was and that was just what he did to your parents and family. He did this and much worse to others, he used Kohaku for a long while, reviving him after he died and stealing his memories, forcing him to try and kill Sango multiple times as he barely held on to life. He tried to manipulate Sesshomaru into killing Inuyasha to no avail and that just made Sesshomaru despise him and his arrogance. In the end he was able to acquire all of the shards of the jewel and cast out all of his humanity but I hear that his spider burn was the only thing that always remained. No matter what he did he could never rid himself of that sacred flesh. After he completed the jewel all of you parents fought him but in the end Kagome and Inuyasha were the ones to make sure that he would never return with one last wish so this is why they all rushed away so suddenly. The person who has affected each of them in such cruel ways may have someone who wants to ruin everything that they love. Of course they'd want to stop them as soon as possible."

The four teens hadn't expected that the story of Naraku would be so twisted and each one of them left Kaedae's house shaken but with an understanding about why their parents were so worried about potentially dealing with this horrible threat again.

When night had finally hit Setsuna met Hisui at their meeting spot that they had been secretly meeting at on some nights for over three months now.

As they had left Kaedae's house earlier that day Hisui had whispered to her asking to meet at their place. The bone eaters well. Everyone was always too afraid to get too close to the well.

Get too close and you'll be eaten or disappear forever like lady Kagome almost had years ago. Those were all rumors for kids but the superstition still deterred even most adults from venturing too close to the well, most but not them the rumors never stopped them and because of these rumors the bone eaters well was the perfect place to go when you didn't want to be found especially at night.

Hisui's whole face lit up when he looked over and saw Setsuna from his place at the edge of the well. Her heart beat faster as his smile spread but she stayed calm. She was always calm and she quickly approached him but she couldn't hide the little smile that quickly tugged at the corners of her lips as he stared at her dreamily.

"There's that smile." He said cheerfully.

"How long were you waiting this time?" She asked as she sat next to him on the edge of the well. Hisui always got there before her even when she tried to be considerate and meet him first so that she could show him that she cared for him enough to wait too. She often wondered why romance was so difficult.

"How long have I been waiting? hmmm, maybe a minute or two." He lied and she could tell.

"Yeah right." She said before quickly pecking him on the cheek. Making him blush deep.

Every time Setenta had tried to arrive early to wait for him in the past, he would always beat her to it. It was frustrating and when she finally voiced what she was trying to do he had laughed so adorably and embarrassingly at her.

"You don't have to do that." He said. "I already know how much you care for me. I come early because I want to. The sooner I get here the sooner I see you so why wouldn't I come early?" He had said that all those nights ago as if it were an obvious fact.

"Ahhh too sneaky!" He said in reaction to her unexpected kiss. As a light blush covered his face and she could see it even under the light of the moon.

"Did you not like it? Then I won't do that anymore." She said seriously and Hisui believe her.

"N-No! I didn't hate it!" He started quickly and he caught her smirking at him. He paused and they stared at each other for a moment before she laugh lightly at having scared him

"You're more mischievous than Moroha."

"You choose to buy my bluff." She said facing forward and completely calm while she teased him coyly.

"Your bluffs?"

Setsuna never bluffs.

"You haven't bluffed a day in all of your 17 years." He said and she got him again leaning close to him and kissing his face quickly again and again now as she held his hand and got close to him, she wasn't even attempting to hide her amused smirk.

He wasn't given a chance to recover from the first kiss so he closed his eyes. He couldn't look at her. If he did then he would surely lose to her cutenesses and he was not going to let her win. Not this time at least. He calmed himself as he felt her touch his other hand as well. He opened his eyes and immediately looked into her beautiful violet eyes.

Big mistake.

But he stayed strong. "This is war." He whispered before squeezing her right hand back while letting go of the other and leaning closer to her capturing her lips in a sweet kiss that made her gasp against his lips as he smiled against her lips and she kissed him back her other hand grabbed his shoulder while his free hand gently held the back of her head and his fingers gently glode through her midnight hair as the two lovers got lost under the light of the moon.

Hisui pulled back first, catching his breath as he looked at her moon lit face and saw cheeks dusted pink after his kisses. This filled him with pride and his own cheeks he imagined were flushed as well but that didn't stop him from what he said next.

"I believe that I won." He smiled as he cupped her cheek.

"It wasn't a competition." She stated matter of factly.

"I'm not going to fall for your bluffs again." He insisted.

She laughed. Hisui always made her do things that she didn't do often. "Fine you can win my love, are you satisfied?" She asked with a genuine smile.

"No saying my love to me so casually, late at night." He blushed deeply again and she pulled him closer in her arms. Maybe this was why she loved him. He had always been a safe place to lay down her defenses, how could she not love him for that.

"He buried his face in her hair as he leaned down and she held him tighter.

"Are you okay after what happened today? I hope that what Kaede said hasn't been too heavy on your mind." Setsuna asked. Hisui kept his arms around her as she pulled back to look at his face.

"I'm fine Set, I just can't believe that a demon like that actually existed for so long and that we all knew next to nothing about him. The way that Granny Kaede spoke, it sounded like Naraku had thrived for over 50 years. Had Kagome never fallen through the well, would Naruku have lived another 50 more years? Would I have been cursed too and have never known my father? Now that I know the truth about Naraku. I can't help but feel an eerienes when I think about what my life could have been like." Hisui said.

"Narauku was a powerful demon but he wasn't unmatched in the end even he was brought to his knees. He was no match in the face of true power. When I hear the story of Naraku, of the demonted puppet master, I Think that it's clear that he was weak all on his own. He wielded power through his lies and deceptions so that others could carry out his will and when he thought that he was perfect, people with real power destroyed him, and those are the people who raised us, Hisui. The people who have real strength just like we do, so even if it hadn't happened within our parents' generation, I think that one day our family's would have met and destroyed Naraku all the same. We shouldn't dwell on what could have been when all that matters is that it wasn't. Narauku is a dead man and the dead have no power over the living anymore, even if he did have a son he's not him. He could never do what his father did not now." Setsuna said as she looked into Hisui's eyes and he sighed before pressing his forehead to hers.

"You always manage to ease my mind when I'm haunted."

"You just think too abstractly and not precisely. When you're precise it's easier to think of the root of the problem." She said as he took her hands in his lightly kissing the back of them.

"You got upset today." He whispered.

"No I didn't." She stated plainly and he looked into her eyes again.

"You looked sad when recalling how long demons live."

"Oh that, I've accepted my fate." She said matter of factly.

"You're fate?" Hisui asked quizzically.

"Uncle was bound to that tree for over 50 years and never aged a day according to Granny Kaedae. He was the son of a noble lady and now that village where he was from no longer remembers either of their names. One day Towa and I will outlive everyone that we love and our welcome here in this village will one day be over stayed because of that. It's just a fact of life."

Hisui stayed quiet for a long moment. He didn't know what to say to her, what should he say to such thoughts? He always figured that he'd spend the rest of his life with her but the rest of his life in comparison might only be a small fraction of time in her life.

"Maybe you will have many more years than I'll ever know but when you're feeling alone or upset and still refuse to voice your own unrest to anyone who might care, do you promise that you'll always think of me first and how I would hold you until your mind was at ease even if you still choose to not tell me? Will you think of what we said to each other the first time that we ever met out here alone together? If you promise to do that no matter where you are no matter who you might meet then I suppose that I'll live as long as you do just as long as you never forget me." He said and He met every word.

Setsuna was trying to tell him that being with someone who's time is not limited would be difficult but that didn't matter not to him. All that matters was how he felt about her and how she felt about him.

"I could never forget, I am only ever going to love one person?" She said calmly.

"And so will I. So promise me. Promise that I will live forever because you'll remember me." He said eyes never once leaving hers as he spoke.

"I promise." She whispered as if, if she spoke it louder the promise would be undone.

"We might not have forever but it doesn't matter because we have right now and what we have between us is worth it no matter how long we have together I'd rather be with you. I'd always choose you." Hisui said.

"Me too." Setsuna said. "I'd rather be with you too. I want to make memories with you that will last even longer than me." She smiled.

"Does this mean that you're finally ready to marry me?" Hisui smiled.

"You just stopped courting Princess Aiya three months ago." Setsuna said but just the thought of actually getting married to him was making her blush.

Hisui rolled his eyes. "That was an arranged affair and I didn't know that you felt the same back then. I'm ready to officially ask your father's permission whenever you want me to." He stated seriously.

"Asking my father is unnecessary." Setsuna said. "He's a great demon, he couldn't care less about my affairs."

"To not ask your father would mean that I'm not serious about you and I would never dishonor your reputation like that."

"No marriage yet but I think that I'm ready to let people know that we're together."

"Openly courting means that our time alone together will become supervised." He said annoyed by that fact.

"Well then in that case we had better continue with these discreet meetings."

"No question." Hisui said before kissing the girl he loved once more under the stars.

A.N:

I hope that you all liked this first chapter. I've never posted a story before so I apologize for any errors.

It always bothered me how in Yashahime Inuyasha and Kagome didn't get to have happily ever after, after everything that they had been through in both the main series and the final act so I wanted to write a next generation story where everyone got to be a part of their children's lives. The old cast won't be the main focus of this story but there will be a lot of mentions of them in the beginning and we will see them later on. I also decided to age the characters up in the story so they might feel a little more mature at times because all of them except for Hisui are older teenagers. I'm going to do my best to try to write everyone as close to in character as I can, though I do think that some things will change about certain characters. I have a lot of fun writing Setsuna and Hisui's relationship so I hope that Setsuna doesn't feel too out of character later on down the line but I feel like being in a romantic relationship would change her in some ways. Towa's character as well as the main plot and villain will be the biggest differences between this story and the show. I didn't really like Towa's character in the show that much so I kind of changed her to be a little more head strong since she grew up in her original time with her family. Thank you for reading and I hope that you enjoyed this chapter. Next chapter should be up on Saturday.
