"Mamma, Look! A wild Fennekin!" A young boy pointed at the Fennekin, its body littered with scratches. The boy looked around six in age; he wore a black scarf around his neck with slanting red lines. His eyes widened with concern as he stumbled across the Fennekin who lay in a nearby patch of grass
"Oh my!" The older woman gasped, her blue eyes looking at the poor pokemon.
The boy ran over to the Fennekin, scooping it off the ground before his mother could protest. He stroked the unconscious creature; its fur felt rough and matted to the touch. Looking closely, he noticed that their leg was severely damaged by a large gash.
"Be careful, honey! You could get burnt or scratched!" The woman rushed over to him.
"Can't you do something, mamma!? We need to help it!" The boy pleaded.
The mother sighed, "Alright. There should be a pokemon center up ahead." She picked the Fennekin in her arms and rushed to the pokemon center along with the boy. Little did they know that the Fennekin was awake; her one eye was open, looking over at the boy who struggled to keep up with his mother.
A moment passed as the door to the pokemon cent slid open Nurse Joy greeted them with a smile. "Welcome! What can I do for you?" She had a pleasant smile on her face.
"We found a wild Fennekin who was gravely injured and needed immediate medical attention." She responds.
Nurse Joy gasps at the sight before nodding, "I'll take care of her right away. Please have a seat over there." She points to a row of seats before taking the pokemon and rushes off.
The two sat next to each other, hoping for good news. The boy tugged on his mother's sleeve, "Mamma, do you think Fennekin will be okay?"
She could help but smile at her son's bright big blue worried eyes as they glistened from the sunlight. She reached out and gently rubbed his back, "Don't worry, I'm sure Fennekin will be just fine!"
The boy nods, "Alright, mamma." The two sat in silence, only disrupted by the ticking of a nearby clock. After an hour of waiting, the classic jingle played along with Nurse Joy walking out holding a healthier Fennekin.
They both walked up to Nurse joy as Fennekin hopped down from her hands onto the smooth countertop before losing balance. That's when the boy realized that one of her front paws was shorter than the others, with a white bandage wrapped around the front right leg. Nurse joy sighed, "While we were able to save her, unfortunately, it cost her leg."
The mother looked down at the poor Fennekin as she struggled to balance herself. "Do you have any suggestions on what we should do?"
Nurse joy thought for a moment before looking down at Fennekin, "Well, she can't be in the wilderness in this state since she isn't used to walking. I suggested either the nearby daycare on route seven or taking her home with you."
"Hm, well, we live in Lumiose city, so it might not be the best for Fennekin to live there with all the hustle that goes around. Being around other pokemon in a more natural environment would probably work better." She replied.
"Aww, can't we keep her?" The young boy pleaded.
"Sorry, hun, but it's better for her to be somewhere comfortable than somewhere noisy like the city." She patted the boy's head, which in turn caused him to puff his cheeks.
"But-"
"Ah, Ah, no buts." She bent down to his level, "Listen, buddy, think of it this way: if you had to choose between living in your house or a cave, what would you pick?"
"My house." The boy instantly replied.
His mother couldn't help but giggle at his response, "And why is that?"
"Because sleeping on the rocks would be really really uncomfortable!" The boy exclaimed live it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"See? That's how Fennekin here would feel. I don't know about you, but I'm sure Fennekin here would feel uncomfortable somewhere in someplace loud and noisy than someplace nice and quiet." She says as she pats the boy's head.
"Okay..." The boy solemnly looks at Fennekin.
The mother turns back to Fennekin, letting her arm out to allow her to climb onto her. However, Fennekin turned her head away defiantly, much to the surprise of Nurse Joy and the mother.
"Oh my!" Nurse joy expresses her surprise.
Fennekin opens one eye and looks at the young boy. Nodding as if making an important decision, she leaped upward onto the boy's shoulder. She lost her footing in the process and almost tumbled if it wasn't for the boy who noticed and swiftly caught her. She sighed before carefully crawling onto the top of his head. Her paws slumped over his head before letting out a yawn of contentment.
Nurse Joy smiled at the two as she giggled, "It seems Fennekin has taken a liking to him."
The boy looked at his mother with pleading eyes as if saying, 'can we please keep her?'
"No, you already know my answer." She sighs. The boy puffs his cheeks as Fennekin turns her head away again.
The mother let out her hand, "Come on honey, let's go."
"Fine..." The boy reluctantly grabbed her hand as they walked away.

"Welcome!" A lady greeted the three as they walked in, "What can I do for you?"
"Hi, we have a wild Fennekin who has a missing leg we found. We were wondering if you could take care of her for a while. Nurse Joy suggested coming here to take care of her," the woman informed the daycare lay.
"For sure! We'll be sure to take good care of her," she smiles.
Fennekin hops from the boy's head onto the counter. She manages to balance herself onto the table. She turns towards the boy before lowering her head and inviting him to pet her.
"Goodbye Fennekin..." The boy sighs in defeat as he strokes her soft yellow fur.
"Fen..." She mumbled as she nuzzled deeper into his hand.
"Don't worry, Fennekin will be happy here," his mother reassures him. "Alright, we should go."
"Okay," The boy grabs her hand as they walk away.
"Take care!" The daycare lady smiles.
"You too!" The boy's mother responds.
The boy looked over his shoulder one last time as their eyes made contact.

Fennekin POV
It's been a month since I met that boy, and things have never been better. Or that is what I wish I could say! It's boring around this place, don't get me wrong, the baths feel heavenly against my fur, especially when they groom me. I also learned to balance myself on my three legs; it's tedious work, but I managed to get it down.
Otherwise, it's too boring! Pokemon have it against me because of my stump. They aren't mean to me, but they keep their distance; honestly, it's a pain!
All this time, I couldn't get that human boy out of my head. He helped me no after being abandoned by my trainer, though he doesn't deserve that title at all! That title should be given to someone worthy, like that boy!
As I lay beside a nearby bush, I let out a sigh of frustration. Perhaps I could see that boy again, that's a genius idea! I've had it with this place, although I feel bad about the lady.
I think back to what that boy said, something about living in Lumiose city. I look around my surroundings to see if there is somewhere to escape. Searching around, I notice a wide gap in the fence that I could squeeze my body through. I notice one of the workers looking away; this is my chance! Without a second thought, I dash through the gate.
"Hey!" One of the workers called out as they spotted me. I didn't turn back and continued on the path. I slightly recognize the path they took when they carried me. Everything before the pokemon center was fuzzy from when I blacked out to the point they first found me.
I recall someplace called Lumiose city; it's where my previous trainer got me, unfortunately. I could understand why they mistook me for a wild pokemon. I vaguely got an idea of what a city is from the time I spent in Lumiose city. Though it was only for a day, so I don't remember much. What could go wrong!?
000
Everything can go wrong from the moment I got off the grass, it's been nothing but pain and misery! I managed to find the so-called 'city' after trial and error but it's so damn noisy! I can't believe it's so loud, the constant noises and sounds have quickly become overwhelming.
I hear some horns as I look over I see a box quickly heading my direction. I quickly scamper out of the way just as it whizzes past me. I sigh in relief as I carry on, looking around I see the same buildings over and over. I swear I passed the same spot five times.
The city circled the area it seemed, no place seemed different than the others. That's when I caught a faint whiff of something, it wasn't food. It smelled familiar, like that boy! I remember catching something familiar when I sat on his head. Without a second thought, I ran toward the smell.
As the smell grew, I had a smile on my face. I can't wait to see his reaction when he sees me! I finally reach it, and to my disappointment, I notice that it's nothing. Just some kind of long scarf, it was black with red stripes running down it. I sniffed it before I noticed the same scent again, not too far from where I was. My eye widened as I recognized the scarf, it was the same one that the boy wore.
I grabbed the scarf with my teeth before chasing the newly acquired scent. After running past building after building, person after person, I found one building that was identical to the others. I noticed the scent grew stronger the closer I got, especially toward the second window.
I looked around, trying to find a way in. I noticed a box nearby that sat ideally next to the window. This was it, I took a deep breath before sprinting; I jumped onto the box and quickly jumped onto the overhang. Unfortunately, my front left paw slipped and slid downwards. Luckily, the scarf got caught on something, allowing me to get my paw onto the edge. Slowly and carefully, I hoist myself back onto the platform. I tugged on the scarf as it finally let go, with the scarf back in my mouth, I walked toward the window. There, I saw the boy sitting on a chair; I pawed at the window grabbing his attention.
His eyes widened as he saw me rushing toward the window, almost tripping; he flipped it open. "Fennekin, what are you doing here!?"
He grabbed me and lifted me into his room before shutting the window. He sat me on his desk before looking at the scarf, "You brought me my scarf!? Thank you, I was looking for it!" I let go of the scarf as he grabbed it from me.
"My mamma's out for the day right now, so it's just us!" He walked toward the bed before lying in it. He patted beside him, inviting me to lay with him, "When mamma get's home I'll have to hind you, I don't want her to find you." I jump onto his bed, curling beside him I feel his hand run down my back. "But for now, I wanna cuddle!" I smile; yeah, this is where I was meant to be.

Third Person POV
"I'm home!" The boy's mother called out as she took off her shoes. She sighed as she grabbed a chair, pulling it from the table she sat on for a moment before deciding to head to her room. Strolling down the hallway and passing her son's room, she noticed panicked shuffling outside his room.
Curiosity grabbed her as she slowly made her way to her son's room. She wasn't one to intrude on her son's privacy, but she couldn't help but intrude just this once. She opened the door and saw him slam his closet door shut as he turned around to meet her face. He spread his arms behind him, blocking whatever was in the closet.
"O-Oh, mamma, you're back! I-I didn't see you there!" He nervously chuckled.
"Yeah, I just got back. What are you doing?" She asked.
"I just finished cleaning my room!" He said.
Her eyebrow raised, "Uh-huh, mind me checking your closet then?"
"No! I-I mean it's all messy and stuff!" The boy tries to reason.
"But you said it's clean right?" She asked with a slightly teasing voice.
"Well, it's just-"
"Uh-huh..." She gently moves him to the side as she opens the door. Her eyes widen at the sight of the three-legged Fennekin hiding in the corner.
"Oh geez, I wonder how she got in there?" He attempts to play it off to no avail.
She picked up the pokemon before turning around, "Mind telling me what happened?"
The young boy scratched his head, "Well, funny story actually."

She sighed, "So that's how it is? Alright, I'll return here and then-"
"Can't we keep her, please?" The boy and Fennekin's eyes became so vast that they might as well have been using 'Baby-Doll Eyes.'
She sighed in defeat once more, "Alright fine, but promise me you'll take care of her."
The young boy grinned before hugging her leg, "Thank you, thank you!"
She ruffled his hair before turning around, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a day-care lady to apologize to."
The boy looked up at the Fennekin who propped herself on his head. They both smiled at each other causing his mom to smile at the adorable scene in front of her.
She shut the door as the boy jumped onto the bed, "Did you hear that Fennekin? You get to stay!" He grabbed Fennekin and lifted her into the air while kicking his legs, "I gotta tell I-chan!"
000
FennekFighter: "I-chan, guess what?"
I-Chan: "Hey, Hey, Heeey! What's uppp?"
FennekFighter: "So, remember that Fennekin I told you about?"
I-Chan: "Oh, Oh! The one with three legs?"
FennekFighter: "Yeah, that one! Well, look who showed up."
FennekFighter has shared an image.
The picture depicts a young boy holding a piece sign with a Fennekin on his head as the two smiles.
I want to make it clear that Iono and the main character won't meet for a while. This is going to be based on the anime but while the characters from the anime specifically may appear, they aren't going to be the main focus except for a few. The first few chapters will focus on the past before moving on. This is my second story that I'm publishing, and just thought this was a fun idea, I will continue.
