Temporary Tokyo-III Residence

A bedroom.

Naoko shifted slightly, clutching onto the warm body beside her. The body, in return, simply nuzzled Naoko, its smooth skin making contact with hers. Naoko felt safe and warm for a moment, albeit with a splitting headache.

A feminine mumble came from the person she clutched onto. It sounded all too familiar to her, very familiar. Her eyes slowly opened and doing her best to keep it open, Naoko tried to keep conscious and not succumb to the exhaustion that kept trying to fight her.

She shifted ever so slightly and turned around, only for her face to be met with the breasts of another woman. Her calculating mind slowly began to put pieces together, piecing together a face she couldn't forget.

One that she… despised?

Looking up from her breasts, Naoko stared directly at the still-sleeping face of one Yui Ikari.

Panic engulfed Naoko's mind as she so desperately wanted to crawl away and scream, but she couldn't. She didn't want to make the situation she was in even worse. She had no idea how Yui would react to this.

Yui was a married woman and already had a child. Why in god's name was Naoko sleeping with her?!

And why was Yui sleeping with her?...

Snapping out of her recursive panic-induced thinking, she heard the bedsheets crinkle and saw Yui's eyes staring directly at hers. There was a blush on her face, which only deepened Naoko's red face.

"G-Good morning…" Yui awkwardly whispered.

There was absolute silence, save for the fan in the background, wafting cool air around.

"M-Morning."

. . . .

"Well, I suppose we should… Get dressed now."

Yui said with an embarrassed voice. Naoko took a look at herself and saw her own nude figure.

"Yeah…"

Slipping her blouse on, Naoko couldn't help but ponder what Yui could be thinking at this moment. She had already put on her clothing the fastest and was sitting by herself on the opposite side of the room. She hadn't said a word since then.

She looked as if she was deep in thought.

Naoko wouldn't blame her, so was she earlier. She didn't know how to process this either. Yui had essentially cheated on her husband, albeit in a drunken state.

Naoko checked her phone and saw several missed calls from Ritsuko and one from Kozo. She feared what either of them wanted to say to her. But she could only guess that Ritsuko wanted to know where she and Yui were, due to Shinji being in her care.

Sighing, she put the phone back in her purse, and turned to see Yui anxiously waiting on her. She didn't seem too happy with this situation.

"Do you have your keys Naoko? This… Is my apartment, you know…"

Looking around, Naoko saw Gendo and Yui's items all around the room, including a framed photo of the two. A feeling of disgust rose within her as she took in the many conflicted feelings that washed over her.

"Yeah… I have them."

There was an awkward silence between them before it was disturbed by a cell phone ringing.

Knowing that it was hers, Naoko took it back out of her purse, and saw it was Ritsuko calling. Sighing, she took a glance at Yui, who only nodded before she finally answered it.

"Yes dear?..."

"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?!"

Still feeling the slight effects of the hangover, Naoko winced in pain at the loud and sudden yell coming from the other end.

"Jeez, calm down… I was… at a friend's house…"

"Just get back here. I haven't been able to reach Ms Ikari about Shinji either. If you see her, let her know to call me."

Looking back, Naoko saw Yui glancing at her, a concerned expression plastered on her face.

"I'll… Let her know… I'll be home soon, just give me some time."

There was a pause before a groan came through.

"Fine. But please hurry…"

Click!*

. . .

Naoko pulled the phone away from her ear and stared at it. She definitely did not want to tell Ritsuko where she was and she didn't want to leave her young daughter alone at home any longer than she needed to. Taking a moment to collect herself, she placed the cellphone back in her purse, and took a glance back at Yui.

"I'll be heading out now… I'll see you on Monday."

"Yeah. I'll be seeing you…"

With that, Naoko hurriedly walked out of the apartment, leaving Yui by herself.

Looking over to her nightstand, she saw her phone laying there. Reluctantly she grabbed it and opened it up, seeing a few missed calls. Three from Gendo, two from Kozo, and two from Maria.

Pondering who to respond to first, she stood in silence before making her choice.

"YuYu? Everything alright?"

"Mari, can you come over, please?

. . .

"I'll be there soon."

This was a simple fic idea that I had. It'll be a few short chapters that I'll hopefully continue on. I've been dealing with a lot of stress behind the scenes so progress on most of my fics have been extremely slow. I promise I'm trying to work on them.

Thank you for being patient-
