The Funeral (The Father- 1933)
His son- dead. All his hopes and dreams- dashed. Destroyed. Ruined. Never will he be an Attorney. Never will he go to Columbia. Never will he be a success.
"He was just a failure anyways.".
His mother. And now he's alone with her. No son to bear the burden of her nagging for him anymore.
The casket lowers into the ground.
And the priest intones "May perpetual light shine over him…."
But he knows the truth. His son died a disappointment. Just another mad dog assassin. A thug, a gangster. The laws of war, that's all he had. That and maybe the constitution of The United States of America. The bodyguards should have taken him into custody rather than killing him. After all, Corleone lived. Barely.
Oh well, his son chose that life. He knew the risks. Died a disappointment. It happens.
Drive on. It doesn't me anything. Drive on.
Live to survive.
"Drive on. It don't mean nothing. It don't mean nothing. Drive on.".
