Welcome back demonfolk. We now have come to the first original chapter of this fanfic. The attempt of the formation of the cover metal group kickstarted by Momo, Namahage Night. Now I decided once the recent episode of Helluva Boss was released, I'd begin working on this one. And here we are. Needless to say, Western Energy is one of the few episodes...let's just say in better words to avoid spoilers that it left me at the edge of my seat by the time this is released. And by the time this is released, we are on the mid-season stretch of Season 2 with the release of the Mammon special
Oh...but this episode will introduce four newcomers and a villain...don't worry, they're not part of I.M.P. They're rather a part of the band if it succeeds. But you'll see how. Also did I forget to mention that these four are demonic versions of the birds we have. The first one based on a bird I had never heard of before til now...also at the end, you'll see some VA choices here and an explanation.
No time to waste: let's get to work.
Chapter 4: Namahage Night
It had been days since I.M.P had stood in the way of the Greed mafia boss and Moxxie's father, Crimson Knolastname. I.M.P had decided after a few of it's assassinations that they'd take a few day vacation so that they can rest up for next assassinations that are in. With that said, Momo, Draiman, Thom, and Mau5 had decided to begin the formation of their band, Namahage Night.
The four discussed the instruments that they desire to use, "I've seen you with a guitar before. So I think I have some ideas," Thom suggested. Draiman looked at the cyberimp, "What do you suggest? Please tell me I get to play an awesome instrument!" Draiman begged, "Yeah! Me too!" Mau5 pleaded.
Momo chuckled, "I have been going over some notes. I had some ideas," he handed the metal demon a piece of paper. Draiman took it and looked at it, "Me? A bass player?" he asked. He thought for a few minutes, "I've always wanted to shred a guitar but a bass guitar...eh, it's better than nothing," he shrugged before passing the paper to Mau5, who studied it.
"I get to bang the drums! :-D," Mau5 shouted and raises his arms with excitement, even if his voice sounded just like how it was with his Microsoft Sam voice. Momo could tell the excitement based on his body language.
Thom was next, "Synthesizers? Not bad. But wait, who will provide vocals?" he spoke up.
"Oh shit, you're right! I almost forgot that part. The most important thing you need for a cover band is the vocals...luckily I've been practicing with Verosika so I can handle the task," Momo assured.
"Oh...well then I guess we should be all set," Draiman replied.
"Almost. I don't want this to be JUST a cover band. We need flavor. Any ideas?" Momo asked.
Draiman, Thom, and Mau5 began to think of something. After a several long minutes that dragged, Draiman spoke up, "You know what can make a heavy metal band awesome if there were music videos and live events? Costumes," Draiman suggested.
"Costumes! Say that's not a bad idea, I mean what kind of costumes?" Thom asked.
"Well, considering our band name, I think us dressing as heavy metal boogeymen would be suffice?" Momo wondered.
"Boogeymen?" Draiman asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Hai! You're probably wondering that. In my younger youth, I was told the story of yokai called the namahage. And this is where the boogeyman aesthetic comes in. See, every koshogatsu, or the first full moon of the New Year, these demons descend from the mountains to scare villagers, hence the boogeyman type. Like trick or treaters, they go from door to door and will ask the question, "Koko ni warui ko wa imasu ka?" or "Any bad kids here?" Like any Halloween night, they enjoy scaring children and new brides. Despite how they look and the whole boogeyman aesthetic, actually now that I think about it, I don't think they deserve to be called boogeymen at all. More like...gargoyles." Momo explained.
"Wow...uh...Japan is weird," Draiman opined.
"Yeah, we get that alot," Momo concurred, rolling his eyes.
"So, what do they look like?" Mau5 asked.
Momo took out his phone and looked up a picture before showing it to them. They looked like onis, just like Momo is as a Sinner. Namahages had bright red or blue skin, wild hair and eyes, large mouths full of sharp teeth, and often have horns sprouting from their forehead. They wore straw leggings and raincoats and carry large blades.
Draiman scoffed, "Really? That's what they wear? Pfft, how boring. Why don't we change it up a bit to say...give a futuristic look. Like maybe replace the straw leggings and raincoats with chains and metal suits?"
"That...actually doesn't sound too bad," Momo responded.
For the rest of the day, they discussed the types of songs they would cover. And on top of that, give live events a sort of story to them. Of why the futuristic namahage go from city to city looking for the wicked and if they step out of line, they would punish them. And any of them that committed violent crimes: executed. The oni liked this idea. So, after discussion, they headed back to their respective homes to plan.
But comes the challenging part: what record company would work.
The next day, Momo was meditating. The lingering idea of a futuristic Edo period Japan had caught up with him and the idea of a group of namahage scaring folks straight and punishing criminals seems like an idea. However, the designs that Draiman mentioned had to work. Just then, his hellphone vibrated and he picked it up. To his surprise, it was a message from Octavia.
"Via? What's going on?" Momo wondered.
The text that Octavia had sent mentioned something called the Calamity Coven. Octavia instructed Momo to meet at the park. The oni does so.
As he arrived, he saw Mau5 and Thom there, as well as Verosika and Octavia. Verosika? What is she doing here and what are they watching? Momo thought. A crowd was watching, and a song was about to start. Swirling around were what looked like four demonic birds. Each of them based on a different bird species: an African Grey parrot, a potoo, a toucan, and a harpy eagle. They were dressed as jesters. And there was an illusion of a circus tent. Seeing this made Octavia uneasy considering it reminded her of Loo-Loo Land, which is currently still being repaired.
The head jester which was the harpy eagle, excitedly announced herself as the head ringmaster of the Calamity Coven, simply named Cassie, "Hello ladies and gentledemons, imps, hellhounds, Overlords, and sinners! We all heartlessly welcome to our little circus tonight! As we perform our scariest trick to the song from a beloved heavy symphony band, Nightwish...and their song...Scaretale!" Cassie said, waving her hands that showed an illusion of creeping hands.
"So they're called Calamity Coven. You heard of them before, Verosika?" Momo asked.
The pop star shrugged. It seems they are alien to her.
"I can explain. Calamity Coven is a group of sinners that have fallen to Hell one day. They are performers that do illusion tricks based on songs. Mostly a band called Nightwish. The members of this group is Darcy, Akko, Flatwood, and the ringmaster of the performers, Cassie the Illusionist. They are expert special effects artists and master illusionists," she explained.
A scare chord was heard as ghostly children began circling the audience singing Ring-a-Ring-Roses as the instruments was in a crescendo. After that, a choir of creepy children was heard singing. After a few minutes, Darcy, the parrot, made illusions of the instruments being played as if she was conducting as the ghosts began to make choir shouts. Akko, the potoo, made an illusion of herself as a scary enchantress as guitars began to strum. And she began to sing the lyrics.
Akko: Once upon a time in a daymare
Dying to meet you, little child, enter enter this sideshow
Time for bed the cradle still rocks
13 chimes on a dead man's clock
tick tock, tick tock, tick tock
The illusion showed a child surrounded by shadows with creepy and spindly fingernails, with the cradle rocking and the clock chiming. After a few minutes...
Akko: The bride will lure you, cook you, eat you
Your dear innocence boiled to
Feed the evil in need of fear
Burning farms and squeeeeealing pigs!
A pool of snakes to swim with
Oh sweet poison, bite me, bite me
The bite me lyric echoed throughout the area, giving the crowd, Momo and friends included, the shivers. Akko seemed to be really good at making her voice siren-like and something a nasty witch from a fairy tail would say. The illusion of the tent began to open all over, revealing a circus of ghosts, ghouls, gremlins, vampires, all sorts of demons.
Flatwood made his appearance as a ringmaster and announcer.
Flatwood: Ladies and gentlemen!
Be heartlessly welcome!
To Cirque de Morgue!
And what a show we have for you tonight!
Momo was intrigued. Perhaps they could be the special effects for the band.
Minutes later, Momo, Verosika, Octavia, Mau5, and Thom were searching for Calamity Coven. The samurai oni was so inspired by them that he wanted to converse with them. And they saw that there was a sewer cover in the park. Last he was here, there wasn't one. This must be an illusion.
"Hmm...this sewer cover looks oddly suspicious," Mau5 noted before knocking on it. A voice was heard from below, "If this is the wackjob businessman coming to sell us out, kindly fuck off," the voice said. "What the fuck! How dare you say-"
"Mau5!" the groups said, pulling the cyberimp away before he could make a retort, "Relax, we're not what you think we are. This is someone who was intrigued with your performance and wants to know you alot more," Momo called to them.
There was silence before the yokai heard a sigh of relief, "Oh a fan? Well, then that's different. Hold a sec,"
The sewer porthole vanished, revealing a trapdoor, it opened, allowing the group to climb down. The door closed above them as the sewer porthole reappeared. The toucan sinner was dressed in normal clothing compared to when the group were dressed as jesters.
"I wonder why a sewer porthole of all things," Thom said.
They walked into a room of magic and illusions. Akko was seen practicing her illusions, "Hey pals, looks like we got some fans here who are crying for knowledge," said the toucan demon in a nonchalant manner.
The group turns to Momo and his friends, "Well we're not ready for autographs just yet," said the African grey.
"Oh, actually we're here because I'm curious about your effects. How did you do all that?" Momo asked.
"Well, if you must know, it was years of practice after being sent here to Hell," Akko answered, "It was thanks to getting these powers that we've decided to use them to put smiles to hellions everywhere."
"That brings us to our next question: how did you end up in Hell?" Thom quizzed.
"Oh, well we were special effects artists and magicians. The independent kinds. As for how we ended up here? Well, we were training for our next act but then something went wrong that caused our demise," Konga added.
"Wow...that sucks," Via muttered, "Either that, or you would rather see what Hell looked like if you died," she added. Darcy shrugged.
"For names, the name is Darcy," the African grey introduced.
"Akko," the potoo introduced.
"Konga's the name," said the toucan.
"And Cassie," said the harpy eagle.
Momo introduced himself and his girlfriend and friends. Darcy got all excited when Momo did his own way of introducing himself, seeing all the arnaments and the oni look, "OMG! You look like a badass swordsman from an anime!" she said excitedly.
"Really? Would it excite you if I said I could wield these scimitars like they were claws?" the oni asked. This caused Akko to geek out as well.
Octavia chuckled before asking them something, "This begs a question. Why do you hide here and make this your home?"
"Well, someone does not appreciate our magic nor understands it and wants us out of the park. As a matter of fact, someone had been stalking us. We don't even know what their intentions are," Cassie sighed.
"Just what we need. Some asshole trying to kick out potential stars," Mau5 groaned in his own cyberimp way.
"Do you know who is trying to drive you out?" Verosika queried.
"Oh some guy. From rumors, he seems to be a successful crime boss in all of Hell," Darcy said, her tone a bit serious.
This made Momo raise an eyebrow. Crime boss? That sounded like a certain one from the Greed Ring he with I.M.P had tussled with days ago. A certain mafia boss that nearly tried to force the marriage between Moxxie and Chaz. Crimson? What the hell does he want with the park? Is he trying to establish territory for power? Momo thought.
Unknown to them, when they entered the underground place earlier, someone had been spying on them. The spy took out his hellphone, took a picture, and then contacted someone, "Sir, we may have located the hideout of Calamity Coven," the spy said.
A familiar voice spoke from the phone, "About time we found out their secret hideaway," he said.
"Boss, it seems Momo and a few friends, as well as two others who I think are with I.M.P are there," the shark demon said.
"I had a feeling that guy would appear again! Don't engage. We'll strike at night when they're not around. Capture the Calamity Coven then," Crimson ordered.
"Understood, boss," the criminal acknowledged, followed by Crimson hanging up.
The trapdoor opened up as Momo, Thom, Mau5, Verosika, and Octavia exited out. The illusion was put on again. The shark demon then pulled out to begin planning with Crimson.
Meanwhile, with Crimson...
Crimson was at his desk, talking to a hired gun on the phone through a video recording. The hired assassin he was talking to appeared to be a demon that resembled an old man devil in a business suit. Around him were floating mechanical eyeballs and he had tendrils on his back. He had the resemblance of an undertaker. His hat had a sort of demonic mouth on it.
"So, you're a necromancer. Never seen assassins like that before. Intriguing," Crimson spoke.
"Not only do I kill them to add them to my army...I modify them for conventional uses," said the assassin.
"Well, I need someone to make sure that my takeover of the park in Pride goes smoothly. And we got enemies who are willing to get in our way. That's why I hired you, Jeremiah Grimm aka the Big Man. If you can deliver me the Calamity Coven, I'll consider it," Crimson offered.
"I part with these words to say to you...the funeral is about to begin...sir!" said the Big Man before hanging up.
Crimson chuckled. He knew with him, he could begin removing someone from I.M.P after the humiliation he suffered.
Later that night...
Several criminal shark demons surrounded the park. It was then that the Big Man appeared alongside what appeared to be zombified imps that had jack-o-lantern masks to hide their faces.
"Yo, who is this guy?" questioned one of the gang members.
"A hired gun?" answered one of the demons said.
The zombie imps chittered. He glared at the sharks with one eyebrow raised, as if to tell them to wait til they are lured out. He then raised his hand and one of the zombie imps sniffs for the hidden entrance, stopping right by the sewer porthole. The Big Man then teleported to it and then sent an eyeball down after silently opening the trapdoor.
Inside, Akko was getting bottled water from the cooler when he heard the trapdoor opened. Quickly, she used her illusion powers to hide from whatever entered the room. The mechanical eyeball looked around and then saw the sleeping quarters. It then saw Cassie, Konga, and Darcy sleeping. Once found...it uttered a shrilling screech, forcing the illusionists awake and then forcing them out. Akko, hidden, covered her ears while trying his best to hold still in the illusion.
But unfortunately, as the three exited out, the shark demons surrounded them with their guns drawn. The Big Man approached them and used his tendrils to take them. As they left, Akko saw that they were being taken somewhere. She remained hidden so that she could warn the others.
At a warehouse...
Crimson was seen at a warehouse in Pentagram City in Imp City that was being used as one of the base of operations, he then saw the Big Man along with zombie imps and his gang members. He saw that Calamity Coven was in the Big Man's tendrils. But then he counted three, "What's this? I only count three here. Where's the other one?" Crimson demanded.
"These three were the only ones there. My mechanical eyeball counted only them," The Big Man reported.
Crimson then sighed, "Alright...we can work this to our advantage. As bait," he decided, "Jeremiah Grimm, you're hired."
Then, Grimm put the three illusionists in a cage. Crimson ordered his men to watch them so that they couldn't plan any form of escape.
The next day...
Momo was training and meditating before his day at work. He had recently gotten a call from Verosika about the idea of the band Namehage Night. Unfortunately, from what she told him, the record company turned it down on the grounds others have done this sort of thing before. Though he was disappointed that it couldn't happen, Momo understood. As a wise man once said, there's always another way. Besides, Momo thought, there are probably hurdles that would need to be bypassed and one of them could end up being a roadblock.
So he decided to head to work.
On his way, Akko bumped into him.
"Akko? Do shita no?" Momo asked.
"What?" Akko asked confused.
"Oh sorry, I don't think you understand Japanese. That is if you watch anime dubbed," Momo began.
"No no, I understand," Akko assured the yakuza.
"Basically, I'm asking what happened?" Momo said.
"Shark demons and a really tall Sinner came and took my friends!" Akko panicked.
This made Momo gasp. There was only one guy he knew that had shark demons for henchmen. And that was Crimson. So, it seems Crimson was on a territorial takeover mission to claim the park as one his own after all. And that tall Sinner Akko mentioned must be a hired gun.
"Akko...I think I know who's behind this," the oni said.
"Who?" the potoo questioned.
Momo described the day he and his co-workers from I.M.P were called to the Greed Ring and had a run-in with the mob boss, Crimson Knolastname, who was Moxxie's father. And a terrible one at that. He told him of his plan to force the marriage between Moxxie and Chaz and how they foiled his plan, "And I get the feeling that Sinner you mentioned must be a hired gun to eliminate anyone he considers a threat. That means me," Momo concluded.
"Well, we gotta do something. And since I'm the only one who escaped, they might use them as bait," Akko lamented.
"Bait? That's just great...hang on, let me take you to I.M.P," the samurai comforted.
"BTW, what's I.M.P?" Akko asked.
Momo turned to her and smiled, "The Immediate Murder Professionals. In your language, we're assassins. You can't spell assassin without sin...and twice the ass."
They arrived at the office a few minutes later. Surprisingly, Blitzo and Loona were the only ones in the office at the moment, "Uh, Blitzo? Where are Moxxie and Millie?" Momo asked.
"Oh yeah, just got a text from them saying they're going to be late today. So, for the time being it's just me and Loonie," Blitzo explained, groaning. He then noticed Akko with him, "Ooh, a client!"
"Uh, not the time right now. We have a problem. It's Crimson!" Momo blurted.
Blitzo did a spit take with his coffee, "Oh for the love of, that fucking asshole going at Moxxie again?!"
"No, it's worst. Territory takeover. That gesu yaro is taking their performance spot just for territorial takeover," Momo explained.
"Performance spot? Then go find another, we don't do that kind of stuff in Hell anymore," Blitzo said.
"Wait! I'll pay you!" Akko pleaded.
Blitzo cringed at this. They could use the money anyway, "Fine! But that's coming out of your paycheck, Momo,"
Momo shrugged. Akko then paid Blitzo for the service. By this time, Moxxie and Millie had arrived, "Sir, what did I miss?" Moxxie questioned.
The yakuza samurai explained the situation. Moxxie's expression changed after hearing that Crimson was again behind it after having just escaped from his mansion and Millie preventing the forced marriage the mob boss nearly set on her husband and Chaz. Her blood boiled at the thought of this. She began muttering about wanting to gut Chaz and then make sushi out of him.
Akko was especially creeped out, "Okay she is creeping me out, I'm gonna go wait out in the hall," she said, heading out of the office.
Once Millie calmed down, she went to sharpen her weapons.
"I wonder where Crimson is now in Pride," Moxxie wondered.
"That can come later. All that matters is that Konga, Darcy, and Cassie need to be freed at once,' Momo responded.
For the next ten minutes, I.M.P, once Draiman and the cyberimps arrived, began formulating plans and strategies in order to free the remainder of Calamity Coven. He also warned them that Akko mentioned that Crimson had hired an assassin to take out anyone that gets in the way. Since they don't know who it was Crimson hired, they need to be extra careful. Akko also warned them that during her hiding in her illusion, that there was a mechanical eyeball that made a metallic screeching sound that disoriented them.
Once they had finished, they packed weapons and other items. They even made sure they had Dr. Thalass' phone number for medical assistance in case of injuries on the job.
With preparations done, they began to set out to find out where Crimson was hiding and rescue the remainder of Calamity Coven.
They arrived back at the park where the abduction happened and looked around for clues. While they were looking, the assassins were being followed by a zombie imp. It scurried back to it's master back to the warehouse where Crimson's posse and Jeremiah. At the warehouse, they were preparing a corpse to use as bait. The zombie imp arrived and made several chittering sounds. The Big Man listened and understood.
"Prepare the bait," he commanded.
The criminals began preparing the bait. Once done, the zombie imps began carrying the corpse.
Back at the park, Momo was still looking. He sees behind him a corpse that held an address. He picked up the paper and read it. The oni went back to his group. The zombie imps giggled silently, knowing that they took the bait.
"Guys! I found something!" the samurai shouted. Blitzo took the paper and looked at it.
"Where did you find this?" he asked.
"As I was looking, I came across a corpse. Not sure what happened but it held the paper that has the address," Momo answered.
"This is most definitely a trap. The corpse must've been put there as bait with the note," Moxxie noted.
"A trap that says, yes come to me, and now I get to kill their dicks!" Blitzo exclaimed excitedly.
"He seems to be taking it well," Draiman muttered.
"This can only end so well," Thom concurred.
"I don't give two shits! Time to pwn some noobs!" Mau5 urged.
I.M.P and Akko began to make their way to the warehouse.
Back at the warehouse, Jeremiah was speaking on the phone to Crimson, watching over the prisoners who were Calamity Coven in a cage, "They have taken the bait...and Akko is guaranteed to show up," he said.
"Excellent! Once the other one is captured, bring them to me so that I can make an example out of them and send their heads home in a box. As for I.M.P, kill them all but Mox. I'll deal with him myself," Crimson instructed.
"Understood," Jeremiah said, hanging up. He looked at the prisoners and then the goons watching them, "Watch them...I shall handle them myself,"
The Big Man then began walking out alongside his zombie imps.
At the entrance, the assassins snuck in through the office and looked around for any ambushes. Momo looked around. The group decided to split into teams while Blitzo went in solo. The oni decided to keep Akko safe with him.
"Do you know what the hired gun looks like by any chance?" Momo asked Akko. She shook her head. They then arrived at the first warehouse area. This felt like the perfect place for an ambush.
"Akko, your illusion powers. Use them to sneak past this area. Wait for either me or any of us at the second part of the warehouse," Momo whispered. Akko nodded and then used her illusion powers to hide as to not get caught.
Momo then unsheathed his scimitars. He remained on alert as he looked around. He then heard a metallic swooshing sound. Momo whipped around a threw a kunai at the mechanical eyeball, disabling it before it had a chance to disorient the ninja. It was then the oni heard the sounds of footsteps and found himself being face to face with the Big Man.
The yakuza eyed Jeremiah. The mortician-esque demon raised his eyebrow at Momo, "So you're the assassin Crimson hired? And I didn't think the hired guns could get any uglier," Momo snarked.
"Hold your tongue...booooy!" Jeremiah snarled, unleashing his tendrils from his back. Momo then went at the assassin on fours.
(Night Crawler - Judas Priest)
"Release the Calamity Coven now!" Momo snarled back.
"You're digging your own grave...cocky sir!" Jeremiah said.
The two stared each other down. Momo growled and clicked demonically and Jeremiah just stood there, raising his eyebrow again and tilted his head quizzically.
Momo screamed and stabbed Jeremiah in the chest. Though in pain, the Big Man then turned his fingers into tendrils, pierced Momo's chest, and then sent him into a table, which he tumbled off of it. He then got up and then throws a kunai, but Jeremiah used his tendrils to toss them aside. He then commands his zombie imps to leap at him. Momo moves out of the way and slices and dices them up.
"May I ask your name?" Momo asked.
"Jeremiah Grimm...the Big Man," the Big Man responded, "I'll tell you this. You think when you die you go to double Hell...no...you come to me,"
"I bet that explains the zombie imps. You must be a necromancer," the oni concluded. He then noticed his imp friends sneaking past in the far back. Moxxie and Millie must've ran into Blitzo after they split up to look for ambushes. He decided that he can use this as a distraction.
The oni samurai unsheathed his scimitars and took out his katana, "Hope you can take the heat, because I'm cooking tonight. Zombies and all! Now...hajimari!"
Back with the imps, they see Crimson's goons surrounding a cage that contained the remainder of Calamity Coven. Moxxie looked at the surroundings as they hid from view, "Fuck. This place is loaded with a couple of dickbags. Momo wasn't kidding," Blitzo whispered.
"So, how do ya reckon we get them out?" Millie asked.
Their boss began to formulate a plan. Blitzo would be the one to free the hostages while Moxxie and Millie create chaos as a distraction. The imp couple nodded, grinning. The thespian imp took out what looked like flashbang grenade.
"Flashbang grenades. Perfect. None of those asskissers for that mob shmuck will know what hit them," Blitzo chirped.
Moxxie then threw the grenade into the air and the imps took cover. One of the goons noticed the grenade and picked it up, stupidly. Right before the grenade went off, disorienting those caught in the blast. Moxxie and Millie then began slaughtering Crimson's goons. Millie had a spear with her and Moxxie was packing with twin pistols. They engaged in combat with the shark imp goons.
Blitzo took out a file and snuck around, before using a knife to kill the guards surrounding the cage. He then used the file to cut the bars up.
"Where's Akko? Is she with you?" Konga asked.
"I'm sure she's somewhere safe. Now let's get our asses out of here before more fuckstains show up," Blitzo ordered as soon as three of the bars were now loose.
Konga, Cassie, and Darcy got out. As soon as the goons were gored, Moxxie and Millie hugged each other and met back up with Blitzo.
"We got them!" Blitzo reported.
"We got to get out of here!" Darcy said.
They attempted to flee, but then more of Crimson's goons arrived, guns drawn. Alongside them were zombie imps, "Uh, sir? Since when did Crimson dealt in necromancy?" Moxxie asked, shuddering.
"He doesn't. Those belong to him," Cassie told Moxxie.
"Him?" Millie quizzed.
"The Big Man," Konga shuddered, "Crimson's hired gun,"
"Really? Big Man? What is he some sort of pimp?" Blitzo joked.
The three avian Sinners looked at Blitzo with a look that said are you for real right now.
Akko, from the back, saw that the imps and her friends were in trouble. She then decided to use her illusion powers to get them out of trouble. First, she created a mist to blind the criminals. It was then the other illusionists used their powers.
When the smoke cleared, they saw that in place of I.M.P and the other members of Calamity Coven were shark goons. One of them spoke up, "Those fools are getting away! Get them!"
The goons looked at each other and they and the zombies decided to go in the direction the goon spoke of. Akko nodded to them as they walked forward and then the illusionists undid the illusion.
"Well...that was something," Blitzo noted.
Back with Momo, both the samurai and the assassin were bleeding from the cuts and bruises they suffered. It was clear that both were at a stalemate. The oni breathed heavily, "You play a good game...but if you had a holy weapon or me, maybe we could've drawn this pointless quarrel to a close," Jeremiah pointed out.
"Yeah," Momo sighed. But then he sees the imps with the other members of Calamity Coven sneaking away. He then smirked, "But you're leaving something out," the samurai said.
"What?" Jeremiah said.
Momo then suddenly sprinted and sliced at the Big Man's legs, causing him to go to his knee. The yakuza caught up to his friends, "You're right. We're both Sinners. So I was just a distraction," he said.
Suddenly, a wall gave way and Draiman burst from it, a dead shark goon in his grasp before he crushed it's head like an egg. The two cyberimps were on his shoulders, carrying uzis. Jeremiah had a look of rage but chuckled, "Clever boy..."
Draiman then turned his sword into a minigun and gunned Jeremiah down. Momo knew that this would not kill the Big Man, but it would buy them some time. He decided to help out by taking out his tanegashima and then aimed it at a barrel, "Okasa reru," he said before firing the barrels, which exploded and collapsed as I.M.P and Calamity Coven made their escape, "ROFLMAO, eat my ass!" Mau5 cackled.
In the hours that followed, Calamity Coven had returned to their home. Following the events, as Blitzo said, it came out of Momo's paycheck. Not that the oni cared. Sure, he knew that this was Hell, but it didn't hurt to do good, even if he was trying to hold his rage back.
Momo then told Draiman and his cyberimp that unfortunately, the band won't happen as that would require many hurdles they would have to go through. Though disappointed, Draiman understood. It mean't that they would have to find another way somehow.
Meanwhile...
From the rubble of the warehouse, Jeremiah burst from the rubble and walked out of it. He then sees Crimson digging out any other survivors, "That's just great. My hostages get away, and worst of all, I.M.P did this! They'll pay for this, especially Moxxie," the don seethed.
"Indeed they will...they were clever in their rescue," Jeremiah said.
"Still, had it not been obvious that Momo was a Sinner, you'd have personally terminated the yakuza. I think I'll keep you around as at least you do your job and create me henchmen...even if they're undead," Crimson replied.
"Still...I reckon one more hired gun," The Big Man suggested.
Crimson begin to think. Perhaps surrounding himself with two hired guns won't be so bad. He turned to one of his goons, "You! Begin searching for others that might be bring something of value. Someone who is not afraid to go after the targets I put on the list," the mafia don ordered.
"Yes sir! Right away sir!" said the goon before scampering off back to Greed.
Crimson smirked. One way or another...I.M.P is going down...and soon, he'll have Moxxie brought to him, alive or dead.
And now...words uttered by Momo in Japanese...
Koshogatsu - first full moon of the new year
Koko ni warui ko wa imasu ka? - Any bad kids here?
Do ashita no? - What happened/What's wrong
Hajimari! - Start!
And now we've finally come to the end of the chapter. This always takes longer. But anyway, I'd like to introduce the headcanon voices for the characters recently introduced.
Akko - Sarah-Nicole Robles, known as the voice of Luz Noceda from The Owl House
Darcy - Brenda Song, known as the voice of Anne Boonchuy from Amphibia
Cassie - Ashley Bursch, known as the voice of Molly McGee from The Ghost and Molly McGee and other characters you may have known her for.
Konga - Jason Ritter known as the voice of Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls
Jeremiah Grimm the Big Man - Maurice LaMarche. Yeah can't exactly get Angus Scrimm on here since he's dead. Dammit...would've loved to see Vivienne get him on the show if he didn't pass in 2016 and the show started in 2020 for Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel starting next month in 2024, which I'm excited for.
And yes, if you saw what Jeremiah is based on, I based him off the Tall Man and Slenderman, which the Tall Man was the inspiration for the creepypasta.
Now I'd like to announce that next I'll be working on Western Energy, which had Striker return and nearly kill Stolas. And then, before Unhappy Campers, I will work on the lost episode that is no longer lost, Queen Bee. But there's a catch. That will be a one shot instead of a normal chapter. So consider it a bonus chapter for the last Helluva Boss fanfic.
Also, one last thing, with Hazbin Hotel next month, expect a fanfic based on it was well that also follows the story but being in the footsteps of a character as he is on the misadventures of the hotel staff.
So with that said...I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Keep on rocking!
