CHAPTER 5: RISING EMBERS

THIRD POV
WHEN WORD OF All Might teaching at UA got out, the press has been swarming the gates of the said school. So, when Kasai Todoroki made her way to the said entrance, she clenched her jaw in distaste. She spots different reporters sticking their microphones in student's faces, urging them to spill details about the number one hero.

Unfortunately, even thinking about the press brings attentions to oneself. One second she's clear of anything press related, and the next, she has a persistant lady in front of her. She glowers at the older woman who urges the microphone into her face.

"You, young lady, you look awfully familiar," the woman tells her, inching closer as if she just hit the goldmine.

Her turquoise eyes, the ones she shares with her father, they turn cold. "Maybe-

"It's your eyes! They're exactly like the number two hero's, Endeavor! Any relation," the woman exclaims with recognition.

Kasai glares for being cut off and getting exposed. "It's clearly obvious seeing as you just answered your own question," she sharply quips.

"This is great! Given your age I can tell that you're his daughter! This is what we needed. I'm sure you've noticed the rivalry between your father and All Might, can you tell us your opinion about the Number One Hero being a teacher here? What do you think," the lady asks very quickly, pushing the microphone towards the girl.

"What do I think," Kasai calmly asks. However, her emotions are quick to take a one-eighty, turning furious. Her hair ignites into white flames. "I think nothing of it because it's nothing special or important! You want to waste my time on silly gossip, then go to the man himself! Ask me one more stupid question, and I'll burn all your equipment," she seethes, making the lady and her crew flinch with her icy glare.

Turning on her heel, she huffs and stomps towards the school building. Well, that's before a flash of ash blond catches her peripheral vision. Stopping in her tracks, she glances to the side and watches as they try to question her fellow hot-head. Though, he quickly shuts them up, glaring at them. However, when Katsuki turns towards the school, the two of them connect eyes. It's a mere second before Kasai turns away with a burning face.

Ducking away, she hurries into a quick pace and scurries into the school building, her face burning in a crimson shade. She doesn't understand why she's feeling like this, and it can't just be because theit eyes met. She glares into his eyes all the time when they argue. Is it because she's wearing her hair down today? Was it because she wasn't glaring? What was it?

Bakugou stares in confusion as he watches the girl he usually fights with, rush away as if there's a fire nearby. Actually, now that he thinks about it, that girl is one his rivals. They had competitions back in middle school, but it only got serious when they tied in the entrance exam. The reason only he got first was because of their names, Bakugou comes first to Todoroki. Then, for the apprehension test on the first day, she managed to beat him by coming in third place as opposed to his fourth place. However, instead of rubbing it in his face like she usually does when she wins, she ignored him while throwing a cold glare at her brother.

That's another thing that confuses him. That shitty white-out had a brother, a twin to be specific, but they treat each other like complete strangers. They don't converse with one another, if he didn't know better he would think that they weren't related at all, judging by all the animosity. Also, if they were siblings, why did she take the entrance exam while the other got in through recommendations? Katsuki had all these questions, but no answers to the mystery called Kasai Todoroki.

Then, yesterday when she obliterated the competition like it was nothing, he realized just how strong she really was. A year ago with the sludge monster incident, she seemed so frozen, how can she get from that to this? Was she messing with him like that quirkless guppy Deku? No, she wasn't, he remembered in the duration of the year, she usually came to class exhausted and sometimes brandishing some minor burns on her hands. She trained to become like this, she pushed herself.

Despite being very different, he realized that they were also the same.

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

ONCE SETTLED IN class, Kasai kept her head down like usual. Though, when Bakugou came walking in a few minutes after her, her turquoise eyes widened. The note, she mentally exclaimed, her face flushing again. Mentally groaning, she repeats to herself to not react, to show no emotion, and to keep her head down.

Pulling out her Campos notebook, she takes a page from Midoriya's book, and starts to write profiles about her classmates and their quirks. When writing, she blatantly ignores the burning stare directed at the side of her face. She knows it's Bakugou, assuming he read the note she left him, but that doesn't stop her face from flushing. The Todoroki forces herself not to give a smile of reaction, but it's useless seeing as the corner of her lips lift themselves into a small smile. Though, internally, she's screaming at herself to stop feeling this way. She's trying to force the fluttering feeling in her stomach away. The racing heart, the involuntary heat rushing to her cheeks, the several flips in her stomach, it's all confusing her.

She's never felt this. It's alarming. It's new. She knows she's not sick because she hasn't done anything to get ill. She's not in her days, that's only at the beginning of the month, and it's the middle of April. So she's asking herself, what is it? She knows the reason for these feelings are because of that shitty sparkler, but she's logical. How can a person make her feel like this? They're not in physical contact. He doesn't have a quirk that can affect her like this. And they basically hate each other's guts...well, hate is a strong word, it's more like a strong dislike. However, she also admires him.

So, what is it?

Before she can go in circles and question herself repeatedly, Aizawa walks in just after the bell rings. Closing the notebook, Kasai somewhat straightens her posture and looks towards her teacher. She watches as the man sighs before placing a pile of papers on his desk.

"Hope you're rested from yesterday's battle trial. I took the liberty of looking at your marks and evaluation," he informs the class with his usual bored tone. "Bakugou. Stop acting like a seven year old. You're wasting your own talent."

"I know," the blond grumbles before clenching his jaw.

Kasai glances at him and just does that before looking away. Because, despite what he makes her feel, he's still her rival. She can't let her feelings get in the way. She needs to focus on beating her brother and becoming number one. That's her priority, not some measly feelings.

"And you," Aizawa directs towards Midoriya. "Are you always planning on destroying your arm, Midoriya? If you keep going 'I can't adjust my quirk so I have no choice' you'll never get terribly far. I've said it before. Don't make me say it a third time. Once you've cleared that hurdle, you'll be so much more flexible, so I need to see some sweat out of you, Midoriya."

"Got it," the green haired boy pledges.

"Now, let's get on with the homeroom notices. I'm sorry to spring this on you, but - we need to pick a class president," he tells them.

The class sighs in relief, finally something normal. Kasai doesn't really see class president appealing, especially since she was a former rule breaker. The task goes against every bone in her body, too uptight for her rebellious lifestyle. Sitting back, the white haired girl relaxes into her seat, not really paying attention to what's happening.

Though, with hair hearted glances, she watches as the majority of the class all raise from their seats, waving about. They state their reasoning for wanting the position. When her turquoise eyes find Bakugou, Kasai stifles a laugh. He's in his seat, waving his raised hand like a madman, all while huffing angrily.

Can she have both? Acknowledging her feelings and focusing on becoming number one? Who knows.

However, their actions come to a stop when Iida raises his voice, telling them to be quiet. She tries to listen, but she really doesn't care. Instead of staring at the walls, or counting the tiles on the ceiling, she takes out her notebook and resumes the profiles on her classmates.

Eventually, they had to vote, and like the majority of the class, Kasai just wrote her name before putting it into the slot. She asumes that everyone's going to vote for themselves, but maybe there'll be a few exceptions. And she was right, two other people voted for Midoriya while another voted for Yaoyorozu.

Then, the bell rang, signifying the time for lunch.

Gracefully getting out of her seat, Kasai strides out of the classroom. The one thing she doesn't like about her quirk is that she always gets hungry. With the fire, her metabolism burns a lot faster than any other people's. Which means that she needs to eat a lot, or more frequently at least.

Though, just as she's about to enter the main corridor, a voice yells after her.

"Hey, you shitty extra," Bakugou shouts.

Kasai's pace falters, but she continues, thinking that he's yelling at someone else.

"Oi, you, White Out, I'm talking to you," Bakugou specifies with a yell.

That's what makes her stop. The use of her given nickname makes her freeze, pause in mid-step. Turquoise eyes widening, she stays still and silently panics. Oh god, what does he want? No, stay calm, don't allow him to control your emotions. Stay cool.

"Did you mean it," Bakugou tells her once he's standing in front of her. His crimson eyes look down at her, he notices that she's wearing her usual blank expression, but also noticed her hair. The ash blond boy has never seen her with her hair down, noting how the white locks reach her middle back. If he actually takes the time to think about it, he finds that Kasai is one of the most attractive girls in class. He also finds her temper appealing.

"Mean what," Kasai questions, stifling any unwanted emotions. She's never been this close to him, at least when they're not arguing. From this distance, she can see how perfect his skin is, no blemish whatsoever. His hair is a nice shade of blond, but the shape of it, it's basically compelling her to touch it and run her fingers through it. Her body gives a small tremble whilst her emotions are bursting at the seams, but she does everything to force the rising heat away from her face.

"Tch, you know what I mean," he says, narrowing his eyes. "Don't pretend to be a shithead."

"Fine, but just so you know, I mean a lot of things so you need to be specific," she answers coolly, not wanting to admit to what he's saying.

"The note," he tells her, and almost immediately, but involuntarily, her face flushes red.

"Shit," she curses under her breath, turning away to hide behind her hair. "They're words, whatever, get over it."

"So, it was you," he questions through gritted teeth.

"Of course it was me," she turns, her face still red, as she admits it. "It was my writing! It was my note! And who else do you call White Out besides me?"

"Tch, whatever," Katsuki mutters, this time being the one who flushed. He turned his head to hide his rosen cheeks.

"Yeah, whatever," Kasai mutters, still a bit embarrassed.

A silence lingers over them. Seconds turning to a minute. Biting her lip, she releases a sigh.

"Come on, I'm starving," she ushers, walking towards the cafeteria. "Besides it's nothing new. You've always dominated in the fights against Midoriya, his sudden quirk won't change that. Especially, when can create those large explosions with your gauntlets -"

With that, they talked for the first time without arguing. They compared the capabilities of their quirks. Of course, they naturally butted heads when it came to who was the best, but they actually conversed with one another. Kasai complimented his control on his explosives, and he somewhat stated that she was okay with her flames. He tried, which made her laugh in amusement.

From across the cafeteria, Izuku looked at the two hotheads with apprehension. He witnessed first hand how they always argued in middle school, literally butting heads. He knew them as rivals, always fighting and spouting snarky remarks at each other. Though, to see them actually talking a normal converstation and laughing, that sight alone makes him nervous. Are they plotting against him? Especially now since he's class president?

Them together can't be good, right?

Shoto, he also witnessed how his sister and Bakugou talked from his seat. Should he feel jealous that someone else is getting to know his sister besides him? After all, they're like strangers. Once, a long time ago, they used to be close, but now they're standing on different sides of a line. He can't remember the last time they had a conversation. Is her favorite color still red? They used to be close, but now she looks at him with the same eyes of their father, cold and narrowed.

Since when did they start treating each other like strangers?

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

KASAI'S AND BAKUGOU'S conversation about beating their other rivals - Deku and Shoto, came to an end when an alarm suddenly sounded. It stated that there was a level three breach and they had to evacuate. The Todoroki groaned, not even being halfway done with her lunch, she was starving. So, when Bakugou took a hold of her wrist and pulled her towards the exit, she quickly grabbed the package of strawberry pocky from her tray.

"What do you think the breach is about," she asks Bakugou, who's still pulling her by the wrist.

"How the fuck would I know," he questions, yelling like usual.

"Of course, you wouldn't know. I'm just saying t-" she was shoved forward by the panicking students. Her body crashed agaisnt Bakugou's taller frame. She blushed at the contact, glad that she can hide from his eyes at the moment. "Ow. Just take a guess, that's what I'm saying."

"Maybe one of those shitty reporters got smacked with one of the security gates," he growled, shoving people away from him.

The Todoroki girl scoffed. "You have a morbid sense of humor," she laughs, both sardonically and amused.

I like it, she thought to herself, giving a small smile.

Being pushed by other students, Kasai growled beneath her breath, shoving them back with her free hand. Once the students saw that was glaring at them, they cowered, not wanting to be on the receiving end of her ice cold glare. Kasai knew that she looked almost exactly like her mother if it weren't cor the brilliant turqiose eyes she got from her father. Also, her mother was soft and caring, Kasai was anything but, she's sharp edges and hostile glares. She may look like her mother, but she shares most of her personality with her father.

But somehow, Bakugou could make her sharp edges turn soft. She likes it, however, at the same time, she hates it.

Well, that was before she was shoved into his chest. Her face flushed and embarrassed, she growls at the person who pushed her. She wants to move to seperate from the contact, but everyone's all tightly squeezed together.

"Couldn't we just wait by a wall," Kasai grumbles.

She wants to move, but she also doesn't because once separated, her flustered face will be exposed to everyone. The Todoroki girl can feel her emotions going haywire, especially when she can only smell Bakugou's natural scent. It's like a combination of sweat and cinnamon, though there's this distinct sweetness that she can't pinpoint. Not only that, but the pale haired girl can feel the toned chest beneath his shirt and it's making her flush even more.

Oh, how she craves to set herself free right now and just set herself on fire. She wants it to be over and wish to never speak of it again.

Bakugou stands tense with the fact that the slightly shorter girl is pressed against him. He can feel her fidgeting, almost as if she wants to move, but he knows that she can't due the shitty extras around them. He can smell the amber and vanilla scent of her shampoo, it's soft and alluring at the same time. He doesn't want to admit that having the tempermental and attractive girl in his arms is a win, because she's still his rival - and also because he's not soft and doesn't admit to his feelings.

Fortunately, their internal stuggles come to an end when Iida stops the panic by informing everyone that the breach was caused by the press. Of course that was after he floated and crashed above the doors of the exit. Once calm, everyone stopped pushing against one another, and that left to the two - Bakugou and Todoroki, to seperate themselves from one another.

"So, it was the press after all," Kasai stated, looking away to hide her flushed face whilst rubbing the back of her neck with a hand.

"Tch, who else would be stupid enough to breach the school," Bakugou huffed, also looking away to hide his tinted cheeks.

"Yeah. Though, I can name a few-"

And like that, they continue like nothing happened. They push all awkwardness away and delve back into their conversations. Despite the rivarly, and the arising emotions, she still sees Bakugou as her only friend. She doesn't want that to stop, any of it, all because of the awkwardness. It's complicated, but she enjoys his company.

And unbeknownst to Kasai, Bakugou feels the same.

_

Well, that's Chapter Five! And look, Kasai is feeling things! Whoop!

She's actually interacting with him without the whole heated arguements(well, those will still happen, I like their tension). But she's letting him in.

And oof, they're confiding in each other's seperate rivals (Bakugou with Izuku, and Kasai with Shoto).

What about Izuku's and Shoto's reactions to seeing them together? Hmm?

And extra oof, they have secret feelings for each other that they don't want to admit. How about that? *smiles maniacally because I have no life*

CHAPTER 6: BOILING POINT

THIRD POV
IT WAS THAT same day, right after lunch, when Mr. Aizawa announced that they had another hero course lesson. Kasai was silent throughout the explanation, her thoughts lingering on a certain useless sparkler. For the first time, in their rivaled existence, they managed several minutes to talk and chat. She shared her thoughts about becoming the best, or in specific terms, beating her brother in her one sided rivarly. The girl told Bakugou that with Shoto, she always felt stuck inside his shadow seeing how their father only paid attention to him.

That's why she always broke rules, a way to try and get her father's attention. No matter what trouble she caused, he still thought the same - that she was mediocre. She hated that her brother got the praise and devotion from their father just because he has two quirks.

Kasai tried. She always tries to catch up. She tries to burn bright and become an illuminating flare of light in her brother's dark and insanely long shadow. The girl worked herself to the bone, pushing herself to become better. She muttered a string of curses whenever she grew angry and failed any technique, crying in frustration that her father's words rang in her ears.

She hated it.

However, confiding with Bakugou, it seemed that the anger coursing through her body lightened just a bit. An inch of ease. Very little, but still so much in her favor.

Anyways, as she sits in her seat - next to her brother, Kasai focuses her turquoise gaze upon her teacher. Even when looking to the front, she could still feel the glancing looks that her brother is giving her. She's confused as to why he's paying her any mind, he usually tends to ignore her. What changed, she ponders.

"It was decided you'll be supervised by a three-man team comprising of me, All Might, and somebody else," Aizawa explains.

The white haired Todoroki narrows her eyes. She's aware that they'll be doing another hero based lesson, but what exactly? And why the extra person? Does the person specialize in the area that is their lesson? Where will the lesson take place? In the on-city site like their previous lesson?

Fortunately, for her restless mind, Sero asks almost as if reading her mind. "Sensei, what'll we be doing?!" The student exclaims.

"Be the hero that everyone needs. Whether it's a flood, or any other disaster. It's the trial of rescue," Aizawa informs by showing the lesson card.

Kasai tightens her lips, not frowning nor smiling. Thinking about it, the girl knows that her quirk is more adept to combat rather than rescueing. However, if she really thinks about it, she's sure she could come up with some ideas on how to incorporate her quirk into rescueing.

Depends on the area of rescue. If they were in a frozen tundra, she could use her fire to melt away at the ice, or use her heat to warm the survivors so they don't freeze to death. If they were buried under collapsed buildings, she could use the fire to burn new exits like she did in the combat lesson - the windows, or to make a source of light - a flare, so other heroes can find them. She can make fires. She can burn things. She can maintain warmth.

The more Kasai thinks about using her quirk in different ways, the more she's getting excited. Though, she's not the only one buzzing with excitement, her classmates are eagerly conversing with each other as well.

But of course, their teacher is quick to shut them up.

"Don't get ahead of yourselves. As I was saying, it's entirely up to each of you if you wear your costume. Some of your costumes probably aren't adapted to the task at hand, after all. The training area is fairly far away, so we'll get there by bus. That's all, go get prepared," he explains whilst pressing a button on the remote to present their costumes.

Kasai wastes no time darting out of her seat and rushing to get her costume. By the time she reaches the area, she bumps into her fellow hothead.

"Move it, sparkler," the Todoroki smirks, gently elbowing him in the side.

"Tch, make me, white-out," he smirks, shoving her back gently.

The said girl smirks, "Alright." Placing her right hand on his left bicep.

At first, Bakugou looks down at her hand in confusion - slightly flustered and alarmed - but that soon vanishes when he's harshly shoved to the side. He curses profanities under his breath when he hears her laugh.

"You did say to make you move," she muses, her smirk widening.

"Fuck you, White-Out," Katsuki curses, throwing her a side glare before pushing himself off the floor.

His only response is a peal of laughter. Turning his head to find the source, he spots the Todoroki leaving the classroom with her head thrown back. Even if she's laughing at him, he finds the action appealing. He's never heard her laugh - not once in the years of knowing her.

He likes it.

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

KASAI SMILES AS she puts on her costume, the white fabric hugging her body so perfectly. She feels so powerful in her costume, like nothing can stop her. She feels worthy.

Buckling the belt around her waist, she then grabs the two sword hilts and places them on the belt. So far she hasn't used her dual swords, maybe this lesson will give her a reason to use them. Taking the now empty case, she places it into her locker.

Now, with a certain pep in her step, she walks out of the locker room with a confident smirk on her face. The Todoroki is feeling excited for the hero lesson, and despite the earlier security breach, her day is going great. However, with the sudden peak of emotion, she's still determined to give her best. She'll show everyone that she's not one to be messed with. No fluttering emotion or any certain action is going to get in the way of her being a hero today.

Kasai knows how to seperate her emotions from her actions, it's one of her natural skills. Heck, she's been doing that since a young age - separating her feelings from her actions. Her real feelings at least.

But as soon as she goes outside and sees Bakugou in his costume, all reason goes out the window. Her cheeks flare, but instead of letting the butterflies swallow her insides, she holds her head up and struts with confidence.

If he looks hot, then I'll look and be hotter, Kasai smirks.

Though, as soon as she feels eyes leering at her, she stops and looks for the source. Turning her head, she finds both Kaminari and Mineta looking at her. She immediately gives them her signature icy glare.

"What are you two looking at," she seethes, her glare deepening.

The two boys blanch in fear. Sure, they may find her attractive like the other girls in the class, but her temper is even more terrifying. She might be a good sight to look at - especially her long and toned legs, but they're too scared to even get near her.

Kasai sneers at them, she's noticed their looks. Even felt them. She knows that they're the classic perverts who leer on girls, and knowing that in itself, she's repulsed. Sure, Kaminari has a great quirk and most of the time he's a bubbly idiot, but being stared at draws a line. Then, there's Mineta, sure he has a certain intelligence that he's discreet about, she can respect that, but he's the ultimate pervert. That alone, is a big NO. She would literally kick them in the face if they ever got in her personal space.

Reaching into the pouch of her belt, she takes out her uPod and places her earphones in her ears before pressing play on her music. Crossing her arms, she smirks as her favorite girl-group plays in her ears. With the lowered volume, Kasai could hear as Iida ushers them to line up, making an arrangement for the seating.

However, her smirk immediately fell off her lips as she's moved to stand next to her brother.

Though, it turns out that the bus wasn't one of the two column seats, but instead a regular bus. Whilst the layout was different, she still had to sit next to her twin. Shoto took the window seat while she took the aisle seat. Between the two of them, their postures were stiff and the animosity was tense - even if it was one sided. Rather than focusing on her brother, she directed her icy gaze to Bakugou, who was seated diagonally in front of her. She focused on his spiky and striking blond hair.

After a few minutes, she decided to turn off her music before shoving the uPod back in her utility belt. Closing her eyes, Kasai leaned back into her seat trying to get comfortable. After all, the ride will take a while to reach their destination. Shoto discreetly glanced to his sister, making quiet movements - not wanting to startle her. He knows that their relationship is similar to a stranger approaching a guard dog, any wrong move and she'll snap at him - or in her case, give an icy, knife wrenching, glare.

He remembers back to their childhood and while he was off training, he remembered seeing her laughing with their older brother Touya. Shoto remembered them being close. She would always go to him for advice for controlling her fire quirk since their father was busy with him. However, after the incident of their brother's disappearance, Kasai got colder and closed herself off. She didn't smile anymore, not a geniune one at least.

But today at lunch, before the security breach, he saw her actually smiling. A real, geniune, smile and it was all because of Bakugou. Shoto saw a friendship blossoming there, and maybe that detered him a bit, because he wanted to be the one to initate a friendship with his sister.

But at this rate, they'll grow up to be complete strangers.

" - If we're talking about the double whammy of flashy and strong, you can't not mention Todoroki, Bakugou, and Kasai," Kirishima stated, throwing a quick glance at the trio.

This perked up Kasai's attention, along with Shoto's and Bakugou's.

"Bakugou's always fuming so he won't be popular, along with Kasai. She shares his temper," Tsuyu informed.

Kasai's eye twitched, she's not wrong. I do seem to share my quirk's temperature every now and then.

"You bitch! I'll be popular, too," Bakugou yells, standing to glare at Asui.

Kasai shakes her head at his temper. Like she stated before, his anger always gets the best of him. Sure, she has a similar anger, but she knows how to keep it in check - as long as no one pushes her buttons. Overall, she can keep a leveled head and remain calm if no one triggers her.

"It's only been a brief while since our socialization has commenced and yet already we have been made apoditically cognizant of your personality, redolent as it is of a turd getting steamed in a sewer," Kaminari informs, smirking at Bakugou.

And speaking of triggers.

"Huh?! What the hell kinda vocabulary is that?! I'll fucking kill you," Bakugou shouted towards Kaminari.

The sight alone made the pale haired girl smirk in amusement.

"You shitty sparkler, you're only proving them right with your foul language," Kasai speaks from behind the ash blond, pulling him back into his seat.

Aizawa sighed from his seat. "We're almost there. Settle down already," he tells his students.

Without further hesitation, the Todoroki sits back and crosses her arms. When seated, Bakugou turns over his right shoulder, and gives the girl his signature and determined smirk.

Kasai narrows her icy eyes at him, also smirking, bring it!

¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤

KASAI STARED UPON the large building with an impassive face, she wasn't impressed or awed. After all, it's just a building. Around her, her classmates were a different thing, they wondered with awestruck and flabbergasted faces.

"Amazing," her classmates marveled making the white clad girl roll her eyes.

She'll admit that the fire zone was calling to her, almost like a moth to a light. Kasai being the moth. Ever since she gained her quirk, she was always fascinated by fire. The warm colored embers hypnotizing her, even her older brother's blue flames lured her in. Heck, she remembers Touya telling her that fire didn't have to be painful as he let her touch the warm kindling of flame that he mustered on his open palm. It's one of her most cherished memories because it was after she accidently burned herself with her white flames.

She was trying to show their father a new trick, wanting to prove that she can handle his training. However, the older man didn't spare her a glance. He didn't care for her, he never did. Though, her older brother did. Touya cared enough to show her control, to tame her wild flames.

But their time together ended too soon when he suddenly disappeared.

Scoffing, Kasai buries her unwanted memories and focuses on the white clad hero - Thirteen. The Todoroki listens as the hero informs them about the Unforseen Simulation Joint. It being a practical training area that was created for the mere fact of training in different disaster zones.

Glancing around, she spots her fellow hothead to the far left. Discreetly stepping behind other students, Kasai reaches Bakugou's side. She nudges his side, gaining his attention. When he directs his narrowed gaze at her, she smirks whilst raising her pale eyebrows.

"Are you impressed with this," Kasai mutters lowly, gesturing towards their surroundings.

Katsuki scoffs, crossing his arms. "Whatever we're supposed to do, I'm going to ace it. That's all I care about! Not this shitty hellhole," he states with a smirk.

She mocks his smirk, patting his muscled bicep. "I'm sure you are," Kasai says with a sweet smile.

"Tch, are you saying you're going to do better than me, you shitty extra? Impossible," he huffs, almost amused.

"I'm not saying anything," the girl crosses her arms. "But, I'm willing to bet that I will. Against me, you'll come in second place - again."

He glares, his heated carmine gaze clashing against her icy turquoise stare.

"You're on," he growls.

"I'm looking forward to it," she muses with her signature smirk.

Their conversation is cut short when Thirteen starts to talk again. Moving to stand closer, Kasai finds herself standing behind the petite brunette who she recalls as Uraraka. Bakugou stands to her left, standing behind Midoriya.

"Before we begin, just one thing, or two. Or three. Or four," Kasai deadpans as the number keeps growing. "I'm certain you're already quite aware, but my quirk is called 'Black Hole'. No matter what material gets sucked into its vortex, I'm afraid it will turn into dust."

Kasai ignores when the two in front of her exclaim in awe.

"It is however, a power that could also easily be used to kill people. And in that way, it's no different from the quirks of everyone here," the space hero explains.

Kasai looks down at her hands, secretly knowing that her flames could hurt others. By means, she's burned herself several times in the past, but the thought of using them to purposefully hurt others - that alone sickens her. Sure, she'll maybe grow angry enough to hurt someone, at most maim them with burns, but she'll never reach the point of potentially killing someone.

"-your quirks empathically do not exist to hurt others! Please leave this exercise having fully understood that your quirks exist to help people! That is all! You have my gratitude for listening so intently and patiently," Thirteen finishes with his speech, making some of the students clap.

"That was awesome," Uraraka exclaims, making the Todoroki girl quietly scoff.

"Bravo! Bravo," Iida claps loudly, making her roll her eyes.

She just wants to get to the lesson already, call her restless.

"Alright, first things first," Aizawa speaks up, gaining their attention. Kasai minutely smiles, ready for their task.

However, before he can continue, something else catches their attention. At the bottom of the stairs, in front of the fountain, a dark swirling portal appears from thin air. Kasai narrows her turquoise eyes as a pit forms in her stomach - a bad feeling. She feels chills on the back of neck, skin rising with goosebumps as her gaze notices the hand coming within the portal.

Gritting her teeth, and clenching her hands into fists, Kasai fights the feeling of fear before pushing it deep in the depths of her being. She's not going to freeze like last year with the sludge villain. No, she trained her body to react, to fight, to protect herself. She's not a damsel, she's a hero in training dammit!

Besides, she still has that bet to win against Bakugou. She's not losing that. Kasai won't let him best her, not again.

"Huddle together and don't move," Aizawa yells, snapping the girl back to reality. "Thirteen! Protect the students!"

Darting her eyes, Kasai counts the number of the newcomers. Her mind whirls, trying to figure out who they are. What they want. Though, judging by the looks of them, and their sinister expressions, she now realizes that these people are obviously not allies. They're villains.

"Shit," she mutters at the realization.

"What is that? Is this like that training pattern at the entrance exam," Kirishima asks, stepping forward.

"Don't move," Aizawa warns as he places his yellow goggles over his eyes. "Those are villains!"

"Fuck," Kasai curses, her assumption being right.

By now, the pale haired girl sees that there as several villains, enough to outnumber them several times over. She also notices that the portal thinned out to form a person, making her realize that the portals were just a quirk. Despite the dark swirls of black and violet, and the fear creeping into her veins like ice, Kasai keeps her expression black as she continues to clench her hands.

No matter the number of villains, she's not backing down. Her name's Kasai Todoroki and to be a badass, she can't afford to lose her composure.

"Villains?! Get out of here," Kirishima breathes in disbelief.

"What kind of numb-skull could think honest to god villains would be able to just waltz into the hero home base," Kaminari questions.

The Todoroki girl throws him a blank stare. "With the right quirks they could do anything. The villains probably have an electrowave type on their side to mess with the sensors. I mean, they do have a guy who makes portals, that shows that we shouldn't underestimate them," she scoffs, gesturing to the villains below them.

They nod, processing her words.

Yaoyorozu steps in, taking Kasai's words into consideration. "Sensei, what about the intruder alarm sensors, surely there's a backup, right," she questions.

Aizawa shakes his head. "Of course we have some set up. However, as Todoroki said, they may have tempered with it, but -"

Shoto walks forward, interrupting. "Is this the only campus they've infiltrated, or are they attacking all the others, too," he asks, saying what everyone's thinking. Though, that's before he continues explaining.

"Thirteen, do the evacuation procedure," their homeroom teacher announces after Shoto's explanation. "These villains know how to get around the sensors just as Todoroki theorized which means they're interfering the signal. Kaminari, you too! Try contacting UA with your quirk!"

His orders make Kasai become more composed as her face falls blank. She dislikes when she's right about her bad feelings. However, her attention goes to Midoriya as he questions their teacher's skills against a large crowd of villains.

Still straight face, Kasai watches as her teacher jumps down, barreling towards the group of villains. Her stomach flutters in worry, but that goes out the window when Aizawa easily knocks out two of his opponents with his scarf.

Scoffing, she follows his directions and joins the rest of the class as they evacuate.

Unfortunately, their plan was soiled when the portal villain appeared in front of them, interfering their escape. The Todoroki's face changed from blank to a seething glare. She clenched her hands into fists, already feeling her veins start to boil as her palms flared in temperature. The wisps of her white hair ached to be set aflame, but she kept herself in check. One wrong move and everything goes haywire.

She can't allow that.

"I'm afraid, I can't allow that," he speaks up, his monotone voice making the hair on her skin rise with a chill. "Greetings. We are the villain alliance. I apologize for the presumption, but we took it upon ourselves to enter UA academy, the base of heroes in order to engage with Mr. All Might - The Symbol of Peace. We were wondering if we might be allowed the opportunity to extinguish him, you see."

Kasai scoffs at his words. 'Allowed the opportunity' it's like he's asking permission to kill All Might, and he sounds so proper that it's pathetic. No hero would willingly allow a villain to kill the number one hero, it's asinine. It's outlandish. It's laughable.

"Was Mr. All Might not meant to be in attendance at this juncture? Perchance has something been altered? Ah well, setting that aside, this is my roll," he continues, questioning us.

Kasai frowns, narrowing her icy gaze. Not her nor anyone here would answer his questions. Sure, All Might isn't her most favored hero, but she would never sell him out.

However, she's broken out of her directed glare when someone passes, accidently bumping her shoulder. Going to glare them off, her eyes suddenly widen when she sees Bakugou charging towards the villain. To make it worse, Kirishima is by his side. Kasai holds her breath, watching as the duo attack the villain with a combo of force and explosions.

"Bet you didn't think we'd be able to do you in before you got the chance," Kirishima boasts and she shakes her head.

She steps forward as the villain speaks up, unaffected. "That was quite perilous. To be expected. Though you may be mere students, you are also the hero world's future," he comments as his darker wisps of mist start to spread.

"You idiots, get away from him," Kasai yells as she notices Thirteen's outstretched hand.

"It's no use, just run! Run, you two," Thirteen warns the duo.

Seeing that they're too dumbfounded, Kasai steps forward to pull them back. However, just as she reaches them, the villain speaks up, interrupting what she was about to say.

"You will be scattered," he voices as his mist spreads.

"And tortured." It encases and surrounds everyone.

"And slain." Her vision is filled with black and violet.

"Everyone!"

The last thing she knew is that the floor disappeared from underneath her feet, and she was falling.

Falling to an abyss.

Well, that was Chapter Six! Also, I am very and deeply, deeply, sorry that I prolonged this update. Honestly it sucks for me when I can't write an update due to writer's block and my uncontrollable procrastination because I really do love writing these stories, and I just can't. So, I apologize for not being here, but I'll try my best not to leave you guys for very long periods.

Moving on, what did you enjoy? What did you like? Hate?

I know nothing exciting really happened, but that'll happen in the next chapter!

Did you like her interactions with Bakugou? I sure did, I love writing them together. The fangirl in me wants to rush their relationship, but I really love the high tensions in the slow burn!

Oof, Kasai and Shoto are still in the rocks! A very strained relationship. What will happen there? Any ideas?

Also oof, she still remembers Touya! I'm excited for the Touya/Dabi meeting, but that's a long ways away.

Also, where will she end up, what disaster zone?

Anyways, don't forget to COMMENT! VOTE! And FAN!
