CHAPTER 11: SCORCHING BLAZE
_
THIRD POV
THE SOUNDS OF cheering filled Kasai's ears as she stood in the arena once again, out of breath. But the exhaustion was with an overwhelming sense of victory. She crossed that finish line and despite her placing, she felt proud of herself. Huffing to regain her breath, she steps forward and follows the green haired boy who managed to steal her win at the last second. Of course, she's still angry that she didn't win the first event, but he did manage to outsmart her and she'll give him that.
"Midoriya Izuku! His will be a name to know," Present Mic yells, announcing the winner of the race which makes the crowd in the stands roar with enthusiasm.
Glancing over her shoulder, the pale haired Todoroki gives a smirk towards the two other boys who were just as determined.
"And now, they're steadily crossing the finish line. One after the other! We'll compile their results later. So for the time being, enjoy your breather," the blond pro hero announces.
Taking her turquoise eyes off her rivals, she closes her eyes and breathes in, inhaling what her lungs are desperately yearning for. With every breath, the girl can feel her muscles relax, her heated body cooling off. Slouching to rest her hands on her knees, Kasai ignores the congratulatory comments given to Midoriya from his friends, and instead focuses on calming her body. To say, that race was the fastest she ever ran, pushing way past her limits.
Opening her eyes, she glances at the tunnel and watches as Yaoyorozu stumbles in with Mineta latching on to her lower back. The Todoroki sympathizes with the ravenette, to have such a vile person like him clutching on to you, well she would have burned him the moment he laid a finger on her. No one touches her without her permission!
"And so it's over! Now everyone, here are the results!" Midnight yells, gaining their attention.
1st - MIDORIYA IZUKU
2nd - TODOROKI KASAI
3rd - TODOROKI SHOTO
4th - BAKUGOU KATSUKI ...
The girl didn't care for the rest of the results because she was too busy grinning in victory. The sense of accomplishment made her heart swell at the little win. She beat him, she actually did it! Oh, she was over the moon right now. Years of trying to outshine him and she finally did it with an obstacle race, even better that their father was there to witness the whole thing! Oh, she's happy, so much that she laughs in content, giving a small whoo!
Now, all she has to focus on is beating him throughout the whole festival, and come out as the winner.
"The top forty-two have earned the right to advance! I'm sorry for the kids who failed, but have heart! This festival's showstopper is still being prepared! And now for the post-preliminaries, the final selection! From here on out, even the press corps will teem in a white heat of excitement, so go all out," Midnight yells, informing the crowd as she stands on her small stage. "Now then, onto today's heart-pounding second event! I already know what it will be, but the suspense is killing me! What could it be? Well, I'll tell you! Behold!"
The holographic screen, once again, shows their challenge.
'HUMAN CALVARY BATTLE!'
The pale haired girl quirks a confused brow. She understands the words separately, especially battle, but together it makes no sense. She's not the only one confused, and for that she mentally sighs in relief, as she hears kids murmur behind her in hushed tones. She can see a point of being paired in groups, but to battle everyone by themselves, well, that's utter chaos.
"You can all form two-four person teams freely and form a horseback configuration! Basically it's the same rules as a normal human cavalry battle : swipe enemy riders' headbands and guard your own . Except one thing. Everyone will receive points based on their performance in the last trial!" Midnight informs, only to get interrupted by a student.
"Which means that the point value of each human warhorse will change based on who's in it," Hagakure says, summing it up.
"Don't say what I was going to say before I can," the R rated hero yells, miffed that they figured it out. She sighs, calming down. "But yes, that's right! And the number of points you're worth will be five points if you placed forty-second, and so on. With the exception of first place, whose head is worth ten million points!"
Immediately after the heroine announced that, Kasai sharply turns her head to smirk threateningly at the green haired boy. Everyone seems to copy her actions as they all look towards Midoriya because right now, he's the common enemy. They all want that ten million! Despite her having the second most points, Kasai still wants the extra ten million, and she's not going to let anyone else steal it from her!
"If I were you, I'd aim for the guy who placed first," Midnight comments what everyone is suggesting, persuading them to see him more as a target. "This is the chance for the low to supplant the high! Welcome to our survival game!"
Kasai takes her words into consideration and thinks. She's aware that after Midoriya, she's the next big target which means she needs to pick her teammates carefully - wisely. But she also wants some strong players in her team.
"The time limit is fifteen minutes. The point value of each group's headband is worth the total point accumulation of each warhorse's members. And the one to wear the headband will be the warhorse's rider! Think of him or her as a standard-bearer. Until time is up, you'll all be fighting and stealing as many of each other's headbands as you can!" The raven haired heroine explains the details of the game. That's before she points to the screen next to her as an example displays. "You may not equip your headband on any area besides above your neck! As more and more headbands are taken, maintaining control of the situation will become more and more demanding! And the most important aspect of our human cavalry game, is that if you should lose your headband or crumble as a horse configuration, you're still not out of the game!"
Hmm, even if I can't manage to steal Midoriya's ten million, I can still steal enough to gain enough points and move on to the next part of the festival! Huh, I'm liking the idea of this cavalry a lot more, Kasai smirks, crossing her arms.
Midnight continues, lashing out her whip. "Quirks are of course allowed, so I want to see some fine brutality out there! That being said, this is still just a human cavalry battle game! If you attack any other group with malicious aim of breaking them up, that's a red card and you'll be forced to sit out the rest of the game! Alright, you have fifteen minutes until then! Start negotiating your team ups!"
"Right, teams," the girl mutters to herself. Bringing an arm up, she taps her chin in thought as she glances around at the students. "Who should I team up with? I need someone who can strategize under pressure, and I also need some who compliments my type of fighting, but I also need someone fast because I can't team up with someone who'll only slow me down. Think, Kasai, the answer is in front of you."
She looks up and sees a kid cowering under her gaze. Well, not literally in front of me, she scoffs.
Pushing past students who are begging to be on her team, she walks away trying to find the potential teammates. Like she said, she can't team up with just anybody. She needs members that can make her team a literal powerhouse. Strong enough to attack and defend, fast enough to move both precise and swiftly, and calculated enough to lead them to victory.
Breaking through, she comes to a stop as she connects her eyes with a pair she least expected.
STANDING IN THEIR current team of three, Kasai keeps her arms crossed as she listens to the person dish out a strategy that's sure to help them win. The girl never saw herself as a team player, but if it's necessary she will do what's expected of her in order to succeed. And this team up is just that.
"So, let me get this straight," the pale girl sighs out, locking her turquoise gaze with her brother's mismatched one. "You want to be the rider while Yaoyorozu and I get to be horses? Not to be completely rude, Shoto, but with your muscle weight, you're basically a fatass compared to us. Wouldn't it be easier if we carried Yaoyorozu," she questions before nodding to the raven haired girl who's awkwardly looking between the siblings.
The double quirked Todoroki gives his sister a blank look. "No. Yaoyorozu has a quirk that benefits this team greatly, she can create anything whether we're on offense or on defense against the other teams," he simply explains.
Kasai nods, accepting that notion. "Then, what about me? I'm shorter than the two of you," she asks, shrugging.
"I want you as a horse because you can use your flames to push others back, away from us," Shoto answers, narrowing his eyes at the mention of using fire. She's comfortable with her fire quirk, he isn't.
The girl quickly bites back, "You have a fire quirk, too. Along with an ice quirk. You can literally make walls of ice to block others out - side note, you should definitely use that! With that we can lessen the chances of more people aiming at Midoriya, giving ourselves the advantage -"
"I can still do that as the rider, Kasai," Shoto tells her, cutting her off from her strategic rambling.
Her left eye twitches before she gives up, sighing dramatically. "Fine, if you want it that badly, you can be the rider," she waves off.
"I think him being the rider is better," Yaoyorozu speaks up. "You being a horse gives the team the best chance at winning since you, from what I've seen so far, can manipulate your flames with skillful precision rather than him using his fire side which he only used once, and that was only briefly during the combat lesson weeks ago."
Kasai stares at the ravenette after her explanation, "I like you. You obviously tell the truth based on facts and say it no matter how bold or blunt it comes off as. Guess I'm a horse after all," she smirks. Shoto gives her an unimpressed look seeing as Yaoyorozu said almost the same thing he did. "Anyways, is the team just us, or do you have someone else in mind?"
"Most likely, Iida. He has the speed that can help us," the male Todoroki informs, glancing behind them.
Both girls follow his gaze and spot the aforementioned, and Kasai nods. "As much as it pains me, I agree with you. He'll be a definite key member to this team," she says making the other girl nod.
The three watch as Iida glances around, obviously trying to find teammates, but Kasai buys his attention as she waves him over in their direction. Giving a nod to confirm his place in their team, Iida walks forwards to meet them. However, just as he nears Yaoyorozu and the two Todorokis, he gets intercepted by Midoriya calling out to him. The pale girl glares at the green haired boy, burning holes at the side of his head. She won't allow him to steal first place again!
Sure, she calmed a bit after the race, but that was only because she managed to beat both her rivals. However, if Midoriya is going to steal first place out of her hands again, she won't give him the opportunity to even try. One time is enough for her. Plus, that's the only reason why she's working with her brother on this, because they have a common enemy and right now he's currently worth ten million points.
"...As awesome as ever, MIdoriya, but my apologies. I refuse." Kasai hears Iida reject whatever Midoriya just offered. She smirks when she watches the tall boy turn towards their trio. "Ever since the entrance exam, I've been doing nothing but lose to you. You're an amazing friend, but it's precisely because of that that if I only ever follow you, that I'll never grow myself. And Bakugou and the Todorokis aren't the only ones who see you as a rival, my friend. So, I'll be doing my best to challenge myself against you," Iida informs, finally walking to them.
Kasai gives Midoriya and Uraraka a threatening smirk, feeling smug. Izuku slightly deters at the sight of both Todorokis working together, especially after the girl's declaration to beat her brother. He's known Kasai since middle school, so he knows how skilled she is, and if her brother is anything like her, then he's in trouble.
He noticed that they act like the quirks they use. The male Todoroki is as cold and stiff like his ice and the female Todoroki is just as hot and temperamental like her fire. Opposites, but working together makes them powerful.
Looking away from the duo, Kasai turns to her complete team and listens as her brother informs Iida on their strategy.
"The reason I chose all of you is because I think this is the battle formation with the best balance," Shoto informs, finally getting into detail on why he chose them. From the moment he walked up to her, Kasai always wondered why when there's obvious tension between them. "Kasai, you're on the left. And like I said, you'll send out flames to make sure the enemy never gets too close."
She stiffly nods, accepting her role.
"Yaoyorozu, you're on the right. Also, like we talked about, you'll be making us an insulator sheet, plus whatever defense and mobility you can provide." Shoto reminds, making the girl nod.
"Iida, you're at the front with your engine power. You'll be our physical defense as well," the Todoroki says to the class president.
He accepts his role, though as prepared as he always is, he voices his concern. "And Todoroki, you can feint your attacks by using either ice or heat, right?"
Shoto looks away, narrowing his eyes. This Makes Kasai follow his gaze and immediately spots what he's looking at.
More like who.
Their father.
A minuscule frown paints her lips as insecurity fills her, is he also trying to impress him? Why? It's not like he needs anymore praise, he is the golden child after all! Apart from his need to be here, is he only here to watch Shoto? It would make sense if he did, after all in his eyes, I'm nothing but a failure. Kasai instantly deflates as her euphoria of her earlier win diminishes to rejection.
"No," her brother's answer shocks her. She always wondered what kept him from using his flames. Why wouldn't he? "While in combat, I'll never, ever, use my heat side. That's why Kasai is here. If the situation arises for the need to use fire, I'll entrust it to her."
Now, that definitely shocks her. He's trusting her.
They have speed. A calm under pressure. But most importantly, in that moment, they have compatibility.
Everything to ensure their victory in this round.
Let's do this, Kasai nods, regaining her confidence.
¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤
"WAKE UP, ERASER! Their fifteen minutes to form teams and strategies are finally up! And thirteen warhorses have lined up on the field," Present Mic announces as their time comes to an end.
"Looks like we have quite the interesting line ups," Kasai hears the bored tone of her homeroom teacher say.
Rolling her eyes, the girl then narrows them as she looks around her at the other teams. She can easily spot the ash blond hair that belongs to Bakugou, and notices that he paired up with Kirishima, Ashido, and Sero. When her icy gaze meets his carmine eyes, she gives him a glare - a silent proclamation that she's going to beat him - which he returns. Taking her eyes off of him, she then spots Midoriya's team up of Tokoyami, Uraraka, and a pink haired girl that from the looks of all the equipment she's carrying, Kasai can only guess that she's from the Support course.
Interesting, she muses.
"Now raise up your battle cries and fire the signal! May the blood of the rocks be washed by yet more blood! Now's the time UA's deadly feud! Let's do it! Let's start the countdown to this vicious clash!"
"3!"
"2!"
"Just one target," Shoto says to them as he tightens the 720 headband around his head.
"1!"
"Start!"
Kasai smirks.
Almost immediately, everyone goes straight towards Midoriya. Kasai can hear a team of class 1-B yell out a warcry, determined to the high points. Keeping her composure, the white haired girl focuses on their plan, on her sole part to defend her team. Nothing else matters. Not the other teams, not the other students, just her and her team. But most importantly, getting those ten million points!
Though, as everyone went towards the green haired boy, it turned out to be all of them going against each other in hopes to gain that ten million. Kasai observed on the move how the other class 1-B team used a quirk to sink Midoriya and his team into the ground like quicksand. Unfortunately, that left him the option to escape with a jetpack, courtesy of the Support course girl. But it doesn't last long when he comes down for a landing making Shoji, Mineta, and Tsuyu attack them with their shielded offense. The first 1-B team of Tetsutetsu also attacks him, but again, they escape with the jetpack.
Kasai sharpens her turquoise gaze when she sees Bakugou follow after him in a desperate attempt. She gets the the desperation, but she's not reckless enough to leave her team like him. She scoffs, idiot.
At the halfway mark, they check the rankings, and the white haired girl finds herself surprised when most of her class teams are in last. Class 1-B rising in high rankings.
Narrowing her gaze into a sharp glare, she focuses back on her task as they zero in on MIdoriya. Iida makes it easier for them when he takes the direction to intercept them. She feels her rosen lips lift in a daunting smirk, silently challenging them.
"I'll be taking that now," her brother declares, referencing the ten million.
To make the situation more daring, Kasai sets her white locks ablaze to seem more intimidating.
It's there, in arms reach, and she's not letting it slip away. Not again! This time, she'll grasp onto first place tightly!
Her icy gaze turns to slits when she notices them taking the choice to flee, and luckily she's not the one who notices. Bracing himself, Shoto leans a bit forward and narrows his mismatched eyes.
"Iida, forward."
"Right," the tall boy concurs, moving forward and revving his engines for speed.
"Yaoyorozu, prepare to guard us and to conduct heat," Shoto tells the girl.
"Right," she nods, moving to do just that.
"Kasai, you -"
She smirks, glaring at the team ahead of them. "You don't have to tell me twice," she states, knowing her part.
As they move closer, Kasai smirks even wider when she notices other teams following after them towards Midoriya. It's all coming to play. She can feel the fire in her veins, ready to burst at the seams.
"Make sure you cover yourselves, you don't wanna get burned," she warns her teammates, her hair wisping with wild embers. "Solar Heat, Scorching Blaaaaaze!"
With her yell, her body immediately releases pale whips and fire tendrils of aggressive glowing flames. They all scatter like an explosion of sunlight, attacking everyone around her with constant licks of intense heat. The attack scorches their skin scathing sunburns, almost like receiving several burning punches which makes them all jolt back with the instant heat. It pushes those behind them several steps back as they wince at their newfound sunburns.
Her teammates were safe due to the fireproof blanket that Yaoyorozu created for them.
Kasai smirks in satisfaction when she hears the other competitors yell and groan in pain, those of her class yelling out her name.
Shoving the sheet off him, Shoto glares ahead. "Less than six minutes left. We can't break down now," and with that he moves to freeze the metal conductor running along them in the ground.
With that swift move, he froze the ground and everyone that Kasai just burned, making them stick in place.
"Sorry, but you'll just have to bear with it," he says to them, clearly taking them out of the competition.
"Todoroki took care of that crowd of teams in an instant!" Present Mic comments out loudly.
"He froze them after Todoroki's heat-wave stunned them. I guess it should be expected, but he took into account how a lot of people avoided it in the obstacle course," Aizawa assesses.
"Nice comment!"
As they move passed the teams, Kasai smirks as her brother steals their headbands away. Shoto then takes into consideration of what his sister said earlier, and instantly decides to block the competitors out as he makes a wall of ice to surround them. This motion makes Kasai smile and her heart slightly swell, but she quickly pushes it away to focus on the cavalry.
Narrowing her eyes on Izuku and his team, the pale haired girl grins maliciously as she notices them slowing down. Especially so, when her team seems to close in on them with Iida's speed. In that moment, she's grateful that Yaoyorozu made her some rollerskates because she wouldn't have kept up with just running.
As they inch closer, Tokoyami takes the incentive to attack with his Dark Shadow, but Yaoyorozu, who's quick as ever, blocks it with the help of her Creation quirk. The shadow hits the metal defense which raises to shield Shoto at the last second. Giving out a sigh of relief, the Todoroki girl glares at her opposing team.
Jumping back, Izuku, Tokoyami, Ochaco, and Hatsume all try to add distance between themselves and Team Todoroki. "Yaoyorozu's Creation quirk is too hard to deal with," Izuku breathes out, assessing the girl's power.
Tokoyami shakes his head. "No... Kasai is worse. With that level of armor, if it had been sunlight, Dark Shadow would've been ripped apart. And her quirk is as close to the real thing."
Izuku looks up to the said girl, finally realizing. "I see, Kasai's Holy Fire..."
"As long as she keeps shooting out flames, attacking will be difficult. Dark Shadow will become timid."
Reaching the field line, Team Izuku comes to a standstill. No where to escape.
"Team Midoriya has nowhere left to go!" Present Mic announces to spectators. "One minute left! Todoroki made it so he'd have the ten million to himself to seize in an instant! At least, that's what I though five minutes ago! But unbelievably, MIdoriya's been able to keep away in that cramped space for five minutes!"
Kasai assesses the situation silently, taking note that every time Iida takes a step forward, Izuku directs his team a step to her brother's left. Interesting, she muses as she keeps a sharp eye on their movements, it's like they want him to use his fire side. Or did Midoriya figure out that Shoto hardly ever, almost never, uses his left side? Of course he'd notice something like that, that boy's perceptive of every little thing!
She sighs, however, Shoto trusted me use my fire when he wouldn't. Despite our estranged relationship, this notion of trust will guarantee us first place, and I'm not throwing it away!
"Everyone, there's less than a minute left. You won't be able to use me after this," Iida says, making Kasai furrow her brows in confusion. "I'm counting on you!"
"Iida," Kasai and Shoto question in synch. They did it again - back at the USJ and now, quickly meeting eyes, they push it away.
Getting in a runner's stance, Iida bends slightly forward. "Hang on tight."
Kasai tightens her right hand grip on Iida's left shoulder and does the same with his hand, bracing herself for what's to come. Clenching her jaw, the girl narrows her icy gaze on her current enemy.
"Make sure you get it, Todoroki," Iida tells the boy, revving his engines all the way until bright blue flames fire out. "Torque Over - "
And the next thing Kasai knows is that she's shooting forwards at high speed, faster than she's ever experienced. Her breath literally leaves her lungs in shock, her face feels the intense wind velocity of their speed.
"Reciproburst!"
They shoot ahead several feet until Iida turns and makes a stop. The pale haired girl is still in state of awe, of shock, of both! She knew Iida had the ability to shoot forward at high speeds, but she never anticipated this. Shaking her head, the girl finally acknowledges the headband in her brother's hand - which is basically in front of face - and she once again feels that swell of her heart! They got the ten million!
Who would have thought that working with her brother would turn out to be successful!?
She didn't!
Shaking her head at their very good teamwork, she reminds herself that it's not over yet. To focus! It's the last seconds of the second round and anything can still happen!
"What happened? So fast! So fast! Iida, if you can accelerate that fast, then show us in the prelims!" Present Mic yells out, just as shocked.
"W-What was that," Shoto questions, still reeling with what just happened.
"By forcing the torque and rotations to increase, I created an explosive power. With the recoil, my engine stalls after a while, though. It's a secret move I hadn't told anyone in the class yet," Iida explains, which Kasai finds herself nodding along to - she understands the point of having secret moves, after all they are the aces of their decks. "I told you, didn't I, Midoriya? That I'd challenge you."
The crowd cheers when they finally realize what happened.
"The tables have turned! Offense and defense right at the edge! Reining that in, Team Todoroki gets the ten million! And Team Midoriya is suddenly left with zero points!"
"Get back in there!" Izuku yells, desperate for points.
"As long as they have Kasai, we'll be at a disadvantage if we attack!" Tokoyami reminds. "Won't it be safer to try for other points right now?"
"No," Izuku yells, determined. "I don't know how the other points got split up! This is our only chance!"
"All right!" Ochaco exclaims, running, and pushing her team forward. "We'll get it back, Deku! We definitely will!"
Watching at the other team suddenly rushes over towards them, Kasai glares scathingly as she prepares herself to attack. She especially doesn't like how that damned Deku is aiming at Shoto's left side! She knows that the boy will try anything, take any advantage he has, to get back the ten million. In her peripheral vision she notices how her brother raises his left arm. She frowns.
'If the situation arises for the need to use fire, I'll entrust it to her.'
That's what he told them at the beginning of the cavalry, she can't let him down.
"Turn right! Iida, turn right," she yells, startling her team, as Team Midoriya nears them by the millisecond. "Do it now!"
With a swift move, their battle horse is turned to the right, leaving Kasai to take the blunt hit of Midoriya's incoming attack. Raising her elbow slight while still carrying her brother's weight, Kasai ignites her left side and shoots out scorching embers of white hot flames! Though, not being one to let up, Izuku thrives forward and swipes his fist towards Kasai. The air pressure is more than enough to blow out her fire, extinguishing them and making enough of an opening.
Wide eyed in shock that his punch caused her fire to flame out, the girl grits her teeth and curses at herself for leaving her team open. For failing them! Because in that small opening, Midoriya once again came in at the last second and stole that sense of victory from her. Literally stealing a the headband from her brother's neck.
She never saw Izuku as a rival, but with the way he keeps stealing her victories, she is definitely reconsidering that!
"I got it," Midoriya yells, and all Kasai can do at the moment is give him a murderous glare.
"With just eleven seconds left, there's an angry retrieval here, too!"
"Wait a second. Isn't this the wrong headband?" Hatsume asks, looking at the one they retrieved.
Momo turns to them. "Just in case, we changed the positions of the headbands! You were naïve, MIdoriya," she informs which makes Kasai shocked before she exhales in relief.
"Kasai, Todoroki, get a hold of yourself! That was close," Iida tells the siblings.
The pale haired girl clenches her jaw, tell me about it!
"Oh no! Team Midoriya didn't retrieve the ten million points! Time's just about up! Start the countdown!" Present Mic announces, making Midnight ring the timer.
"Tokoyami!" Izuku yells, desperate.
"Kasai!" Shoto yells.
In a haste, Tokoyami sends out Dark Shadow and Kasai immediately shoots out her left arm - making Shoto lean on the others as she defends - blasting a torrent of sun blinding flames. As their attacks clash, crashing against the other in a battle of darkness and light, the ice barrier suddenly explodes as Bakugou rushes in. Halting her flames with Dark Shadow, she then raises her arm at the ash blond.
"Uraraka," Izuku yells for support to move faster.
"Got it," she screams out, very determined.
"Yaoyorozu," Shoto follows the notion when he notices Iida's engines stalling.
"The ten million points are.." Bakugou says to himself, still in midair, as he looks between the two teams.
Momo gives Shoto a steel staff which he immediately encases in ice, preparing to attack just as Kasai's outstretched hand flares with white embers, ready to shoot them out. Izuku moves forward as well, planning to take back his lost headband.
"Half and Half Bastard! White Out!" Bakugou yells at the sight of the two guarding Todorokis.
Every second is anticipated as it counts down, the two opposing teams moving and inching closer towards the Todorokis. Though, just as they're at arms length, the buzzer sounds.
"Time's up!" Present Mic yells making the audience roar with cheers, and simultaneously, Bakugou falls to the ground in a heap. "That's the end of the second round, the cavarly battle!"
Getting out of their battle horse positions, Kasai ignores a tantrum throwing Bakugou on the floor and decides to stretch her aching muscles.
"Now, let's take a look at the top four teams right away! In first place, Team Todoroki!"
Kasai grins at the victory, acknowledging the fact that she did indeed work with her brother to get it. She can't lie or ignore the fact that they really do work well together. Maybe she needs to think her hostility with him, right? Well, them alone are a great combination, that's fact. But when their father becomes a factor, she still can't ignore the unrelenting jealousy that she feels, it's there for a reason. And it's not going anywhere just because she worked well with her brother for this event!
Her feelings are justified! The jealousy, the disdain, the insecurity, the animosity, everything! Just because they worked well, she still can't help feeling second place to her brother - it's been there her whole life. Like a dark shadow that won't go away.
Looking away from her brother, she focuses on her victory because she can't afford to be swayed by her doubts right now! She needs to show, to prove, that she's better! That she's not the failure that her father sees her as! That she's worthy enough to become a hero!
She looks at the audience in the stands and when her piercing eyes eventually land on her father, she glares.
I'll become a hero no matter what he thinks of me!

Whoooo! That is Chapter Eleven! YATTA! Sorry, it took a month to finally update again! I blame my procrastination, because that tedious thing always gets in the way, and also because I get distracted easily - like I say i'll draw today, but then i end up watching tv, and blah blah blah.
Anyways, i was also in the mood to write because I just finished watching season 4 of BNHA on Hulu, and daaayyyuuuuum! Intense! Chisaki is love even though he's a murderous sociopath - oh well. Eri makes me ultra soft uwu - same goes for Amajiki! Shigaraki is still a badass, i love him 3 And that Endeavor battle had me on the edge! Okay enough gushing *slaps self*
So, Kasai got second place in the race! I love her! She deserves the little wins she works for!
Oof! Did you expect her to team up with Shoto!? (Sorry Kaminari) They did have a common enemy in that moment - Izuku. Especially when he stole first place in the race from my angry white haired queen!
Oh, and that Solar Heat-Scorching Blaze, just imagine it as repetitive whips of fire that hit you with a leveled up and instant sunburn! Like have you ever had hot water spilt on you, well imagine little lashes of that heat hitting you several times over. Yeah!
Shoto definitely entrusts her to help him when needed, and is Kasai slowly learning to like him - I think she is, but she still definitely has her struggles with him. Very slowly, but surely! Expect their progress to be hella bumpy!
Oop - is Izuku a potential new rival? I don't know!

CHAPTER 12: CONFLAGRATION
_
THIRD POV
WHEN THE CAVALRY battle came to an end, and the top four teams were announced to move on into the next round, they were given a lunch break before the rest of the festival commenced. Kasai gave her gratitude to Yaoyorozu as Iida talked with Uraraka, telling the ravenette that they wouldn't have reached first place if it wasn't for her help and skills. Parting from the crowd, the pale teened girl makes her way towards the cafeteria for food, especially after burning herself out with the constant use of her quirk.
With the Obstacle Race and the Cavalry Battle, her skin became irritated with minor burns and her palms have tiny blisters from the heat of her flames. Maybe after refueling with some food she could pay a visit to Recovery Girl. Nodding to the plan, she waits in line for lunch as the other students also hustle around to eat.
Grabbing a bowl of white rice with a side of two meat buns and a can of strawberry juice, Kasai quickly takes a seat at an empty table. Though, soon enough, she's being surrounded by her classmates who also sit down with their lunches. They greeted her with smiles and she gave them all a nod of acknowledgement.
"So, Kasai, you sure surprised us when you teamed up with your brother. Especially after your declaration to beat him," Tsuyu states, looking at the female Todoroki.
She glances at the ravenette, and simply shrugs. "That only happened because we had a common enemy with Midoriya, but yes, it surprised me, too," she says before sipping on her juice.
"If you don't mind me asking, were you and your brother always so...hostile," Uraraka questions shyly, pointing her two index fingers together.
By now, their whole table is listening which makes Kasai slightly grimace. "Um..not really. We got along when we were young children, if that answers your question."
"Then, why the hostility," Mina voices out.
"To put it simply, I got jealous."
"Jealous?!" the brunette of the girls exclaims. "Why? because he has two quirks?"
Kasai smirks, giving a small bitter laugh. "No, well...somewhat. Because he had two quirks, he also got our father's full attention, and since he already had our mother's attention, it kind of left me in the dark yearning for some sort of affection. Of course, I had older siblings to compensate for my loneliness, especially my oldest brother, but it's not the same as having a parent doting after you. Shoto got the praise, the attention, all of it, and eventually I grew bitter because of it - causing our relationship to grow estranged," she sighs out, poking at her rice.
"Hence you making the declaration to beat him, to show that you're better than him," Tsuyu says, looking at the brooding girl.
"Yup. To show him that even if I didn't get the attention or training that he did, I can prove to Shoto that I'm better than him. I'll show both him and my father that I'm the one to beat, and nothing will stop me!" Kasai declares fiercely, her locks bursting into flames with determination.
"That's a lot a pressure, are you sure you can do it," Mina questions bluntly.
Kasai's flames die out as her shoulders slump. "You sure know how to kill the mood, Ashido," the Todoroki retorts, returning to her lunch.
The pink toned girl laughs. "I'm just saying, because when I have a lot of pressure I usually mess up."
Ochaco smiles at them. "I don't think being under pressure effects Kasai. I mean, didn't you see her in the obstacle race," the brunette informs, locking gazes with the pale haired girl. "She literally burned through the race like it was nothing!"
The frog like girl nods. "Yeah, ribbit. She kept a steady pace all throughout the race and eventually made the lead until Midoriya landed in first."
"That's right!" Mina grins, nodding and pointing to the pale girl. "And Kasai, talk about killer moves, you completely destroyed those zero-pointer robots! You were like, pssh! Pssh! Boom!" The curly haired girl yells, mimicking Kasai's previous actions of creating the fire hoops.
The Todoroki smiles amused, but genuinely warmed by their compliments. "Thanks, but you guys are making me sound like this very amazing person, when really all I am is very determined. You three did amazing work too. Uraraka, you constantly made your team float great distances in the cavalry, and not once did you get sick. Ashido, let's just say it, you had to deal with Bakugou, and from experience I can say that's hard enough. But you also helped out at the very last moments by speeding your team forward, probably wouldn't have come in second if you hadn't. And Tsu, you and Mineta had that very strategic plan to use Shoji's quirk to your advantage. I just used my quirk to the best of my ability, no different to you three."
"Wow, you're actually very nice when you're not yelling," Mina comments.
Kasai slumps, deadpanning. "Way to kill the mood, again," she says, making the three girls laugh out.
They continued to talk, and surprisingly, Kasai found herself having a good time. She found out that Mina loved to dance and how she incorporates that into her fighting, which made her say that she does the same with her yoga and aerobics. They even conversed about their interest in the different kinds of music they like, which got them gushing about their favorite artists.
Eventually, their hour of lunch came to an end, and the pale haired girl totally forgot about her burned hands. She didn't mind, they didn't really bother her. Burns were normal for her, and she wasn't going to complain because she has a few small ones.
Interestingly enough, Kasai found herself befriending Mina. Yeah, she wasn't the one to talk much, but she listened to the girl and spoke up with the topics she liked.
Finishing her can of strawberry juice, she got up to throw away her trash only to be intercepted by both Yaoyorozu and Jiro.
"Girls, we've been informed about a cheerleading competition between classes," the ravenette told them.
Kasai frowns at the mention of that. "A cheerleading competition? Between classes? Who told you this," she questioned, not sure about this information.
"Apparently, Aizawa sensei forgot to mention it," Jiro huffs, crossing her arms.
"That sounds like fun," Hagakure says, startling Kasai.
I didn't even know she was here, she thinks with wide eyes.
"Oh, it does! I want to show my killer moves," Mina cheers, feeling excited.
"I think it would be fun," Ochaco smiles softly, Tsu nods to her words - agreeing.
"I find this whole thing sketchy," Kasai crosses her arms, narrowing her icy gaze. "Isn't Aizawa suppose to notify us of all events, and why did he do it so last minute."
"Come on, Kasai! It's a competition! Do you really want to worry about how it sounds rather than helping us win? Do you want the other classes to win," Mina tells her new buddy, knowing that the girl is really competitive.
The female Todoroki sighs. "Fine, you got me there," she says before raising her fists. "Let's beat those losers and show them who's best!"
"Yeah," Mina and Ochaco yell, just as determined.
"BEFORE WE GET started with the final event, there's good news for those who dropped out of the preliminaries. In the end this is still a sports festival! So to have everyone continue to be able to participate, we've got some recreational events in store! Just look how fired up those cheerleaders we called from America are - Huh?! What's this?" Present Mic announces, which makes the girls of 1-A realize.
Standing in her orange cheerleading outfit that Momo created for them, Kasai grits her teeth as she glares at the air. She knew it was sketchy from the beginning, but noooo, the girls convinced her participate.
"What are they even.." Aizawa's voice sounds through the speakers, completely confused and that's what does it for Kasai.
"What happened to Class 1-A," the blond pro hero exclaims.
She figures out that they've been played, and she has an assumption of who was the cause.
The pale haired girl scowls and her eyes immediately dart to her classmates who're further in the field. When she finds the sights of Kaminari and Mineta up ahead, she gives a scathing death glare at the two, and satisfaction fills her when she sees them flinch.
"Kaminari, Mineta! You tricked us, didn't you," Yaoyorozu yells, upset that she got tricked.
Lighting her hands on fire, her pompoms instantly catch fire and the colored frills pop off like sad confetti. Her hair ignites in an angry flare. "You fuckers! I'm going to kill both of your pathetic asses! I'm going to make your lives a living hell!" She roars, preparing to charge at them.
Luckily for them, Mina clutches to Kasai's shoulders tightly and holds her back, which allows them to run off and avoid the very angry hot-head. But it doesn't matter, the girl will get her payback later, when they least expect it.
Whilst Yaoyorozu was in the dumps with her feelings and Uraraka trying to reassure her, Jiro and Kasai were silently seething at their situation, Mina was still holding on to the hot tempered Todoroki for precaution. Out off all of them, it was Hagakure who was still cheery, she waved her pompoms around and about trying to uplift the girls' spirits.
In the audience, Endeavor glared down at the sight of his youngest. It came as a shock to him when he first saw Kasai participating in the Obstacle Race. He wasn't even aware that she became a student at UA, let alone in the Hero Course. He believed that she was continuing her education at a regular high school - following in Natsuo's footsteps, but no, she was here. Of course, he should have expected something of this caliber from her, she was always rebellious.
Between Shoto and Kasai, the latter proved to be more of a black sheep with her defiance and rule-breaking.
However, he can't deny the skill she shows with her fire quirk. Because unlike Shoto, who defies him by not using his fire side, Kasai shows impressive control with her flames. The obstacle race showed that she can use both large scale attacks and small controlled bursts, and that's all without his training. He noticed that the girl is fueled with her emotions, more specifically, her anger. The man witnessed the ever present glare on her face throughout the festival, and it was always towards the two he recalled as Midoriya and Bakugou - but mostly towards Shoto.
He should be disappointed in her because she ignored his rules by not keeping to a regular education, but he feels slight pride that she rose to the occasion by her own terms. In a sense, he can see some of himself in his daughter, like how they both fight for their own spotlights, that burning determination to be the best, with that they're the same.
However, if he's collating both his children, Enji finds Kasai to be a failure compared to Shoto.
No matter how many victories she wins... she will never be enough.
Shaking her head out of the anger, Kasai knew there were the three teams which consisted all of Class 1-A. Then, there was two other kids she didn't know anything about, well apart from Hatsume who's in the Support Course. One was that kid who declared war on class 1-A the other day, the one with indigo hair, Kasai didn't know what he could do. And she was just as clueless with the other one.
"And after that, it's the final event! From four teams, sixteen individuals have made it through! It's a tournament! We're pitting them against each other in one-on-one combat," Present Mic announces making the crowd in the stands cheer loudly.
The white haired girl smirks manically, ready to kick some ass.
"A tournament, eh? Finally, I'm gonna have the opportunity to appear on the stage I see on the TV every year," Kirishima grins, raising his fists.
"There was a tournament last year, too," Mina questions, standing between the boy and the smirking Tododroki.
"Now we're going to do a drawing to determine the pairings. So, contestants, we're going to continue with recreational events before beginning the tournament. The sixteen participants can choose to abstain from the recreational events if those so choose. There's no problem if you'd like to rest and save your energy," Midnight informs, making Kasai nod in agreement.
She doesn't need to showcase her quirk anymore, the obstacle race and human cavalry gave the audience enough of a presentation. She uses fire, her flames are white, nothing so flashy or special. The girl needs the moment to rest, to think of her gameplay. Her strategies. She simply can not rush in and burn the competition, it doesn't work that way. The other students saw her quirk, too, so they know how she fights. Kasai needs a battle plan, one that will guarantee her first place!
Anyways, the Todoroki girl snaps back when someone raises their hand, interrupting Midnight from continuing. Using her icy gaze to follow the raised hand, she finds her fellow classmate - Ojiro, as the culprit. Furrowing a pale eyebrow, she listens how he chooses to drop out of the final event, saying how he doesn't remember getting here, how it's unfair to those who gave it there all. After him, the other kid she knows nothing about - the short chubby one, he decides to drop out for the exact same reasons.
Her turquoise eyes narrow, that General Education kid, he definitely has something to do with this. Most likely his quirk. Well, this is an overall competition and he obviously played it.
Eventually, Class 1-B's Tetsutetsu and Shiozaki joined the final event in place of those who dropped out. Kasai said nothing, but she just nodded along with the changes. After all, it's not her memory that got messed with.
"Let's show the pairings!" Midnight yelled, slashing her whip.
Kasai let her eyes read the pairings. First was Shinso versus Midoriya. Next, was Todoroki, S versus Sero. Then...
SHIOZAKI v. TODOROKI, K
Glancing to the side, she stabs her narrowed gaze at the side of her opponent's head, smirking. Reeling her mind to the previous events, she remembers that the girl's hair mimics vines, extending and growing just like the plant.
Kasai nods.
However, her icy gaze returns to the pairings and she glares at the revelation.
If I - No, WHEN I win against Shiozaki, I'm going to face off against either Iida or Hatsume. After that, I have the definite chance to fight against Shoto! That's if he wins both his matches. He better win just so I can beat him down in front of everybody!

AS THE RECREATIONAL games went on, Kasai stood next to a bent down Jiro as they both glowered at their situation. Around them the other girls cheered enthusiastically minus Yaoyorozu who cheered half-heartedly. The Todoroki wanted out of the cheerleading outfit, it was obscene and very exposing, she hated it.
Luckily, for her, the the games came to an end and the hot tempered girl wasted no time in changing back to her fitness uniform. She and the rest of the class eventually made it to their assigned viewing area in the stands. When Kasai came in and laid eyes upon the two boys responsible for the whole cheerleading situation, she immediately zeroed in on them with a scathing death aura.
"You," the white haired girl seethed, marching over to them.
Both Mineta and Kaminari blanched in fear, scooting back with every step she took. Their classmates did nothing to stop the vicious Todoroki, they just distanced themselves from her wrath.
"H-h-hey K-Kasai, n -"
"I-it was -"
"I don't care," the girl interrupted them, her eyes turning demonic. "So, you enjoy seeing girls in little to nothing clothes, huh?! Well, these girls are my friends and you embarrassed them, especially Yaoyorozu! So, in their honor, I'm going to make you regret fooling us!"
The class of 1-A all winced when they heard the two boys yelp, scream, and squeal like a bunch of little girls, especially so when they noticed Kasai using her quirk on them. Eventually, the said girl stepped out from the clouds of smoke with a satisfied smirk, dusting of her hands. The girls of the class all grinned when they saw both Mineta and Kaminari, giggling at their outcome. The other boys, apart from a few, of the class all smirked, stifling their laughs.
Mineta and Kaminari both had their fitness uniforms burned. Kasai made it so they resembled crop tops and short shorts, a payback for making the girls wear cheerleading uniforms.
From her seat, Kasai crossed her arms and kicked her legs up on another chair. "Now, you get a taste of how we felt. Not very satisfying, huh, boys," she questioned.
They nodded rapidly, their faces flushed in embarrassment.
"Definitely don't want to be on her bad side," Kirishima commented, wide eyed.
"Tell me about it," Sero agreed.
"Todoroki, this act of retaliation is highly unethical especially at this time," Iida tells the girl, who raises a brow at him. "But I understand the circumstances in which you did so, especially when it means defending someone's honor!"
Kasai nodded.
"After so many events, finally the one versus one battles, those which we really wanted to see! The only person you count on is yourself!" Present Mic announces which brings everyone's attention to the arena.
The pale haired girl narrows her eyes, here it comes.
"The first fight! His grades aren't bad, but what the hell is that expression?! From the Department of Heroes, Midoriya Izuku! Against, we're sorry, but he's only a normal student without anything special!" Kasai shakes her head, no wonder the other department students hate them. "Shinso Hitoshi!"
"The rules are simple! If your opponent leaves the ring, can't move anymore or says 'i give up', then the victory is yours! Don't worry about overdoing yourself! A Recovery Girl is waiting prepared at the edge of the stadium! So, leave your morale to the side and give it your all!" Present Mic announces the rules of the tournament and Kasai finds herself smiling, fired up! "Of course, to put the life of an opponent at risk is not permitted. If you do that you will be be disqualified immediately! Heroes should only attack without mercy when attacking villains!"
"Begin!"
Kasai, and everyone else, watches how Midoriya starts off the match by running towards Shinso. However, he suddenly comes to a stop which makes everyone confused. The girl raises her eyebrows when she hears Ojiro yell in a panic, making her look at the blond, back to the match, and back to the blond before narrowing her eyes. She then remembers that it was because of Shinso that Ojiro dropped out, and somehow Midoriya fell into the same situation.
Rolling her eyes, Kasai is unimpressed with this match. Seemingly so, since the match practically screams over when she notices the green haired boy turn around, walking to out of bounds lone. The Todoroki scoffs, tightening her crossed arms.
She lost to him in the obstacle race, he snuffed out her flames with that swipe in the cavalry battle, and now he's losing?! What a joke, she feels embarrassed for herself if this is what it comes down to. She expected Midoriya to do better, especially when his actions built up quite the hype.
Though, before Kasai can change her focus onto something more interesting, her attention is suddenly bought when Midoriya uses his quirk just when he's at the edge of the boundary. It's just his index finger, but it's enough of a blast to snap him back. To snap him back to reality from Shinso's Brainwashing quirk - which Present Mic announced. Dropping her legs from their propped up position, the girl sits forward and watches the match.
Her icy gaze watches as Midoriya rushes back to Shinso, who's more aggravated now opposed to his former calm demeanor. The two boys push each other, Midoriya pushing the latter towards the boundary line, but Shinso punches the former in the face. Eventually, it comes to an end when her classmate throws the General Ed kid over his shoulder and out of bounds. Kasai recognized that shoulder throw, it was the one he used on Bakugou in the Battle Trial.
With Midoriya winning, the crowd cheers, but overall this match was very anticlimactic.
"Yo, Bakugou, that's the same overhead throw he used on you, isn't it," Kaminari pointed out, grinning.
The ash blond glared. "Shut it, drooly!"
Kasai didn't laugh at his apparent anger, instead she watched as her brother made his way out of the viewing area. The two Todorokis glanced at each other, their gazes clashing, but that's all they needed. No words were ever needed between them, it was just their tension.
Shoto walked through the halls, it was time for his match. Just him alone, no team to support him. Not even words of encouragement from his sister. Kasai was never the one to speak, or encourage. She already said her part when she declared to beat him. Her seething glare was engrained into his mind.
Turning the corner, he comes face to face with the identical glare. Only this one belongs to his father.
"Out of my way," Shoto tells him.
"Your behavior has been nothing, but disgraceful, Shoto," Endeavor huffed, looking down at his son with crossed arms. "If you had used the power at your left side, you could have crushed both the obstacle race race and the cavalry battle easily. However, you let your failure of a sister get one up on you! Your resistance is childish and tiresome. So stop fucking around and see to your duty to surpass All Might. Has it penetrated yet?! You're different from your older brothers and your younger sister! You are my great masterpiece!"
"Is that all that will ever spew out of your goddamn mouth? I will earn my victories using only mom's power. And I will never use your power in any battle," Shoto informs, glaring as he keeps stalking out of the hallway.
"Even if that works for you now, in high school, you'll reach the limit soon enough," the flame hero states.
Back in the viewing area, Kasai narrows her eyes when she spots her brother walk out into the arena. She doesn't pay any mind to Sero, who's at the opposite end, she only focuses on her brother. She wants to see every detail of his fight, his strategy. How will he use his ice? Will it be an instant onslaught? An endurance match? Will he calculate his moves?
"He's turned in an excellent performance to make it this far, and yet, what's up with that Plain Jane expression?! Does it ever come off?! Sero Hanta of the Heroics Department! Versus! You who stands at the top of the top! He who is way too damn strong! From the selfsame department of Herois, Todoroki Shoto!"
"Start," Present Mic yells.
She watches how Sero starts initiates the fight by instantly shooting out his tape. Her icy gaze follows the tape as it wraps itself around her brother's body. The actions are swiftly made by Sero as he pulls Shoto across the arena, and towards the end of the boundary.
"A lightning quick surprise assault aiming for a ring-out! Almost without a doubt the best choice he could have made! Earnestly, give it your all, Sero," the pro hero commentates quickly, and enthusiastically.
Though, it was that very second when the match completely turned around. Because the next thing Kasai, and everyone, knew was that a sudden ice wall appeared. The sharp shards of crystalline ice reached the top of the stadium, some even coming close to daggering some of class 1-A's students. The female Todoroki was left breathless in shock, her turquoise eys wide at the scene. Heck, her eyes were wide with the mere fact that ice was a few inches away from her face. Gulping, the staggers into a standing position and turns, simply walking out of the viewing area.
As Midnight announces Shoto as the winner, Kasai clenches her fists in frustration.
Just how strong are you, Shoto? How far is the distance between you and I, the girl thinks, gritting her teeth.
¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤
STANDING ON THE cement arena, Kasai ignores the roaring of the spectators as she turns it into white noise. Her ears ring as her icy blue sight narrows into sharp daggers. The luminescent flames flare in her veins, ready for release. Her breathing is controlled as she inhales and exhales, the rhythm synchronizing with that of her heartbeat.
"She has a hot temper and has the scathing heat to back it up! From the Heroic Department, Todoroki Kasai! Versus! The girl with a killer set of hair! From the same department of Heroes, Shiozaki Ibara!"
Inhaling one last time, all calmness instantly burns away when Midnight starts the match.
Rushing forward, Kasai narrows her eyes and lights her palms and forearms on fire as Shiozaki extends her vines, spreading them. At halfway point, Kasai spins on her heel and swiftly slices at the vines with ignited hands, like scorching blades.
Clearing a path, the Todoroki wastes no time to send a torrent of flames towards the stagnant girl. Unfortunately, a wall of vines blocks the fire, protecting the girl like a shield. Clicking her tongue in annoyance, she comes to realize that this fight can come down to endurance. Thinking quick, Kasai steps back when she sees vines crawling towards her with speed.
Creating distance, the white haired girl repeats her earlier actions and swivels her arms around her, creating her disks of flaming hoops. Gritting her teeth, the Todoroki turns her body and swings her arms out - one across her body and one over her head and down. The white rings of fire follow her movements and shoot, one flying horizontally and the other vertically diagonal. They're like blades as the instantly and easily cut the vines, leaving Shiozaki with no defense.
"Now, that's one killer way to cut through things! If there's one thing Todorooki has shown in this sports festival, is that she can burn through any obstacle! However, Shiozaki isn't giving up! The vines keep on coming!"
It's true because Kasai suddenly finds herself being surrounded with a magnitude of vines. From the right, the left, in front of her, and behind her. It's pissing her off, especially when her opponent hasn't moved an inch. Still in the same stagnant pose!
"You want to play with fire?! Well, don't say I didn't warn you!" Kasai growls.
She yells when she ignites her flames and shoots them out in a fury. Taking it back to the entrance exam, Kasai creates giant waves of fire as they extend from her hands, shooting to the ground and spreading. The swarms of vines instantly catch fire and disintegrate to nothing. It's a wildfire of white hot flames, encroaching on every inch of the stage. The stage resembles as if it belongs in a scene in Hell, the perimeter bordered with waist high embers. The vines flicker with flames like matches.
Shiozaki detaches her vines quickly from her hair, not wanting the fire to reach her scalp. Kasai smirks, her hair turning to embers like always. Raising her arm, the pale girl shoots a torrent of flames and Shiozaki defends with a wall. Quickly detaching the bundle, Shiozaki hurriedly grows out her hair and shoots a large barrage of vines towards the flaming girl. The Todoroki moves to burn the plants, but they suddenly split which makes her eyes widen.
Ducking out of the way, Kasai stands up and steps back. Analyzing the situation quickly, she realizes that there's only one way to end this. This match is only going back and forward, an endurance fight. So, she doesn't have long before her body starts heating up. Gritting her teeth, sharply exhales.
Twisting her body and spinning on her heel, Kasai purposefully steps in the line of fire - no pun intended, and lets the vines coil around her outstretched hand.
"What's this! The battle of offense and defense, has it come to an end?! Shiozaki has Todoroki in her clutches!"
"Not quite," Kasai smirks.
With her free hand, the Todoroki grips on the vines coiling around her captured arm and twists her body. Simultaneously, she drops the flames bordering the stage and ignites her boots on fire. Lifting her right leg, Kasai instantly shoots a jet from the bottom of her foot and propels forward, twisting her body so she's pulling the vines over her shoulder. With the given boost, Kasai embeds her right foot into the cement, giving herself a grip, and with all her mustered strength she pulls on the vines.
Yelling, Kasai uses flames on her arms and shouts. "I was never one to pull hair in a fight, but if that's what it takes to win, then here it goes! Solar Heat: Flaming Exposuuuure!"
With a final pull, and a torrent of scorching flames, Kasai drags Shiozaki by the hair and shoots her out of the arena like a discus. All Kasai can hear is Shiozaki screaming as she's thrown out of bounds, and when she looks up, she can see the green haired girl crash into the wall of the stadium, literally. The white haired girl smirks, but the crowd gapes at the crator sized hole the throw created.
"It was decided in an instant! A quick turn of events! Todoroki Kasai threw the match in her favor, quite literally!" Present Mic yells, making the people cheer loudly.
"Shiozaki Ibara is out of bounds! Todoroki Kasai is the winner, and advances to the next round," Midnight declares with a slash of her whip.
Kasai grins at the audience, raising her fist in victory.
Just you wait, father, I'll show you who's better!
