Xander and Cordelia found themselves caught up in a vortex of some sort, twisting and turning with nothing to hold onto. And then they were landing hard on the ground next to other people. With a groan, Xander stood up and helped Cordelia to her feet.

"We have never had a rough landing before. Normally we just materialize in a new reality, standing just the way we're standing. Just because I call it jumping to a new reality, doesn't mean we actually jump. What the Hell was that vortex thing and how the Hell did we get caught up in it?"

"I don't know, Xander, but the people we landed with are staring at us." Cordelia answered.

Xander turned around and saw four people picking themselves up off the ground with groans. They were staring at them.

"This is going to be another one of those doozy things, isn't it?" Xander muttered. "That vortex kinda reminded me of the artificial wormhole a Stargate uses for travel. Except the Stargate wormhole is shades of blue and sort of silvery colors. The vortex was all pinks and purples."

"Artificial wormhole?!" A decidedly round man exclaimed. "Reality jumping? Is that what you were doing when you suddenly appeared in our vortex? Reality jumping?"

"Yep. So where have we landed this time? That's both the fun and the scary part of reality travel, you never know where you're going to end up."

"You act like you're doing in purpose." A black man said.

"Well, of course we are. Why else would you go reality jumping?" Xander asked cheerfully.

"We're sliding accidentally. We'd love to get back to our home reality, but haven't been able to manage it yet." The only girl in the group said.

"Maybe you could help us." A young man a few years older then Xander and Cordelia said. "We've lost the lock on for our home reality. Maybe you could help us figure out how to get it back."

"No, unfortunately we can't. We don't understand the technology ourselves. Our parents gave us the control device. They understood it, but we don't." Cordelia said, to the groups disappointment.

"Why would your parents let you go visiting other realities?" The round man asked.

"Well, like I told Colonel O'Neill, it's sort of a post graduation road trip through the multiverse. Our parents want us to grow up and help lots of people, before we move onto the next stage of our life."

"You're using reality travel as the equivalent of an upper class Englishman's Grand Tour of Europe?!" The round man exclaimed.

"I guess, not sure what the Grand Tour thing is referring to, but I get the idea. So what are those things around your neck?"

"Control collars. The last reality we were in was so big on the truth that they developed these things to detect lies and force people to tell the truth." The young woman told them.

"Actually that sounds better then the last world we were in. We landed in the middle of a civil war in ancient Greece. We tried to help the injured people in a healing temple, an early equivalent of a hospital." Xander told them.

"Is time contemporary with your means of travel or did you travel to the past of that world?" The round man asked.

"The past."

"Your method of travel is very different from ours. We've seen some temporal difference but not to that great a degree." The young man told them. "Anyway, I'm Quinn Mallory, I invented the timer that allows us to slide. This is Wade Wells." He indicated the young woman. "Professor Arturo and Rembrandt Brown."

"Alexander Harris, you can call me Xander and this is my girlfriend, Cordelia Chase. So where exactly have we landed and is that your timer thing there?" Xander asked, pointing at a grey thing that kind of reminded him of a tv remote.

"Oh yeah, thanks. Don't want to lose that." Quinn said and picked it up. A roar had them all looking up and then up again.

"Is that a dinosaur?" Cordelia asked.

"I think it is." Xander answered. "Either we jumped really far into the past or there was no meteor in this reality. Everyone grabbed onto me and Cordy and we'll get you out of here."

Deciding that trusting these unknown people was safer then dealing with a dinosaur, Wade and Rembrandt each put a hand on one of Cordelia's shoulders and Quinn and the Professor each put one on Xander's shoulders. Then they teleported and materialized nearer to the mountain.

"Personal transporters?!" The Professor exclaimed. "You really are advanced."

"I think there's a cave over there." Xander said, pointing. "We can catch our breath in there, provided we don't run into anymore dinosaurs in the cave. I feel like I'm in an episode of Land of the Lost."

"That Saturday morning tv show?" Quinn asked. "I used to watch it when I was a kid."

"Me too, but don't most kids go through a dinosaur obsession?"

"I know I did." Quinn agreed, as they trooped into the cave. He checked the timer. "We've got nearly a day until we can slide again."

"You have to move to a new reality at prearranged times?" Xander asked. "Bummer, we jump any time we want. I suppose we can keep you company until it's time for you to go."

"As long as dinosaurs don't try to eat us, I'm fine with that." Cordelia said.
