Welcome everyone to an OC Batwoman story where a new character shall adopt the mantle of the caped crusader. Of course Bruce Wayne is not going to be sitting idly by while this goes on. Think of this as Batman Beyond but with a more feminine touch. Anyways I hope you all enjoy the story.

Note: I don't own anything related to DC Comics or its characters

Chapter 1 - Origins

Gotham City and for almost four decades criminals were weary of one person who was something to fear. The Batman. It was well known for many years that Batman would hide in the shadows of Gotham City constantly hunting down the scum that would infect the streets like a disease. Many criminals had stories about Batman and they all ended the same way. A hospital stay then life in prison.

But as the years went by something became apparent he was getting older, slower. Eventually someone might get lucky enough to kill him.

Like tonight.

On the outskirts of Gotham in an old hangerbay a group of criminals were hidden away one of them was busy counting cash that was inside a briefcase. Money received from a family who had just paid a ransom for the safe return of their daughter.

The thug counting the cash looked at the tv that was running the news story smiling. "Hey look. You're on TV."

The unfortunate girl looked down knowing that she isn't going to be freed despite her family paying the ransom. But someone was coming for her. A thug patrolling outside thought he heard something so he went to check it out. Unfortunately for him he was struck on the back of the neck causing him to collapse leaving him unconscious. Batman had arrived. Knowing there were four more inside he decided to go in from the roof.

Meanwhile the thug who was counting the ransom money finished closing the briefcase. "It's all here."

"What about the girl?"

"Kill her."

The thug smiled, pulling out a handgun aiming it at the poor girl who started to shake but before he could pull the trigger Batman burst from the skyline. When he landed he quickly grabbed the gun wielding thug and tossed him over his shoulder sending him flying into the table causing the cash to go flying. Batman was quick to kick another thug across the face before tossing a third over head and into an old plane that was stored in the hanger.

Batman let out a sigh before suddenly clutching his chest in pain groaning but still walked towards the kidnapped girl kneeling down to untie her. "Are you alright?"

The girl let out a muffled warning and Batman turned around to see a thug with his gun aimed right at him but Batman quickly disarmed him and kicked him away. Batman went to finally put him down but suddenly grabbed his chest again only this time the pain was agonizing.

The thug smiled, picking up a crowbar. "You know when I was a kid they'd tell stories about how the big bad Batman would make things difficult for guys like me."

He then started to beat Batman with the crowbar knocking around the masked vigilante as he smiled. Batman believed he might finally die but saw a way out as the thug came to give one more swing, Batman pulled the gun up and aimed it right at him, freaking the criminal out.

"No! Please! Don't!" The thug ran, only to run outside to be caught by the police.

Batman left through another door on the far side of the hanger his breathing was heavy and he could taste blood. He pulled off the cowl revealing the face of Billionaire Bruce Wayne who looked at the gun he was holding as his hand shook. Bruce dropped the firearm and walked off into the night.

Batcave

Bruce had removed his suit placing it into a glass display case, closing it for the last time as he stalked up the staircase turning around once he reached the top.

"Never again."

With those final words the Batman was gone as Bruce Wayne shut down the Batcave as the lights went dark for good.

20 YEARS LATER

It's been twenty years since the last sighting of The Batman as he's now become nothing more than an urban legend. Many don't even believe he was even excited at all to begin with. Of course without him crime runs rampant throughout the city streets of Gotham City. Many different gangs were formed, one of the most prominent was of course The Jokers, named after the most infamous criminal in Gotham's history. The police do what they can but without a symbol to strike fear into criminals hearts it's not that easy.

Many were scared of them but Jessica Clarke wasn't one of them. Jessica stood at around five foot nine, had a slim athletic build, and long scarlet red hair. She actually thought they were pretty lame if she was honest. Then again being a sixteen year old highschool student who lost her dad due to the gangs she thinks less of a lot of things.

But right now she was too preoccupied to notice anything around her on the subway car she was in. Until it made a stop and a 'Joker' boarded and of course started trouble, mainly spray painting the window of the car.

The Joker turned around looking at the rest of the passengers. "Thank you. Thank you." He looked at the passengers who all looked away until he sat next to a random lady. "Aww what's the matter? Why not turn that frown upside down."

"Please..leave me alone.."

"Aww I saw a smile. Yes I did. Yes I did." The Joker laughed.

Jessica frowned as she finally had it walking over and grabbing the Joker by the shoulder. "Back off smiley."

When the Joker turned around he started laughing. "Didn't find my joke funny?" He stood up right in Jessica's face.

"Not even close." The red head punched the Joker across the jaw which made him stumble back.

The Joker smiled. "Oh you're a feisty one. I like that."

The scarlet redhead cringed at the thought but she was able to avoid one of the Joker's little party tricks in the form of clacking teeth. She leapt off the seats grabbing a nearby pole swinging herself around kicking the Joker against the wall.

The Joker grinned, getting up as he showed some karate stances. "Whaa! Yaa!" He then just stuck his tongue out as the doors opened and he ran laughing.

Jessica shook her head annoyed. "Jokers."

Jessica got off the train and headed topside walking down the streets of Gotham heading to school for another day in class. She passed by some classmates of hers before meeting up with some of her friends.

"Hey." Jessica waved at her two friends Dana and Samantha.

Dana was a girl with light skin, a slime figure and long dark hair. "Jess, did you finish the assignment for fifth?"

Samantha or Sam as her friends call her was a girl with dark skin, medium length blonde hair and an average figure looked at her friends. "There was an assignment?"

Dana looked at her. "Sam seriously?"

Samantha just laughed. "I'm kidding guys, of course I got it done."

Jessica rolled her eyes. "I'll never understand why we do these stupid assignments."

Samantha looked at Jessica raising an eyebrow. "Sheesh Jess, did you wake up late this morning?"

Jessica shook her head. "No. Just had a run in with a Joker on the way here."

Dana looked at her. "Jess, please tell me you didn't cause any trouble."

She looked at Dana. "Of course not. I learned my lesson after what happened with Marcus."

Samantha looked at her with worry. "Jess..you didn't make Marcus join the Jokers."

"Yet he joined up with them after I broke up with him thinking it would convince me to get back with him." Jessica started walking up the stairs to head into school.

Dana walked beside her. "Marcus was an idiot thinking it would work."

Samantha walked on Jessica's other side. "It's kinda sad. He had a bright future with the hokey team. But then again he wasn't very bright."

Jessica sighed. "Okay can we stop talking about my failed love life."

Samantha chuckled. "Failed is an understatement."

Dana looked at her. "Sam. Not cool."

"Look, let's forget all this nonsense. Tonight we're all going out and have some fun." Samantha had stepped in front of them.

Jessica raised a brow. "Seriously?"

Samantha looked at her. "Come on Jess. A night of fun out with a few friends. Might even meet someone?"

Jessica rolled her eyes but Dana nudged her. "Maybe it's not such a bad idea. Besides, it has been awhile since we all hung out together anyway."

Letting out a sigh Jessica looked at her friends. "Fine. We'll meet up tonight."

Dana smiled. "Great. See you guys later. I have to get to class."

Samantha looked at her watch. "Same. See you two tonight."

Jessica watched her two friends leave her alone with her thoughts. "Yeah. See ya."

Jessica walked to her class, her mind drifting back to the time when she dated Marcus Williams, a guy who she met freshman year. He was a member of the Gotham City High School hockey team, hell he was one of the best on the team. Of course it wasn't a perfect relationship and in Sophomore year she broke up with him. He didn't take it well. Despite the fact she made it clear it was over Marcus ended up becoming a Joker and thought he could convince Jessica to be with him again. Only thing he got was a broken nose and a broken heart.

So Jessica moved on and hasn't ran into him in awhile but has run into some of his new "friends" over the last two years. She may never understand how or why but maybe it's his way of trying to get to her somehow. Or she's just being paranoid.

Either way she's got better things to do than just dwell on the past because she's got a party to go to tonight.

After school let out Jessica went home she took a nice hot shower and put on some nice clothes like a good pair of jeans. She hates skirts.

Jessica came down stairs from her room. "Hey Dad! I'm heading out!" She walked into the living room only to find nobody was there. "Dad?" Jessica walked over to the coffee table and picked up a note. "Dear Jess..I am going to a meeting in the office. Don't wait up. Love Dad. Thanks for telling me dad." Jess tossed the note onto the couch and headed out, turning off the lights as she closed the door.

Downtown Gotham City

Jessica had arrived at the downtown Gotham nightclub hoping to see Dana and Samantha in the crowd so she doesn't feel like she wasted her time.

Thankfully she found them and started to walk over. "Dana! Sam!"

The two girls looked over seeing Jessica walking over as Dana smiled. "Hey. Didn't think you'd show?"

Samantha crossed her arms. "Yeah. Besides, you never seemed like the party type."

Jessica looked at her two friends. "I figured I'd let loose for a night."

Before they could start their night a old friend made his appearance as a nice Chevrolet Camaro pulled up skidding to a stop.

Jessica knew who it could be. "Oh great. Nelson's here."

Dana crossed her arms. "One night I should've stayed home."

Nelson stepped out of his car wearing a jacket that showed he's from the same school as Jessica, Dana and Samantha. "The party has finally arrived."

Jessica rolled her eyes. "More like finally ended."

Samantha groaned. "Great."

Nelson opened the passenger side door and a beautiful blonde headed girl stepped out.

Jessica raised a brow. "Who's she?"

Dana shook her head. "I don't recognize her."

Samantha scoffed. "That's Madison. She's new in town. The only reason I know is because my dad works for hers."

Jessica shook her head. "Forget it. Come on, let's just go in and try to have some fun."

Unfortunately that was scrapped as they heard the sound of motorcycles blaring came fast as they also heard laughing.

Samantha backed up. "Uh oh. Trouble is coming."

The girls looked to see a group of Jokers coming and as soon as they did they started circling Nelson and his date while laughing.

Nelson didn't find it so funny. "Hey! Knock it off!"

One of the Joker's laughed. "Or what? You gonna make me?" They came back around and knocked Nelson over with a bat while laughing.

A Joker drove up taking Nelson's date Madison and drifted to a stop. "Why so glum? Chum? Tickle, tickle, tickle." He started tickling her just to make her laugh.

"No. Stop." Madison tried to get away but struggled to.

Jessica had it with these losers and ran over grabbing the Joker by the shoulder. "Back off bozo!" Jessica punched the Joker across the jaw knocking him over and freeing Madison.

This didn't exactly make Jessica the Joker's biggest fans as one of them rode his bike towards her so Jessica ran leaping over a car's hood kicking another Joker off her bike. Jessica picked the bat she dropped and used it to knock the Joker chasing her off his bike and into the parked car. She then ran grabbing a street lamp post swinging around kicking the Joker across the jaw.

Before anything else could happen more Joker's started coming so Dana pointed to one of the bikes. "Get out of here!"

Jessica ran to the bike quickly revving the engine and driving away forcing the Joker's to chase after her. Jessica put on a helmet that was on the bike so she didn't have to worry that much about her safety for the moment at least. She drove down the highway seeing the Joker's were hot on her tail so she made a quick turn ramping off the edge of the highway. Jessica managed to land on a bridge just below before skidding to a stop looking up to see the Joker's looking down at her. Jessica knew she couldn't just wait around so she started heading east unfortunately the Joker's found her and followed.

Jessica rode down an old road outside of Gotham and before she knew it she saw an old man standing in the middle of the road. "Ah!" She swerved right and ended up crashing slowly standing up as the Joker's soon caught up to her.

"Ah..the little girl had an accident."

One of them pulled out a switchblade. "Let's put a smile on her face."

Before anyone else could move the old man walked over. "Leave her alone. And get off my property. You're trespassing."

The lead Joker walked up to him. "Who do you think you're talking to old man?" He grabbed the old man's collar. "We're The Joker's."

The old man just smiled nodding slightly. "Sure you are." He suddenly smacked the Joker across the face with his cane, then jabbed him in the stomach before knocking him back.

Jessica ran over to help the old guy fight as one of the Joker's swung a chain around. "Split their sides!"

Jessica ran up leaping up kicking the Joker off the bike while the old man moved aside using his cane to smack one off her bike. Jessica ducked a punch before landing two across a Joker's jaw before throwing her over her shoulder. The old man would smack a Joker across the face with his cane knocking them over their bike.

The Joker's seemingly having enough of getting knocked around decided to split. "Let's ride!" With that they took off on their bikes.

Jessica walked over to the old man. "Thanks for the help." She soon saw the man almost collapse so she ran over to check on him. "Hey are you okay?"

"My medicine.." He pulled out a remote from his coat pocket. "Inside the house.." Jessica helped the man along until a large black lab started barking at her. "Ace!" The dog stopped. "She's alright.." as they went along he looked at her. "My name's Bruce.."

Jessica looked at him. "I'm Jessica."

Wayne Manor

Before too long Jessica had helped Bruce into his home and into a recliner before leaving to find his medication. She didn't have to search long, finding it right where he said it was.

Jessica walked over to Bruce holding both his medication and a glass of water handing each to him. "They were right where you said. I guess you're gonna rest now huh?" She didn't hear him say anything. "Well I should probably get going. Have a good night." Jessica walked away heading towards the front door opening it only to be met by a very angry and very vocal dog so she quickly closed the door. "On second thought I'll just call my dad."

Jessica walked over to a phone and before she could even start dialing she heard something coming from an old grandfather clock.

She walked over to it and saw something weird. "A bat?" A bat was trapped so Jessica started to try prying the clock open. "I'll get you out of there just don't bite me okay?" Jessica finally opened the grandfather clock but not the way she expected as the clock itself moved into the wall revealing a stairway. "What the?" Jessica looked back to see Bruce sleeping so she walked through the doorway and down the stairway, running her hand along the wall until she felt what appeared to be a lightswitch so she flipped the switch turning on lights that revealed a great secret. "Woah.."

Jessica walked down the rest of the stairs looking around until she suddenly bumped into something causing the lights to switch on revealing The Batman's suit.

Before she could even think of touching it she was struck in the back of the head knocking her down and when she looked to see who ambushed her seeing Bruce. "Get out." He raised his cane. "Get out!" Bats suddenly flew by.

Bruce had escorted Jessica out of his home and past the gates.

"Okay okay. I'm going." Jessica walked away but did look back. "Freak."

Jessica's House

Later Jessica returned home and when she did she heard the phone so she answered it. "Hello?"

"Jess. I need your help." The voice on the other line was Samantha.

"Sam? What's wrong?"

"Look I can't say. Meet me tomorrow after school."

"Sam just slow down. What's so important you can't tell me now?"

"Just trust me." Samantha just hung up.

Jessica was now getting freaked out. First she finds out that Batman was real and now her best friend is acting weird. "What is going on?"

Gotham City High School

By the time school ended Jessica had been looking for Samantha all day but nobody seemed to know where she was.

Jessica stood at the school entrance looking around. "Oh Sam..where are you?" When she looked off to the side she saw Samantha and ran over. "Sam are you okay?"

Samantha pulled Jessica behind a wall. "Shh!" Samantha looked around and by the looks of it she was terrified. "I got to make this quick." Samantha pulled a small disk from her pocket. "I found this on my dad's computer. I don't know what's on it but whatever it is my dad has been freaking out. I'm scared he's gotten into something bad. Really bad."

"What does that have to do with me?" Jessica was still confused about why Samantha was telling her this.

"I need someone I can trust to find out what's on this disk. Please Jess. My dad's life might be in danger." Samantha looked at Jessica practically pleading with her.

Jessica didn't like the feeling she got but took the disk. "I think I know someone who can help. In the meantime you may want to stay somewhere safe. Call Dana and see if you can crash at her place for a few days."

Samantha let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks Jess. I knew I could count on you." With that Samantha left Jessica alone with the disk.

Jessica looked at the disk. "Sure Sam. However, I can help." Jessica pulled out her cell phone and called Dana. "Hey Dana. Listen, I need a ride. Something important just came up. Something really important." Jessica put the disk in her jacket pocket.

Jessica didn't have to wait long for Dana to pull up to the entrance with her car rolling down the passenger side window. "What's so important?"

Jessica just got into the car. "I'll explain on the way."

So she did explain but left out anything that had to do with Samantha because whatever she's gotten into Jessica doesn't want Dana involved any deeper than she already is. Dana drove out to the outskirts of the city exactly where Jessica was chased by the Joker's earlier. To Old Wayne Manor.

Once there Jessica got out of Dana's car. "Just head up this road and it'll take you back up to the highway." Jessica turned looking at the manor. "There's someone I need to see." A storm was starting to pick up if the sudden clash of thunder was anything to go by.

Dana looked at Jessica obviously concerned. "Are you crazy I can't leave you out here."

Jessica looked back at Dana smiling. "Of course you can. You better get out of here before the storm hits." Jessica closed the car door watching it drive off before running to the gate. "Hello!? Mr. Wayne?!" Jessica tried buzzing in hoping he heard her. "Listen I know you probably don't want me here but I need your help! My friend is in some serious trouble and I think it may cost her and her old man their lives!" Jessica pulled out the disk from her pocket. "I think it has something to do with this! I don't know what's on it but I thought maybe you could take a look at it!" She stood there but heard nothing which meant she wasn't gonna receive any help so she sighed. "Yeah I figured. You're no Batman you wacked out old fraud!" Jessica started to walk away until she heard the gates open which made her smile so she turned around and walked through the gates to meet her old friend who started growling at her. "Easy pup. It's just me."

Meanwhile up in the manor Bruce was looking down at her until he heard her knock on the door which he answered. "Let me see that disk." He took it from Jessica when she handed it over. "Follow me."

Bat Cave

Bruce walked down the stairs leading Jessica down back into that cave she found before and over to a large supercomputer before sitting down in the chair putting the disk in. "Computer analyze data." The computer opened up the information on the disk seeing an abundance of names and dates. "It's some kind of data file containing names of Gotham's oldest and most influential families. Some kind of secretive society of some kind." Bruce ejected the disk before he turned in his chair looking over at Jessica who had opened one of the display cases. "Don't touch that."

Jessica had been looking at the last suit that was created. "Synaptic controls, neuromuscular amplification, flight capability. Humph. This thing might be old, but it's still cutting-edge. Bet it amplifies your strength by at least 10 to 1. At least."

Bruce glared at her. "I told you not to touch it."

Jessica looked at him confused. "But aren't you going to do something?"

"No."

Jessica was dumbstruck. "What? My friends life is in danger and so is her dads someone could be going after them and they need help. You gotta do something. You're Batman."

Bruce groaned. "I was Batman." He handed her the disk. "Give this to commissioner Barbra Gordon. She should be able to help you."

Jessica was even more dumbstruck. "What? The cops won't be able to do anything without someone getting hurt or worse."

"Do it."

Jessica took the disk. "Something happened to you, didn't it and it wasn't that you got too old." Jessica walked away before looking back seeing Bruce close the display case on the suit. "I have got to get me one of those." With that Jessica left Wayne Manor behind her.

Jessica's House

The next day she was at home on her computer looking at the disk herself trying to find out who could be responsible for creating this gas in the first place. Finally having enough of it she ejected the disk and decided maybe it is better to just give it to the cops. Jessica put the disk in her jacket pocket left for the police station. Unknown to her someone was watching her and following close behind too.

Downtown Gotham City

She walked down the street before turning the corner only for whoever was following her to make their move.

She ended up bumping into someone. "Sorry."

"Watch it punk." The guy sounded cranky as they walked away.

Jessica rolled her eyes before feeling her pocket realizing the disk was gone so she turned to look at the jerk who just robbed her. "Hey!" When they started to run Jessica quickly gave chase. "Hold it!"

The scarlet redhead ran down the streets chasing after the mysterious stranger as they leapt over a guardrail like it was nothing. Jessica managed the same but it wasn't until she managed to finally catch up with her thief and tackled them through the door of an old run down building. The two crashed into the lobby and through a glass rail before landing painfully on a desk below.

Jessica groaned as she slowly pulled herself up shaking out the cobwebs. "Ow..note to self..never do that again." She got up and saw her thief wasn't moving so she walked over and took the disk back. "Gotcha." She was about to walk away until something grabbed her shoulder and when she turned around it was her thief. "What the-?" She was cut off as the thief punched her across the jaw with a right then left cross knocking her down.

Jessica rubbed her jaw looking seeing her mysterious thief lose their trench coat revealing a get up that made them look like an owl. "Woah." Suddenly a throwing knife went past her cheek. "Oh boy!" Jessica was quick to grab a chair using it to block a pair of throwing knives. Jessica rolled out of the way when this owl tried to lunge at her and when she did she smashed the chair over its back. Not wanting to stick around she grabbed the disk and ran hoping to get to the exit only to have her feet tied together causing her to fall over.

She looked back to see the owl dragging her back despite Jessica's struggles to free herself she did grab one of the throwing knives and used it to cut her feet loose. Once she was freed she tossed the knife at the owl only for it to be caught and in its fingers. Jessica tried to run but was caught by the owl and was lifted off the ground and tossed through the wall.

Jessica realized she lost the disk. "Oh no." But before she could even think of going back a throwing knife just missed her head so she ran.

The owl was ready to pursue until it heard someone. "No." The owl turned around as more of him appeared, one picking up the disk. "We have what we came for."

They soon disappeared while Jessica watched from the shadows. "So have I." She backed up into the shadows.

Wayne Manor

Bruce had been watching the news until he heard his dog barking angrily so he stood up out of his chair. "Ace?" Bruce walked to the window overlooking the gate outside his manor seeing his dog tied to the gate so he tossed a batarang at the rope freeing his dog that quickly ran to the manor.

Bruce opened the door allowing his dog to come inside as it sniffed around the house until it started barking at the grandfather clock. Bruce realized something was wrong so he opened the way into the cave.

Bat Cave

Bruce walked down the stairs switching on the lights following behind Ace until he stopped at the display case and saw one of his suits was missing. Bruce knew only one person was responsible for stealing the suit.

Downtown Gotham

Jessica had indeed stolen the Bat Suit and was using it to search the city for her mysterious owl friends in hopes of finally finding who's behind the nerve gas.

She ended up crashing into the side of a building but managed to hang onto the side pulling herself up. "Woah. Talk about high stakes." She walked along the building's side, looked around and finally found her owl thief head inside a skyscraper. "Gotcha." She extended out her wings and glided down landing on the side of the building they just went into.

Peaking through the window she saw a whole group of them except one of them was wearing a white suit. She couldn't tell if they were speaking but from the body language they were so she placed two fingers on the window using the suits shotgun mics to listen in.

"With the disk back in our possession The Court Of Owls will remain hidden as it has always been. We work best in secrecy, which is exactly what we need in order to eliminate our most recent problems. The girl's father for example." Jessica knew they were talking about Samantha. "Unfortunately we have a new problem to deal with." She saw the leader from her guess look over at the same person who attacked her earlier. "Talon, you were supposed to make sure nobody found out our plans. I'm trusting you to deal with it and do it right. Then we'll meet at city hall and deal with an old friend."

"Yes. I swear I will end this nuisance's life. I know who her father is as well."

Jessica clenched her fist in anger until someone caught her attention. "It's a little early for halloween." When Jessica looked it appeared to be the building's guards.

She looked back, seeing only one way out. "But just in time for fall." Jessica fell backwards, extending her wings and gliding through the air as the guards tried to shoot her down.

Jessica glided through the air trying her best not to let her nerves get the best of her at the moment before she landed on the ground in front of another building. Unfortunately when she looked back she saw those guards had followed her. So she ran inside in hopes of hiding from the guards and when she got inside she used her jet boosters to climb onto the catwalks.

She looked down seeing the guards scattering to search for her until she heard a new voice. "Clarke!"

Jessica looked around whispering. "Who's there?"

"It's Wayne."

"Mr Wayne? How are you?" Jessica was confused as to how he was talking to her.

"There's a radio receiver in your cowl. Now listen to me Clarke I want that suit back and I want it now."

Jessica looked down seeing the guards making it difficult for her to really go anywhere. "Uh..I'm a little busy right now.."

"That suit is not yours. You had no right!"

"Somebody had to do something, and you sure weren't about to."

"I'm warning you."

"She's up there!" The guards had found Jessica and started shooting which forced her to jump off the catwalk landing on the ground before she pulled out a batarang and tossed it, knocking the weapons from two of the guards that had cornered her. When they looked up at her Jessica had leapt up split kicking them in the face.

"Over there!" The other guards ran over and started shooting, forcing Jessica to hide behind any form of cover she could.

"This is your last chance. Better take it."

"No, thanks." Jessica avoided some gun fire. "Having too much fun."

"Fun, huh?"

Jessica was caught by another guard so Jessica kicked the gun out of his hands before punching him in the stomach and then across the jaw. She then tossed the guard across the storage floor and into a group of his friends.

She would've continued but she suddenly couldn't move. "Hey...I can't move. What'd you do?"

"It's a fail-safe device-paralyzes the suit in case the wrong person gets into it."

Jessica struggled to move. "You can't.."

"I just did."

When she didn't hear Wayne she started to panic. "Hey..hey!"

The guards soon found her and now it was their turn and they did not pull any punches just because she's a girl. She was getting punched, kicked and tossed around the floor and each guard was taking a turn in doing it. Meanwhile Wayne was just listening to the whole thing while Jessica was still getting the hell beaten out of her by these guards.

One of the guards walked over with a gun. "Move over." He then aimed it at Jessica. "Say goodnight..Batwoman."

Jessica was afraid now. "Wayne..they're gonna kill me.." She waited for the gun shot but it was then she got full control back. "Sweet!" She shot out a batarang from her wrist knocking the gun out of the guards hands before leaping up and spinning in a circle kicking all three of them. She grabbed the last guard and tossed him into the wall before she launched herself up onto some storage containers as more guards appeared. "Great.."

"I gave you a break Clarke. Now bring back that suit."

"Love too..but I got these guards all over me." Jessica looked down onto the ground floor as those guards found their friends. "Got any suggestions?"

She didn't hear from Wayne for a few moments but he came back over the radio. "There's a broom closet on the north wall. Can you get to it?"

Jessica looked at the north wall before leaping down onto the floor quickly running for the closet on the north wall just like he said running through the door closing it behind her. "Okay now what?"

"The far wall. Put your hand on it and press hard."

Jessica pressed as hard as possible against the wall causing it to swivel into a secret entryway as she heard the guards blow down the door. "Cool."

"I built that building."

"You also have a good relationship with the Commissioner and can warn her about an attack on City Hall. While giving me the quickest route to get there."

"Forget it. You're coming back here."

"Look, the Court Of Owls are going to City Hall and people are going to be killed."

"I'll call the police. Let them handle it."

"But I can do it!"

"I'll shut down the suit again, and this time, it'll be for good."

Jessica's voice grew soft and sympathetic. "I read up on you, Mr. Wayne. I know how

you lost your folks. I lost my mom when I was a kid too and I could lose my dad. Now my friend and her dad's life are in danger..and I am the only one who can do something about it. This is my one chance to do the right thing." Jessica sighed as she leaned against a railing not believing he was willing to help.

"If you head north east you can be at city hall within fifteen minutes."

Jessica smiled as she leaped over the railing. "Wish me luck.." Jessica ran down the entryway hoping to head off the attack.

Bat Cave

Bruce lowered his head knowing she could do it. "Good luck.."

Gotham City Hall

Samantha's father Thomas Willson had started walking up the steps of city hall and he looked like he had seen a ghost or at the least was spooked by something.

Thomas walked up to the receptionist wiping his forehead. "I'm here for an appointment."

"Of course sir. Go on in."

Thomas walked inside the Mayor's office. "Gregory. We have a problem. A big one."

The Mayor Gregory Samuel stood up. "Thomas, I understand you are worried. But I assure you my inside man has wiped us from the Courts records. There is no way they know anything about you or your family. Especially when I can blow the whistle on them if they even think of hurting anyone close to us."

Thomas slammed his hands down on Mayor Gregory's desk. "My daughter is in danger!" After a moment he let out a sigh. "I understand you think we have something over them but you know for a fact they will not hesitate to kill anyone that they deem a obstacle."

"Which is why you must trust me." Mayor Gregory stood up and walked over to the window hands behind his back. "The court put me in power. Now I can use it against them."

Thomas just glared at him. "They have the disk."

Mayor Gregory turned around. "So do I." He walked over to his desk and opened a drawer revealing a copy. "I always was paranoid."

Outside The Mayor's Office

Jessica had been watching and soon she saw him. "Talon." She saw him move to the edge of a building that sat across from the mayor's office.

Talon had prepared a grapple and fired it latching onto City Hall and started to zip line over to the window but before he even got there Jessica came flying in behind him tackling him.

Mayor's Office

"I don't care about your possibilities Gregory! My daughter has been put in the crossfire!" Thomas shouted in rage.

"So is mine." Gregory said in a cold tone.

Suddenly Jessica and Talon came crashing in through the window scaring the hell out of both Thomas and Gregory. "What the hell?!"

Talon kicked Jessica off of him before jumping to his feet looking over at Thomas and Gregory revealing at least two throwing knives. Talon would throw them at both men but Jessica managed to cut them off with a batarang. Which she chalked up to the suit. Jessica leapt over the desk but Talon caught her tossing the newly suited hero into the wall. Thomas grabbed a nearby vase and smashed it over Talon's head but it didn't seem to affect him but it did make him the next target.

Talon would reveal a blade coming from his gauntlet. "For the court."

Before he could strike Jessica would kick Talon away before delivering a series of punches to both Talon's jaw and stomach. Talon would swipe at Jessica with his blade but Jessica luckily avoided it before getting punched in the jaw then kicked across the face.

Suddenly a clicking sound caught their attention and they saw the Mayor holding a handgun. "I was paranoid."

He started to shoot at Talon but the owl dodged the bullets and Jessica quickly took cover as did Thomas hoping to avoid the gun fire. Talon would toss a throwing knife which knocked the gun out of his hand before tossing another one at Thomas but Jessica tackled her friend's father over. Jessica got up and used her jet boots to launch herself into Talon tackling him into the wall but before she could strike Talon headbutted her. Talon kicked Jessica back, slashing her across the chest making her grunt in pain. Before he threw another knife managing to hit Mayor Gregory in the thigh. Jessica held her chest but it was only the suit that was damaged but Jessica caught Talon's leg smirking. She would toss Talon across the room and into the wall with a loud crash.

She looked over at Mayor Gregory and Thomas. "Get out of here! Now!"

Thomas grabbed Gregory. "Come on!" He helped his friend up and they made a break for the exit.

Jessica looked at Talon as it was just them. "Who are you?"

"I could ask you the same." Talon stood up, cracking his neck. "I heard The Batman was all but a rumor. Yet here is a Batman wannabe."

"I'm The Batwoman and I'm taking you in." Jessica glared at Talon.

Talon revealed a second blade on his other gauntlet. "Shall we."

"Let's." Jessica got into a ready stance.

The two charged each other and now it was a fight and the two were looking to win as Jessica dodged Talon's blades and landed a punch across his jaw. Talon ducked another punch kicking Jessica in the side and slashing at her again. Jessica caught one of Talon's arms and managed to snap the blade but got a knee to the gut and a punch to the jaw in return. Talon backhanded Jessica then punched her in the jaw before kneeing her in the face. Talon would grab Jessica and slam her through the desk breaking it in half. Jessica groaned as she slowly looked at Talon who held up his hand unsheathing a pair of fingered claws.

She was done for until the doors suddenly burst open revealing the Police Commissioner Barbra Gordon and the GCPD. "Freeze! Put your hands up!"

Talon was distracted long enough allowing Jessica to tie up Talon's leg, attaching it to a grapple line and firing it out the destroyed window. Suddenly the assassin was yanked out of the office and disappeared from sight. Jessica quickly stood up and ran over to the window as did Gordon and when the two looked over the edge but Talon was gone.

Gordon was confused. "He's gone."

Jessica knew better. "He'll be back."

Gordon looked back at her men. "Search the entire block." When her men were gone she looked at Jessica.

She looked at her. "Are you going to arrest me?"

Gordon started walking away. "My men might. You may want to get out of here-." She had turned back around only to see Jessica was gone. "Something's will never change."

The Next Day At Jessica's House

Jessica had crashed from the night before and was laying in her bed when her door creaked open. "Jess. Jess get up, we have company."

Jessica was groggy when she finally woke up confused. "Company..?"

"Yes, now hurry and get dressed." Jessica's father walked out of her room.

Jessica got out of her bed yawning and stretching out before throwing on some clothes and walked out of her room into the living room seeing Bruce Wayne.

"Sorry if it's not how you'd like it. We ran out of cream. I hope milk is okay." Jessica's father William handed someone a mug of coffee.

"I prefer it." Bruce looked over at her. "Ah Jessica. I hope I'm not intruding."

Jessica shrugged. "No, I don't mind."

Bruce placed the mug down on the table. "I owe your daughter my life Mr. Clarke. She defended me from some hooligans once. I tried to reward her but she absolutely refused."

William looked at Jessica. "Mr Wayne wants to offer you a job."

Jessica was curious now. "A job?"

"It's not much. I find that in my old age I could use a hired hand. A gofer. Go for this, go for that. An ally as it were. I won't lie, I am a difficult task master." Bruce smiled. "If she's interested."

William smiled happy to see his daughter getting the chance to have some responsibility. "Of course she is." He looked at her. "Aren't you Jess?"

Jessica smiled having an idea of what Bruce is saying. "Yeah. I can handle it."

Bruce stood up. "Very well Ms. Clarke. Welcome to my world." He extended his hand.

Jessica smiled, shaking his hand accepting the job and now she has become a new symbol for Gotham City.
