Beginning A/N: I just want to start off by saying that I went to see Godzilla Minus One on Friday, which was on the week before Christmas, and I gotta say… IT WAS A CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE! Toho sure knew what they were doing! And I do have a story on the backburner that was inspired by a combination of Godzlla Minus One and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong movie that will be airing in 2024. For now, I hope this oneshot can tide you over. So, let's get started, shall we?

A Dragon Awakens!
At the age of twenty-six-years, Ryuko Tatsuma, otherwise known as the Dragon Hero: Ryukyu, is a fair-skinned young woman of average height in the prime of her life and already the Number Ten ranked hero in all of Japan. When her quirk isn't in use she has chin-length blonde hair which she keeps swept back with a headband, and a long fringe over the right side of her face, covering her eye. She has thin, yellow, inward-tilting eyes with vertical slit pupils and notably sharp teeth. These aspects are a result of her quirk, which is fittingly, and obviously, named Dragon. I think you can tell what it does by the name alone.
Her hero costume consists of a dark red, traditional qipao with a pale green scale trim around her shoulders, which seem to only be slit on the left side, with yellow claw patterns on the bottom and smaller ones around her neck. She wears knee-high boots and a strap around her exposed thigh. She wears long, almost sleeve-like, white gloves that nearly reach her shoulders, with higher tabs on the outer sides, and they expose her hands from the wrist down. She wears a matching green headband with four large, pale purple claws attached, covering the right side of her face, and a set of small black dragon wings protrude from the back of her head with a number of gold spiked cartilage piercings decorating her left ear.
With her quirk activated, like it is now, however, she takes on the form of a large, western style dragon with pale grey scales and large wings. However, she retains her same skintone, eyes, and hair. Her costume also grows and shifts to adjust to her new body, remaining visible, with the exception of her boots and the claws that were on her face, which have shifted over to her right hand.
She was currently flying through the skies of Japan, specifically the Musutafu province, patrolling for villains and people in need of help. All Might had called her and asked for her help in patrolling and subduing villains as needed since several heroes ended up catching a bug that has been going around recently and had to call in sick. The Dragon Hero was more than happy to help.
She had sent some of her sidekicks and her intern, Nejire, to keep an eye out on the ground while she scouted things out from the air. And lord help those who caused any harm to her precious sidekicks and intern, because they would feel the dragon's wrath!
What can she say? It's the one downside to her Dragon Quirk. She started amassing a horde of her own. Not simply of treasures, but her treasured people as well.
"Everything seems quiet so far…" she mumbled to herself.
But that's when she spotted something. In an alley, a kid was being attacked by some villain with a body made of sludge! Growling as she witnessed the villain forcing his body down the poor child's throat, she tucked in her wings and dive bombed the villain! Fortunately, he was too busy trying to turn the boy, now that she was close enough to tell, into a literal skinsuit that he failed to notice her coming until it was too late.
With a swipe of her claws, she swatted the villain's eyes right out of his body which caused it to break apart as his hold on the child broke. As Ryukyu landed with a thud between the boy and the villain who began to reform, the boy violently threw up the sludge that had been flooding his lungs.
"You're going to pay for your crimes, villain!" snarled Ryukyu.
"Damn it! Just a few more seconds and I'd have been home free!" said the villain.
As the child, a boy who looked about fourteen years old with fluffy green hair, freckles, and equally green eyes, puked out the last of the sludge, he entered a coughing fit due to a strange sensation welling up in his throat.
"Kid, stay behind me! You're safe now!" Ryukyu said.
But the Sludge Villain just cackled and said, "And what can you do? A pathetic gecko like you can't keep me from getting past! I'll just slip right through your claws!"
The dragon hero growled in response. She hated to admit it, but she knew he was right. She knew that his eyes were his weak point since he fell to pieces when she hit one of them on her descent, but with how his body moves like water it would be near-impossible to get a clean hit before he got past her. But that didn't mean she was going to let him go without a fight.
She flexed her claws and said, "If you want to get to the kid, you'll have to get past me to do it. So, are you willing to put your ill-gotten money where your mouth is?".
The villain was about to make a move, but he was distracted by a high-pitched whirring sound slowly getting louder and louder. It sounded almost like a stealth bomber going in for the kill. Ryukyu was also wondering what was making that noise, but she didn't dare drop her guard. But that's when she heard a violent cough from the boy behind her before a blast of purplish-blue, almost indigo, colored plasma shot right past her and hit the Sludge Villain, exploding with all the force of an artillery shell!
When the smoke cleared, the Sludge Villain was revealed to be knocked out cold as his eyes had cartoonishly changed into 'X' shapes. Sighing in relief that the villain was taken down, Ryukyu reverted back to human form and quickly used a discarded soda bottle as an improvised trap to contain the villain so she could get him to the police where he could be placed into a proper holding cell.
"Hey, kid… are you okay?" she asked as she turned around.
The boy in question was looking on in shock as a small plume of smoke billowed from his mouth, which was glowing the same hue as the plasma blast that she had just witnessed. Ryukyu started to worry since the lad looked as though he was about to have a panic attack. But before she could ask if he was okay, something unexpected happened.
In a burst of fire, the boy had changed from an ordinary human into something else entirely! Ryukyu was certain that it was a dragon, but it wasn't like any kind of dragon she's ever seen before.
The dragon is medium-sized and has a sleek, aerodynamic body that is clearly built for high-speed flight, and most of its body is covered in green scales. However, it has beige scales surrounding its mouth with a thin streak going up its face and running down from its lower jaw to the tip of its tail, and on its feet up to just below the elbows. It somewhat resembles an axolotl, gecko, and black panther in general appearance and has a large pair of wings like those of a bat, two pairs of tailfins; one at the base of the tail and the other at the tip, though Ryukyu is unsure what they are for, and four mobile ear-like appendages at the back of its head. Much like the boy's own eyes, this dragon has large, green, cat-like eyes, and it also has a mouth full of sharp teeth. Unlike how most dragons are depicted, this dragon doesn't seem to have horns of any sort, only having flaps and aerodynamic fin-like appendages. The tip of its mouth is also prominent, resembling the rhinarium of a mammal. It also has a row of spines running down its back and tail.
"Huh? What the? How am I?" the boy rapidly asked in a panic.
Ryukyu assumed that he was freaking out about the quirk laws and quickly went to reassure him.
"Hey, kid, it's okay! You're not going to get in trouble for what you did just now. I'll just tell the police that I gave you permission to use your quirk to help me. You have my word."
"But… but I'm not supposed to have a quirk! At all! So how is this happening?!" he asked in a panic.
The Dragon Heroes eyes went wide as she realized why he was panicking now. He must have been one of the rare few of his generation to be diagnosed as quirkless, and because of that he's freaking out now that he's had a quirk manifest. She slowly approached and placed a gentle hand on his snout in an attempt to calm him down. It worked, surprisingly, as he gradually stopped panicking and closed his eyes as a low rumbling sound that was almost like a purr emanated from his throat.
'So cute!' she thought before saying, "Why don't you come with me to the police station so we can figure this out. I meant what I said when I told you that you're not in trouble."
The boy, or rather, dragon, nodded as he opened his eyes and stood upright. He started forward with the most adorable waddle Ryukyu has ever seen from a dragon before falling forward on all fours. He looked at his new body, the appendages on his head moving as they seemed to convey his emotions.
"Well, this feels different." he commented.
"I can imagine. Your new form must be mainly quadrupedal, so you'll have to learn to walk on all fours while you're like that." she said before asking, "What's your name, by the way?"
"Oh, uh, i-i-it's Izuku. M-Midoriya Izuku."
