*Author's Note - Truth be told, I am a Star Trek fan. I began watching the show from a young age, and while young - I literally wrote a fan-fiction series on paper about my own original teenage characters exploring the Star Trek universe in much more comedic scenarios. Fast forward to many years later, and I re-discovered my own fan-fiction stories in a box at home, and realized that some of the ideas and concepts were actually much stronger than I realized... so I have decided to adapt them into the story you are about to read. Some of the concepts/characters in this story may seem similar to certain modern Star Trek shows... but I assure you, this is is all coincidental (as I made up these ideas nearly 20 years ago). For people that are less familiar with Star Trek, intricate knowledge of the franchise is not required. This series is simply meant to be a fun space adventure starring teenage characters that just happen to exist in the Star Trek universe. So anyway... hope you all enjoy this story that was written by twelve year old me, and heavily updated and edited by my adult self...

Space. The final frontier. These are the voyages of some ship traveling through space. It's mission... I don't know and I don't care. What I do care about is what me and my friends that are living on this ship are doing out here. Our mission is to seek out fun stuff to do, and do whatever the hell we want, and to boldly do crazy things that no teen has done before!

Teen Trekkers Episode 1 - Klingon High School

Written by: Fun But Shy Girl

Deep in space, the USS Cochrane was flying through space. As the ship was in the middle of it's mission of exploring strange new worlds and new civilizations... a Vulcan teenage girl was walking down the ship's hallway beside the ship's counselor. The counselor smiled as they said, "So how have you been enjoying the USS Cochrane so far Vol?" The Vulcan teenage girl: Vol, glared at the ship's counselor as she said, "As a Vulcan, I find no enjoyment in anything. As I would assume any Starfleet counselor would know, my people suppressed all types of feelings and emotions centuries ago. My living situation has been relocated to this ship due to my father being assigned as the Cochrane's science officer, and I accept that fact." The ship's counselor continued to give a positive attitude as they said, "Well... I thought you'd enjoy meeting all of the other teenagers that live on this ship as well. Just like you, their parents serve in various departments on the ship as well." Vol kept a straight face as she said, "Well... my father has encouraged me study other species to further my interest in inter-species biology and psychology, so I suppose I could practice living alongside them... for now." The counselor then pointed to a door, and then said, "Well here's the quarters of Captain Leonard. His son Carl likes to hang out with his friends here often. I told them you'd be coming, so I'll let you introduce yourself and leave you teens to handle things on your own. Let me know if you need anything."

The ship's counselor then walked away as Vol softly said to herself, "Hmm. The captain's son... No doubt being the son of one of Starfleet's most respected captains, he must be high disciplined and intelligent." Then Vol pressed a button near the door before her. Then she heard a young male voice yell, "Come on in!" The door opened, and then Vol stepped into a messy room where four other teenagers were sitting around a large screen. As one teenage boy and one teenage girl were stuffing their faces with potato chips, two other teenage boys were holding controllers that were piloting two virtual spaceships in front of them. One of the boys played the virtual game, he yelled, "Watch out Cyber, because my ship is totally gonna annihilate your ship today!" The other teenage boy, Cyber, then said, "Guess again Carl! Your behind is gonna be beat so hard, it's gonna become your front."

Vol then cleared her throat as she said, "Ah hem. Greetings." The teenage boy: Carl got up as he said, "Yo! What's up!? I'm Carl. Welcome to Power Pad... AKA my quarters, which just happens to have the best snacks and virtual games ever!" Vol looked uncomfortable as she said, "Indeed. My name is..." Then the other teenage boy: Cyber stood up and interrupted Vol as he said, "Hey. My neural net is telling me everything. You're Vol. Daughter of the new science officer: Commander Valis. You already have like six awards for papers you've written!" Vol looked slightly confused as she said, "Indeed. However... you said you have a neural net. Are you some type of android?" Cyber smirked as he said, "Nah. I'm more of an android. I got really hurt when I was a kid, so my super smart parents saved me be replacing parts of my head and brain with cybernetic implants based on the work of Doctor Noonien Soong. It's cool though. My built in processor helps me get my homework done faster, and makes my hand/eye coordination better when playing space simulator with Carl here."

One of the other teenage boys then stood up and walked over to Vol as he said, "Well, I'm Joey. I'm half human and half Betazoid. I can sense people's emotions... which means I'm really good at sensing if people are having a good time at a party or not. You should have checked out the club I used to DJ on Earth... before they found I was underage and kicked me out, and my mom made me start living here with her." Then the other teenage girl stood up as she said, "And I am Leena. I am from the planet Dalbia; a new planet that has joined the Federation. As the royal princess, my mother and I have been sent to this ship as part of a cultural exchange program. As Dalbian princess, I hope you accept my greetings of peace and good will to you and your people." Joey then chuckled as he said, "Her title of princess is actually pretty worthless. Her planet gave up all forms of monarchy centuries ago, so any royal blood she has carries no weight. Her mother is really just a low ranking ensign in engineering." Then suddenly sparks of electricity began to surround Leena's body as she yelled, "Oh hell, you didn't just disrespect my royal heritage!" Then Leena shot a burst of electricity out of her body which immediately shocked Joey, and made him fall to the ground. Vol stood still with wide eyes, as a smiling Leena said, "My species can produce small amounts of electricity from our bodies as a means of self defense." As a shaken up Joey stood up, he angerly said, "Small amounts!?"

Carl laughed a bit, and then said, "This is what it's like around here all the time. Anyway Vol, are you gonna be joining us at school in a bit?" Vol looked slightly confused as she said, "School? Is there an educational program on this ship you all attend?" Cyber nodded his head as he said, "Aw, yeah. All teenagers living aboard starships have to attend a form of Federation schooling until they turn eighteen. Although if your grades are good enough, you can get credit for Starfleet Academy before even enlisting." Vol kept a straight face as she said, "While I have taken quite advanced coursework on Vulcan... but I am interested to see what an educational facility on a Federation ship could be like. I look forward to seeing what sharing an education experience with the four of you shall be like tomorrow."

The next day in a classroom on the ship: Carl, Vol, Cyber, Lena and Joey were sitting at an advanced desks as everyone (except Vol) were throwing paper airplanes everywhere. As an excited Carl threw several paper airplanes, he said, "Aw yeah. I've folded my paper airplanes perfectly. They are totally gonna beat yours." Then a confidant Cyber said, "Oh yeah. Well I've installed small microchips in mine that will allow my paper airplanes to attack yours at exactly the right trajectory." Then a laid-back sounding Joey glanced at Vol as he said, "So how you digging Federation school Vol? Pretty sweet, huh?" Vol looked miserable as she glared at Joey while saying, "It is... quite exasperating." Then suddenly a female teacher entered the room as she said, "Hello class." Then Carl said, "Yo Miss Stuart. What's going on?" Miss Stuart kept a small smile on her face while saying, "Well Carl, I have some important news for all of you. Outside of our newest student, the rest of you haven't been keeping up with your studies and are on the verge of failing this class." Then Joey grinned as he said, "Sorry Miss Stuart. I guess we haven't been studying as hard as we could, since we've been busy fighting." A confused looking Vol then said, "What kind of fighting has preoccupied you all?" Then a smiling Carl said, "Just fighting for our right... to party!"

Miss Stuart meanwhile continued to keep a small smile on her face as she said, "Well, since my current teaching methods haven't reached you all; I've realized that I need to try more alternative means to teach you all about different cultures in the Federation. So you all have two choices to finish up your semester. Write a one hundred paragraph essay on the history of any planet in the Federation you have no ancestry from... or learn about an alien culture by spending a day at an alien school." Everyone then glanced at one another as Carl said, "Hmm... Write a super long essay that will take days to finish... or have a quick little field trip to some alien school. Well... we take option number two!" Miss Stuart grinned as she said, "Very well then. A shuttle will be taking you to an alien planet first thing tomorrow morning." Leena then raised a hand as she said, "Uh... Miss Stuart... what planet are we going to tomorrow?" Miss Stuart made a big grin as she said, "Qo'noS. You're going to Klingon High School tomorrow." A suddenly freaked out looking Joey then yelled, "What!?"

In Carl's quarters a short time late, the five teens sat together as Joey said "Klingon High School!? What are we getting ourselves into? The Klingons are some of the most blood thirsty and ruthless warriors in the galaxy! They were enemies of the Federation for nearly 150 years!" Then a calm looking Carl said, "Relax Joey. Peace with the Klingon Empire has been a lot more chill in the last few decades. Plus, we'll essentially be diplomats. They won't hurt us." As Joey began to look even more scared, he said, "Relax!? Carl, have you forgotten!? I can sense emotions, and whenever I'm around Klingons - all I can sense is the minds of savages that have thoughts of murdering me!" Then Cyber began to looked a bit worried too as he said, "Carl, Klingons are known to be difficult to get along with. Very few have ever been able to join Starfleet." Carol sighed in frustration, and then calmly said, "Guys, it's gonna okay. We're just going to a Klingon school. We're not facing these dudes in battle."

Vol, while keep a straight face, quickly jumped in by saying, "In past reports, Klingons when in their native environment, have proven to be quite violent and short tempered towards even peers of their liking." Carl glared at Vol for a moment, and then casually said, "Guys, I think we've all just looked at Klingons the wrong way around. They sing songs, eat whatever they want, and do whatever they want no matter who gets in their way. In a sense... they're just like cool Earth teenagers. I'm sure everything is gonna be fine when we meet them." Then a curious Leena asked, "What's the name of the school we're going to anyway?" Vol then picked up a pad as she said, "According to the data given to us, the facility's name roughly translates to... Place of Death." Joey quickly began to look much more worried now as he hysterically said, "Great! We're going to The School of Death. I'm sure nothing will go wrong in a place with that name!"

In a dark hallway on the Planet Qo'noS - Carl, Vol and Lena went up to a classroom door in a Klingon school while Carl said, "Well my reading of Klingon is a little rusty but I think this is the class the three of us are supposed to be attending." Then Carol opened the door to the classroom... just as a Klingon teenager was thrown out the door. Carl, Vol, and Leena then saw inside the classroom were rows of seats that had many Klingon teenagers sitting in them... with the exception to one angry teenage Klingon who was standing up as he yelled, "And don't insult my family's honor again!" The Klingon teacher at the front of the class smiled as he said, "Good job Gowreth. I'll be sure to give you extra credit points on your next test." Leena suddenly began to look a bit nervous, while a smiling Carl said, "Whoa. You mean in this school you're allowed to screw with people you don't like? I'm already loving this place!"

In another hallway of the Klingon school: Cyber and Joey stood near a door as Cyber said, "Well here's our class we're in." A nervous Joey then said, "Well... I guess we should go in." Then the door to the class opened and as Cyber and Joey walked in: they saw many Klingons standing in the class holding strange weapons. Then a Klingon teacher seeing Cyber and Joey, walked over to them as he said, "Are you the Starfleet teenagers sent to attend our class?" A nervous Cyber then said "Uh... Yeah. That's us." Then the Klingon teacher held out a large knife as he said, "Then prepare for a class you shall never forget. Ah, ha, ha, ha." Then a very scared Joey said, "We are so dead."

As Carl, Vol and Lena sat at the front of their class, their Klingon teacher looked at them as he said, "My name is Coth. Son of Kelon. Just as it is in your schools, it is customary for a new student to introduce themselves." The teacher then pointed at Carl as he said, "You boy, shall talk first!" Carl then got up and stood in front of the class. Carl showed a great amount of confidence before the Klingon students as he said, "My name is Carl. Son of Thomas. I am here to learn all I can about how your honorable Klingon school works." Then the Klingon teenager from earlier: Gowreth stood up and said, "I do not believe that statement. A non-Klingon could never handle all of what our schools have to offer." Carl raised one eyebrow as he said, "Is that a fact?" Gowreth smiled as he said, "Oh yes. Compared to your Federation schools, Klingon schools have far less disciplinary rules. The mighty simply wipe out the weak and only the strongest Klingons graduate. What strong things have you done with your life son of Leonard?" Carl crossed his arms as he confidently said, "Many." Then Gowreth stepped forward as he glared at Carl while saying, "Then start listing them."

In a science classroom, Cyber and Joey were working on repairing a thruster engine. As Cyber looked carefully at the thruster engine, he said, "Whoa. Look at the circuitry on this engine Joey. It's got a lot more kick than anything Starfleet has currently got." Then the Klingon teacher of the class walked over to Cyber and Joey while saying, "I see you are quite impressed with Klingon technology." An amazed Cyber then said, "It really is pretty awesome. I didn't realize Klingon tech could be so sophisticated." The Klingon teacher smiled as he said, "A common misconception many outsiders have. Yet everyone seems forget that Klingons did somehow create warp drive on their own. Any species that has advanced that far had to at least have some people interested in science. Here at our school, we proudly encourage any interested Klingons to pursue honorable research in the scientific fields." Meanwhile Joey looked around the room as he said, "It is kind of weird though that all scientific devices in this room look like they could double as weapons." The Klingon teacher chuckled for a moment, and then said, "Well that is mostly tied to tradition. It is said that when our ancestors were first attacked by wild animals, their very weapons they used to fight with were the very tools they used to create fire. Since then it has been important that many of our scientific tools have multiple purposes." An amazed looking Joey then said, "Whoa. Klingon history is way cooler than I realized!"

Carl stood in front of his Klingon class as he said, "I had to download the last answers for my homework seconds before the security grid picked me up. Then at the very last second I cut myself from the grid with all the answers to my math assignment that I needed. It was a glorious victory!" Then Gowreth glared at Carl as he said, "That is the story of a fools' accomplishment. A true Klingon would only tell a warriors' tale." Carl groaned in frustration, and then said, "Look. Maybe I don't do warrior stuff that well, but I doubt you do much of that either. I mean you certainly aren't the skinniest Klingon I've ever seen." Gowreth suddenly very angry as he yelled, "Is that a challenge to my honor!?" Carl grinned as he said, "It might be." Gowreth then walked forward and stood right in front of Carl while saying, "Since you are an off world visitor, I am forbidden to challenge you to a battle to the death. However if you have any honor, you will accept my non-lethal challenge. Lunch time in the cafeteria. First warrior that falls to the ground and stays down for ten seconds, loses." Carl grinned as he said, "I'll be there."

Meanwhile Leena walked over to the classroom teacher and said, "Don't you wanna stop this?" The Klingon teacher smiled as he said, "Why should I? We haven't had a good lunch room brawl in days. This will certainly build up school spirit." Then as Carl sat down at his desk, Leena sat back down next to him as she said, "Carl, are you crazy!? You can't battle Gowreth!" Then Carl leaned back in his chair as he said, "And why not? It's not like we're battling to the death." Then Vol simply said, "In theory, you might be better off doing that instead." Then a confused Carl said, "Why do you say that?" Then Vol plainly said, "Klingons do not mind dying in battle but they do mind staying alive after losing in battle due to the shame it brings them. If you fight Gowreth and lose, it will be the greatest humiliation of your life in the eyes of the other students here." Then Carl continued to remain calm as he said, "Eh... I'm sure it won't be a big deal."

A short time later in the Klingon high school cafeteria, Carl and Gowreth stood with over two hundred Klingon students chanting at them. Vol then walked over to Carl and handed him a non-lethal Klingon weapon as she said, "Today would not be a good day to die." Then Gowreth held up his weapon while yelling, "Prepare to lose your honor human!" Then a confidant Carl walked forward as he said, "Well you better watch out. I've studied tons of old Earth martial arts movies, so I think I know a thing or two about..." Then suddenly Gowreth used his weapon to hit Carl in the stomach, and then punched his head once, and suddenly Carl found himself lying on the ground very hurt. Then Gowreth held his hands up and yelled, "I am victorious!" Then Carl slowly got up looking humiliated as he said, "Uggh. Is there a school nurse around here who can help me?" Vol then walked over to Carl as she said, "Klingon schools are not required to hire nurses." Then a frustrated Carl banged his hand on the floor as he said, "Ugggh!"

A short time later, Carl was sitting at a lunch table as Vol was putting bandages on him. Cyber and Joey then walked over to the two as an excited Joey said, "Guys! This Klingon school is amazing! They have this weird food that tastes just like pizza... but it moves... but for some reason it still tastes awesome!" Then an excited Cyber said, "Yeah. Plus, I combined Starfleet tech with a Klingon disruptor to make something that has incredible fire power. I call it.. the Annihilator... which apparently I'm not allowed to take back to the ship. But still... this place has so many amazing technologies. I could spend the rest of my life in the labs here." Suddenly Leena walked over to the group as she said, "Hey guys. I've just spent the last hour in the school library. Klingon poetry is so romantic. Who knew a man promising a woman to rip out the hearts of her enemies could make you just... sigh..." Meanwhile Carl sighed in frustration, and then said, "Well I'm glad you guys are having a good time. Things... haven't quite gone the way I would like. But at least it can't get any worse." Then another Klingon teenager grabbed Carl by the shoulder and said, "I challenge you to combat! Gowreth stole my honor in combat last week, so I seek an opportunity for one of us to reclaim it in glorious battle!" Carl suddenly looked very nervous as he said, "What!?"

At the end of the day: Carl, Vol, Cyber, Leena, and Joey stepped onto a shuttle craft. Their teacher: Miss Stuart was sitting in the shuttle craft as she said, "So kids... how was Klingon school today?" An excited Leena then said, "Amazing! Klingon poetry is so beautiful!" A smiling Cyber then said, "It was awesome! I got to work on two thruster engines, and somehow created the most powerful weapon in the galaxy by accident!" Then a happy Joey said, "I made some new friends, and got a liking to Fried Targ." Then Vol raised one eyebrow as she said, "I was quite intrigued by their math department and discovering how the Klingon species found a form of logic in the midst of their inherit chaos." Then Miss Stewart looked at Carl as she said, "What about you Carl? Would you like to have an experience like this again?" Carl, who was sitting with many bandages all over his body, simply said, "I... would rather do the long essay next time."
