The nerve of her!
Who does she feel she thinks is assailing the grandson of Ra's al Ghul?!
He could annihilate her a hundred times before she hit the ground.
It's been weeks since he's encountered the little girl, Josephine Kerr, an emaciated inconsequential brat!
She's in association with Victor Zsasz or some other miscreant in Gotham.
"Dame," said Grayson during one of their sparring sessions, "let it go!"
"I should let her go off the roof of a building."
"It was a cheap shot," Grayson said as he dodged a punch. "She didn't defeat you! And she likely did it to get you off her."
"I don't care!" Robin answered back as he blocked a punch. "She's insulted my honor."
It doesn't matter if it was a cheap shot or a defense mechanism; she'd won against him.
"Forget about Josephine Kerr." His father ordered.
"She might know something about where Zsasz is!"
"I sincerely doubt it. Didn't your friend say she's a stranger in Gotham?"
"Well, maybe she's a victim."
In reality, he loathed the idea of Zsasz picking her off before he could get to her.
"Colin said he hadn't seen her in a while; maybe she's not at the orphanage anymore."
His father looked away; maybe he was wearing down. Perhaps he could talk him into tracking her down.
"Maybe she got lucky and was adopted." His father growled.
"Or maybe she's dead!" Robin countered. "She could be floating face down in the harbor right now!"
"Or she could be in association with Victor Zsasz." He retorted, glancing at the boy. "Baiting children to their extinction. That's why you want to fight her, right?"
"I didn't say-"
"But that is why you want to find her, right?"
"No, I just want to-"
"Restore your broken pride!"
"If I were Grayson or Drake, we wouldn't be having this discussion!"
It was true that if one of his favorites asked this, there would be no questioning their judgment.
"Because Dick and Tim would've let it go!"
"Why can't you just trust me?"
"Because you haven't given much reason to!"
That stung more than Damien thought it would.
"Because I'm not afraid to deal with your repeat offenders!"
"Josephine Kerr is not a repeat offender! She's an eight-year-old girl!"
He didn't understand.
He couldn't understand.
Damien had to find her!
He had to find Josephine Kerr, and he had to defeat her.
