Conference Room

In the conference room Captain Alton and his senior staff were greeted by Colonel Lang and her team happy to have Alton back.

Colonel Lang saluted her Captain. "Captain Alton glad to have you back!" Commented Lang of having Alton and the Praeter return back to Pegasus.

Alton returned the salute. "Glad to be back Colonel!" Replied Alton as he and the rest of his staff take their seats. "Now Let's get down to business."

Colonel Lang began giving reports on what has happened the past two months Captain Alton and the crew were travelling between galaxies cut off from communications with Lang. Lang gave a debrief on the current situation in the galaxy and what has transpired, one being how they helped Colonel Sheppard save Atlantis from a man named Lucius Lavin who used an herb in liquid form to make people enamored by him. After they created a serum to counter the effects, they reversed the damage to the Atlantis expedition and the people of Lucius's village. When asked if they still have any samples of this chemical, Lang reported she order the research and liquid destroyed to prevent it from being misused.

Captain Alton approved the decision by Lang, while Captain Dare did not, but decided to drop the matter. Lang reported the Wraith having an outpost where the herb is grown on the designated planet by the Atlantis expedition on M6H-491. Lang also reported of an incident with Ronon being captured by a village and handed over to the Wraith that destroyed his planet, Sheppard requested their assistance and provided it and while it was a risky operation, Lang acquired a piece of Wraith technology for Dr. Crane too look at.

"And that's pretty much what's happened since you've been away, Captain!" Reported Lang of all the intel she's managed to put together.

Alton looked at the datapad. "Clearly things have been getting hectic while we were away." Commented Alton on the current situation that has transpired since they left. "I assume you forwarded all this information back to the UNSC?"

Lang had an awkward look on her face. "I have constantly been updating them ever since you set up the Stargate back in our galaxy." Replied Lang feeling a bit annoyed at the constant dialing in by the UNSC has been doing, namely the Military Intelligence wanting up to date information.

Alton nodded his head expecting this out come as he looks at the people around him. "Last year we had complete autonomy and no UNSC officials overlooking our actions and questioning our decisions." Stated Alton of what things were like cut off from the UNSC. "Now that they have access to a Stargate, they can monitor our every action."

Faison grunted not liking the sound of that. "I guess bringing a Stargate back has its down sides!" Pointed out Faison of the new restrictions placed on them. "What about the President of the UETG?"

"She requests to have a civilian oversight to be present at Gamma base on Halo to observe all information being transmitted along with mission reports by us." Explained Alton on what the President wants. "She is deferring to the UNSC leadership to decide on what actions they want taken in Pegasus."

Many in the room felt anxious and upset at hearing this. "Well at least on the bright side we have a supply line now from home where we can request weapons, medicine, or other technologies to help us." Commented Crane trying to make a terrible outlook seem good.

Alton placed down the datapad and stood up. "Whatever the case maybe we should continue to operate as before regardless of the current situation." Defended Alton of not wanting the constant observation by the UNSC to hamper what they came here to do. "Now dismiss."

As everyone began leaving the klaxon alarms began going off signaling an incoming wormhole.

Ignis Base

Gate Control room

Alton walked into the gate control room where most of the staff have returned taking over the skeleton crew left behind to maintain operations, the only difference this time, the UNSC ordered an A.I. to be stationed on the base.

"Good day Captain!" Stated the A.I. as he appeared on the holotable in the gate room, his appearance was that of a male in his early 20s with messy crop hair and wearing attire befitting a young man his age. "This incoming wormhole is a schedule check in by Gamma base."

Alton straighten himself out and walked over to a screen waiting for a transmission to appear. After the gate activated the screens mounted on the wall began receiving a transmission and to his surprise Admiral Osman and Lord Hood appeared on the screen split in two each at a different location, Alton saluted to the two.

"Admiral Osman and Lord Hood, I'm surprised you're the ones dialing in!" Blurted out Alton not expecting Hood and Osman to go out of their way to travel to Gamma base and be present for the schedule check-ins.

"We're not!" Stated Hood on the screen. "Gamma base is forwarding this transmission through Ivanoff station and into a Slipspace com launcher we setup during your 2-month voyage between galaxies."

"Normally we wouldn't bother to keep track of anyone's progress personally." Added Osman pointing to how busy both highest ranking members of the UNSC are. "But given this unusual situation we are in we have to invest sometime out of our busy schedule to keep track of your progress in Pegasus."

Alton knew Osman was going to especially keep track of any and all information to use against him and his people. "I'll look forward to keeping you both apprised of everything that goes on here." Remarked Alton at having the two highest officials in the UNSC all to himself. "Once I show you the success, we bring here maybe you can reconsider sending more help our way."

Hood and Osman looked reluctant to respond to that statement. "It will be considered!" Answered Hood not exactly convincing Alton. "Now onto why we contacted you, it wasn't just to see if you made it safely Captain it refers to recent intel provided by Colonel Lang."

Alton began typing away at the controls. "I'm assuming your referring to that Wraith outpost the Atlantis expedition confirmed on the planet designated as M6H-491." Commented Alton on what Hood was referring too.

Hood nodded his head. "We understand from your previous mission reports you infiltrated a known Wraith outpost to gather intel on the Wraith and to know what they were doing!" Pointed out Hood on the mission that got one of his people killed. "We want Captain Dare to scout out the outpost in her stealth ship and see what she can gather."

Alton nodded his head; he was planning on that anyway. "Of course, sir." Said Alton complying with the order. "Is there anything else?"

Hood nodded his head. "Is about forming this official alliance with Weir and her government and pressing our interests to their people." Explained Hood about the plan negotiations in the future. "President Ruth Charet wants to set up a meeting between a representative from their planet and an ambassador from our government."

Alton nodded his head. "Understood and about the Asgard I mentioned in my reports?" Inquired Alton of seeking an alliance with aliens.

Hood and Osman had uncomfortable looks on their faces when Alton mentioned the Asgard and while the reports they read claim they were friendly towards humans and were allies with Weir's people they were reluctant to seek any relations, however President Ruth Charet saw this as an opportunity to seek out aliens who didn't want to exterminate humanity.

"You may request an audience and set up a meeting for the ambassador!" Stated Hood not jumping for joy on the matter. "Until then, next schedule check-in will be tomorrow same time, Hood out."

The gate shutdown an indication Gamma base disconnected the power cutting their connection with Ignis base.

"This is going to take getting use to!" Commented Alton of having to meet with Hood and Osman once a day talking to them a galaxy away on video and audio.

UNSC Research Base

In this UNSC research base it was assigned to studying everything acquired from the Pegasus galaxy by the crew of the Praeter. The UNSC saw bringing in the best specialists from across all fields to come in and work on studying the information presented.

Lord Hood and Osman was taking a tour seeing the many scientists working in different sections of the base. The head researcher was giving a tour of the base to Hood and Osman, Dr Whu was leading them through the many clear glass see through labs where holograms were being shown of Hive ships and other Wraith information.

"As you can see, we are deciphering the information acquired by Captain Alton and his people." Remarked Whu of the many people working in labs and at their stations. "And were also examining some of the materials acquired by Alton and his people."

As Whu leads them through the base Hood and Osman saw the Wraith dart being examined as well as the Naquadah and Trinium Alton acquired through trade.

"That Wraith darts transport is something we should consider investing in." Commented Osman thinking the useful ways it could be used by the UNSC.

This cause Hood to give her a look. "And here I thought you oppose to the idea of going back to Pegasus?" Goaded Hood of getting Osman to admit she was wrong.

Osman smirked at Hood. "I still have my reservations, but I might as well take advantage of the situation and see to it that we should focus on areas that will help humanity repel against any and all threats." Pointed out Osman that while she may oppose Hood at times on decisions, she won't out right not use the tools presented to her. "That transporter has interesting applications we could apply to our people."

Hood could only agree. "I can see the benefits to the idea!" Remarked Hood at reverse engineering the technology to use by humans and the UNSC. "Will have to wait and see."

The three continue their progression through the base until they reached a special room completely blurred from outside view.

UNSC Research Base

Wraith Research Lab

In this special lab design to study the Wraith and find ways to kill them, the scientists were working on the Hoffan drug Dr. Collins and her team worked on as well as the Wraith enzyme.

Hood grabbed a vial and lifted up to his eyesight. "So, this is what will make us immune to the Wraith?" Asked Hood looking at Dr. Whu.

"To the Wraith feeding process!" Clarified Whu on the information. "Dr. Collins and her team did a marvelous job at researching this drug and providing extensive materials for us to follow the work."

"And how far have you gotten on this?" Asked Osman the idea of being immune to the Wraith feeding process was paramount for the UNSC.

Whu's sudden disposition changed looking embarrassed. "I'm sorry to say despite the research by Dr. Collins that has accelerated us in doing our own research we still haven't been unable to refine the drug to make it safer for all humans."

Hood and Osman looked to one another displeased to hear this. "Anything else to report Doctor?" Asked Hood giving Whu a chance to continue with the tour.

Whu brought up another vial. "This is the Wraith enzyme that allows for the feeding process to be successful." Remarked Whu showing the vial containing pink liquid. "It also has some interesting properties, but according to Dr. Collins research dangerous side-effects."

Osman picked up the vial of enzyme. "How much do we have?" Asked Osman wondering the amount on hand.

Dr. Whu placed the vial back down and looked at a datapad "Dr. Collins extracted enough supply for us to continue studying and researching it." Replied Whu of what Collins had to do to get the supply, which made Hood feeling a little uncomfortable at the thought, while Osman had no problem to the idea.

Osman placed the vial down and turned to face Whu. "Have you figured out a way to create a synthetic version of the enzyme?" Inquired Osman seeing how far they've come in their research.

Dr. Whu once again had a disappointed look. "Unfortunately, not." Remarked Dr. Whu at his failure. "The enzyme chemical makeup is foreign to us and doesn't seem we can create a synthetic version or engineer on our own."

While Osman was thinking, Hood was giving out orders. "Dr. Whu continue your research into the Wraith as well as everything else." Ordered Hood wanting to know what their up against despite being a galaxy away. "We need to know how to defend ourselves."

Dr. Whu nodded his head. "Of course, Lord Hood I'll have my teamwork around the clock." Replied Dr. Whu as he gets back to work.

While Osman and Hood leave the facility.

R&D Lab

In the R&D lab Dr. Crane was fully immersed in his work studying the new piece of Wraith technology they haven't encountered yet. Crane was studying Wraith trackers, also known as a subspace tracking device, are implants used by the Wraith. According to what research he was able to do and information he acquired from Colonel Langs mission reports these small devices were implanted surgically into the body where they emitted a subspace signal which was capable of being detected by the Wraith. This allowed them to detect the target through the resulting frequency being emitted from the target. They were typically placed close to the spinal column in order to prevent the individual from cutting them out themselves.

The doors to the lab opened and in walked Alton inspecting on the progress Crane has made. "Doctor Crane what have you got?" Asked Alton standing on the opposite side of his workbench examining what appeared to be Wraith technology.

Crane stopped examining the technology and looked at Alton. "Captain, I believe we have something that could benefit us and the UNSC." Exclaimed Crane excited by this discovery. "I have here what appears to be a tracking device that uses subspace to transmit the location to the Wraith!"

Alton had a concerned look on his face when he heard that. "Tell me this thing is not active?" Asked Alton stressing out on the security of the base.

Crane shook his head. "Of course not, I'm not so careless as allowing that to happen." Remarked Crane feeling insulted that Alton would think he would make such a mistake. "It's completely off I'm examining how the device works."

"How does it work?" Asked Alton intrigued by this technology.

Crane in his chair rolled over to a screen and activated it showing an image of the device. "According to the information I studied from the Atlantis expedition and from my own research, the Wraith surgically implants these devices near their spinal column which then allows them to transmit a frequency over subspace."

"Can anyone pick up this frequency?" Asked Alton wondering how secure it is.

Crane nodded his head. "It's not as secure as we would like it, as anybody with access to decent sensors could pick it up if attune to detect subspace frequencies." Explained Crane of how security is not a concern to the Wraith. "However, thanks to my understanding of subspace from Dr. McKay I can reverse engineer our own tacking device and make it transmit a frequency on Slipspace."

Alton's eyes widen surprised to hear this. "You can make that possible?" Asked Alton in disbelief.

Crane nodded his head. "It will take a while but, I believe I can." Reiterated Crane of the confidence he has. "If we have a tracking device that emits a Slipspace frequency we would be the only ones who can track it."

Alton began thinking it over and besides the Atlantis expedition Alton and his people were the only ones who know about Slipapce, but have the means to hone on the frequency being emitted by the tracking. "Have a prototype ready for testing." Ordered Alton wanting Crane to get to work on it. "Anything else to show me?"

Crane shook his head. "Nothing else, but the tracking device." Replied Crane as he strolls back to the worktable to resume studying the device.

Alton nodded his head and began walking out of the lab leaving Crane to his work.

Conference Room

In the conference room, Dare was giving her reports on the discoveries her people have made in the field. "The Wraith outpost on M6H-491 is the same kind of facility in design as the one we encountered last year." Remarked Dare showing image she took of the facility on the screen. "For what purpose the Wraith set up a facility on the planet is unknown and is constantly guarded by two Wraith Cruisers however the occasional transport ship arrives offloading what we suspect are humans to replenish the Wraith."

"So, too well guarded for another raid on the facility?" Asked Alton wondering if they could launch an attack on the outpost.

Dare nodded her head. "I don't recommend it and notify all GR teams of the address of the planet." Proposed Dare so as to not let one of the teams be tricked by undercover Wraith worshippers that could be hiding in one of the many human populations in the galaxy. "I also have something to report."

Alton looked intrigued and curious. "What is it?" He asked wondering what Dare had to say.

"It's about what happened last year the incident with the Genii!" Commented Dare bringing up information on the wall. "The agent I sent in to infiltrate their organization and left there to maintain deep undercover for me since we left has reported in after I returned and notified me the Genii are seeking out the UNSC and form an alliance with us."

Alton leaned on the table his hands clasp together. "I can see the benefit for them forming an alliance with us!" Stated Alton of the obvious fact. "But what do we gain from them?"

Dare brings up information based on her own observation. "Despite being technologically inferior to us and the Wraith they still are a well efficient military organization that has set up a spy network across the galaxy, are able to coordinate attacks, and are able to create nuclear weapons that could under our guidance help them deploy against the Wraith."

Alton began tapping his fingers on the table considering the idea. "Gather more intel on the Genii especially Ladon Radim." Ordered Alton not forgetting how Ladon set himself up as leader of the Genii. "Once you do, I'll pass along all the information we have to the UNSC and let them decide on the matter."

Alton stands up from his chair and heads out the door leaving Dare in the room.

Osman's Office

In Osman's office she was swiping away on her computer screen passing through Spartan IV candidates to take part in an experimentation.

"How about this candidate BB?" Asked Osman showing the Spartan IV on her screen. "Cara Costabile."

BB appeared on Osman's desk in his usual avatar shape box. "Negative personality profiling was enough to pass through the enlistment for the Spartan IV program, but given what we know about this enzyme might effect Costabile mentally that might put her in danger to others as well as herself."

Osman leaned back in the chair and crossed her arms. "That's the third one you dismissed!" Complained Osman as she needed someone to put through the testing phase. "Do you have someone in mind?"

BB took over Osman computer and brought up a Spartan IV and his profile. "Vladimir Scruggs was a service member of the UNSCDF and one of the first Spartan-IVs ever deployed. He was hand-picked by Jun-A266 very shortly after the end of the Human-Covenant war." Explained BB reading off the profile for Osman. "In early 2553, Scruggs was handpicked to join Fireteam Jackknife by Jun-A266. He completed his training and survived his augmentations, eventually being assigned to UNSC Infinity. The same day Scruggs arrived aboard, an Insurrectionist strike team working for the New Colony Alliance captured the captain and seized control of the bridge. Scruggs, as well as Lasky, Jun, Holst, and Thomas, helped repel the armed invaders."

Osman leaned on her desk hands clasp together. "His record speaks for himself and personality profile looks good to recruit him for this experiment." Said Osman as she brings up data on the screen showing information and an image of a chemical makeup. "Hopefully he can handle the Wraith enzyme."

"Are you sure we should administer an alien enzyme into people especially Spartan IV's?" Questioned BB on Osman's decision.

"According to Dr. Collins research and test subjects she acquired showed that this enzyme is capable of significantly enhancing the user's natural abilities." Explained Osman on the research Collins did on the enzyme. "Speed, strength, and stamina are all increased and that's just in a regular person, imagine giving it to an augmented soldier like a Spartan!"

"Her research also pointed out the enzyme acts like a narcotic, causing loss of judgment and addiction if taken over a long period of time." Noted BB in the research Collins made. "Not to mention the withdrawal symptoms; in the early stages, enzyme withdrawal causes fatigue in the subject. As it progresses, the subject suffers from sweating, convulsions, increased blood pressure, and delirium. The severity of the symptoms is proportionate to the level and time of exposure. Regulated doses over a few weeks will only cause fatigue during withdrawal, while higher levels will induce the full range of symptoms. Withdrawal can potentially be fatal if the subject has been dependent on the enzyme for too long or has received an extremely large dose over a short period. Slowly weaning the subject off the enzyme through progressively lower doses will help ease the symptoms."

Osman knew of the dangers to using this enzyme, but the UNSC needed to continue improving the greatest assets Humanity ever created. Currently the SPARTAN-IV augmentation procedures developed over the three decades between the partly successful SPARTAN-II augmentation procedures and the end of the war, the augmentation procedures for the fourth iteration of the SPARTAN Program were conceived as a way to produce a soldier as powerful as a SPARTAN-II at the cost of a SPARTAN-III. Even as early as 2536, biochemical surgical augmentations had been developed that had 0% mortality rate. Nevertheless, these procedures were built for the augmentation of the more expendable SPARTAN-IIIs. The UNSC began developing a method of blending the brutal effectiveness of the SPARTAN-II procedures with the safety and reliability of the SPARTAN-III procedures. The result was a wide array of biochemical and biomechanical augmentations relying heavily on the use of artificial-organic synthesis. Once the SPARTAN-IV augmentations are implemented, it usually takes the subject(s) a couple of days to be able to walk.

The Wraith enzyme could be the next step in Spartan improvement, but she first needed to test it to see how effective it could be. "Will just have to find a better way to regulate the enzyme in the test subjects." Concluded Osman ending the conversation. "Which means we need to include more Spartan-IV's to this experiment."

Osman then stands up from her chair and heads to the door and out the room.

Gate Room

In the gate room of Atlantis, the Stargate was active, Captain Alton, Captain Dare, Dr. Crane, Major Faison, and Colonel Lang were waiting in the gate room.

"So, what do you think?" Asked Faison to Lang.

Lang was checking her gear before responding. "About what?" Said Lang answered Lang with another question.

"About these people were about to meet." Pointed out Faison of meeting a group of humans. "You think they're these Ancients we've heard so much about?"

Lang placed her weapon on her back after examining it. "Who can say!" Replied Lang unsure if there is any way to confirm it. "I just wish we had more people for this security detail."

Faison placed his helmet on his head. "I'm more than enough for this detail." Commented Faison of his Spartan status.

As Faison and Lang converse another conversation was happening. "Can you believe it actual Ancients!" Stated Crane excited at the prospect of meeting the first evolution of humanity. "The things we can learn from them."

Dare looked at Crane not as excited as he was. "Don't get ahead of yourself Crane, we still don't know if the people seen in the video Weir and her people took of are really the Ancients." Pointed out Dare for Crane not to get his hopes up. "I still think we should have brought a fire team with us!"

Alton turned his head to face Dare. "If these people are the Ancients, we need to show were peaceful and not bring an imposing force with us." Remarked Alton of the need to show the UNSC in a bright light.

"I think we should have waited and see what Lord Hood and Highcom wants us to do!" Stated Dare not liking the idea of doing things without informing their superiors.

"The next schedule isn't until tomorrow!" Pointed out Alton of how long they would have to wait. "And we both know they would have authorized us to make contact anyway."

Teyla arrives geared up along with Ronon twirling his pistol. Sheppard and McKay follow behind them.

"Put that thing away." Ordered Sheppard at Ronon waving his gun around. "I told them we were friendly."

Ronon holsters his pistol and holds his arms wide, innocently. "I'm friendly!" Stated Ronon.

Sheppard gave Ronon an accusing look. "Is that thing set to stun?" Asked Sheppard.

Ronon unholsters the pistol flamboyantly and resets it before holstering it again. "Friendlier." Demanded Sheppard to Ronon on working his people skills.

Weir joins the group, also outfitted for off world travel. "Are you coming too?" Asked McKay surprised to see Weir joining them.

"Well, Ancients or not, they are obviously an advanced society, and I would like to establish diplomatic relations with them immediately." Stressed Weir on the prospect of a beneficial trade relations they would have with these people.

Alton steps forward. "Dr. Weir!" Stated Alton getting her attention. "I would like to say thank you for sharing this opportunity with us in joining you in meeting these people."

Weir gave a warm smile at Atlon. "I owe one of your people for saving not only me but my entire expedition at the hands of an ill repute of a man." Commented Weir while looking at Lang with a smile, Lang in turn nodded her head.

Alton looked at Lang and then back at Weir "I'm glad one of my people were still here to assist in that matter." Smiled Alton happy to hear how Lang was able to save Atlantis. "When we're done with this meeting my government would like to meet with yours and discuss further on this alliance."

Weir smiled happy to hear this. "I'm sure we can set something up." Commented Weir excited for this part. "Now shall we get going."

"Well, you're the boss." Interjected Sheppard in their conversation. "Let's go."

Sheppard's team and Weir enter the wormhole followed behind is Alton and his crew.

Corridor

As soon as the entire group came through the gate, they appeared in front of what looked like a copy of Atlantis control room, but to their shock it was drastically different form behind them.

The group was met by a man named Niam who greeted them and gestured for the entire group to follow them to the high council, along the way there were questions about Niam and his people.

"How long have your people lived here?" Asked Weir curious about them.

Niam continuing to guide them didn't stop nor turn to face Weir "We built this city thousands of years ago." Answered Niam.

"Wait, you actually built it?" Asked McKay surprised to hear that. "You didn't just find it this way?"

"No." Responded Niam.

"Do you have any colonies or off world bases?" Asked Dare seeking if they expanded to other parts of the galaxy.

"We do not venture outside of our home system!" Replied Niam inclining that there was no reason to do so. "Everything we ever need is here on Asuras."

Niam leads them to an outer balcony. They look at their surroundings in awe.

"Oh my…" Said Weir speechless at what she was seeing.

Sheppard looking at the site as well mouth gaped open. "No kidding." Blurted out Sheppard.

The Ancient city-ship sits in a lake, dwarfed by a city scape that surrounds it from all sides.

Dare leans to Faison who bens down a little within ear shot of each other. "Make sure your recording everything!" Ordered Dare to Faison at what they were seeing."

"Began recording the moment we stepped through the gate Captain." Responded Faison already two steps ahead of Dare.

Alton and Crane come closer to the window looking at the site. "Amazing." Said Alton in aww of the site he was seeing as well. "This place reminds me of one of our major cities back home, maybe not as clean but the skyscrapers are nice sight."

"This place is so far beyond what we could imagine." Remarked Crane thinking what could be on this planet. "I mean the knowledge the technology they possess."

"How many people live here?" Asked Ronon

Niam standing on the side letting the visitors to take in the sight responded "Millions." Replied Niam.

"Well, the-the power requirements for a city this size must be enormous!" Exclaimed McKay thinking of how much they would need to power a city this size. "Well, plus, uh-uh, shielding from the Wraith, we're talking, what, three zero-point modules, maybe four?"

Niam looks at McKay blankly not understanding what he meant.

"Um, sorry." Apologized McKay for confusing Niam. "ZedPMs. Uh, um, uh a device that taps vast amounts of power from vacuum energy?"

"Oh, yes." Replied Niam now understanding what he meant. "We have many of those."

Sheppard hearing this became excited. "Exactly how many is "many"?" Blurted Sheppard wanting to know.

""Exactly" doesn't matter." Pointed out McKay of not needing to know an exact number. ""Many" is plenty!"

"Truthfully, I do not know the exact number." Said Niam being modest. "More than enough to suit our needs."

"I assume that you, um, built them yourselves?" Asked McKay smiling excited to hear his answer.

"Yes." Replied Niam.

"Yes." Said McKay acting all giddy.

Sheppard leans in close to McKay. "Easy Rodney, you're slobbering." Whispered Shepard.

"Please." Said Niam smiling at the group. "The Council is waiting."

Niam leads the way down the corridor. McKay quickly follows. The others hang back for a moment.

Alton turned to Crane. "ZPMs?" Asked Alton recalling a memory he has of him and Crane talking about these things. "Those are power sources used in Atlantis?"

Crane nodded his head in surprised. "Yes, they are, but that whole "taps power from vacuum energy" I'm not familiar with where McKay was leading on to." Remarked Crane trying to piece together that small but crucial bit of information. "When this is done and we head back to Ignis base I'll look into it further."

Alton nodded his head. "Good we need to know what power sources they use and if it's worth trying to get our hands on." Pointed out Alton the list he's making for what they want for trade. "Come on let's get moving everyone."

The Atlantis and UNSC team stand before a group of people seated around tables set in a horseshoe pattern. Four people are on either side (including Niam). At the center, slightly higher table, sits what many assume is their leader.

The dialogue between all three groups was going smoothly until it became quite clear that their leader didn't like the idea of amusing or hosting a group of outsiders and that he felt it was unnecessary to have a meeting such as this just to entertain the notion of seeing them as equals.

When it looked like negotiations were going nowhere their leader Oberoth offered to have them stay the night and leave the next morning.

Guest Quarters

In the guest quarters McKay and Dare were scanning the room to make sure no listening devices were being used allowing the group to converse.

"No listening devices of any kind I could detect." Stated McKay as he places his Ancient scanner away.

Dare walked up to Alton looking at her tacpad. "I'm not getting any kind of transmissions either."

"I was seriously getting a hostile feeling from that Oberoth guy." Commented Lang remembering the encounter.

Sheppard agreeing with Lang. "Obviously he doesn't like having guests here." Remarked Sheppard getting the unwelcome feeling. "Not to mention a lot of these people feel off, not very Ancienty to me."

"Ancienty?" Questioned McKay looking at Sheppard.

Sheppard looking annoyed. "Yes, that's the word I was looking for." Argued Sheppard.

Dare stepped into the conversation. "Might it not be possible that these people merely discovered this city, as you discovered Atlantis?" Questioned Dare now questioning these people's identities.

Crane looks around the room. "It's hard to imagine the Wraith missing this place and not destroying it during their war with the Ancients!" Commented Crane on the outpost left intact.

"Well, I think Dare's right." Said Sheppard agreeing with the spy. "They could have found the city the way it was and moved in years ago."

"Even if these people aren't who they say they are they still have access to some impressive technologies." Pointed out Faison on what these people have and not who they claim to be. "If they have technology to help us, I say we try to get our hands on it."

Teyla looking uncomfortable feeling something is off. "I feel they are hiding…something." Blurted out Teyla making her opinion heard amongst the group.

"Other than their plan to defeat the Wraith, you mean." Said Weir wryly.

Ronon leaning on a wall with his arms crossed looks disgruntled. "There's no plan." Ronon bickered knowing these people don't intend to fight.

"No, I don't think so either." Said Weir agreeing with Ronon.

"Why would they say they had a plan if they don't have a plan?" Asked McKay not getting the hint.

"They figured out a way to hide from the rest of the galaxy, including the Wraith, and they're happy to go on with their lives just…minding their own business." Explained Lang not blaming or condemning them, if the UNSC found a way to hide from the Covenant during the war but had to sacrifice the rest of the colonies they would have done so to ensure the survival of their civilization.

"Took the words right out of my mouth!" Stated Sheppard looking at Lang.

Alton sighed heavily. "Can we really blame them for not wanting to get involved?" Asked Alton to the group around them. "The Wraith completely brought the Ancients to the brink of extinction and abandon this galaxy to the Wraith."

"Still there are many people in this galaxy who could benefit from their help." Countered Teyla thinking of how human populations constantly face attacks from the Wraith. "If they have the means to fight the Wraith then they should."

"We still don't know if they really are the Ancients or not?" Questioned Crane feeling a little disappointed if they weren't the Ancients."

"Then, whoever they are…" Trailed off Ronon.

"I think that is what we need to find out." Said Weir looking at Alton.

"Thank you for taking the time to see us." Said Weir gesturing to her and Alton. "I thought we might achieve more in a one-on-one meeting, leader-to-leader."

Oberoth nods, dismissing the guard. "What is it you wish to achieve?" Asked Oberoth seeking to know Weir's intentions.

"The establishment of diplomatic and trade relations between our people." Responded Weir what she is seeking.

Alton then interjected. "An alliance between all three of us could make a major difference between our two people." Suggested Alton that working together can they be able to accomplish anything.

"Trade an Alliance?!" Blurted out Oberoth feeling insulted at the thought. "Do you really believe that you have anything of value to offer us and think we need allies to achieve anything?"

"It's possible, Oberoth." Mused Weir at the idea they have something of value to offer them. "And there is only one way to find that out, but I do know that there is something you could offer us that is assistance with our fight against the Wraith."

Oberoth had a displeasure look on his face "As I said before, we will commence our plan at a time of our choosing." Stressed Oberoth that they will choose their time to attack.

"Would you at least consider sharing with us the tools so we can better protect ourselves, until that time comes." Pleaded Weir of wanting access to their technology.

"Tools?" Asked Oberoth wondering what she meant. "Such as…?"

Alton then interjected. "Weapons technology and planetary defensive weapons along with advance shield technology." Requested Alton trying to get access to some advance military technology.

Oberoth stares down Alton. "Why would we turn you into a dangerous threat to us?" Questioned Oberoth.

Weir seeing Alton and Oberoth staring each other down intervened. "We on the other hand would like what we call Zero Point Modules, they're our power source." Requested Weir steering the conversation back to her. "We are in urgent need of as many as you can spare."

Oberoth looks away from Alton seeing interested in what Weir has said. "Then I am to assume that this settlement of yours is of Lantian design?" Questioned Oberoth seeking an answer.

Weir pauses, considering her answer. "Yes." Admitted Weir. "We discovered it on our travels, it was uninhabited, so we decided to establish a base there, but as I'm sure you know, sufficient shield generation requires tremendous amounts of power."

"Where is this settlement of yours located?" Asked Oberoth but felt more like a demand.

Alton looking at Oberoth suspiciously was wondering what he was up to. "May I ask why you care?" Demanded Alton not liking Oberoths attitude.

Before Oberoth could say, Weir held her hand up to prevent any further agitation. "It's on the outer edges of this galaxy, in an area teeming with Wraith Hive ships, which is why we need the power modules." Claimed Weir answering Oberoths question.

Oberoth turned his attention to Weir. "We are unable to part with any of our power modules." Exclaimed Oberoth not willing or wanting to give either two anything. "Our energy needs require the use of all of them."

"Well, would you consider offering your city as a place of refuge to my people if—" Started Weir but was interrupted by Oberoth.

"Many of our citizens are amused by the occasional visitor, such as yourselves, for a short time." Said Oberoth emphasizing on the limited interactions between his people and visitors.

"But not you." Stated Weir pointing out Oberoth's own dislike of strangers.

"No." Gibed Oberoth showing his distastes at the idea of entertaining lower lifeforms

Weir looked down. "No." Mimicked Weir to herself.

Alton crossed his arms. "Then I guess we can't expect to coordinate our efforts against the Wraith?" Asked Alton knowing a well military strategy is necessary to win a war.

Oberoth looks at Alton. "The very idea of continuing to work together over a protracted period of time is entirely out of the question."

"Now we have had some success fighting off the Wraith, and that has been with limited supplies and personnel." Pointed out Weir of their success despite the overwhelming odds. "I truly believe that with your assistance, we might be able to—"

Oberoth once again interrupted Weir. "I am unaccustomed to repeating myself!" Stated Oberoth not liking to have to say the same thing over and over again. "However, leader to leader, I will say this once again; we will eliminate the Wraith at a time of our choosing."

Weir feeling angry at their reluctance to help. "And you don't care how many of my people or anyone else dies while you make up your mind to act?" Fumed Weir at Oberoth's lack of empathy. "You said earlier that your brothers' greatest weakness was their arrogance; may I suggest it runs in the family?"

Weir and Alton leave the room, Oberoth watches them leave out the door.

Niam escorts the group through the corridor towards the Stargate. They are now dressed in their tac vests and gear.

"So, negotiations have failed?" Asked Dare right next to Alton.

Alton nodded his head. "Oberoth seems content in keeping his people out of the conflict with the Wraith." Explained Alton on Oberoths intentions.

"What about trade?" Stressed Dare on getting access to some of this technology. "Can you imagine what they could have that would help us?"

Alton shook his head. "He was unwilling to part with even a ZPM." Reported Alton on the private meeting he and Weir had. "Now we need to make sure these guys won't become an enemy for us."

Dare could see these people being a major threat to the UNSC as a whole then the Wraith if they ever decide to invade their galaxy. "Will just have to keep an eye on them." Suggested Dare of setting up surveillance to monitor the Asurans.

Just as the group reached the Stargate several armed Asurans surround the team. McKay and Crane raise their hands as Sheppard, Ronon, Teyla, Lang, Faison, Dare, and Alton raise their weapons. Weir stands in shock. Oberoth approaches. Niam goes to stand beside Oberoth, looking disappointed.

"Lower your weapons!" Demanded Oberoth to the group.

Alton pointed his M6H at Oberoth wanting to pull the trigger. "Captain were outnumbered and out gun." Pointed out Faison as he points his MA5D at one of the Asurans. "I can't fight and protect at the same time."

"I have to agree with the Major on this one sir." Commented Lang as she holds her own MA5D. "We might get a couple of shots off and take some down with us, but ultimately will be dead still."

Dare then leaned in whispering to Alton. "If they wanted us dead, they would have done it by now!" Stated Dare that despite the enemies' advantage they haven't shot them. "We can still get out of here."

Alton lowered his weapon listening to the advice from his people, Sheppard and his team did the same seeing no way out.

Weir then stepped forward wanting an answer. "Now I thought you didn't want us here, Oberoth?" Asked Weir.

"I don't." Stressed Oberoth at the thought of strangers continuing to stay on his planet. "But you possess information that I simply must have."

Alton stares down Oberoth sighing heavily. "Need to find a way out of here!" Said Alton to himself.

UNSC Praeter

Bridge

On the bridge of the Praeter, Captain Alton was sitting in his chair monitoring his crew, an image and transmission from Ignis base appeared on the screen attracting his attention.

Dare appeared on the screen; she was currently in the gate room on the base. "Anything yet?" Asked Dare.

Alton shook his head. "Nothing on sensors." Reported Alton, after the escape, Alton and his people returned back to Ignis base to prepare what maybe the start of a new war the UNSC was not going to be happy with. "I still can't believe we managed to escape so easily as we did."

"Clearly they underestimated us, or we overestimated their capabilities." Remarked Dare of their success in escaping. "In any case Dr. Weir and her people haven't detected anything on their end."

Alton brought his hand to his chin and began thinking of this encounter but was quickly brought back to reality. "Sir we have multiple contacts." Reported the Sensors officer.

"Hyperspace window?" Asked Alton leaning forward on his chair.

The officer's eyes widened. "Negative detecting multiple Slipspace portals opening up." Reported the officer.

Alton turned his head towards the window in shock. "Slispace?" He asked in disbelief because the only ones in this galaxy that uses Slipapce was his people.

Before he could ask who, over a dozen Slipspace portals opened and out came the terrifying sight that still haunts many people in the UETG to this day. Covenant ships appeared in their terrifying sight each one a different class of ship.

"COVENANT!" Blurted out Alton in anger as he looks to his crew. "Sound action stations, raise shields, power up weapons."

Yelena then appeared on Alton's chair. "Captain the Praeter cannot take on a Covenant armada this size." Stated Yelena of the overwhelming disadvantage they had. "We won't last long."

Alton looks at Yelena trying to calm himself and regain his composure. "I don't intend to win this fight Yelena." Stated Alton of not taking his crew on a suicide mission. "I'm trying to give our people time to escape on the planet."

"Sir Ignis base reports they have an incoming wormhole." Reported the comms officer. "They believe the Covenant are the ones doing it."

Alton looked at his officer in shock. "That's impossible!" He said perplexed at the idea. "The Covenant would have to know about the Stargates to use them."

"Sir three Ardent class ships broke off from the fleet and are heading for the planet." Yelled out the sensors officer over the alarms. "Their trajectory puts them over Ignis base."

"Launched all fighters and have them intercept those ships!" Ordered Alton as he looks at the comms officer. "Get me a secure line to Captain Dare."

The officer shook his head. "Negative Covenant are blocking transmissions." Reported the officer as he tries to break through the jamming.

Alton began thinking and slammed his fist on his chair. "Take us right at the Covenant fleet hit them with everything we got." Ordered Alton as he braces himself. "Full military thrust."

The helmsman followed the order as he pilots the Praeter towards the fleet, the weapons officer charged the macs and had missile pods prepped and ready.

The Praeter broke orbit and at full speed headed straight for the Covenant fleet firing off weapons as soon as they were in range. The Covenant returned in kind hitting the lone UNSC ships a barrage of energy weapons smashing them into the shields causing them to flare up.

Soon more Covenant ships appeared in the system surrounding the UNSC ships firing their own weapons causing strain on the shields. After continued bombardment the shields dropped allowing the energy weapons to pass unhindered as the Praeter began taking damage.

Throughout the ship sparks were flying, fires were spreading, compartments blocked off due to exposure into space. People were lying on the ground dead or injured from the attacks on the ship.

Captain Alton limping his way from the bridge to deck 20 was trying to make his way to the storage room. As he was limping the ship continued to shudder under bombardment from the attacks, blood running down his head shirt ripped open, his breathing was heavy as he gasps for air.

He walks into a room where he sees a large device sitting securely on the ground. "Yelena." Said Alton struggling to speak. "Plot a course to the Covenant fleet now."

"Captain what do you intend to do?" Asked Yelena concerned to what she was seeing.

Alton walked over and began typing away on the machine. "Initiate Cole protocol." Ordered Alton as he finishes typing on the machine ignoring her question. "Head directly to the main flagship."

Alton then slumped down sitting next to the machine as it begins to charge up. "Captain it's been an honor." Said Yelena comforting the Captain in his last moments.

"The honor was mine... to lead a crew... as great as this." Replied Alton as he stares down on the floor smiling.

As the ship hurdles itself at the Covenant flagship the machine behind Alton continues to charge up faster until a great explosion engulfs Alton in bright flash of light.

In the holding cell on the Asuran controlled city ship Alton was lying on the ground feeling sick as he places his hand on his face and looks over seeing Sheppard being tortured, but in actuality Oberoth taking his hands out of his head.

Sheppard screams in agony as Oberoth's hand pulls away from inside his head. Sheppard collapses on the cell floor. After a moment, he looks around in confusion.

"What the hell just happened?" Sheppard asked in a weaken state.

Oberoth looks at Sheppard in disdain, then steps over McKay and leaves. Other Asurans who stand over the other Atlantis and UNSC team members also leave. The Atlantis team are in the same condition as Sheppard.

"Who the hell are you people?" Demanded Sheppard at an explanation.

"They're not people." Yelled out McKay also in a weaken state. "They're machines. Replicators!"

Alton still on the ground holding himself up with his right hand. "What's a Replicator?" Asked Alton in confusion.

A conversation was being held between Niam and Oberoth along with two female Asurans.

"We should let them live!" Suggested Niam disagreeing with Oberoth on killing the humans.

Oberoth scoffed at the idea. "Letting them live is pointless." Grunted Oberoth. "Ending their lives seems to be the most prudent course."

"I disagree." Objected Niam not liking the idea of ending a life something their creators would never do. "I believe we still have a lot to learn from them."

"Learn from them?!" Said Oberoth in disdain at the thought.

"Yes!" Stressed Niam. "The People who call themselves the UNSC work with their creations instead of discarding them."

Oberoth cringed at hearing that. "Their creations... their A.I.'s are inferior to us." Remarked Oberoth of the difference between them. "And after examining the one called Dare, they would prefer to deactivate a malfunctioning A.I. when they reached operational limit instead of trying to fix them."

Niam could not argue on that, it was true the UNSC seemed content with allowing their A.I.'s to have an operational limit instead of trying to fix it allowing them to live longer and treated them as tools like how the Ancients tried with them. "They can still provide us information on how Artificial life and human life can interact peacefully."

"You call Peace, I say enslavement!" Countered Oberoth feeling the humans would only ever use them as tools of war but seeing that Niam and the other two Asurans were not going to drop the issue conceded. "Very well, keep them alive if you wish, but I shall hold you accountable."

He leans into Niam's personal space before walking away.

City Ship

Holding Cells

In the holding cell everyone was recovering from the mind probe by the Asurans, the UNSC was having a difficult time processing what happened.

"I remember us escaping this cell and heading back to Ignis base." Explaining Alton of what he experienced. "But the Covenant attacked us, even managed to block the Ignis base personnel by dialing in from somewhere."

Lang shook her head. "I remember repelling a Wraith attack on our base." Commented Lang still remembering a terrible experience as she grasps her chest. "I failed and ended up getting fed on."

Faison outside of his armor and wearing nothing but his combat skin suit was leaning on the side. "I remember launching a major offensive against a Covenant stronghold set up here in this galaxy, had to use every fire team we had for the mission." Explained Faison feeling uncomfortable outside his armor. "How the hell did these guys take my armor off?"

"I remember giving a speech on Slispace theory to the scientific community." Remarked Crane as he begins thinking. "Now that I mention it, I hate doing stuff like that."

Dare placed her hand on her head freaking out. "Oh no!" Stressed out Dare.

"What?" Asked Alton wondering why Dare was acting upset.

"They know everything!" Pointed out Dare of how big of a security leak they were. "They know about us, the UNSC, Erede-Tyrene, our whole galaxy."

The realization soon washed over Alton's face. "Shit!" Cursed Alton of how screwed they were.

Before anyone could say another word, Niam and his group arrive to take them somewhere else.

He leads them into a room where the outer wall opens to a balcony. They look out at the dark emptiness beyond.

"We're in space." Stated Weir looking at the stars visible to them through the shield.

"Amazing." Remarked Alton at the city being able to do this. "You guys told me once you can do the same things, but seeing it is something else."

"A star drive!" Blurted out McKay. "Of course, the rumbling sound we heard, with the ZedPMs, you're able to actively fly the city!"

"Yes, Doctor McKay." Replied Niam confirming McKay's theory. "Watch now as we are about to open a hyperspace window."

And on as if on cue a hyperspace window opened, and the city jumps through it travelling in hyperspace.

Everyone sees the aura of hyperspace travel all around them. Niam soon reveal the intentions of the other Asurans, how they plan to destroy Atlantis of what the Ancients did. Niam offered to reveal the truth to Weir and Alton as he extends out his hands for each one to grab, Dare was against the idea for allowing them into your mind again, but Alton wanted to know what he was dealing with, so did Weir and both took Niams hands, what seemed like forever for the two was only a minute outside.

Hyperspace

Guest Quarters

In the guest quarters Weir and Alton were recovering from the experience they went through and explained everything to both of their teams.

"So, the Ancients created these machines?" Asked Crane impressed that they created a very sophisticated A.I. "Microscopic nanites, that's something the UNSC has been working on, the closest thing we have is Nanoreagent Hydrocarbots are a suspension of nanomachines that rendered nearly all carbon heavy matter into usable fuel for the UNSC's ubiquitous internal combustion powerplants."

"We call them Replicators." Explained McKay as the Atlantis team was spread around. "They're very similar to an artificial intelligence that SG-1 encountered several years ago that evolved from a-a tiny block Replicator into human form, they may even be related somehow."

"I read those reports." Said Sheppard recollecting the time he spent on catching up on what the Stargate program was and what they achieved in the past eight years. "Stargate Command could barely defeat the human form Replicators."

Alton and the others looked at each other. "Your telling me you guys knew about these things and didn't tell us?" Accused Alton of the Atlantis team withholding information again.

Sheppard stood up from sitting on the ground. "Oh, here we go." Companied Sheppard tired of Alton and his people accusing them of hiding information. "For your information we destroyed all the replicators in our galaxy, how the hell we were supposed to know there were some here."

"We told you guys about the Covenant!" Pointed out Faison of them sharing information about an Alien empire hell bent on humanities destruction. "We didn't think they were here, but still informed you about them."

"The difference between that and this is we managed to destroy our enemy and not make peace with them." Retorted Sheppard, which made Faison walk up to Sheppard in an imposing threatening manner, only to be stop by Alton.

"When we get out of here, I expect to know everything about these Replicators!" Demanded Alton not going to take any objections from them, Sheppard looked at Weir who nods her head. "Now we need to deal with these replicators first."

"Seems to me these replicators are going rampant if you ask me." Complained Dare at seeing A.I.'s act this way and unsupervised and allowing them to exist for 10,000 years. "What the hell were the Ancients thinking?"

"Rampant?" Asked McKay in confusion

"It's a term we use when an A.I. reached their operational limit and begins thinking themselves to death going crazy in the process with a god like complex." Explained Crane as he shakes his head. "I don't think they're going rampant, the way we think A.I.'s does, these Replicators to me seem to have evolved way beyond that with, uh, interdependent organic constituents of a far greater complexity and a processing capability far greater than an A.I. Riemann Matrix."

As Crane speaks, the others notice an Asuran entering and become alert. Crane stops speaking and watches her warily. She glances at him, but her main attention is focused on Weir.

"Are you feeling better?" Asked the Replicator woman

"Yes." Replied Weir

The Asuran smiles then turns to the others. "Follow me." Asked the Replicator which prompts everyone to follow.

Storage Room

In the storage room two of the Replicators who offer to help save Atlantis along with Niam were reattaching Faison's armor onto him, they interfaced with the armor and lifted it up as if it was nothing and connected it to other pieces.

"Incredible." Blurted out Faison impressed with how they managed to handle it. "You two should come with us and help us out."

"We are happy to assist you this moment, but our ultimate goal is to ascend after this." Replied the Replicator as she finished. "If this is all we will be heading out now to prepare."

The two leave the room, giving Alton and his team time to speak. "So, Crane tell this plan?" Asked Alton putting Crane on the spot.

After Niam and the two replicators made their offer, they sought out McKay to undo the programming that causes aggression in the replicators, something they themselves cannot do, as the Ancients put in place failsafe's that prevent them from making any changes. While McKay was the one asked, Crane followed him to study the replicators as this might be the one and only chance up close and personal.

"After careful examination of the replicator base code I can say they are far more complex than anything we've ever made or encountered." Remarked Crane impressed with their design. "Good news McKay has figured out a way to freeze all the Replicators at the same time making them immobilized."

Everyone began looking at each other showing doubts on their faces. "How is that possible?" Asked Lang not convinced herself.

"Okay, even though these Replicators are each separate functioning beings, their basic command code is interconnected over a powerful subspace frequency." Explained Crane on what he discovered working with McKay. "They have these, uh, periodic collective program updates or, uh, merges, they call them, where they exchange new information, McKay figured out a way to create a glitch that, on his command, should momentarily freeze them."

"Should?" Asked Alton not liking the sound of that.

Crane brings up his tablet that was given back to him. "McKay showed me what he was planning to do, I've linked up with his Ancient scanner to know when he plans to do this." Pointed out Crane that all of this was on McKay. "I suggest we regroup with them once this works."

"How long will they be frozen?" Asked Dare about the window of opportunity they have.

Crane's happy look soon faded as he looked unsure. "I'd say less than seven minutes." answered Crane which everyone gave a stoic expression at Crane

Alton sighed heavily. "Alright let's move we won't have a lot of time." Commented Alton on the short time frame. "Will regroup with Weir and her team as soon as this thing starts."

After a few seconds Cranes tablet beeped alerting him of the freezing program activating as well as a message from McKay that they were heading to the ZPM room.

Faison places his helmet back on his head and activated his shields. "Everyone stays behind me, I'll get us all there Captain."

After regrouping with Weir and her people in the ZPM room, where Niam not affected by the program gave McKay access codes to remove the failsafe to prevent a ZPM overload. Once that was done Niam took them where they acquired all their weapons and gear, they were now heading to the Jumper bay for all of them to escape.

As the group turns around the corner, they come face to face with a frozen Oberoth.

"Hah!" Blurted out McKay in triumphant victory. "Not so arrogant now, are you?"

In that instant, Oberoth breaks free of the freezing glitch and grabs McKay by the vest.

"McKay!" Shouted out Ronon as he charges at Oberoth who tosses McKay aside. Oberoth then deflects Ronon's attack as well, throwing him to the floor with one hand. Faison with his augmented strength and speed caught Oberoth off guard punches the replicator in the chest knocking him off his feet and sending him flying slamming into a door.

"This is what you face!" Taunted Faison flexing his muscles. "A Spartan."

The other Replicators begin to overcome the programming but are slower to act. They still reach for their weapons as Sheppard and Teyla open fire with their P-90s while Dare and Lang open fire with their MA5D' Replicators still don't seem to be able to move their legs.

"We don't have time for this let's go." Ordered Alton as he fires his M6H handgun staying close to Weir.

Both groups begin running from the area they run into another corridor, sealing the door behind them with a weapon's blast. Two Replicators are already aiming weapons at them. They stop at a standoff, Teyla and Lang guarding their rear.

"Captain Alton." Yelled out Lang

Sheppard and Alton turn to see what both women noticed. The door warps and a humanoid figure seems to bulge and stretch the door. Oberoth eventually pushes his way through the sealed door. Ronon is able to stun the guards and Oberoth.

"Go!" Yelled out Sheppard prompting everyone to take advantage of the situation as they run again.

As they run the sudden flash of light passes throughout the area with a whooshing sound, signaling the exit of hyperspace.

"Don't wait for me!" Shouted McKay as he works on the controls in the puddle jumper.

"I'm just saying, if we can't get out of the jumper bay…" Began Sheppard only to be cut off by McKay.

"It doesn't matter." Pointed out McKay at the current situation. "The overload's happening now, we're about to explode.

"My god how the hell have these guys survive any mission with their bickering." Complained Faison as he hangs on.

Lang shrugs. "Let's hope we survive to find out." Suggested Lang of continuing to observe both men.

"What's wrong?" Asked Dare looking at Niam suspiciously.

"Something is happening." Replied Niam in concern.

"What is it?" Asked Teyla.

Niam continues to crick his neck. "The others on my planet." Pointed out Niam of who is responsible. "They know what I've done, I'm being reset!"

Weir panicking looks to McKay. "Rodney, do something!"

McKay reaches for his handheld computer. "It's too late." Shrieked Niam at what was being done to him. "They're…" He suddenly reaches forward at Weir, only for Faison to block and grab Niam to the rear compartment.

Niam grabs ahold of Faison's arms and begins haking into his suits armor putting it in lockdown mode freezing Faison. "He hacked my armor." shouted out Faison. "I can't move."

Lang and Dare run into the rear compartment to aid Faison and both women tornado kick Niam in the face causing him to let go of Faison. Dare use her tacpad to immediately connect into Faison's suit and activate an emergency override built into the armor and undo the lockdown.

All three rush back into the other section and seal the door shut. "That's not going to hold him!" Pointed out McKay on what Oberoth did to get through a lock door.

Sheppard reaches forward and slams a button on the pilot's control panel. In the rear compartment, the hatch blasts open, immediately decompressing the compartment and sweeping Niam into space. The puddle jumper flies away as Niam's body tumbles into dark coldness of space.

Gate Control Room

In the gate control room Alton was giving his report on what had happened and the potential of a new technologically advance enemy they now must contend with.

"So, you're telling us that not only did you make an enemy out of these machines, but they now have access to sensitive information that not only puts your crew but the UNSC as a whole in danger." Chastised Osman to how bad Alton screwed up. "Now we must be concern about these things invading our galaxy."

Alton couldn't deny the screw up he and his team made. "If we hadn't gone, they would already know about us through Dr. Weir and her people." Countered Alton of the security breach would have already occurred.

Osman shakes her head. "Not as big as the one you and Captain Dare allowed." Complained Osman clearly displeased by this. "I knew going back was a mistake."

"There was no way of foreseeing we would encounter these machines!" Pointed out Alton of the astronomical chance of this happening.

"I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one Captain Alton." Interjected Lord Hood disagreeing with Alton. "According to your information Dr. Weir and her people knew about these machines and didn't inform us."

Alton shakes his head. "With all due respect sir, Dr. Weir and her people believed the replicator threat to the universe was destroyed in their home galaxy. Said Alton defending Weir and her people. "They could not have foreseen the Ancients creating these things."

"Knowing about these replicators, you could have taken steps to better prepare yourselves." Pointed out Hood that a forewarning would have made a difference than not knowing at all. "But right now, we can't dwell on what should have been done and focus on what to do now."

Alton took a deep breath and sighed. "Now that we know about these things, Crane is working on a detection system to prevent anyone of them from breaching the gate room undetected." Explained Alton of what they were doing. "Weir and her people sent all the information they have on the replicators and I am forwarding to you now; they also possess a weapon we can use against the replicators."

This got Hood and Osman's attention. "A weapon you say?" asked Osman intrigued at this sudden information. "I assume they are going to share this weapon?"

Alton looked hesitant about it but remained firm. "It's on the table right now, but I will insist when you send an ambassador for negotiations." Declared Alton on his intentions.

Hood and Osman began thinking and nodded their heads. "As of this moment you and your team will not be given disciplinary actions, but should these replicators become a problem in this galaxy you will be held responsible for that." Threatened Osman of her intention of throwing Alton under the table.

Alton knew this was going to happened and saluted to both Admirals. "I understood, Admirals" Replied Alton

"How's Major Faison?" Asked Hood hearing about what happened.

Alton looked away feeling guilty on what happened.

Ignis Base

Quarantine Room

In the quarantine room sealed off from everything and everyone a tram of medical doctors in hazmat was attending the only patient, Major Faison lying in the bed in a coma.

Alton walks in after being decontaminated; he is also wearing a hazmat suit. "How's it coming?" Asked Alton worried about Faison on the table. "Any changes?"

Collins in a hazmat suit of her own turns to face Alton. Not good." Reported Collins a she brings up a screen of a computer scanner that shows a human figure. Red dots appear throughout the body, mostly concentrated at Faison's head and spine.

"Those are nanites?" Asked Alton displeased by what he was seeing. "How do we remove them?"

Collins began to shake her head and before she could respond, Crane arrives. "You can't!" Pointed out Crane. "Not safely anyway, not anymore." Remarked Crane as he walks into the room wearing a hazmat suit. "But we do have someone who can stop them."

Crane lifts up a UNSC data crystal and Yelena appeared from the crystal. "And I'm ready to assist Major Faison." Blurted out Yelena eager to assist.

Alton looked confused. "How is Yelena going to help Major Faison?" Asked Alton wondering how an A.I. can fix this mess.

"The nanites are connected to his brain, Major Faison being a Spartan was installed with a Spartan neural interface designed to interface with an A.I." Explained Crane on how Yelena can help. "She will interface with Faison's brain which will connect with the nanites that have infect his neurons."

Alton looked to Collins for confirmation. "Theoretically it might be possible?" Commented Collins unsure herself as this was something they never encountered before.

Alton looks at Yelena. "There could be a risk for both you and Faison considering he's been compromised." Pointed out Alton on the nanites.

Yelena looked at Faison on the table and back at Alton. "If we don't do anything he will die!" Stressed Yelena on the dangers Faison faces if they don't do nothing.

Alton took in a deep breath and sighed. "Do it." Ordered Alton.

Yelena disappeared into the crystal, Crane handed the crystal to Collins who then walked over to Faison and turned his head to the right to allow Collins access the neural interface and inserted the chip into Faison's head.

Faison's Mind

As soon as Yelena opened her eyes, she was in some kind of dream state as she begins walking down the streets of one of the human cities on Erde-Tyrene. "This is strange!" Said Yelena as she stops in front of a window looking at herself. "Let's see what this is."

Yelena then attempts to analyze what was happening around her only to be immediately grabbed by ODST's dragging her away.

"Who are you people?" Asked Yelena in a calm manner as the two ODST's drag her into a building

Faison's Mind

ODST Building

The two ODST's placed Yelena in a room and one stood by the door and another sat in a chair opposite of her. "Yelena no last name, but a known terrorist across the colonies." Pointed out the ODST.

"Terrorist?" Asked Yelena confused by this whole setting as she begins analyzing the room and the two in there with her. "What have I done exactly."

"Planting bombs, inciting riots, disrupting Law and Order." Complained the ODST as he throws down a file in front of her. "You had the gull to walk in my city as if it was nothing."

After a minute Yelena finished analyzing the room and the two ODST's and they were all programs coded in Ancient, which gave Yelena all she needed to know how to beat this game.

"I believe you have me mistaken for someone else." Remarked Yelena as she gets up from her chair and begins to walk out only to be stop by the ODST in the chair. "Big mistake."

Yelena then lifted up the ODST and throw him to the wall, while the other ODST pulls out his gun only for Yelena to shoot him first after disarming the other ODST as she tossed him to the side.

"Now where are you Faison?" Asked Yelena

Faison's Mind

Orphanage

Yelena using her knowledge from Faison's personal file went to his old childhood home an orphanage.

Yelena walks through the door and to her surprise she see a boy huddle in the corner crying as Yelena walks up to the boy she kneels down. "Major Faison?" Asked Yelena in a calm manner.

The boy does not respond only continues to cry, but just as Yelena was about to touch him, she is immediately pulled away and against the wall.

"I can't let you do that." Stated the image of Niam in front of Yelena as he holds her up against the wall. "I knew the UNSC had A.I., I just didn't know you were capable of this."

Yelena looked at Niam with anger in her eyes. "And I didn't know the Ancients failure at creating A.I. would lead to this." Gibed Yelena at the avatar of Niam.

Niam began looking angry as he begins to insert his hand into Yelena's body disrupting the lines of code throughout her body, which caused Yelena to scream in pain. "And I didn't know the UNSC made such fragile weak A.I.'s"

As Yelena screams in pain she looks at Faison who still continues to huddle in a corner crying. "Major... Faison...enlisted in... the UNSC at the age of 18... volunteered for the Spartan IV program at 28... leads fire team crystal." Yelena struggling through the pain to reach Faison. "Remember... who...you...are."

Faison began to twitch as he stops crying and listens. "The boy is far gone and can't hear you now." Bragged Niam in victory. "This body will be..."

Niam didn't finish that sentence as he was immediately grabbed behind by Spartan Faison as he throws him across the room.

Yelena falls to the ground clutching where Niam put his hands through her. "About time you got your shit together!" Complained Yelena as she gets up on her feet.

"I guess I needed someone to remind me of who I am." Replied Faison as he looks at Yelena. "Thank you!"

Yelena gives a small smile only to be distracted as Niam gets up from the ground. "Just because your back to yourself you think the two of you can beat me?" Asked Niam as he changes the scene from the orphanage to nothing but darkness.

Faison's Mind

Faison and Yelena looked at each other and back at Niam. "Not separately." Pointed out Faison.

"But together we can." Claim Yelena as she touches the back of Faison's head and disappears in the helmet.

Faison then lifts his arms in a fighting stance and smirks underneath his helmet and charges at Niam and with his right-hand punches Niam shattering the avatar into pieces.

Ignis Base

Quarantine room

In the quarantine room, Faison wakes up on the screen the nanites deactivates shutting down in Faison's system.

Alton walks up to his Spartan and holds out his hand. "Welcome back Major!" Said Alton happy to see his soldier awake and well.

Faison took his hand and shakes it. "It's good to be back sir." Said Faison happy to be here awake from that nightmare as he looks around the room. "Thank you all of you."

"Hey what about me?" Asked Yelena in his head.

Faison takes the chip out of his neural interface allowing Yelena to appear in her hologram form. That's much better not a lot of room in there to begin with."

Faison laughs as he smiles at the A.I. "Thank you Yelena."

As everyone gathers around happy to see Major Faison recover it was day to remember for all on how an A.I. and Humans can work together to overcome any obstacles.

Some of you may feel angry about this outcome, but I hope you read Oberoth's point of view on how he see's UNSC A.I. and don't just jump to conclusion on where my story is heading. I hope you enjoy the ending I wanted to do something like that with Spartan neural interface with the nanites, so something interesting to see. Osman does intend to introduce the Wraith enzyme into the Spartans, but in a controlled environment, her reason is to continue advancing Humanities greatest assets even if its using an alien substance to achieve that goal.
