A\N: I first read this amazing book: The It Girl by Ruth Ware last year and I was instantly hooked. I was shocked not to find a Fanfiction page for it, or at least a Wattpad but no. So I decided to write a oneshot about it. The pairing will ALWAYS be Hannah/Will.
For any of you amazing Angels who don't what the book is about, here's a quick summary I wrote:
Ten years have gone by since April was found in her dorm room, dead. She was found by her best friend, Hannah.
When her supposed murderer dies in prison ten years after her death, Hannah starts to question everything she knows about her best friend's murder.
She'll stop at nothing to get the truth, even if it means questioning her own husband and her friends.
But how far will she go to get to the truth?
How far is too far?
Please enjoy, Angels.
'Are- do you want me to stay? I could take April's room… or the couch.'
Hannah stared at Will in shock. Will, who was sleeping with her best friend and hugged her as she cried, had offered to stay with her so that she wasn't alone. She gave him a smile. 'Yes, please, if you don't mind.' She said gratefully. Will returned her smile. 'I don't mind.' She nodded and walked over to the couch, Will followed her. She pulled her legs up to her chest, wrapped her arms around them and rested her head on her knees with a sigh. The whole situation with John Neville had her freaked out. Why would he come into her dorm room if the door was locked? Why hadn't he left her parcel outside the door and left? Or left with the Porters? Would he come back in while her and April were in bed, asleep? What would he do to them if he did come in at night?
She shivered as the last two questions brought up unthinkable situations. Will wrapped an arm around her shoulders and she leaned into him, seeking comfort from her best friend's boyfriend. 'You okay?' Will asked her in a quiet voice. She considered lying to him and telling him that she's finer but he wouldn't believe her, even if she was fine. She shook her head.
'No, god, Will, he was in here. In my dorm room, in April's dorm room, what if we were asleep?!' Hannah's voice was hysterical the more she thought about it. Will's arm tightened around as he pressed a kiss to her hair. 'Ssh, Hannah, you're fine, he's never going to be in here again.' Will told her as she calmed down. His voice, soft and gentle, had a way of calming her and made it seem everything would be okay. A chill ran through her body as she pictured John Neville poking around two girls' dorm rooms without them there. She leaned further into his side and allowed his warm body to warm her back up as they both lapsed into silence.
She yawned, the events of the day were catching up to her but she couldn't close her eyes, not without seeing John Neville standing over her with a knife in his hand. 'Go to sleep, Hannah, I'll be here until you wake up or April comes back.' Will told her softly. She found herself nodding as she moved to put her head on his chest, her eyes drooping as she allowed his heartbeat to lull her into a light, semi-peaceful slumber.
"Goodnight, Hannah." Hannah heard Will whisper to her as he pressed another kiss to her hair. She fell asleep on Will de Chastaigne's chest.
Will smiled for the first time all day when he felt Hannah's breathing evening out as she fell asleep on his chest. He didn't mind her falling asleep on him, she clearly needed the sleep after finding John Neville in her dorm room. God he hated to see the fear on her face when he came into the room. He had wrapped her in a hug when she began to cry, letting her tears soak the shoulder of his shirt before he offered to stay with her until April came back. There was no way he'd allow her to be alone. Even if she had said no, he would've sat outside the door to make sure no one else went in without him knowing. He was surprised when she had said yes to him staying.
"Will," Hannah whimpered in her sleep, he tightened his arm around her shoulder and started to draw patterns on her shoulder. "stay." Hannah had said, Will felt his smile widening when he heard that.
"I'll stay, Hannah. I'll stay all night if you want me to." Will had replied as he felt his own eyes drooping from exhaustion.
"Goodnight, Hannah, sweet dreams." Will said before sleep also overtook him. He fell asleep with Hannah Jones asleep on his chest.
April entered her dorm room, her heels dangling from her fingers, and closed the door behind her. She smiled when she saw the two most important people in her life asleep on the couch: Hannah had her head on Will's chest and Will had an arm around Hannah's shoulder. They both looked peaceful to her. She knew Hannah was worried about a porter called John Neville, they all were worried about him, but Will was the worst after what the man said to Hannah about polite little girls. Will wanted to kill the porter for what he said but it was only after Ryan and Emily told him that if he wound up in prison, then it wouldn't help Hannah that he relented in killing the porter and focused on his friends and school.
April walked silently into Hannah's room, snagged a blanket off her bed and reentered the living room. She took a few photos of the two of them before she draped the fluffy blanket over them and left them alone to sleep the night away. She didn't wake Will up and make him leave because she knew her best friend would be up all night. She didn't know what happened to cause Will and Hannah to fall asleep on the couch but it must've been serious if the tear tracks on her best friend's face were anything to go by.
She'd leave them to sleep and then find out what in the hell happened and who made Hannah cry. No one made her family cry, because Hannah, Will, Ryan, Hugh and Emily were all a part of her family and hell would be raining down on those who hurt April Clarke-Cliveden's family.
April walked into her bedroom, after she had tucked the blanket around Hannah and Will and left the lamp on, and laid down on her bed, a smile was on her face as she thought about her two best friends asleep on the couch, both oblivious to their feelings for one another. The feelings those had for one another could be seen by her, Emily, Hugh and even Ryan.
She was glad whatever made Hannah cry, Will had stayed with her.
