Ritsuka liked reading, it was a simple but well known fact about the boy. He liked sitting down with a large book and reading it for a few hours, but he tended to avoid supernatural related subjects, the knowledge they were real just made them so less... Fantastical.
He knew what the Holy Grail was, both the real thing and the fake created by mages. The Holy Grail War, where seven magus summoned seven Servants, the spirits of heroes from legend. The last had occurred like... a decade ago? He wasn't exactly sure, and his family had no books on the subject.
He'd admit, it'd be amazing to meet a hero of legend. For a few minutes he daydreamed of commanding a powerful Servant, commanding them to strike down a powerful beast. He grinned, before frowning, even if he did decide to take part in a Holy Grail War, which was idiotic as he had no wish that he wanted granted, it'd be decades before the next one. The chances of seeing a Servant during his lifetime was zero.
Ritsuka sighed, oh well, it was a nice daydream.
Knowledge increased!
Servants: 3%.
Ritsuka ran around the lake, it was near his home and just a generally nice area to run about for his daily run. A bottle of water was the only thing he took with him during his run, nothing else was needed. He may be a bad magus, but even he was capable of dealing with a ordinary human, even if said human had knifes or a gun.
He was already rather physically fit, so running was simply just keeping his body nice and healthy. He was thinking of looking into a proper gym, but considering he'd seen be travelling to spend a year at... Wherever Chaldea was set up, there didn't seem to be a point in getting a gym membership now.
He grinned, taking a sip of his water as he took a break. He looked about, seeing some fellow runners around the lake. He did consider trying to strike up a conversation with one, but they all seemed to be focused on their own runs. Oh well, he'd just have to get back to running himself.
He got back to the the run, better get it done before he did anything else.
Parameter increased.
Physical - 21%
Ritsuka frowned, looking at the small cube of mana in his hands with a frown. He was painfully average as a magus, something that probably added to the reason his parents were so willing to let him ignore being a magus. He tried shifting the cube about, turning it into a triangle and a thin line, yet he knew this construct would fall apart quickly.
The young mage sighed, he really wished he could do better magic. He still remembered the first time he'd truly seen what a top magus could do, his family on his uncle's side was truly devoted to their craft, the barrier magecraft of the Fujimaru family taken to its greatest extremes. Barriers that were so powerful that nothing he had seen could so much as put a crack on them, barriers that instantly healed the target, or increased their strength.
Yet... He felt like that was all they had, those barriers had power yes but they still seemed so empty. What was the point in focusing on magecraft so much if it caused you to lack something as a person? Ritsuka may be average, but he still had that humanity that many of his family members seemed to lack.
He twirled his fingers about, the mana construct shifting and taking different shapes. At least it looked impressive, even if it wasn't.
Skill leveled!
Magecraft - 16%
"Gaaah! Why don't you work?!". Ritsuka glared at the torn black gloves before him, why was this so hard!? He just wanted to make some gloves that would instantly project a barrier if he held his hands out in a certain way, yet...!
Ritsuka Fujimaru had no talents towards crafting, he couldn't even create the most simple of Mystic Codes, he could barley perform the spells he knew, and creating new spells? Impossible.
He was a painfully bad magus, and he had no doubt even if his parents had tried making him learn more spells, he'd probably have failed there as well! The only talents he seemed to have was being charismatic and disguises, but magecraft? Nope!
He returned to glaring at the gloves, grabbing a sowing needle and beginning to repair the gloves. Just because they didn't work, didn't mean he'd waste a perfectly good set of gloves.
Failure! Ritsuka is a really bad magus, and sadly that means stuff like Mystic Code crafting is very hard for him to do right now. Maybe you'll get better luck next time?
Ritsuka was convinced now, Chaldea was without a doubt connected to the Moonlit world. He found the barest hints of its existence online, and what he did find hinted towards signs of magecraft. An observatory, any magus could tell you how powerful the stars were, some of the most powerful magecraft involved using the stars.
And finding out who the leaders were? The staff? He only found a single name being mentioned, the name of the director. Olga Marie Animusphere. Animusphere, Animusphere...
Wait, Ritsuka's eyes widened as he recall something he has researched earlier today, what was the name of the last Holy Grail War's winner? Marisbury Animusphere. He had no images of the man or who he suspected was probably his daughter, but what did that mean?
Chaldea had very little signs of its existence, yet it was clearly a big thing with how much support was being thrown into it. Leading into two thoughts, Marisbury had an absurd amount of money to throw around, or he used his wish on the Holy Grail to create Chaldea.
He quickly searched up Marisbury, only to come across something that threw even more confusion in. Marisbury was dead, suicide apparently. He frowned, suicide? Mages don't commit suicide, they just don't...
Something was going on here, and he didn't like it.
You guys have till the end of Chapter 3 to be ready for Chaldea, after that you'll get 1 or 2 chapters in Chaldea, and then Singularity F!
