(Clementine's Pov)
I woke up to the sound of a Walker hitting the door and I look up to see Violet as she was keeping the desk from moving back. Louis was also helping her and I quickly get up and grabbed my knife and I go over to them. I look to the window to see that there were Walkers surrounding the whole deck and I look to the Walker as it hit the window trying to break the glass.
"Fuck, how did this happen?" I asked as I helped them keep the desk to the door as the Walker kept trying to break the glass.
"Hell, if I know, I just woke up to some banging sound and I just… fucking hell." Violet says and the Walker finally was able to break the glass. I quickly get up on the desk and stabbed the Walker in the head and decided to pull it in.
"Quick, cover yourselves." I say as I cut opened the damn thing and we started to cover ourselves.
"Won't they know?" Louis asked and I shake my head.
"Walkers are blind they go mostly by scent." I explained and I get up and showed them as I stick my arm out. None of the Walkers grabbed me and I look to Louis and Violet as we moved the desk and started to walk out slowly. The Walkers would look around and leave us alone as we just kept moving. We finally get to a point in the woods were there was a pathway and I look to it and we followed the path downward. There were still Walkers here and there but at least they weren't as many as there was at the ranger tower.
"Hey what's that?" I hear and looked to see a bridged.
"Is that the bridge?" I asked as we walked up to it.
"No, the one by the school has blue paint coming off it, this is just green." Louis says and I nod and we walked across and keep going. I would look to the map here and there to make sure we wouldn't get lost and we finally get to a point where we were near the end of another cliff. There was a gunshot and we looked down to see Minerva as she had shot a Walker and we backed up a bit.
"Fucking hell." Violet says and I look to each of them and then down to see there were more Walkers by her. Surprised that the Walkers didn't go after her but I suppose she was still covered in the Walker guts.
"Let's head this way." I say pointing to the map where there was another ranger station.
"We keep going to the ranger stations." Louis says and I look to him.
"Would you like to stay out in the open? This is all we got, besides after this there is no more towers to go to so." I say as I fold up the map and we start walking. It was a good few hours for us due to the amount of Walkers but we had reached a stopping point which was one of those old campgrounds so I look to the other two and we take a break and I pulled out the map.
"Fuck my feet hurt." Louis says as he sat at the bench and I look to him as he took off his shoe.
"This is nothing." I say to him and he looked to me a bit.
"Well… yeah you're use to it." He says and I shrugged. Though he was right it didn't mean I liked the idea of walking for so long and having to keep a watch out for all types of danger.
"AJ's feet bled once, so being use to it doesn't mean we like it." I tell him and he looked to the side a bit. I shake my head and looked to see Violet come over to us.
"There's a fishing hole down that way, we could get some food probably." She says and looked to the direction of the fishing hole and I nod a bit.
"Yeah, that sounds good." I say as I get up.
"I'll be here, fucking foot hurts." Louis says and I nod.
"Look to see if there is a cabin nearby on the map at least." I tell him and he nods as he rubbed his foot and Violet and I went to the fishing hole and I grabbed my knife and the rope. Violet grabbed a stick and checked it before she handed it to me so I could tie the knife to it. We go over to the water and I look around a bit into the water.
"Need to find some knives or something." I hear Violet say as she looked into the water as well.
"If we find a cabin maybe there might be something we can use, but if we reach that ranger station there might be a kit." I say as I jabbed the knife into the water getting a fish and I pulled it out.
"Getting better at fishing." Violet says and I nod at this.
"Oh yeah, guess I am." I say and get back to work as Violet grabbed a lace from her shoe and she made sure the fish was tied up and put into the water.
"Best to keep it alive if we don't get much." She says and I nod. I hand her the makeshift spear and she grabbed it and looked into the water as I took a look around.
"Seems like a nice place to visit… you know without the Walkers." I stated and I hear the water splash as Violet jabbed the spear into it. I look to her as she pulled the spear up and had nothing and she looked around as well.
"Yeah… it's one of those nature parks part campgrounds… I think we were supposed to come here during the summer but then… Walkers came and here we are." She says and I had to laugh a little and went over to her.
"So… how are you?" I asked and she shrugged.
"Confused, scared… the usual." She says as she looked back to the water and stabbed a fish with the spear and she takes the time to get it attached to the shoe lace and hands me the spear.
"Yeah… I get that way sometimes." I tell her.
"I mean… I'm confused about Louis, and Minerva and God knows what else." She says and I take a breath and looked to the water a bit as I looked for any other fish.
"I'm confused too but just deal with it." I stated and then I think for a bit as I looked for a fish and laughed a bit. Then I laughed more.
"What's so funny?" She asked as I looked to her.
"…It's stupid… just everything is so stupid… I crash my car, a group of kids who lived on their own for years save me, I help said kids with a raider attack, and we blow up a damn boat." I laughed and shake my head.
"I actually fall for someone and then shit happens because someone is fucking jealous and I just… I just think it's fucking hilarious." I laughed and looked to her.
"It's fucking funny as fuck." I tell her.
"I guess I can see how it's funny." She says.
"Don't you think it's funny that all this shit happened?" I asked and she smiled a bit at this as we look to each other. She began to laugh and we laughed together at all of this.
"God it is funny… the fact my ex is trying to either kill me or take me to her new group, the fact I actually got to punch Louis because we both like you… god the fact that I got beat because I was being a brat." She laughed and I look to her as she looked to the water a bit as she calmed down.
"It's like we were delt with a shit hand." I say and she shakes her head it was just one of the moments where we could laugh. She was able to get another fish and we decided it would be enough for us. She handed me the spear and she grabbed the fish. When we finished, we headed back to Louis who had found one of those worker cabins. We head inside and make the food and I look to the window a bit.
"I haven't seen any Walkers or Minerva so safe to say we can stay here a bit." Louis says and I nod and look back to them.
"It would be ok for a short stay." I say and grabbed the map and set it on the ground and looked to the paper. We decided to stay here a whole day so we could actually get some good sleep and at least some energy. I woke up to someone shaking my shoulder and I look to Violet who put a finger to her mouth and I turn a bit to see Louis as he was peaking out the window a bit so I whisper.
"Walkers?" I asked and she nods at this and I grabbed my knife.
"We think we saw Minerva." She whispers to me and I move to the window and peek to see if I could find the girl but I couldn't.
"It wouldn't be safe to try and leave, but I thought we should wake you up just in case." Louis says and I nod at this.
"I don't see her… she might be hiding in the heard." I whisper and we all duck down and I look to see the desk on the side.
"Move the desk to the door." I whisper and we move quietly and picked up the desk and put it against the door. We went back to the window to make sure they didn't hear us and to our luck they didn't which was great. But the fact that we had to stay here longer pissed me off a bit. I had to get back to AJ I had to. I hear Violet move to the side and I see as she looked to the other window and then she waved me over so I tell Louis to keep watch and I go over to her.
"If there is a break in the heard we can hurry into the woods and get to the lake." She suggests and I think and look back over to Louis who looked to us.
"It sounds good but right now we have to wait for the heard to thin out and that could be hours." I tell her and she nods.
"I'll keep watch over here." She says and I nod as I go back over to Louis and look through the window a bit. I was trying to think about how we can go about this entire situation and then I see Minerva and we duck down as she turned to look at the cabin. I go over to the desk with Louis and Violet comes over just incase Minerva tried to get in. there was some banging on the door from the Walkers and I keep my back on the desk putting pressure to keep the desk in place and then there was a gunshot going through the door and I look to see it was above us. I take a quiet breath and look to see Louis as he also looked to the new hole in the door and I look to the window. I look over to Violet and she looked to me.
"Think we should?" She asked.
"Should what?" Louis asked and another shot went through and I nod to Violet as she hurried to the window and opened it. I grabbed Louis and we hurry out the window and we make a run into the woods and we run past the lake. There was another gun shot and we take cover behind a tree and I look to see Violet bleeding on her shoulder as she held it.
"Fuck you good?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine… fuck." She says as she moved her hand and then put it back where the blood was.
"Shit, she got you?" Louis asked her.
"I'm fine damn it be quiet." She tells him and we hear some Walkers and she groaned at this.
"GET OUT HERE!" We hear Minerva yell and I look to Violet as she looked to the side a bit then shook her head and a Walker had come to the side and I grabbed it stabbing it in the head and then there was a gun shot and I dropped the Walker to the ground. We stayed quiet as we tried to think about what to do but then another gun shot went off and Violet flinched. I stepped out to the side and Minerva had her gun pointed at me and I could see some Walkers around her. I could see a giant bitemark on her face as she smirked at me.
"Look Let Violet and Louis go-."
"NO!" She yells and I raise my hands up a bit.
"Come on, Violet is hurt she needs-."
"SHUT UP!" She yelled and I look to her a bit. I don't know what to do, the Walkers were getting closer and Violet and Louis step out.
"Jesus fuck." Louis says.
"You three are going to come with me." She tells us.
"She's bitten." Violet says quietly and I watch Minerva. The Walkers got closer to us and I look to the other two.
"We have to run." I say quietly as Minerva took a few steps towards us.
"Walkers are all over." Louis says.
"We have no choice." I say to him and I take a breath. Minerva was just a few more steps away as she lowered her gun and we took this time to run as she yelled at us. We had to push a few Walkers as they tried to grab us and we had gotten to a bridge.
"Fuck." I say as I see the huge gap in the middle and I look behind us to see the herd coming to us. Louis jumped across and there was another gun shot as Violet and I hit the ground to avoid getting shot but Violet looked to be in pain as she landed on her bad shoulder. I go over to her as I look to the Walkers and I helped her up and we go to the edge before a Walker got close to us, we both ended up falling into the water. To avoid getting bitten and I broke the surface and looked around as the river took us down the stream and tried to find Violet. I would dive down and look around but still nothing as I finally got to land and I kept looking.
"Fuck... fuck, fuck, fuck." I say as I keep looking. I finally see her as she was on the other side and I look to see Minerva going after her.
"VIOLET RUN!" I yelled as she quickly looked to the side just in time to get up and start running and I follow down the side of the river with her to see if there was any way for her to get over. I kept running till we reached a waterfall and we had to stop but I see Minerva as she came up t Violet who looked to her.
"MINERVA STOP THIS SHIT!" Violet yelled at her but she didn't listen as she aimed her gun at Violet.
"MINERVA STOP!" I yelled and she glared at me but looked back to Violet.
"YOU'RE SEROUSLY GOING TO KILL VIOLET OVER SOMETHING SHE DIDN'T WANT?!" I yelled as Minerva kept her gun pointed at Violet. I could see from a distance the fear that Violet had in her eyes but before anyone could say anything else Violet grabbed the end of the rifle and it went off near her head and she fell backwards down the waterfall.
"VIOLET!" I yelled as I looked down to see her hit the water. I kept looking to see her come out of the water but nothing and I look to Minerva as she turned the gun to herself and shot herself in the head. I didn't know what to do but I quickly go over to the other side and was able to grab the rifle and I checked her body for any remaining Ammo, which to my luck she had two boxes of bullets left in her jacket and I quickly go to the cliff and head down as Walkers came towards me. I was able to get down and I look up as a few Walkers decided to fall down to try and get me, in the end they would die and I look to the side and then began running down the side of the river as I tried to look for Violet. I kept going until I saw a familiar vest and I run up to see Violet as she was laying on the ground trying to catch her breath and I sighed.
"Fucking hell." I hear her say as I come up to her and she sees the gun in my hands and then to me. I see the burn mark on the side of her face from the rifle being shot so close to her head.
"How'd you get that from her?" She asked as I helped her up and she groans a bit.
"I think I broke something." She says and I look to her foot and saw she was keeping pressure off it. I take her to a rock and then took her boot off.
"She dropped it when she ran." I lied and looked to her foot then to her.
"It's not broken might be sprained, or it could be an internal break." I mutter a I looked around.
"Fuck… I can still walk just… need a bit." She says and I nod and kept looking for any other Walkers but the only ones I saw were still up at the waterfall.
"Louis, is he ok?" She asked and I look to her.
"Don't know, after we fell, I just didn't see him, hope he ran to the school." I say and she nods and I helped her as we walked in the direction of the school. We had to take a few breaks due to Violet's injury and I had her lean on a tree as I checked out the area. When I got back to her, I could see she was looking a little sick so I check her again.
"Looking for bites?" She asked and I could only nod to her and she laughed a bit.
"Fuck… I doubt I am bit." She says and I still look her over.
"Better to be safe than sorry." I tell her and she shifted a bit as I checked her shoulder that was injured. I look to it to see that the bleeding was slowed so I look at it and then to her.
"It's fine." She says and I nod as I helped her up. We had gotten into the middle of the woods where we found a barn. Must have been the barn James was talking about so I was relieved that we were close to the school. I take Violet inside since it was getting a bit dark for my comfort. I help set her to the side and locked the doors and checked any other places to make sure it was a secured as it could be. I go over to her and she looked to me a bit.
"Thanks for… helping." She says and I look to her and nod.
"Yeah, anytime." I say as I finish looking her over. I then get up and look around the barn to see if I could find anything for her foot and shoulder and I grabbed some planks of wood and some rope but no cloth and I shake my head a bit and go and help fix her foot into a makeshift splint. She helped me as she held the wood and I tied it up as best as I could and once done I look to her. She still looked a little pale and I think as I take my jacket off and place it on her and she looked to me.
"You cold?" I asked and she shook her head.
"You look pale." I tell her and she laughed.
"I'm good… feel warm." I hear her mutter quietly and I watch her as she fell asleep. I keep an eye on her and check her forehead a few times and she felt hot to the touch. I was worried she would have a fever and I look to the side a bit as I hear a few Walkers hit on the barn door which woke her up.
"It's ok, I'm watching the door." I tell her and she nods a bit and closed her eyes again. I take a breath as I watched the door a bit as another Walker hit the door and I keep my knife out just in case. I get up to walk around a bit with my legs feeling numb from sitting for so long and I would check on Violet from time to time. She woke up again to a really loud bang and she sits up a bit and I go over to her and she looked to the door where the bang was and I keep my knife to my side a bit.
"Hmm, my head hurts." She mutters and I look to her a bit.
"Like a headache?" I asked and she nods a bit and I sighed.
"Wish I had some medication." I say and she chuckled a bit and laid her head back on the wall.
"Can you feel your foot?" I asked and she moved it and nods.
"Yeah, did it move?" She asked.
"Yeah, it did." I say and look back to the barn door.
"Hm… You know you can head to the school." She says and I see her nodding off and I take a seat next to her.
"Why would I do that?" I asked.
"Safer." She says quietly and I look to her a bit.
"It's safe here for now." I tell her.
"Hmm." She hummed out and lays her head on my shoulder and I place my hand on her leg. I don't hear the Walkers banging on the barn door after a few hours so I get up and open the door slightly just to see them walking around and I closed the door as I tried to think of how to get out of this situation. I could leave Violet here while I go back to the school to get others, but I couldn't do that. I go and take a seat on the hay and look over to Violet as she shivered and I tried to look for anything to keep her warm but I still couldn't find anything useful. I hear the Walkers growling and I go over to Violet who woke up and looked around the barn a bit.
"Hey." I say as she looked to me.
"Hey." She says quietly and I check her forehead and she closed her eyes and I look to her.
"I can get to the school and get the others…. There is a lot of Walkers and I don't think you should walk much anymore." I tell her and she nods.
"Sounds good." She says tiredly and I look to her a bit.
"Did you hear what is said?" I asked her and she nods.
"What did I say?" I asked just to make sure she heard me.
"You… head to the school." She says and I wait for her to continue. When she doesn't, I spoke.
"To get the others." I tell her and she nods.
"Cause my foot." She says and I nod at this and looked to the broken roof a bit and then to her.
"Are you going to be ok on your own?" I asked and she nod.
"Just… gonna sleep this fever off." She tells me and I nod a bit and make sure the jacket was good on her and she looked to me.
"You need-."
"I'm fine, you're freezing and it's not good that I can't clean your wound." I tell her and she looked to the jacket a bit.
"I'll be fine, I've been through worse." I tell her.
"Shouldn't have to." She mutters and falls back to sleep and I look at her. I take a breath and kissed her head gently I hold her hand a bit and she opened her eyes a bit and looked to me.
"I'll… be fine… promise." She says and I look to her a bit and she nods a little.
"Promise." She mutters as she fell asleep. I felt terrible having to do this but I need to get the others to come help me. I slowly get up and head to the broken part of the roof and I look back to Violet who looked to me a bit and she nods. I exit through the roof and I see all the Walkers and I look to the back. I grabbed my knife and killed any Walker in my way. I remembered the map and hurried to the direction of the school. There were so many Walkers, just how many there were I don't know and I don't want to take the time to count them. I finally get to the school gates as the Walkers had thinned out and I get in through the gate and hurry inside the school.
"Holy shit Clem." I hear and looked to see Ruby and the others and I go up to them.
"Violet… need help now." I tell them as I take a breath.
"Where is she?" Ruby asked and I take a breath and look to her.
"Abandoned barn, she's got a fever and fuck, we got to go." I tell her.
"Ok, ok-."
"Not with that heard out." Louis says and I look to him as he looked to me.
"She could be fucking dying… and you're telling me no?" I asked him and he looked to me.
"You're telling me?... what to do?" I asked him again and he looked to the side and I look at him.
"Clem." I hear and look to AJ then to the others.
"Come on." Ruby says and I nod as Aasim, Ruby, AJ and I head out the building and to the gate.
"How bad is she?" Ruby asked.
"I… she has a burn on the side of head I think it messed with her eye, I think her foot is broken I mean she is hurt and I think she might have a fever." I tried to explain to her as we got ourselves covered in the Walker guts and I took them to the direction of the barn. When I see it in view I see a Walker going into the barn since one of the doors was wide open. I begin to panic as I hurried to the Walkers and the others helped me kill as many as we could before we closed the door. I look around to see Violet wasn't here and I searched every part of the barn to find anything.
"Did she leave?" Aasim asked.
"She was so out of it." I say and keep looking and then head to the final gated door and I see Violet as she was passed out and I hurry to open the gate and they followed me into the stable and I place my hand on Violets face. She opened her eyes and smiled a bit.
"I told you." She says and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah." I say to her quietly and Ruby comes over and checks on her. I checked her for any bites and I was so glad there was none.
"Hmm, looks like your foot is fractured." Ruby says and Violet nods a bit at this.
"Feels like it." She muttered and then shivered a bit and I moved the jacket to try and make sure the cold air didn't hit her anymore. She takes a breath and looked to the side a bit.
"Can… can we go home yet?" She asked and I look to Aasim as he was looking through the barn door and then he looked to us.
"Seems good, are we able to cover her?" He asked.
"I don't see why not, just not her face." Ruby says and I nod as AJ, Aasim and I got a Walker and dragged it in. We helped cover her and ourselves again. Violet took a bit of time to get up and Aasim and I helped her up.
"Fucking hell." Violet muttered.
"Keep pressure off the foot." Ruby says and Violet nodded as we helped her. It took us a good hour to get back to the school and once in the gate was shut and we take her into the music room to get warmed up by the fire.
"Holy fuck." Louis says and I look to him as I helped set Violet down.
"Is she ok?" Tenn asked as he came over to us.
"She's fine, just tired is all." Ruby says and Violet nodded.
"And cold… I know I needed a shower but damn." She joked and I look to her as I take a seat next to her.
"I'm fine, don't worry, I'm fine." She says and leaned her head on my shoulder a bit. I look down to her a bit and get comfortable as she fell asleep. Omar came over with some food for all of us and handed me a bowl and I set it to the side and gently shake Violet so she could eat. She would wake up for a bit but said she didn't feel like eating and then went right back to sleep and I look at her. We had taken her to her room and laid her in the bed. it was a week before she fully woke up and would talk to me or Ruby though she still seemed tired. I was currently helping her with the dressings on the side of her face.
"It's healed up nicely, can barely take see the scar." I tell her and she chuckled.
"My eye good? Like I can see some things but it's just really blurry." She says and I look at it.
"Hmm, well you won't be seeing through that eye well enough." Ruby says.
"Look, eye patch buddies." I say pointing to my own eye and she laughed.
"So when can I start walking around again? Kind of sucks being in bed for so long." Violet asked.
"Well, you are in luck, AJ and Willy found some crutches." Ruby says as she goes and grabs them and we helped Violet get up.
"Oh, thank god I needed this." She says as we head out the school. She heads over to AJ and the others and they quickly show her the drawings they made.
"Her foot will heal up in a few more weeks." Ruby tells me and I nod as I follow her to the garden as we get some vegetables for Omar.
"Well once she's healed up AJ and I are going to be heading out." I stated as I grabbed some of the basil.
"I heard… you know it's funny… none of us want you to go but… we can't stop you." She says and I look to her as she looked to the broken windows and I rubbed the back of my neck.
"Yeah, well I think we caused enough trouble for you guys, plus you all know how to defend yourselves." I tell her.
"Yeah, but it was fun having some new people here." She tells me and she looked to me.
"And if I have to be honest, I haven't seen Violet so happy." She says.
"We aren't together if that's what you mean." I tell her.
"Oh, you aren't? could have fooled me, you wouldn't stop looking at her when we got to the barn and when she was bed ridden." She tells me.
"Yeah, well Louis fucked it up with his jealousy and I for one don't like it, it's best if AJ and I just leave." I tell her.
"Well just so you know, you can always come back… we'd like to see you two alive." She says and leaves the greenhouse and I look to the small garden a bit. I sighed and take the basil over to Omar and look to AJ to see him happy talking with Tenn and even Willy. I've told him so many times we would find a home. Someplace he could grow up. Somewhere he could just be a kid and not have to worry about Walkers. The fact that we got to meet the kids was a bit of a bonus, even though AJ is only five and the others are older he made some friends. It's all I wanted for him. I head into the dorm area and go to the room AJ and I had stayed in. I looked around a bit and grabbed my old bag and took a seat on the bed as I look at it. I then looked to all the stuff we had brought in the room. It wasn't much and a lot of it wasn't useful if we took it. I looked in my bag and grabbed the picture of Lee and looked at it and set the bag to the side and held the photo in both my hands. If only he could talk to me right now and tell me what to do, what the right thing to do right now would be. I don't know how long I was in here for but I hear a knock at the door and looked to see Violet.
"Sorry didn't want to just… barge in." She says and I laughed lightly.
"You're fine." I say and looked back to the photo. I hear the crutches hit the floor as she came over to me and then she takes a seat next to me on the bed. I watch her as she placed the crutches on the side and she pats her legs and looked to the photo.
"Who's that?" She asked and I look to the photo and hand it to her so she could get a better look at the photo.
"That would be Lee." I tell her and she nods.
"It's nice to have something of people you've lost." She tells me and I look to her as she handed me the photo. She then gets up and hopped over to the nightstand and opened the drawer and pulled out a booklet and she hopped back over to me and took a seat on the bed. She takes a deep breath and handed me the book.
"Don't laugh." She says and I looked to the booklet and opened it to the first page to see what looked like Violet and Minerva when they were younger. I hold back my laugh and covered it with a cough.
"I told you not to laugh." She says and I look to her to see her smiling and I laughed a bit.
"You look so cute… long hair and all." I say and she chuckled.
"Yeah… I think I look better with short hair though." She says and I looked to the photo a bit.
"That was… when I was eleven, and I had been here for about… eight months." She says and I nod at this. I flipped through the booklet a bit and saw photos of other kids along with what's left at this school.
"We uh… I." She tried to say something but stopped and she sighed a bit.
"I know you might leave soon… and I'm not stopping you at all… just uh… wanted you to know we all will miss you and AJ when you do leave… and um… it'd be nice if you could… Visit? I mean if you can't don't go out of your way you know." She says and I look to her and nod a bit.
"Thanks… it was nice to be here… even though we had problems it was… better than what AJ and I had dealt with over the years." I tell her and she nods then grabbed her crutches.
"Sorry for interrupting you, AJ just wanted to know if you were ok, said you looked down." She says and I nod.
"Tell him I'm fine? I just want to sit here for a little bit." I tell her and she nods and leaves the room. I looked to the photo of Lee on the bed and I pick it up and looked to it again and then put it away. It was another few weeks before I had my bag packed up and I had it set on the side of the bed ready to go. I decided to head to the back of the school. It was dark out and a little cold and I see Violet as she was sitting on one of the swings on the swing set and I look to it a bit then I go take a seat next to her.
"Hey." She says quietly and she was looking up at the sky and I look up too.
"Kinda cloudy out." I say and look to her as she nods.
"Yeah… but it's still a little nice out." She tells me and I nod.
"How's your foot?" I asked.
"It's fine." She tells me.
"And your eye?" I asked.
"A little blurry… I don't think I will ever see out of it again but… nothing I can do." She tells me and I nod a bit. I think a bit and I had so many questions to ask her, but would it make anything better? Would what I say make her angry at me? what could I say to her?
"I'm sorry." She says and I look at her.
"I'm sorry for… pushing you to… I don't think it can be called dating but… I'm sorry." She says and I was confused at this.
"You didn't… I chose to be with you but… it's not your fault." I tell her and I hear her chuckle a bit and she shook her head as she held the chains.
"Sorry it's just… I don't know what to say." She says and I smile a bit.
"Neither do I." I tell her truthfully and I look to the ground as I swing a bit.
"You plan on leaving soon?" She asked and I lean back a bit.
"Hmm, yeah soon." I say quietly and then lean forward a bit and clear my throat a bit. We stayed quiet for a good while and I look back up to the clouds and take a deep breath.
"Well… since you're leaving soon, we kind of wanted to throw you a bit of a party… if you want." She says and I shake my head.
"Nah it's fine, don't need a party." I tell her and she nods.
"Got it." She says and I get up from the seat and I look to her a bit.
"It's getting a bit late, why aren't you resting?" I asked.
"Just wanted to see the stars again… but the clouds look nice too." She says as she gets up.
"And I just couldn't sleep." She says as we begin walking. I notice her limp and I feel like shit. I should have done something to stop everything from happening. I don't know. I took Violet to her room and she takes a seat on her bed and she looked to me.
"Wanna chat a bit?" She asked and I shrugged and I take a seat next to her.
"So, when exactly do you plan on leaving?" She asked and I look at her.
"You trying to figure out how long to try and convince me to stay?" I asked her and she looked to me a bit.
"Maybe a little." She tells me and I smile a bit.
"Not saying when, sorry." I tell her and she nods.
"I tried." She says and lays back on the bed a bit.
"Better luck next time… maybe I won't crash a car down a steep hill hu?" I asked and she laughed.
"Well, hello again Clem nice of you to crash in." She says and I laughed.
"Well, I just had to make my grand entrance for you guys, how would you know it's me if I didn't crash?" I asked and we both laughed a bit at this. It wasn't long till Violet had fallen asleep and I look to her a bit as she had her hands on her stomach legs crossed over each other and she was breathing softly. I look at her a bit and I lightly place my hand on top of hers and lean over a bit and gave her a kiss on the cheek. I then get up and head out the room and back to mine. Another week would pass us by and I didn't have the heart to leave, at least not yet. I still helped them, we had taken the Walker Abel out of the cellar and decided to tie him to a tree as a scarecrow for others to be weary of and currently I was with AJ and Violet as we were catching some fish.
"Hey Clem look." I hear and look to AJ as he was over on the other side of the river. I look to Violet as she looked to him then to me.
"It's fine, go see what he's found." She says and I nod as I go to the bridge and walk to the other side. AJ took me further down the river and showed me an old canoe.
"It's a boat." He says and I nod a bit.
"Yeah, seems like it." I say as I go up to it and see that it was good. Just needed a small patch to stay above the waters. AJ asked if we could use it one day and I nod but tell him to leave it here for now. He agreed and then we go back over to Violet as she walked out the shed and had grabbed the bucket of fish.
"Ready to head back?" She asked and we nod. AJ grabbed the bucket from her and ran ahead of us and I roll my eye at this and Violet laughed.
"So, what did AJ find?" Violet asked.
"Just a busted canoe, not much to salvage it." I lied and she nods.
"Yeah, we use to have canoe races in the summer, something fun for those who didn't or couldn't go back home." She says and I nod at this. It wasn't long till we get to the gate and we helped everyone out. I would spend the next few nights leaving the school and fixing up the canoe. When I was finally done, I decided to wait a day before I had grabbed my bag and looked down the empty halls of the school in the middle of the night. AJ was having a sleepover with Tenn right now. I had decided it would be best for him to stay here, they all get along, he has a place to stay, it's safe here then out there. What more could I ask for him? I sneak out the gates and head on down to the river where I had stashed the canoe and I dragged it into the waters and I was just about to grab the rope off the makeshift pole before I hear a branch snap. I look up a bit and set my bag in the canoe and looked to the woods a bit. there was no growling so I know it wasn't a Walker, it could have been just an animal.
"Clem?" I hear and turn to see Violet as she looked to me a bit then to the boat.
"Oh." I hear her say and I rubbed the back of my neck.
"Do uh… do you need me to get AJ?" She asked.
"I uh… was just making sure it wouldn't sink… we can catch bigger fish out in the waters." I lied and she looked to me and I see her shake her head.
"You don't need to lie you know… just… why leave AJ?" She asked and I sighed a bit as she comes over to me and looked to the canoe a bit.
"Honestly, it's better for him here you know? Why make him keep moving, he has friends-."
"You have friends too you know." She interrupted me and I look to her a bit.
"If… it it's because of the fight Louis and I had just forget it even happened." She tells me and I look to her.
"I… it has nothing to do with that." I tell her.
"How can, I be sure?" She asked quietly and I look to the ground a bit and rubbed my neck.
"I'm being honest when I say it's better for AJ to stay here." I tell her and we looked to each other.
"You know you don't have to leave… we like you here, and if it's safe for AJ it's safe for you too if that's what you're worried about." She tells me and I look the side a bit.
"You should head back to the school." I tell her.
"No." She says and I look at her as she looked to me.
"Vi-."
"No, I am not listening to you, you have a home and people that care for you but you're just going to leave… I don't care if you don't want to be with me I get it, I fucked it up by fighting with Louis but god damn it you can't just leave AJ here… he's going to think you abandoned him." She tells me and I look to her and moved the rope into the canoe and put my hand on it to keep it from floating off.
"Just… I just need to go." I tell her and I looked to the waters a bit then to her.
"WHAT WAS THE POINT OF YOU HELPING US IF YOU'RE JUST GOING TO FUCKING LEAVE US!" She yelled and I look to her and shake my head and I get in the canoe and grabbed the ore. I feel her grab onto the canoe and heard the water splash a bit as she got to the side and I look to her a bit.
"I'm sorry… I'm sorry ok." She says.
"It has nothing to do with you, now let go." I tell her and she looked me in the eye. She looked to the water and then to her hands as she slowly let go. I row the canoe out a bit before I turned to see Violet still in the water just looking down at it. I turn back to the front and just kept rowing down the river.
