Chapter Nine
Where were Ruby and Duckie? Petrie and his new flyer friend were so busy flying around they didn't notice their other young ones. They had completely forgotten the race. They forgot all their friends and family.
"Let's build a nest together, Petrie, dear!" Dactyla ( pterodactyl)cooed.
"Yes, my Love, but where?" Petrie muttered.
"Up there!" Dactyla recommended. They flew off to start a nest near a high mountain overlooking the Great Valley.
Ruby was waiting nearby watching them fly over as she seemed to be waiting for someone. Meanwhile, Duckie found a nice cool pond to swim in. She sighed wondering if she would ever met her handsome, big mouthed swimmer. All of a sudden, a noise came from the nearby bushes. She turned around, Could it be her friends? Could it be Petrie and that new girl flyer flying past? Could she hope it was a handsome bigmouth swimmer? Was it another swimmer? She stared at the approaching figure with cautious apprehension. Out of the thickets, came out a dark brown, grayish, muscular looking big mouth swimmer whose lips and top ridge were dark grayish green. Duckie immediately started to make herself presentable. She went up to the young handsome stranger. She smiled as she spoke. "Hello!" she battered her eyes at him.
"Why, hello," The young, dark, grayish, brown bigmouth replied back smiling. "What is your name?"
"Duckie," Duckie cooed shyly as she turned away holding her hands together.
"I'm Hadro," He went up to her face to face eyeing her back.
"OOah" Duckie giggled sweetly. She splashed him with water. He tucked and laughed returning to splash her back. "I give up," Duckie chuckled.
"I hope you would." Hadro(Hadrosaur) winked at her.
Duckie and Hadro stood in the water looking at each other and holding each other hands while giggling, and grinning ear to ear.
"Oh no," Little Foot commented as he and the others watched. Spike looked horrific with his eyes wide eyed as well as his mouth hanging open. He couldn't believe what had happened.
"What just happened?" Cera asked surprised.
"Didn't I tell you, Cera? Some leaf eaters aren't as advanced as we three horns are at romance. " Her father reminded her.
"It is so sweet!" gasped Mutt holding his hands together on his chin.
"AA!" came out of Nod.
"EEh!" was all Hyp could say in disinterest. "Let's go find us some girls like us!" Hyp told his gang. They quickly left leaving Little foot and others behind.
"Where is Ruby now?" Cera wondered.
"Probably trying to get a mate of her own." Daddy Three horn said. "I hope those three find what they are looking?"
"I hope so, too!" Cera answered.
Hyp and his gang were deciding to head back to the Flyer race. "We are never going to find girls like us here! We might as well go back to those races." Hyp complained.
"What about those sweet bubbles Spike own us?" Mutt asked.
"We will find another way to get them from him." Hyp said.
"Hyp, great idea! We will get that Spike good next time." Nod reacted.
A hard rock hit Hyp in the head.
"Ouch!"Hyp shouted. He turned to see who had struck him with a rock. He yelled as he rubbed his head. "Whose the jerk? Who did that?"
"I, was the jerk!" roared a female voice. A bossy, domineering, tough girl like Hyp came out of nowhere. She was very big, very bulky, very hideous looking Hypsilophodon female. She was a lot bigger than Hyp and older than him. "You want to make something out of it, shortie!" She growled at Hyp threateningly. Hyp trembled in fear and delight.
"Of course not." Hyp sighed lovestruck.
Hyp was in love. Nod and Muttt looked on in disbelief. Then, a fat, ugly female Nodosaurus came out of the woods commenting on Nod's appearance. She was a girl like Nod.
"Yeah! Look at that loser! He is so small. He looks like a hatchling."
The third girl that approached looked like Mutt. She went up to Mutt and said Duh.
Mutt made an expression like I finally found someone as stupid as me.
"Short me! Yeah, that's Me! Short Noddy! My friends called me Nod for short, but you can call me Noddy," Nod said to the second girl.
"My friends called me Mutty!" Mutt exclaimed.
The girl replied dully. "Duh!"
"You are?" The tough looking girl asked Hyp.
"I am Hyp." Hyp said groggily eyed.
"Hyp, huh?"
"Yup, plain old Hyp," Hyp said proudly.
" I am Hypatia." The tough girl smiled sweetly at Hyp.
"I am Ankyla." The second girl giggled at Nod. ( Nodosaurus belongs to the scientific suborder of Ankylosaurus ).
"And what is your name?" Asked Mutt to the third girl.
"Duh."She replied.
"Nice, simple, well thought out name." Mutt responded.
"Duh." She cooed loving at Mutt.
"Now, I seen everything!" Cera remarked.
Somewhere else, Ruby sighed patiently if she was waiting for someone, someone special and charming. Someone who had just appeared around her eyes' corner. She giggled shyly. She didn't want to appear she saw the stranger who was a tall, handsome fast runner. He was grayish green with a dark green crest. She battered her eyes at him and got the courage to say Hello.
"Hello!" the stranger replied, "My name is Gray."
"Gray, I am Ruby." She smiled. "You will like living here in the Great Valley." She informed. She went to explain all about the Great Valley and everyone in the Valley including Chomper. "I know it is hard to believe that a sharp tooth could be, my friend and his parents would let me take care of him in the Great Valley, but I can show you the tree we swore to be friends forever."
"That's unbelievable! A sharp tooth!" Gray asked. "The other fast runner girls only make friends with each other. How do you manage to do that?"
"Residents in the Great Valley all believe in living together peacefully and to help one another in a loving, beautiful, peaceful place."
"That's incredible! The life outside the Great Valley is very dangerous. Sometimes there is no food or no water. Sharp teeth were always hungry. They attack everything that moves whether it is an herb eater or another sharp tooth. They are always fighting each other. Food and water is so scarce that all the herb eaters will fight each other to eat and drink. The Great Valley sounds nothing like that!"
Ruby led her new friend,Gray, to the old tree where all the young ones of the Great Valley swore to be friend forever. It had gotten bigger and older, a lot bigger. It was still bigger than Little foot was. Something was on top of all the other food. It had surprised her. She didn't expect to see something like that on top of all grasses, tree stars, weeds, flowers, sweet bulbs, and roots. There lying dead and bleeding was a large, smelly belly crawler. Something had killed it and put it like food. The way the others had put their tree stars, sweet bubbles, and go forth. What or Who could have done that?
"Chomper!" was all Ruby could say out loud.
"Chomper!" Gray responded.
