This is the story of the year before the tragedy at Hope's peak academy. We follow the diary of a student that was close to Nagito Komaeda and how the despair spread through the school and then the world.

1. Chapter 1

Let's start this story from the beginning.

The beginning of the end.

More specifically, the beginning of the end of Hope's Peak Academy.

This is a book of experience and learning process.

I want to remember. I don't want every memory and emotion to vanish. That is why I will write everything daily to make sure my words are as accurate as possible.

Today, I entered Hope's Peak Academy, a school full of extremely talented students. Actually, they are the very best at their own domain of expertise. Well, I suppose I don't really need to introduce it, everybody knows it. Today, I officially became an Ultimate and I'm going to study in this institution for three years, then I graduate and as they say, I'll be set for life. I will be able to do everything I always wanted to do, for sure. I travelled so far, for so long, that I have never actually been in a school before, all I know is homeschooling. I really wonder how it is going to be to mix with other teenagers. The first thing I need to learn is how to deal with this new environment. Anyway, high school is a normal step before adult life, I'm sure it won't be too hard and time will elapse so quickly I won't realise.

Thanks to my parents' job that forced us to travel the world, I learnt over 100 languages and dialects. I don't know exactly because numbers don't matter to me. We never stayed for more than a year in a country, so I had to learn quickly. Even if moving all the time wasn't always very accomodating, at least thanks to that, I got to Hope's Peak Academy.
