Serenity _!

The moon hangs herself in the sky, its soft glow catching the surroundings in a gentle luminescence, while the stars sprinkle the Heavens like distant crystals, casting a celestial glow that protects the shadows below the park.

Gustav-Dahl Park. That's the park that now rests in tranquil stillness and silence. The trees stand tall and majestic, their branches reaching towards the sky.

Pure silence. Nothing more.

In the center of the beautiful scenery at night, two figures emerged, their footsteps quick and puposeful against the ground. As their ran, their minds were a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. One boy, one girl. Probably still in their teenage years, they were running for their life. Terror and discomfort were written on their faces, as the pace was quickening. The girl looked behind her, before patting the shoulder of the guy next to her.

They both slowed their movements, panting and gasping form all the running. They were exausted. The sound of their heart beats provided a percussive backdrop to the scene, echoing the energy coursing through their veins. Sweat formed on their foreheads, glistening like jewels in the fading moonlight.

"Monsters... haaa... again... I'm..tired.." The girl managed speak between gasps and pants. Putting her hands on her knees, she tried calming herself from all the sudden effort of running. Maybe if it was more of a regular run, she wouldn't be here all passed out and tired. But being chased down like this, by those horrific monstrosities, while hearing screams in agony, of course you'd be running for your life, while carelessly shooting them with any remaining force.

"Give me your gun." The boy said. While he was still trying to gain his breath, he extended his hand, asking for the weapon.

"Why? How am I supposed to protect myself anymore?"

"You're wasting the ammo. You don't have any idea how to shoot." He snapped, his tone harsh.

"Woah, woah, there, Simon. Are you okay? You don't seem very...alright to me right n-" The girl whispered, her voice somewhat scared, but also worried. Maybe he was exausted too, but that doesn't mean he should treat her like this. Her thoughs of worry and concern faded quickly though, as Simon suddenly yelled:

"Do I fucking look alright to you, Dani?! Don't you ever ask yourself what the fuck are we doing here? Why are we here? Don't you? You're always after me, only counting on me every time. I don't even know who are YOU to me anyway." He declared, pointing his index finger at her.

The world around her seemed to blur as her focus narrowed. Her eyes slowly started filling with small tears, but she looked away, avoiding his looks. She pulled out her small gun from her bag and handed it to him, with a small sign of sadness and frustration. Those weren't emotions caused by the fact that she didn't possessed that weapon anymore. She was hurt by his words.

The two of them met during the apartaments. Back then, she was still trying to figure out what was she doing or how did she got there. She was scared, very scared. Dani suddenly woke up in the kitchen of one of the apartaments there, next to some blades. Sitting on a hard wooden chair, she lifted her head up from her bandaged arms. Her throat was dry and her eyes were sore and hurt, probably from all the crying. But she couldn't remember anything of what had happened before.

She equipped herself with some of the self-defense weapons and started searching. Don't ask her for what. For something. Something that could lead her to something as well. But as she kept exploring the apartaments, she met with some disturbing creatures. All of them had the intention of hurting her, but she tried her best defending herself. She even found some syringes, containing doses of morphine, a substance used to relieve the pain. She didn't used them at all though, she was too scared to overdose to the point of passing out and who knows where she would end up next.

But, at one point, where she entered another weird apartament, she heard heavy footsteps towards the same door she went through. She was too wounded to fight back, so she went outside, on the balcony, so she could temporarily hide herself from the enemies. Dani heard the door being creaked open and then closed back. Her body trembled in terror, overthinking if this might be her end or not. Crouched next to the balcony bars, she held her hands together, praying for her life. Outside was cold too, she wore a zipped up hoodie over a black turtleneck shirt, that kept her neck warm. But the fact that she started sweating of terror, she felt the wind sending shivers down her spine.

She peeked though the broken window, only to see a guy. She couldn't see his face exactly, since it was pretty dark and the moonlight was reflecting the surface of the glass. He seemed to wore a grey hoodie and black pants. He also had a bag with him. On the back of the hoodie was a black pattern... it was written 'Freedom' or something...

He seemed more...human. More normal than the other... things she met up with during her search. But that didn't mean he was also friendly.

She kept her peeking posture, studying the situation. The guy was wandering around the rooms aimlessly, probably having the same objective as hers: Looking for something. Unfortunately, the door behind him was tore open, as one of the monsters, the blade lady, was sprinting towards him. She emitted piercing screams and started attacking by slashing and stabbing him with her two blade-like arms. At that point, she could also hear his grunts, but she didn't know what to do. Help him? Or...

Unable to think straight anymore, she lifted herself up from the ground and ran inside, pulling out her gun. She aimed the gun towards them. For a second, he thought she would shoot him, but, instead, he didn't felt anything anymore and opened his eyes to see the creature stabbing its neck with its blades, falling to the ground while making a painful wail.

She crouched next to him, letting him rest against a nerby wall. She pulled out a morphine syringe and handed it to him. She then ran out of the apartament, still proceeding what she had just done.

If the guy turned out to be bad, then might as well let herself die. It's not like she had any reason to live anyway.

Then, the two of them encountered a few times again, before actually sticking together. They were the only ones here actually. They wouldn't want to be alone in this whole mess.

...

Now that she remembered the moment they met each other, she let herself fall on the concrete ground, hugging her knees close to her chest, letting a few tears fall. She did understood him perfectly. Being stuck in a place like this, with horrible monsters that are chasing them.. Of course you would be mad and tired of everything. But she just tried to help as much as she could. She really thought she was making progress as a friend. But seems like she was wrong.

She failed as a friend again. Actually, did he ever considered her a friend? If not, then she failed at being useful.

She laid against the cold statue in the park, looking over at the beautiful sky. Stars. Stars sometimes reminds her of constellations that form stories in the sky, connecting them to create figures of myth and wonder.

Leaves rustle faintly in the breeze, whispering secrets to one another. Dani rubs her own arms, warming herself up. The night breeze carries with it a touch of coolness, brushing against her skin with a gentle, but cold, caress.

She could already hear the crickets, filling the air with a soothing chorus of chirps and calls. The sound carries a sense of rhythm, like a lullaby designed to lure the world to sleep, as she struggled to stay awake.

Just as she was ready to close her eyes, a black cat gracefully emerges from the shadows. Her meows alerted the two teenagers, as their attention drifted towards it. Silently, the black cat steps onto the concrete path that winds through the peaceful park. Its eyes, shining in the moonlight, scans the surroundings with a mixture of curiosity and confidence.

As the cat's paws touch the ground, the silence is broken by a soft, melodic and cute meow. It turns to Simon, who was now sitting as well on the hard ground, not too far away from the girl. He began questioning his actions, taking a few looks at the girls beside him.

The cat meowned one more time, before setting itself in his lap, purring, its tail flicking gracefully. Simon started petting the cat before he got an idea.

He carefully lifted the small cat, as he moved closer and closer to the girl, their shoulders now touching. He, then, tapped her shoulder, drifting her attention towards him now. She lifted up her head from the darkness of her arms, taken by surprise by the sudden lights of the park. She turned her head, her eyes now half open.

Simon gently picked up the cat and gave it to her. Her eyes opened slowly, as she felt the soft fur beneath her fingers. She pets the cat, who was now laying on both of their laps, purring and giving them small meows. They both melted at its cuteness, both being also cat persons.

Simon drifted his attention to the girl again, studying her features. He felt bad for yelling at her like that. She wasn't really that bad of a shooter. If she really was, then she wouldn't have been able to aim towards the enemy the first time they met. Not to mention how many times she saved him from the mess he was getting into. He had no right to treat her that way.

He muttered a small 'I'm sorry', loud enough for her to hear, before putting an arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer. He embraced her from the side, enveloping her, as the atmosphere was filled with a sense of comfort and affection. The world outside seems to fade into the background, suprising the girl he just embraced. Her eyes widens, but she accepts his apology, letting her head rest against his chest, where she can the rhythmic beat of his heart.

The boy's fingers trace patterns on the girl's back, coveying his emotions without words. Dani finally felt safe and warm. She hesitated a bit, before taking his other hand, her fingers tracing funny movements on his hand, before their fingers interlacing together in a silent dance of connection, while her other hand was petting the sleepy cat on their laps.

Time seems to slow down, as they both cherish this moment of closeness. She never felt this close to someone ever before. She never even expected him to do something like that. But it doesn't matter, because now they are protecting eachother form the worries of the outside world.

In their own world, there are no monsters that aim to kill them, no more stressful situations, no more hurtful words, no more psychopaths. Just the two of them, and the cat. :3

Outside, the night air is cruel, but within the warmth of their embrace, they are shilded from the cold.

Their breathing syncs, creating a harmonious rythm between them. Dani yawns first, followed by Simon next. The girl's eyes grow heavier as the weight of those scary events gives way to a sense of horror. She snuggles closer to the boy, seeking the warmth and security of his presence. His body finally relaxes a bit against the hard rock of the statue, his eyelids closing as well.

And so, in the quiet intimacy of their embrace, they find themselves surrendering to the sleep's embrace, drifting into the peaceful world of dreams, under the moonlight. :)
