#FirstDay

Metropolis. The City of Tomorrow. Indeed, it had some things very unexpected that seemed to showcase how the city was different in a certain way. A city, taken not only by slogan, but how everything around had a few situations, that could be taken in a way no one could hope for. This city had a protector. His name was Superman. Indeed, certain situations called for a spot. In very TV around the city, Lexcorp promos. And the dawn of a new day for the citizens.

In a car, one girl, with long hair, blonde, hidden around a purple hood, looked around the city, seeing how things were different for her. To this quiet, unusual girl, it was clear to her that all around her was changing. She looked to the buildings around, and seeing a TV set on the News channel, the girl started to see the latest reports about superhero activity around Metropolis.

"Many wonder about the actions of these superheroes that have been popping up all over town. More precisely, in a way that they cannot even imagine. In these last months, more superheroes, besides Superman, started to show up around Metropolis, but once in specific has catched the attention of the general public." The girl looked the silhouette of a woman, on which she started to fight a monster, cutting the tentacles in his body and with this, made the enemy to run away. – "But of all the heroes, there is only one question on the minds of all the citizens of Metropolis: Who is this Wonder Woman? What is her true mission in our city?"

"Gwen, sweetie, you're okay?" A man started to look behind the vehicle, on which the girl, just looked to him, forcing her greatest smile.

"Yes, Dad. I'm fine."

Meet Gwen Stacy. A girl unlike any other. One amazing person, of a personality that seemed to show how things were different in her vision. Unlike certain spots, to Gwen, she started to look around, even if it could be a new bginning.

"Okay, let's do things different. Like, way, way different." Her memories started to come between her mind, on which she just looked on the city, in a way that seemed to be her most deep feeling on which things were more unexpected than the usual. "My name is Gwen Stacy. I've been bitten by a radioactive spider. And for one year, I've been the one and only Spider-Woman." On her memories, she felt herself at Oscorp, on which a spider climbed between her right arm, biting her, and making a mark around the arm that left her in shock. Reminding of how she made her suit, the web shooters, Gwen reminded how things went in her life. – "In one moment, everything around me changed. I've developed powers, and things in my old city, New York, were perfect in certain things. I was part of a band, best drummer in the school, and had a best friend that I counted on certain things: Peter Parker. The boy on which I could hope for everything. Although things weren't easy for both of us." At school, Gwen could see certain figures. Picking on certain people, including Peter, on which the blonde girl stood forward, always defending the ones she cared about. "With my powers, I did certain things. Helped to save the city, more than once, defeated bad guys, like the Green Goblin, Electro, Shocker, and certain people from my rogues gallery, that seemed to be only a villain of the week and indeed, I went beyond, and dealt with certain unexpected situations. But the relationship with my father, with this mask, was tense. He saw my persona as a menace to the city and things were difficult, with that tough J. Jonah Jameson tarnishing my reputation most times." Reminding her battles against her gallery, Gwen just smiled, seeing how things were before everything went wrong. And then, her mind made her return to the darkest moment of her entire life, holding a body in her arms, taken by pain. No matter what happened, Gwen saw the people around her, looking, seeing just a dead person, and a heroine that seemed to have broken a rule. – "However, the one person that I couldn't save was my best friend. When Peter died, a part of me seemed to been gone too. No matter what happened, everything went wrong. The people in New York became divided. Some still supporting me and others, hating me from the first moment they thought Spider-Woman was a murderer. Everything that could happen, it happened in the worst way possible. Well, I tried to juggle things in the best situation that I could expect, however, it became tough to keep this. Then, my father happened to accept a position as Captain from a police department in Metropolis. During the half of the school year. It's been three months since I haven't suited up as Spider-Woman. Maybe it's for the best. No matter what I do, what I try to make, people still see what they want to see. When it started, it was fun. However, with all the troubles that appeared in front of me, the loss of my best friend, one question taken my mind, one day at a time: Why do I really do this? What really motivates me? These powers, most times, they've become a curse in my life. Because these are people doubting me. And my greatest trouble, is that I can't be honest with the ones I love and care about. My friends in New York, my parents, everyone. How would they deal with a person like me, full of secrets?"

"I know you're a little mad about this change of scenario, Gwen, but I think that both of us needed this. And I know that you still think about what happened."

"I'm leaving New York behind, Dad. But the biggest issue is, that I'm transferring schools in the middle of the year. And the trouble here is that I have to adapt myself in this new school!" Her dad, George Stacy, was a police officer. Accepting a position as captain of a police departament in Metropolis, seemed to be taking care on how things were smooth, in his Opinion. A chance for a fresh start.

"Look, Gwen, it's not easy. To be honest, I've dealt with certain situations, just like you, when I was your age. Trust me, it's something that we aren't used to, but when we change from a city to other one, we have to adapt ourselves and I dealt with these issues, with responsibility."

"No, not like I did before." Her secrets could take a toll on Gwen, most times, she crossed her arms, almost like if she was worried. – "In this city, I don't know anyone. But I think I need to find my own group if I want things to work right in my life for once."

"I understand. Finding new friends in a different city can be tough, but the daughter I raised, she always would find a way to fit in and find a group. Even if you're away from your friends in New York, there's always some surprises when we're dealing with the unexpected. You will find your group, Gwen. Believe me when I say this. A father always know what will happen."

"If you're saying so, then ok. New school, new friends, it can't be so much difficult to juggle all of this, right? I mean, what can go wrong on this one?"

Reaching the school, Gwen started to look the place, almost taken by a certain sentiment of doubts in her mind. A fresh start. It was like to admit to herself that she was all alone in her own world. In her own vision, it was a little blue around. A melancolic one. A world, to her, taken by grief and incertanity, in a tone of colors that showcased how her world was lonely now. However, shaking her head, Gwen brought herself back to reality.

"Truth be told, I never found the right band to set myself in. And in this line of job, loneliness is something we can expect. Being Spider-Woman to me, was a thing I had to carry on my shoulders, without letting anyone knowing who I was." She looked around, with a bag on her front, trying to understand what to do and with this, Gwen looked to her agenda, seeing her first classes around the school. – "To be who I am, I have to be another person. And no one could see who I really was. Not my father, not Peter, before he died, my old friends, no one. And it was a burden most times. To be a heroine, it seems that a sacrifice has to be made when things become tough. Juggle secrets, my personal life, had some issues. These months when I decided to quit on what I was doing, it made me wonder about certain questions: What could happen now? No one here would know that Spider-Woman was between them in Metropolis and I think I want to keep this for a long time. At first, it was fun. And then... it wasn't. No longer." Looking at herself in a mirror that was in her bag, in her mind, she saw two parts on it. On the left, her true face, the right, Spider-Woman, showcasing the duality on her life. – "No one tells how this life is lonely, at first. You think even when you're saving lives, you can have fun sometimes, but... I don't know. Maybe it's not for me. This job, in a city like this, full of heroes, maybe somebody else can do this. It will be that much easy."

While being carried by her thoughts, suddenly, her Spider-Sense started to tingle and with this, Gwen saw a car near her, stopping, on which she threw herself on the floor, dodging with a certain instinct that made her even surprised, noticing how things would go with her powers. Then, seeing a girl, red-haired, with a purple hood, coming out of the car, she extended one of her hands to Gwen.

"Are you okay?" In a reluctant way, Gwen took her hand, getting up.

"Yes. I was just a little distracted."

"Sometimes, it happens. Truth be told, I'm a little more worried about what will happen. It's my first day here, and my dad just seemed to have accepted a job and decided to transfer me to another school in the middle of the school year."

"You too? Thought I would be the only one here." Gwen said, on which the red-headed girl looked to the blonde, almost surprised.

"It's a coincidence, I know, and seeing someone here, in the same situation, is kinda surprising. But how did you knew that you had to dodge the car now?" The girl asked and with this, Gwen stood nervous, until she regained her composure.

"Instincts. My dad always taught me how to keep my eyes focused on all the places, just to make sure that I wouldn't be in danger. He's here, because his job required a little transfer from the comfort zone." She said, hiding the real motive on why she was in Metropolis. How Gwen could be honest on certain situations, without saying what happened to the people closest to her?

"And what is your dad's job? Just for curiosity."

"Police captain. In a district here in the city."

"No kidding! My dad will be Comissioner! He accepted to work here in Metropolis, in command of every police officer around the city. Another coincidence?" Gwen just laughed, until she noticed that really were coincidences around the talk.

"Well, what would be the odds that our fathers worked in the police force and would be promoted?"

"Where you're from, exactly?"

"New York. And..." Before she could talk, Gwen reminded herself from the last time she started to be more open about what happened.

"And?"

"Nothing. Forget it."

"You're funny, know that? I'm Barbara. Barbara Gordon, by the way."

"Gwen. Gwen Stacy. I don't think you want to be late for the first class, Barbara. And neither do I."

"I can go with you, if you want to continue our talk. Even with the superheroes around the city." She just stopped, looking to the school, almost as a reminder.

"Don't worry. I can find my own way."

She just started to walk away, almost remembering what happened. Even though she wanted to back off from certain talks, talking about heroes always had her heart, acelerated, as a part of the memories in New York and the last time she wore her suit. To Gwen, a memory, and a reminder of how she wanted to keep things in control and be herself, without the worries about being a heroine.

"That's the irony on the place I live now. How do you keep quiet about heroes, in a city that's swarmed by them? Superman, Aquaman, and now this Wonder Woman, seems that everything around attracts them." Looking to the people around gossiping about the heroes in Metropolis, Gwen did her best to avoid the talk, in a way that seemed to showcase the lonely feelings around her body. – "Indeed, there is more than meets the eye and to me, it was how it would start. Not with a radioactive spider, but how things went. Fun and games, etc. But not to me. I need to back away from all of this. Just for a while. People can live without Spider-Woman, for the time they want and need to be. I'm just gonna give them, their greatest wish."

Following the agenda in her hand, Gwen went from class to class, and at the cafeteria, she sat at a table, by herself, looking to the place in a way that seemed to put in motion how she wanted to be alone. Spaghetti, a glass of water, the blonde girl just saw everyone around, in a way that seemed to be more normal than she could expect. Just a normal girl, with a normal life. At least, that's how she wanted it to be. Starting to think about everything, Gwen took her mind off the memories that affected her, in the past, and started to see the people around, almost noticing about them gossiping about heroes.

Looking to the tray, with a fork in her hand, before she could started to eat, somehow, her mind became taken by a tingle, her Spider-Sense in motion, almost thinking on what was happening. Suddenly, seeing a tray flying on her direction, she ducked under the table, avoiding the impact. Seeing Barbara with another tray, she stood in shock on what was happening. And with this, spaghetti was threw in a girl with a jacket, blonde and short hair, who turned around, seeing the situation. That was Kara Danvers and her anger, seemed to be growing in a way that left Gwen surprised at the scene.

"Wanna throw food at Kara Danvers?"

Seeing Barbara almost being hit by the food, Gwen put her tray ahead, and looked to Kara, trying to calm her, until she started to throw more food around, seeing a girl, named Karen, about to be hit by the food thrown by Kara, Gwen threw the tray in her hand, stopping the impact, until more spaghetti almost hit her, until a girl with a green dress and brown hair appeared, her name was Jessica Cruz.

"Leave them alone!"

"My hair!" A purple-haired girl, by the name of Zee Zatara said, on which her hair was covered in spaghetti. – "My hair!"

A food fight started, on which Gwen decided to strike back, hitting everyone around with spaghetti and what were in the trays, until out of nowhere, Mr. Chapin appeared on the place, whistling and making the fight stop. Then, the six girls around stopped the fight, noticing the situation they were now.

"And that's not how I thought my first day would be in this school. Funny thing is, it seems that the troubles always have a knack for finding me. But this... this was another level."

On the detention room, silence had taken the girls. After taking their seats, Gwen just crossed her arms, in disbelief on what's happened. In her first day, getting detention would not be a good way to start in a new school. Even though she was trying to hide her issues, it was clear that the troubles were following Gwen in ways that she couldn't expect.

"I hope you all have good attorneys!" Zee started to talk, until everyone looked to each other, more nervous than the expected.

"What are you going to do? Sue me for having better aim than you?

"I knew you threw those potatoes!" Zee looked to Kara, noticing how the talk was going.

"You know, this is just starting to get interesting." Gwen said, seeing the girls around and how the discussion was going in this story, which Drew the attention of all of them. – "What? I don't know where this will go, but..."

"I see. You tried to throw something at me, right?" Kara asked, which made Gwen look to the girl, irritated.

"Just because you tried to hit me with food and tried to hit other people who weren't involved with this story!" To Gwen, at that point, it was clear how she and Kara weren't getting along, even though she was in detention, no matter what happened, the two looked to each other, irritated, with their personalities clashing in a way no one could expect.

"Now, let's not start fighting again!"

"You threw more nuggets than anyone!" Kara talked to Jessica, noticing the irony on the conversation.

"Um, for the record, if I offended anyone, I'm truly sorry." Karen tried to say something, almost in a thinking that seemed to showcase how shy she was now, seeing how they were in deeper trouble than the usual.

Before the talk could go any further, Mr. Chapin entered the room, alongside with a police officer, on which a girl with a black hood was between them, making the group surprised on the scene that they were seeing now.

"We just found her walking around the streets, Mr. Chapin."

"Cutting class on the first day of school. Stay here with the other delinquents while I find out on which class you're in."

Leaving the girl on the room, she took off her hood, revealing her red and blue armor, with golden details, tall, and a beautiful hair that left everyone in awe on what they were seeing in this situation."

"Wow... That's..." Gwen started to gasp, in disbelief.

"That's... She's... She is..." Karen struggled to say the words, on which Zee smiled, looking to the girl in front of them.

"Beautiful."

"Is that..."

"The Wonder Woman." Everyone stood in disbelief, almost like a shockwave was passing through them, even Gwen looked to the girl in front of her, surprised in seeing a heroine between her and the group. However, this started to increase her concerns about what could happen now.

"This is the part where I say that certain things can go wrong, even if you're trying to keep a low profile. It was supposed to be just a normal day, no worries, no troubles, but, man, did I really had to be that wrong about how stuff would go? First, it was this change, now detention, and to increase all of my concerns, a heroine, in all her glory, was between us. Yeah, that's a strange first day. Want to see what happens next? My story here is, by far, more wild than you can expect. And truth be told, the madness, in my humble opinion, was just beginning."

To be continued...
