"Blue ones next papa," A little girl with bright red hair said, jumping up and down in her pj's as she watched her dad make bubbles pour from his wand.

A woman with similar red hair, unmistakably her mother, stuck her head into the room, watching as the baby sitting on the couch giggled as a green bubble popped on his nose. "James!" She scolded the man with messy hair. "You know better than to get Artemis riled up before bedtime." She walked completely into the room, setting her wand down on the nightstand.

The little girl, no older than three, walked over to her little brother and allowed him to wrap his tiny hand around her slender finger. "Come on Lily," She heard her father say, changing the bubbles to colorful swirls of light.

"Harry wants to see birds, Papa!" She said, climbing onto the couch to sit beside her sibling and bouncing up and down on her knees.

James laughed. "Anything you want, Love," He said, rubbing her red hair. Harry giggled, clapping his hands, bouncing as if trying to copy his sister.

"Come on Artemis," Lily said, rolling her eyes lovingly at her husband. "Time for bed." She bent down and picked Harry up, and then offered her hand to her daughter.

"Five more minutes, Mumma", she pleaded, sticking out her lower lip.

She laughed shaking her head as she reached for her wand, sticking it into her back pocket. James came up behind his daughter and scooped her up into his arms. "Come on you little imp," he said, tossing his wand onto the couch and heading towards the stairs. suddenly the power flickered for a moment then went out completely. Artemis could feel her father's grip on her tighten as both he and Lily turned toward the door. Blue light suddenly burst through it, in the shape of a big dog, somewhat hazy as if hastily made.

The familiar voice of the beloved godfather-Sirius- echoed through the room as they looked on in horror. "Run... Just run!!!" It said, before disappearing. With only a quick glance toward each other, the young couple started running up the stairs, hoping to barricade themselves in. Something was banging on the door, and James halted, setting his little girl down.

"Lily you take the kids and get out. I'll hold him off and meet up with you." He kissed her quickly on the cheek and then kissed Harry and Artemis before heading back downstairs.

"Mama?" Artemis sniffed, trying to reach for her hand.

"Shush, honey, we have to move quickly now." She followed after her mother as quickly as her three-year-old legs could carry her. Her mom's wandfell out of her pocket as the pounding on the door on the floor below them. Artemis retrieved the wand as the pounding turned into crashing. By the time the crashing subsided, they were behind the door of her bedroom. Her mom set Harry down on Artemis' bed and frantically started reaching for her back pockets in search of her wand. "Where the bloody hell is it?" She mumbled under her breath as she scanned the dark ground in search of it.

"Mum?" Artemis said, trying to hand the item back to her mother. Her mom shot a distracted smile in her direction but ignored her wand and started barricading the door. Still gripping the wand tightly, Artemis ran over to her brother and picked him up before running to the farthest spot from the door, right in front of the window.

A loud thud was heard downstairs and then there was nothing. The sound of her mother's frantic breathing filled her ears and suddenly, the door burst open in a flash of blue light. "Stand aside foolish girl," A man hissed, clothed in dark robes. Harry whimpered and buried his head into his sister's neck, placing his tiny arms on her chest. Still holding him up she also held on to the wand as tightly as her little hands could.

"Please don't touch my babies... Take me instead! Please take me, they can't hurt you they are of no threat!"Artemis heard her mom pleading with the man.

"I said stand aside! Or you will be joining your husband shortly!" Hehissed again, seeming to enjoy her pleas for help.

Lily shook her head, and kept pleading, sounding close to crying but still refusing to letthe tears fall.

"One lastchance," He suddenly seemed bored of the game. Hands clasped Lily begged for the safety of her kids, but she was cut short by a lazy flick of his wand a giant flash of greenlight that filled the room. The suddenbrightness and the force of the spell knocked Artemis down, still holding her little brother as well as the wand. The room was silent as the man lowered his wand and turned his attention to thetoddler, struggling to get back on her feet while brandishing the wand in his direction. He came and stood over her, as she finally managed to get to her feet, her back now pressed firmly against the wall.

The man lowered his hood, looking incredibly young for the deed hehad just done. Brown eyes looked down at her as he reached his wand out tobrush a strand of her red hair behind her ear but barely managed it as she jerked her head away from him, holding her brother close to her.

"Don'ttouch us," She said, her voice filled with venom.

A smilestole across the young face, though it seemedjoyless on him, as he lowered his wand. "What'syour name, littleone," He said, his voice no longer a hiss, but still holding no warmth.

All she did was glare up at him, and the smirk on his face faded. "Answer me!" He snapped, grabbing her left wrist, knocking the wand away as he did so. "Artemis Lilliana Potter," She whispered, grimacing at the pain she felt as he twisted her arm.

Hesmiled again releasing her arm and standing up. "I have something planned for you, youngArtemis, but first." He pointed his wand at theinfant in her arms and shethrewherself on thegroundto coverhim.Yanking the girl off the ground by her hair, he heldthe tip of his wand right in thecenter ofthe child's forehead and shouted, "AvadaKadavra!"Screaming out her brother's name,Artemissaw the world turn green and felt a deep pain on herarm as she reached up to tryto knock the wand away, then the room grew dark.
