If you start to feel really bad for Pinch and her family reading this chapter I do not blame you at all but dont worry they'll be fine but now we see what will happen to their house in this chapter (I kinda spoiled it in the chapter title because I wanted to make a steamed hams reference lol)
Walter: *Comes home* Wanda! Lads! Im home!
Wanda: Oh hello honey! I was just getting dinner ready *Kisses him* I gotta go upstairs for a bit can you watch over the oven while im gone?
Walter: Sure thing honey *Yawns* im gonna head off to bed after dinner though..
Scootch: YAAAAAAAAAH *Runs in to hug Walter*
Walter: Oh hello to ye too little lad! *Picks him up* say wheres Pinch?
Wanda: Shes outside with her friends
Walter: Alright well I'll be sure to call her in when supper's ready!
(Author's note: Walter is Irish or Scottish I think judging from his accent in the show so thats why he speaks differently from the others)
Wanda: Thanks hon and make sure Scootch doesnt get too close to the oven! *Goes upstairs*
Walter: Mhm can do..
*After a bit Walter begins to fall asleep since hes so tired from work and Scootch goes off to play with his toys but as hes dozing off the food begins to burn in the oven*
Scootch: Hehehehe! *Playing*
*Scootch then smells something and sees the food starting to catch on fire so he runs up to Walter and tries to wake him up*
Scootch: Daddy! *Tugs on his uniform to no avail so he runs upstairs to try and tell Wanda about the oven*
Wanda: *Calling Opal* Im just getting worried about Walter ya know.. he loves his job but they keep making him work so late and im worried he'll start sleeping at the wrong time..
Opal: I see what you mean Wanda.. well just talk to Walter and see if he can talk with his boss about better hours at the recycling plant
Wanda: I'll see what I can do-
Scootch: Mommy! Mommy!
Wanda: Oh hold on Opal my son is up here
Opal: No worries take your time!
Wanda: Thanks! Yes Scootch?
Scootch: Mommy! *Not knowing what to say since he has a limited vocabulary he starts pointing downstairs*
Wanda: Sorry I cant play right now im on the phone with Mrs Otter
Scootch: No! *Points to his nose and starts sniffing*
Wanda: Is something wrong with your nose?
Scootch: No! *Sniffs*
Opal: Is everything ok Wanda?
Wanda: I dont know.. Scootch keeps pointing to his nose and sniffing and he wants me to go downstairs he looks very worried
Opal: I think hes trying to tell you something's wrong
Wanda: I think so too but I dont know what it is since he cant communicate much right now
Opal: He may not be able to verbally communicate much but kids can always tell when something isnt right Peanut was the same way when he was Scootch's age
Wanda: Really? So Scootch is saying theres something wrong?
Opal: Yes he is *Smelling something from outside* In fact.. *Looks out window* I think I see what hes trying to tell you!
Scootch: *Pulling Wanda's hand towards him*
Wanda: You do?- woah! Scootch! *They go downstairs*
Scootch: Look!
Wanda: What is- *GASP* the oven's on fire! Walter!
Walter: *Waking up* Huh what is- OH MY WORD!
Wanda: Walter I thought you were watching over the oven!
Walter: I was honey really I was! I guess I fell asleep..
*The fire keeps getting worse*
Peanut: *Seeing the smoke coming from Pinch's house* Watch otter alert! Watch otter alert!
Flick: What is it now this whole watch duck business is making me bored and tired!
Peanut: Look! *Points to Pinch's house*
Pinch: AHHHHHHHH MY HOUSE IS ON FIRE! AND MY FAMILY'S IN THERE WHAT DO WE DO!
Munchy: AHHH I cant watch! *Munching on wood fast*
Pinch: We gotta think of something and fast!
Jelly: Ok guys its time for a noodle dance!
Peanut: A noodle dance?! Right now?! I already know what we have to do if you guys would just listen to me!
Jelly: We can think of a way to save Pinch's house faster that way! Come on hurry!
Peanut: I'll use my noodle but im not dancing this is too serious for that!
*They all start dancing and yes including Peanut*
Chorus: Noodle! Use your noodle! Noodle! Do the noodle dance!
Jelly: *Gets an idea* I got it!
Peanut: What- what happened what!
Jelly: We get Commander Casserole to come and take out the fire with his superpowers and the day is saved! Then we can hire him as the new watch guard!
Peanut: Dont be ridiculous Jelly! Commander Casserole isnt even real!
Jelly: Oh yeah..
Peanut: We gotta-
Flick: And who cares about boring old Commander Casserole when Bucky Spacebeaver can save the house way faster!
Jelly: Could not!
Flick: Could too!
*They start arguing as Munchy is eating wood out of nervousness and Pinch is getting even more worried seeing her house with smoke coming out of it*
Peanut: *Gets Crane's megaphone* ENOUGH EVERYONE!
*They all listen and they see Peanut's mad*
Peanut: I've been trying to tell all of you ALL DARN DAY that if theres an emergency we go get Mrs Crane but no you guys all thought we could do it by ourselves!
Flick: And we did didnt we?
Peanut: Well- yeah.. but thats not the point! The point is THIS is not something us kids can do alone! And all you guys have done is ignore me! We cant do everything! Sometimes we need to ask an adult for help and its either we do that or go in there not knowing what we're doing and go down with the house and Pinch's family! Do you want that?!
Everyone: No..
Peanut: Ok so you guys better listen because we dont have much time here! We go down and get Mrs Crane and tell her whats happening then we go to my dad's store and get a fire extinguisher and buckets to scoop the water from the lake and have Mrs Crane and any other adults put out the fire! Is that understood?
Everyone: Yes sir watch otter Peanut!
Peanut: Great! Now lets go save Pinch's family and the house!
*They go down to tell Connie about the fire*
Pinch: Mrs Crane! Mrs Crane!
Connie: I overheard you guys from down here! We got no time to waste so lets go put out that fire!
*Connie goes to the Raccoons boat house and tries to save everyone in there since they dont have a fire extinguisher meanwhile the kids go to Ernest's store*
Ernest: Oodelay kids! Hows it-
Peanut: DAD DAD DAD ITS AN EMERGENCY
Jelly: WE NEED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER
Ernest: A fire extinguisher?
Pinch: YES BECAUSE MY HOUSE IS ON FIRE
Ernest: Oh dear! I got one right here! *Gets extinguisher* now we better hurry!
*They all rush to Pinch's house as everyone is watching*
Ernest: Dont worry everyone I got the extinguisher! *Puts on mask* I'll go in there with Opal and Betty-Lou and put out the fire!
Jelly: Be careful daddy!
Butter: *Hugs Ernest in fear*
Ernest: I'll be ok kids! Now stay here *Goes into the Raccoon house and tries putting out the fire with the help of Opal and Betty-Lou with their buckets of water*
Pinch: Mom! Dad! *Runs up to them*
Wanda: Oh Pinch there you are! *Hugs her*
Pinch: Are you guys ok?!
Walter: We're ok lassie and so is Scootch!
*Scootch is hiding behind his parents trembling*
Wanda: *Picks Scootch up* Its gonna be alright Scootch.. I hope..
Walter: Well the important thing is Connie got us out and we're safe and sound!
Pinch: What caused the fire dad?
Walter: That would be my fault.. I was watching the oven but then I ended up falling asleep cause of how exhausted I was from work so I left the food in the oven for too long and then it caught on fire.. im so sorry lads..
Wanda: Its ok honey.. but you should really get your work hours changed so you have a better sleep schedule..
Walter: I'll talk to my boss about that.. but right now im just hoping I didnt burn down our house for good..
Peanut: Come on mom and dad please save Pinch's house..
Jelly: *Shouting* You can do it mom and dad!
Munchy: *Chomping on a ton of wood in fear* Please be ok mom!
*After a few minutes the fire is put out but the side of the house is damaged*
Ernest: Ok everyone the fire has been put out!
*Everyone cheers*
Opal: But unfortunately part of the boat got damaged.. not to worry though because my husband surely has some parts in his shop to fix it right up! Dont you dear?
Ernest: Ohhhh sorry.. I just sold the last bunch of material to the Snooties..
Betty-Lou: Dont fret yall because I-
Edouard: Now dont panic everyone! Since my wife and I are feeling so generous today I called over a construction company to not only fix the house but remodel it too!
Betty: Oh you dont have to Edouard I was about to say I can just get me and my crew to fix it up in a jiffy!
Edouard: You *could* but the construction company we called over is much faster and more efficient! You still can help though if you must
Betty: Sure thing! The more construction workers the merrier!
Walter: Oh thank you lads both so much!
Georgina: No need to thank us Walter we know we're super kind..
Walter: How could we ever repay you!
Georgina: You could repay us by fixing up Ootsie and Bootsie's new teleportation watches that your wife stepped on and broke on her mail route..
Wanda: Oh *thats* what those were? Im so sorry I didnt see them I was just in such a hurry!
Ootsie: Look what you did! *Shows broken watches* now how are we supposed to go and play with our friends?..
Bootsie: And brag about our cool new gadgets!
Ootsie: By walking?
Bootsie: No way thats way too tiring!

Walter: Uhhhh I dont think I have the parts to make the little lads teleport again-
Edouard: We're renovating your entire house the least you can do is at least try.. people are so ungrateful Georgina mm-mm-mm..
Georgina: Tell me about it.. we did you a favor and you cant even give us one in return..
Walter: Ok then I'll see what I can do.. I'll ask Ernest if he has anything to make it teleport again
Ootsie: Good!
Bootsie: And do it quick before we get bored of them!
Pinch: Guys this is so cool! We're getting a remodel of our house! I bet my room's gonna be so pretty!
Jelly: I cant wait to see it when its done!
Peanut: Im just glad your family is safe Pinch
Pinch: Me too! I dont know what I would have done if they were trapped in there!
Munchy: Tell me about it I was so worried our parents were done for.. well its getting late guys we should head home..
Pinch: But my house isnt gonna be ready for another few days..
Jelly: You can stay at our place until your house is rebuilt!
Peanut: Yeah! Im sure our parents wont mind!
Pinch: Yay! Thanks guys! Let me tell my parents!
Jelly: *Goes up to Opal and Ernest* Mom? Dad? Is it ok if Pinch stays at our house for a few days?
Peanut: Just until her house is rebuilt
Opal: Why sure she can! No one deserves to be without a home
Ernest: Especially not in this cold winter weather
Jelly: Yay! This is gonna be so cool!
*Cut to them on the boardwalk of the Otter house*
Pinch: Thanks for letting me and my family stay with you guys Mr and Mrs Otter!
Opal: Of course Pinch its our pleasure! After all you need a place to stay.. you guys shouldnt be without a home in this winter weather..
Ernest: Its gonna be mighty chilly for the next few weeks
Pinch: Yeah I've heard theres gonna be a lot of snow soon! So its nice to have a warm place to stay!
Ernest: You're always welcome to stay with us as long as you need!
Opal: We're so sorry about your house though.. I cant imagine how it must feel to lose the place you call home..
Pinch: Oh dont worry Mrs Otter it wasnt completely ruined! Its just getting redone! I cant wait to see how it'll look when its finished!
Jelly: In the meantime though we are gonna have so much fun!
Peanut: Yeah it'll be like a 24 hour playdate for the next few days! And then we can get Flick and Munchy over too!
Ernest: Oh speaking of Flick I should get some medicine from my store
Jelly: Medicine?
Ernest: Yeah.. Flick's mom called me ordering medicine because Flick caught the bird flu from Cap'n Crane
Peanut: Awww poor Flick..
Ernest: I know the poor kid's really not feeling well since hes never had the bird flu before.. I'll be right back gang
Jelly: Ok daddy! We should go visit Flick tomorrow morning
Peanut: Yeah we should..
Pinch: Oh guys have you seen Scootch?
Jelly: I thought I saw him inside with your parents
Opal: Wanda told me that if it werent for Scootch they wouldnt have caught the fire as soon as they did
Pinch: But Scootch cant talk very much how did he warn them?
Opal: He did the best he could with what little he had so he dragged your mom downstairs and led her to the source of the fire
Pinch: Wow so my little brother's a hero!
Peanut: Yeah I guess he is!
Scootch: YAAAAAAAAAAAH
Opal: *Giggles* Speaking of which theres our little hero now!
Pinch: Huh? Scootch!
*He knocks Pinch into the water*
Jelly: Pinch are you ok?
Pinch: *Emerges* Yeah im fine.. except now my pretty bow's all wet and droopy
Scootch: Oh- sorry sorry my fault!
Pinch: Thats ok im not upset how can I be when you're the family hero!
Scootch: Me?
Pinch: Yeah! Mrs Otter told us about how you were the one who warned mom and dad of the fire! If it werent for you it would have ended up a lot worse
Opal: We're all very proud of you Scootch *Pats his head*
Scootch: Yay!
Peanut: And Scootch will have fun at our place too while they fix their house! Right buddy?
Scootch: *Nods head*
Opal: Im very proud of you too kids for going right to a grown up when you saw the fire from the tower
Jelly: Well we didnt right away we wanted to try and put it out ourselves and be heroes!
Opal: Putting out a fire isnt as easy as it may seem Jelly for big situations like that you have to go to an adult
Peanut: I tried telling them that but they didnt listen at first they just started arguing on which superhero can put out the fire faster before I had to finally lay down the law
Jelly: We should have listened to you sooner Peanut cause we did some pretty risky stuff being the watch guards..
Peanut: Had we not told Mrs Crane and dad about the fire who knows how worse it could have been
Jelly: We're sorry we didnt listen to your advice sooner Peanut..
Peanut: Its ok Jel.. I shouldnt have yelled at you guys either after we did the noodle dance I was just worried about Pinch's house
Jelly: I understand Peanut you were just trying to help us
Connie: *Flies over to their deck* Hello guys!
Peanut: Oh hi Mrs Crane!
Opal: Hows the captain doing Connie?
Connie: Hes feeling a little better but is still pretty sick.. he told me to come by here and tell you that he appreciates what all you guys have done while watching over Lake Hoohaw and hes especially proud of the way you kids handled seeing the fire
Jelly: We care about Lake Hoohaw as much as he does so we're glad we could keep it safe!
Connie: He appreciates it very much! He also wanted me to give you this nice bowl of candy as a thank you! *Gives them*
Butter: Candy yay!
Peanut: Oh boy candy! Tell him we said thanks!
Jelly: And that we wish him a speedy recovery!
Connie: Of course dear hes loving the support hes getting from the Lake Hoohaw community!
Opal: Now remember kids-
Jelly: We know mom only 1 a day
Peanut: Trust me mom we learned that the hard way on Halloween.. I'll never eat that much again..
