Chapter 57
***Alexis's Cottage***
Alexis: "Are you going to tell me what is going on?"
Sam: (raises her eyebrows) "Oh, mom, if I told you everything that is going on, you would probably have to turn me in. That is why I'm pleading the 5th amendment."
(Alexis's mouth drops open in shock! Then again, she should not be surprised as Sam did many illegal things over the years and even got away with it)
Alexis: "Can you at least tell me what it's about?"
Sam: (raises her eyebrows) "If I said one single word, you would know. That is why it is best you stay in the dark. I am protecting you."
(Alexis shakes her head and waves her daughter away as she gets up from the couch. As her back is facing Sam, Alexis rests her hands on her hips and sighs deeply before turning around)
Alexis: "Why do you need me to lie about this morning then?"
(Sam's guilty expression answers Alexis's question)
Alexis: "You need an alibi."
Sam: (nods) "Yes."
Alexis: "Let me guess. You told Dante you had an alibi when you technically did not."
(Sam just looks away, answering her mother's question)
Alexis: "I love you, Sam. You're my daughter. But I will NOT lie for you. I am a lawyer and if I lied to protect you, I could be disbarred or in trouble. I'm sorry, Sam, but I'm not going to risk my job for your lies."
(Sam scoffs as she gets up from the couch and crosses her arms over her chest)
Sam: "This is the time when I needed you now more than ever."
Alexis: "I want to know what you want me to lie about. If it's for a good cause, I'd consider it. Is it for a good cause?"
(Sam sighs deeply and looks away again)
Alexis: (nods) "That is what I thought. I am not going to force you to tell me. But, I won't lie for you, either. My gut is telling me what you are doing is wrong. So, you are on your own."
(Sam scoffs incredulously as she walks out the door in a huff)
Sam: (under her breath) "I should've known I couldn't count on you."
***Sonny & Carly's Place***
Sonny: "Thank you, Diane, for helping Jason out. I am glad you were there."
Carly: (smiles) "Thank you, as well, Spinelli."
Spinelli: "I do not want Stonecold going to jail for Samantha. She is not worth it."
(As Diane walks around, she gestures to Jason and speaks)
Diane: "I cannot stress this enough, Jason. You MUST control your temper when you are around Sam. Otherwise, you will get in trouble with Dante and Jordan."
(Diane faces Jason with a serious look)
Diane: "Do you want to go to jail? Because if you keep trying to go after Sam like you did today, that is what is going to happen. We all know she is guilty. We need to prove it. You going after her is not going to solve anything and help matters." (raises her eyebrows) "Got it?"
Carly: "Remember, Jason, what you always used to tell me when I wanted to do something rash? Count to 10."
Diane: "That's good advice, Carly. Jason, if it helps, do it."
Jason: (begrudgingly) "Okay." (clears his throat) "Carly, did you tell Josslyn about Elizabeth?"
Carly: (nods) "Yes. Josslyn immediately went to see Cameron to offer her support."
Sonny: (smiles) "I swear, Carly, your daughter loves that young man."
Jason: (nods) "He loves her, too."
Sonny: (to Jason) "When are you going to talk to Jake and Aiden?"
Jason: "As soon as I am done here. I am going to pick them up from school and sit down with them."
(Sonny goes to his best friend and embraces him)
Sonny: "We're here for you."
Jason: "Thank you." (to Spinelli) "Thank you, as well, for all your help."
Spinelli: (smiles) "Anytime, Stonecold."
Jason: "I can take you back home, if you want, Spinelli."
Spinelli: (shakes his head) "I want to help find The Maternal One just as much. Just set me up in a room as I will be fine with my laptop."
Jason: "Jake and Aiden share a room and I use Elizabeth's room. You can use Cameron's old room."
Spinelli: (jokes) "Just supply the chips and orange pop and I'm glad to be of service."
(Everyone has a chuckle)
(School is now done for the day. Jason went to pick up his two other sons. They were a little bit confused why Jason picked them up)
Jake: "Dad, aren't you usually at work?"
(Jason sighs as they sit down on the couch)
Jason: "There is a reason why I picked you up from school. It may already be on the news. But, if it is not, I wanted you both to hear it from me."
(Jake and Aiden could not help but grow scared at what their dad was saying)
Jake: "What's going on?"
Aiden: "Is Mom okay?"
(Jason speaks as calmly as he can)
Jason: "Your mom has been kidnapped."
(The boys are horrified! They both look at each other before facing their dad again)
Jake: "Who kidnapped mom?"
Jason: "I am pretty sure I know who it is, but I have no proof. I need to find it. Until then, I am doing everything I can to bring mom home with Spinelli's help."
Jake: "Is that why I saw Spinelli go into Cameron's room with his laptop?
Jason: (nods) "Yes. Spinelli has been a great help. I know you are worried. So am I. Me, Spinelli, Sonny, and those that matter are on it."
(Jake and Aiden nod shakenly)
Aiden: "Find mom, Dad."
Jake: "Bring her home."
Jason: "You bet I will."
