A Harry Potter and Percy Jackson crossover
Chapter 33:
Percy
Percy looked at the tree acting as barrier for the camp and sighed. The poison was getting worse and Mr. D and the new Activities Director were just ignoring the problem. After Chiron got banished, thanks to Zeus, life at camp got worse. The Activities Director was a horrid man, that Percy forgot the name of, who couldn't eat or drink anything at camp. And his disdain for the demigods was obvious. The only demigod he seemed to really like was Clarisse.
Feeling a little rash, but knowing that it was the right thing to do, Percy went to find Clarisse and get the prophesy for a quest. "Clarisse," Percy called out when he saw her.
Clarisse turned when she heard his voice. "What's up, Seaweed head?"
Percy stepped up beside her. "I have a bad feeling that the barrier will fall if we don't do something to save the pine tree."
She nodded. "I was thinking the same thing. I've been organizing border patrols to keep an eye on things."
Percy sighed in relief. At least someone else was worrying about the tree and the barrier. "I want to go on a quest with you to find something that could save our camp."
Clarisse looked at him warily. "Why do you want to go on a quest with me? Why not Annabeth?"
Percy shrugged. "I tolerate her presence, but we're not really friends yet. Besides, since you organized the border patrols, you can step away for a bit. Together, we can save Thalia's tree and the camp."
She snorted out a laugh. "Okay, Percy. What's your suggestion?"
"We grab a prophecy and then they can't say anything about it. They'll have to let us go." Percy gave her a crooked grin.
Her laugh rang out. "I like the way you think. Come on, let's go."
As they walked to the Big House and up to the attic, Percy had to ask, "Do you want to say the question at the same time, so that it's definitely our quest?" He glanced over at her. "Like asking, 'How can we save Thalia's tree'?"
Clarisse nodded thoughtfully. "That sounds good. Yes, I like it. What are we going to do if someone denies us?"
Percy raised an eyebrow. "Are we going to let them?"
Clarisse shook her head. "Never."
They stepped into the attic, coughing at the dust, and found the mummy that housed the spirit of Delphi. "How can we save Thalia's tree?" They asked in stereo.
A green mist poured out of the mummy's mouth and she spoke in a haunting manner,
"Children of Ares and Poseidon go east,
to find the golden fleece,
Danger lurks around every corner,
and friends turned enemies cross the border.
Look out for the monster that tends sheep,
if you win, more lives to keep.
Tarry not to save the tree,
a girl once more to be."
Percy and Clarisse looked at each other in shock and confusion. What did it mean? They quickly left the attic and the Big House to go find Mr. D. They had to tell him what they had just heard. When they got outside, they heard a commotion at the barrier. "What's happening?" Percy asked Annabeth.
"A Cyclops is at the barrier, asking to be let in." She did not look happy about that.
Percy looked over at the barrier when gasps were heard. Above the cyclops, who he now recognized as Tyson, was a glowing green trident. Percy had a monster for a half-brother... He didn't know what to think of that, even as Tyson was let into camp by Mr. D.
The other demigods cleared a path to Percy and the two girls next to him. Annabeth scowled and stepped to the side as Tyson saw Percy. "Percy! I didn't know you would be here!"
"Yeah, hey Tyson." Percy looked at the cyclops with a nervous wave. Beside him, Clarisse placed a hand on his shoulder in support. "So, you're my brother," he said.
"Brother!" Tyson cried out, wrapping his arms around Percy's waist and lifting him up into the air.
Percy wheezed. "Tyson... Can't ...breathe." When Tyson put Percy down, the gasping demigod saw a hysterically laughing daughter of Ares. "Clarisse, this isn't that funny!"
She continued to laugh. "You should have seen your face!"
"Yeah, yeah," Percy said, dryly. He couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm in laughing. When she calmed down, he said, "Come on, we should talk to Mr. D."
Clarisse nodded. "Sure." They walked over to the Camp Director with Tyson following behind them. "Mr. D, we need to speak with you."
Mr. D turned around to look at the three before him. "What about?"
Clarisse looked at Percy and nodded for him to step up and speak. Percy took a deep breath. "We received a prophecy," he said. "It said, 'Children of Ares and Poseidon go east, to find the golden fleece, Danger lurks around every corner, and friends turned enemies cross the border. Look out for the monster that tends sheep, if you win, more lives to keep. Tarry not to save the tree, a girl once more to be."
Mr. D thought about it for a while, watching the two demigods. "You went to get a prophecy without getting a quest?"
Percy shrugged while Clarisse told him, "Well, Tantalus wasn't going to do anything. He was just going to let Thalia's tree die."
"Alright. You three can go. Take a satyr to guide you, and take that Annie girl with you. She's been annoying me lately." Mr. D looked over his sunglasses at Percy. "Do everything you can to get the fleece back here. We don't have much time to save the tree. Unfortunately."
Percy made a face at the thought of bringing Annabeth, but he nodded. "Yes, sir. Thank you for letting us go on this quest."
Mr. D nodded, waving them off.
Clarisse smirked. "I'll go tell Annabeth that we're going on a quest. You go get a satyr that will come with us."
Percy smiled at her. "Thanks, Clarisse." They separated and Percy and Tyson walked over to the satyrs. They were looking up at Tyson warily, but they treated Percy with respect. "Hey," Percy said. "Would one of you like to go with us, Clarisse, and Annabeth to find the golden fleece and save Thalia's tree?"
The satyrs conversed with each other for a moment before one of the satyrs stepped forward. "I'll go with you." He was a satyr that Percy only knew through reputation... Coach Hedge.
Coach Hedge honestly scared Percy sometimes, the bloodthirsty satyr. "Thank you, Coach Hedge."
Coach Hedge nodded. "Let's go, Jackson."
"Oh, good. You got Coach Hedge," Clarisse said when Percy and the others met up with her and Annabeth. "Hey, Coach." She handed out bags to the three. "Here's your travel bags. There's clothes, food, tools and weapons, and money in each bag. After lunch, we need to head out."
"Yeah," Percy said, nodding and taking the bag. "Thanks for these."
"No problem, seaweed head," Clarisse said.
Annabeth followed the others to the pavilion for Lunch. She was unsure about what to say or do. Yes, she wanted to save Thalia's tree, but she wasn't sure about going on a journey with a cyclops... a monster like the one that killed Thalia.
Percy ate slowly enough to actually enjoy his food, but quickly enough that he wasn't holding up anything. He was anxious to get on this journey because he had a dream the other night about his friend, Grover. Grover had been making a wedding veil, hiding from something that was calling for him to hurry up. He shook his head. He'd find Grover... he had to.
"Come, seaweed head," Clarisse called to Percy.
He got up quickly. "I'm coming. Come on, Tyson. Don't forget your bag."
"Yes, Percy." Tyson followed Percy's lead and they met up with the other three questors.
Clarisse and Percy, the leaders of the quest, led the way to the lake. They would be getting help from Ares and Poseidon there. Percy said aloud, "Father, can we have a ship for our quest?"
Soon, a ship rose from under the water. It was a very nice ship, with sea-green sails, and cannons on the sides. "Wow, Jackson," Clarisse said. "Your dad had this in his domain?" She kept her gaze on the ship as she asked her dad, "Can we have a crew to run this ship?" Suddenly, there were zombie soldiers standing on the deck of the ship, surprising the questers. "Thanks, dad," Clarisse said in an awed voice.
"Your father listened," Percy said with a grin at her. Clarisse nodded with a small smile. Percy turned to Annabeth and Coach Hedge. "Let's go." He led the way to the ship, where a ramp had been lowered so that they could walk up to the deck of the ship. Percy looked at the zombie crew and nodded at them.
Clarisse stepped up beside Percy and spoke to the crew. "Thank you for joining us. Percy and I are co-leaders of this quest, so you are to follow his orders as well. If our orders conflict, then you are to consult the both of us at the same time and we will figure out what to do together."
"Yes, sir!" the crew said. Before one of them said, "Ma'am."
Clarisse winced. This was going to be a long journey if they couldn't just pick something to call her. She glared at Percy when he snorted. "Not funny, Jackson."
"You laughed at me," he said, shrugging. Then he looked around. "I need some of you to work below, keeping us afloat. Some of you will control the masts," he said to the zombies. "I need one person to man the wheel." He turned to Clarisse. "Does that sound good?"
"Yes," she said. "That way, we can discuss plans at any time."
Annabeth scoffed to herself, watching the others. Coach Hedge nodded. "Always have a battle plan," he said with approval. "Good job, Jackson."
Percy smiled at the satyr in thanks. "Let's get started." They walked forward. "First, I think we should head east. I don't know why, but that feels right to me."
"I agree," Clarisse said, although she didn't seem 100% sure. "You should always follow your feelings, especially on quests."
They made their way to the captain's quarters, where they sat around the war table to discuss what to do first. Percy pulled down a map of the ocean and land east of New York. He placed the map on the table. "So, what could be east of here that could house the golden fleece?"
Annabeth looked over the map. Her eyes darted here and there, looking for some sort of land mass that could possibly hold the golden fleece. "There's the Bermuda triangle, also known as the Sea of Monsters, but that's not a guarantee." She looked up at Percy and Clarisse. She didn't like that they were in charge, but she knew that she couldn't do anything about it. She glanced at Tyson, who was fiddling with something in his hands. What was he doing? Was he biding his time before he attacked them? She didn't know.
Percy and Clarisse looked at each other, nodding at the logic. "That's logical," Percy said. He looked over the map, noticing where the Sea of Monsters was located, and lifted the map up to be tacked up to the wall again. As soon as he did, a blinking dot appeared on the map. Percy shouted in surprise, before looking closely at the map.
"What happened?" Clarisse asked, stepping around the table.
"A blinking dot just appeared on the map. When I got closer to the map, I saw that the dot was labeled with 'Current location'," Percy replied. He moved to a different section of the map and pointed. "There's another dot here," he said. "It says 'The Princess Andromeda'. What is that? And why is it marked on the map when we are headed to the Sea of Monsters?"
Annabeth, Coach Hedge, and Tyson came over to see what Percy was talking about. "Sounds like a ship," Annabeth said.
"Maybe it's an important stop that we have to make?" Coach Hedge asked, scratching his head.
Tyson said, "Percy will make a good choice." He nodded at his brother.
"Thanks, big guy," Percy said, self-consciously. He was also a little weirded out over having a monster for a brother, but he was trying to get used to it.
Clarisse gave Percy a knowing look. She could somehow tell what he was going through. "Come on, let's find our rooms and get some sleep. There's nothing we can do now."
Percy nodded. "I'll tell the crew where we're headed first, and then I'll head to bed." He left the others to go do that... still a little wary of talking to the zombies.
