[ACT ONE, CHAPTER THREE: OCEAN MAN]
It was a peaceful morning in the Kine household, with nothing serious going on. A few members of the family were out at work or doing other activities, while the rest were at home, engaged in their own hobbies. Zuki was among the people who were at home. Sitting by himself in the dining room, the teenager with braces enjoyed a refreshing bowl of Frosted Flakes while browsing through his phone.
"The PC I want is on sale. Man, I really need to get that." Zuki was low on funds, so he couldn't buy the computer he wanted. "I need to save up."
*BUZZ* *BUZZ* *BUZZ*
Zuki received a text.
KALIFICENT: Oi.
KALIFICENT: Chief.
ZUKI: What's up, Kal?
KALIFICENT: We're going to be chilling at the mall, so grab your shit and dip.
ZUKI: Wait, right now?
KALIFICENT: 😑😑😑
KALIFICENT: No, I mean tomorrow...
KALIFICENT: YES, I MEAN RIGHT NOW! 😡
KALIFICENT: Get dem legs moving, boi!
ZUKI: Alright, alright. Just give me some time.
KALIFICENT: Do whatever you need to do.
Zuki had already freshened up and gotten dressed before eating breakfast, leaving him with the simple task of grabbing his belongings and heading out. The Earthling hastily finished his breakfast and outstretched his hand, utilizing his telekinetic abilities to retrieve his belongings which included a set of keys, a wallet, and earbuds along with their accompanying case.
Zuki inserted his earbuds into his ears before standing up. "Shouldn't take long to get to Unity Plaza," he said, stuffing his things in his pockets.
Putting his bowl in the sink, Zuki left the dining room and entered the living room where Lexington was playing video games, while Iris and Ivy watched.
"I'll be at Unity Plaza with Kali and Ghi." The siblings of Zuki mindlessly nodded. "Catch you guys later, and text me if you need anything."
"Take care, baby bro," Iris and Ivy said, their voices devoid of little, if any, emotion. They were pretty much speaking like the twins in The Shining.
"Peace or whatever," Lexington spoke with an equally, if not more, monotonous tone than his sisters. "C'mon, dude, quit spamming."
As Zuki stepped out of his house and onto the front yard, a small group of five dogs ran up to him, excitedly greeting him. The pack of dogs consisted of an Old English Sheepdog, a husky, a Shih Tzu, a Coton de Tulear, and a Cockapoo. The names of the dogs were Hetzen, Heiser, Klein, Baumwolle, and Kokkapu, and they were all Zuki's dogs, whom he loved deeply.
I hope you guys have been good," Zuki smiled, cuddling his dogs. "Oh, who am I kidding? Of course, you have."
The canines barked as they licked Zuki's face, eliciting a light laugh from the boy.
"Okay, okay." Zuki gently pushed his hounds away. "Take it easy, guys. I don't want to be covered in slobber." Zuki stood up and opened the door behind him. "I know you guys really don't want to hear this, but I have to go now." The dogs frowned and whimpered, tugging at Zuki's heartstrings. "Look, I know you want to come along with me, but I can't since Unity Plaza doesn't allow animals." Zuki bent down and petted his pets. "Hopefully, I won't be gone for too long. Once I come back, we can play and I'll even buy you something from the mall. Doesn't that sound good?"
"ARF!" the dogs of Zuki barked in unison, their tails swinging wildly.
Zuki laughed. "Good," he said, pointing to the inside of his house. "Now go."
Once again, the canines barked in response as they went inside the house. Zuki closed the door and slowly levitated off the ground before taking off.
The residents of Sapphire were having a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoying themselves at Kailani Beach, a popular beach destination. Unbeknownst to the beachgoers, there was someone spectating them from afar, and they weren't happy with what they were seeing—not one bit; in fact, the mere presence of the beachgoers infuriated them. The vexed observer was a man, but not just any man—a shark man. The aforementioned shark man had a tall, muscular build that contrasted with his olive skin tone, dark blue eyes, and white hair with blue streaks. Being a shark, the man had the physical traits of one, including a lengthy tail, a large dorsal fin on his back, two smaller fins on his arms, sharp teeth, and gills on his neck and stomach. Finally, was dressed in black shorts with a white cloth wrapped around his waist; completing the outfit were sandals and golden rings around his wrists and arms respectively.
The shark man's scowl conveyed nothing but utter disgust. "Wretched humans..." he snarled. "I will make them pay dearly for the unacceptable transgressions they have committed against me, as well as for the harm they have wrought upon the delicate ecosystem of the sea." The shark man despised humans with a burning passion. "They pollute the ocean with their waste, cause harm to and consume innocent marine life, trespass in our residences, and display little to no remorse for their vile behavior. The shark man raised his fist and clenched it. "I will take the necessary measures to handle the situation."
The shark man started swimming with great speed until he leaped out of the ocean and was high in the air before safely landing on the beach, quickly capturing everyone's attention. The presence of the serpent man naturally startled the people of Kailani Beach, causing some to feel afraid.
"Listen well, land dwellers," the shark man announced. "You, with your despicable actions, have inflicted a significant amount of anguish upon my people for a lengthy period of time." The villainous shark man extended his hand and created a blue trident made of shimmering crystal. "On this fateful day, be assured that you shall be subjected to the grave consequences of each and every one of your transgressions!"
The shark man was met with blank glances by the humans, much to his chagrin. Such simple-minded creatures, he thought.
"It would seem you lot have failed to comprehend my words..." The shark man raised his hand and the ocean behind him arose. "You are going to die." The shark man smirked. "If fortune favors you, your demise shall be swift and painless, yet I harbor doubts that luck shall grace your presence on this day." A small yet smug chuckle escaped the shark man's lips. "Beware, humans. Beware the power of Leviathan, the indomitable guardian of the vast sea!"
As soon as the Earthlings caught sight of the ocean that was looming over them, they let out terrified screams and fled for their lives.
The shark man, identified as Leviathan, laughed. "Running will not yield any favorable outcomes for you, humans!"
With a commanding gesture, Leviathan raised his hands, summoning forth mighty pillars of water that erupted from the ground. Chaos was prevailing at Kailani Beach, and the situation was bound to increase unless someone intervened. The fate of Sapphire City and everything that lay beyond its borders hung precariously on the brink of utter annihilation!
Zuki strolled through the expansive Unity Plaza, a bustling mall located in the heart of Sapphire. Seeing as Unity Plaza was a mall, and a vast one, there were a multitude of stores for Zuki to visit, which he would inevitably do, but at the moment, his focus was centered on a specific place. After traveling to the second floor, Zuki found himself standing in front of an arcade that exuded a unique retro-style aesthetic. The gaming establishment's name was Starcade Arcade, or simply the Starcade, and it was one of Zuki's favorite places to relax and unwind.
As Zuki stepped inside, he was surrounded by a dazzling display of colorful lights coming from the lights on the ceiling and arcade games. Decor aside, the teenager was quick to notice that the number of people inside was rather limited. Honestly, Zuki enjoyed it more when the arcade wasn't jam-packed with people, as it meant there were fewer people and more games to play.
"Hey, Morgi." Zuki turned to a female employee of Starcade, fixing a broken arcade machine. "Are the guys here?"
The employee, known as Morgi, short for Morgianna, gestured to the back end of the Starcade. "Over there."
"Thanks, Morgi." Zuki waved to Morgianna as he walked to the back of Starcade.
"Mhm..." Morgianna waved Zuki off, returning to her work. "Alright, now this part goes..."
As Zuki ventured towards the back of Starcade, he became aware of the unmistakable melodies of video game music resonating through the atmosphere. Soon after, he discerned the cheerful yet competitive voices of a young boy and girl accompanying the harmonious tunes. Zuki reached the origin of the music and cheering, where he spotted a girl and a boy who appeared to be around his age immersed in a heated game of Mortal Kombat.
First was the girl, who had an abnormal appearance in comparison to Zuki and the other boy, though it wasn't uncommon to come across individuals with unusual characteristics. For context, the young woman had a dragon tail that was colored black and purple; additionally, she had black horns protruding from her head, slitted eyes, a long tongue, claw-like nails, and razor-sharp fangs that looked like they could chew through anything, maybe even metal. Apart from her dragon-like characteristics, the girl looked to be a typical teenager, albeit with a slight emo/rocker girl aesthetic. The young woman stood at an average height, shorter than Zuki and the other boy she was playing with; moreover, she had a rose-beige complexion, black hair that cascaded down her back and a strip of hair that hung between her purple eyes, and a petite yet slightly fit physique. Finally, the young lady wore a black shirt adorned with a shattered white heart decal in the center, paired with graphic biker jeans alongside a plaid shirt and bullet belt around her waist. Completing the outfit were black and red sneakers, ear piercings, and leather armbands with spikes on them.
Then there was the boy, who looked more human-like in comparison to his gal pal, save for his monkey tail, which stood out like a sore thumb. The young man stood slightly taller than Zuki, boasting a honey complexion that complemented his unruly black hair; his sharp and fierce reddish-brown eyes added an air of intensity to his gaze, while his muscular frame exuded strength. The brunette was wearing a white button-up shirt with a brown leather aviator jacket on top and a pair of pilot goggles around his neck. Finishing the ensemble was a pair of black jeans and brown boots.
The names of the pair of Kalista Wyvern and Ghia Centigrado. Kalista was the girl—a young dragon living amongst the Earthlings—while Ghia was the boy—a young man who possessed a unique heritage, as he had both Earthling and Saiyan blood flowing through his veins, which made him one of the few Saiyan-Earthling hybrids living on Earth. Kalista and Ghia were Zuki's best friends, the latter having known them since they were kids.
"Hey, guys," Zuki greeted his friends, waving to them as they were still playing Mortal Kombat.
Ghia returned the wave, though his gaze was clung to his game. "Golden Boy arrives."
"About time you showed up," Kalista playfully jested, speaking in a British accent. "You sure took your sweet time getting here."
Zuki frowned. "Took my sweet time? It didn't even take me that long to get here," he complained. "Maybe you just lost track of time."
"Don't mind the sourpuss, Z; she's just dumping her anger on you," Ghia snickered. "Lizard girl's all pissy because I'm kicking her ass."
"You? Kicking my ass? That's a laugh," snorted Kalista. "The only reason you're winning is because you're button-mashing."
Ghia rolled his eyes. "Keep telling yourself that, Kal," he said with a small smirk. "Maybe you need to get good."
"I am good, definitely better than your ass," Kalista countered. "Get ready to eat Fatality, you son of a bi-OH WHAT THE HELL?!"
Ghia, playing as Scorpion, executed an uppercut on Subzero, who was being controlled by Kali, resulting in the ice-user's head being knocked off.
"SCORPION WINS..."
"B-R-U-T-A-L-I-T-Y"
"OH COME ON!" In a fit of anger, Kalista forcefully smacked the Mortal Kombat arcade machine. "You're a button-mashing bastard!"
Ghia chuckled, mockingly patting Kalista on the head, much to her frustration. "Button-masher? Me? Never. I'm just good. You? Not so much."
"Talking a lot of shit for someone within punching distance, buddy," Kalista growled, cracking her knuckles.
Ghia folded his arms and bent down to face Kalista. "So are you, Kal," he countered. "You want to go? Because we can go right now."
"Bring it on, bas-"
"Hey!" Zuki positioned himself between Kalista and Ghia, preventing them from fighting. "I didn't come all the way here to see you dopes throw hands." Zuki gestured to the many other arcade games around him and his friends. "Why don't we play something less competitive instead of fighting and possibly destroying the arcade and maybe even the mall itself? A game that won't result in us fighting."
Ghia and Kalista looked to each other, then to Zuki.
Zuki was waiting for an answer. "Well...?"
"Eh, I don't see why not." Ghia could do for some light-hearted fun.
Kalista looked away. "Fine, whatever..." she grumbled. "You're the leader, you call the shots."
"Not the leader, Kali," Zuki corrected. "I'm just the one who stops you guys from doing something stupid." Zuki shifted his attention to a different arcade game, pointing to it. "Bet you sons of glitches can't beat me in Mario Kart." Zuki's face broke into a small yet unmistakably smug smirk as he retrieved his wallet from his back pocket and revealed the contents of cash neatly tucked inside. "I'm willing to bet if you dastards are."
Ghia and Kalista stared at Zuki before pulling out their respective wallets. "You're on!"
The three friends settled into the seats of the Mario Kart arcade machine. The arcade machines naturally required payment, specifically in the form of tokens, but the group had a clever trick up their sleeves to play for free. Both Ghia and Kalista turned to face Zuki, 'innocently' smiling at him. In response, the Earthling playfully heaved a long sigh, fully aware of what was expected from him. Honestly, he should've seen it coming, but it was whatever.
"You guys..." Zuki shook his head.
Zuki extended her finger toward a token dispenser nearby and discharged a small bolt of electricity. For a brief moment, the token dispenser experienced a glitch before swiftly returning to its usual functioning as tokens began to fall to the ground and pile up. Zuki effortlessly used telekinesis to pick up the pile of tokens and bring them over to him, Ghia, and Kalista. Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista gathered a handful of tokens and inserted them into the arcade machine, eager to start their wager and make some good money.
"You're the best, buddy," Ghia joked.
Zuki rolled his eyes. "For now..." he said with a smirk. "Let's see if you'll keep that same energy when I win."
"Bold of you to assume you're going to come out on top, my dear friend," Kalista grinned. "This'll be the easiest money I ever make."
Once the arcade game began, Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista selected their desired characters; Zuki went with Rosalina, Kalista chose Bowser Jr., and Ghia opted for Mario. Having chosen their characters, the trio of supernatural friends were eagerly prepared to win the upcoming race and earn some money. First place could only be won by those who were both fast and skilled.
"Rainbow Road." Rainbow Road. It was a hellish stage that had to have been made by the hands of a sadist. "Best of luck to you, boys. Try not to fall off."
"Thank you for your kind words, Kali. Your sportsmanship is truly admirable..." Zuki said sarcastically, shaking his head as Kalista 'innocently' shrugged her shoulders in response. "Oh, by the way, have I told you guys about my time with Piccolo? He's that guy I was telling you guys about a few days ago."
"No, I don't think you did." Ghia ran into an item block and obtained a red shell, which he hurled at a CPU. "Take that and choke on it!"
Kalista was in first place, but she was overtaken by Zuki and ended up in second place. "Oi! I was in first, Z!"
"Nothing personal, bestie," Zuki smiled smugly. "But for real, the training was good. Piccolo was strict, but strictness never hurt anyone...I hope."
A CPU was behind Kalista and tried to pass her, but she stopped them with a banana. "Ha!" she laughed before turning to Zuki. "What did you do?"
"We fought, no surprise there, and he beat me, but in the end, I learned something," Zuki explained. "I can hook you guys up if you want."
Kalista waved her hand. "Nah, I'm good on that, but thanks for the offer," she said, rejecting Zuki. "I'm already under the old bat's tutelage. If I switched up on her and she found out, which she inevitably would, she'd talk my damn ears off until I'm, like, a thousand years old, possibly higher if we're still alive by that point, and I really don't feel like dealing with that. She's been on me about how I need to get more experience to really shine in my field. She says I have to 'act like a true dragon' whatever the hell that BS means. I'm telling you, dealing with magic, transformations, and training can be a real bitch."
"Mrs. Avia does what she does out of care," Zuki consoled. "After all, you're her granddaughter. Grandparents are supposed to love their grandkids."
"Alright, alright, I get the point," Kalista sighed. Maybe Zuki had a point. "At least she isn't like Ghia's mom. That bitch is, to put it mildly, the worst."
Ghia averted his gaze, wearing a slightly melancholic expression. "You don't know the half of it, sis..."
Kalista ran into an item block and obtained a Spiny Shell. "Hey, Z, I got a nice gift for you," she grinned. "A blue shell just for you!"
"Hold on, what?" Zuki's eyes grew wide with shock and horror as he watched the Spiny Shell soar above his head. "Oh sh-"
KABLOOEY!
Zuki was struck by the Spiny Shell, resulting in a massive explosion and a few racers zooming past him. "You've got to be kidding me!" Zuki smacked his steering wheel in anger. "I was in freaking first! FIRST! What the hell, Kali?!" In the world, various types of pain exist, including physical, emotional, and mental anguish, but among them all, the most dreaded is the harrowing sensation caused by the Spiny Shell, particularly when in first place.
Kalista snickered to herself. "It was going to happen one way or another, Z," she teased, throwing salt on the wound. "Better now than never."
Zuki growled, glaring at his smug dragon friend. "You're going to pay for that dragon gir-"
Zukis's words were abruptly interrupted by the unmistakable sound of screaming, deriving specifically from the people at Unity Plaza.
"RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!"
"Huh?" Zuki turned his head and spotted a crowd of mall shoppers frantically fleeing, their terrified screams filling the air. "What the...?"
"HE'S GOING TO KILL US ALL!"
"SOMEBODY HELP US!"
Ghia was understandably confused by the sudden commotion and people running. "Why's everyone losing their marbles out there?"
With a puzzled shrug, Kalista offered her response. "Beats me," she said. "You're guess is as good as mine. Whatever it is, it isn't good."
"I think I heard someone say something was going to kill them," Zuki said. "If that's any indication, the mall's under attack." Zuki quickly rose to their feet, disregarding Mario Kart or the wager that had been placed. "Let's get a move on, guys. If lady luck's on our side, the attackers haven't killed any civilians yet, giving us the opportunity to prevent any further harm."
With no time to waste as lives were on the line, the three friends, Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista took off in a flash.
Leviathan cackled at the chaos that was on display. "Yes..." he said maliciously, grinning ear-to-ear. "Fear me, filthy humans."
The citizens of Sapphire were fleeing for the sake of their safety, with a strong aversion to meeting their demise. Surprisingly, there were police officers present, attempting to put down Leviathan using their firearms, but to no surprise, their efforts proved futile against the muscular shark man emerging from the depths of the sea who was none too thrilled. In a swift retaliation, Leviathan unleashed a massive sphere of water, which struck the police officers and sent them flying off in different directions.
"Foolishness." With a swift motion, Leviathan conjured a water whip and swung it towards a building, effortlessly slicing it into two perfect halves. "Your feeble human weapons are ineffective against me." Leviathan relentlessly pressed forward, leaving a wake of devastation in his path, obliterating anything that crossed his destructive path until he reached Unity Mall. "Perfect..."
Leviathan raised a hand and created an energy ball, ready to unleash destruction upon Unity Plaza until a group of police-based mechs and robots surrounded him, their hovering forms emanating a sense of authority. Without hesitation, they unleashed a barrage of bullets from their integrated firearms, aiming to neutralize the imminent threat. Leviathan emitted a menacing growl as the bullets futilely ricocheted off his hulking physique. With one quick swipe, he effortlessly dispatched the machinery, destroying them in the process.
"Your toys will not work on me," Leviathan said before smirking. "But these will..."
Leviathan tapped the ground a few times with his crystal trident. Initially, there was no activity, but soon the ground started to shake as figures emerged from beneath and surfaced. The figures were golems crafted from crystal, brought to life by Leviathan's mastery over the material and imbued with his power.
"Onwards, my loyal golems," Leviathan ordered, pointing forward. "Make the humans pay."
The golems said nothing, following their command with a nod as they took action, lending their aid to their creator by attacking anything within their reach.
"ELIMINATE TARGETS. ELIMINATE TARGETS."
Legions of police mechs were stationed, engaging in fierce combat against the soldiers of Leviathan. A skirmish erupted, marking the onset of a conflict between the two factions. Fortunately, the majority, if not all, of the individuals who were present had disappeared, with the exception of those in the mall, leaving only the police officers, mechs, and robots who were fighting off Leviathan's crystal golems.
Today was a horrible day for Sapphire.
"Holy hell..." Kalista was overcome with shock as she beheld the sight before her. "What in god's name are those...things?"
Leviathan's golems were currently overwhelming Unity Plaza, launching attacks on anyone and anything they could get their crystal hands on. Unity Plaza, once a place of splendor, now lay in disarray, a chaotic mess brought about by the presence of Leviathan's golems. If any of the janitors managed to survive, they would undoubtedly be spending a long and rough time cleaning up the mess, but also be receiving a well-deserved financial reward.
"My heart goes out for the folks who have to deal with this mess when it's over," said Ghia. "No offense, but I'm glad it's not me."
"Isn't Scoop & Savor nearby?" Ghia narrowed his eyes. "You better hope that ice cream shop hasn't been hit yet, or you'll have a problem on your hands."
Ghia was silent before he broke his silence. "These guys are dead!" he declared with fire in his eyes. "We need to stop them before they cost me my job!"
Bruh...
"Good to know you have your priorities in order..." Zuki murmured sarcastically. "But in all seriousness, G's right. We need these things deader than disco."
As a Golem scanned its surroundings, it caught sight of Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista. It slammed the ground in reaction, and without hesitation, it charged toward its supposed prey. Kalista was the first person to make a move. With a graceful motion, the young dragon girl lifted her hands, causing the shadow beneath her feet to expand, and from the depths of the shadow, a multitude of ethereal hands emerged, arising slowly into view. Kalista pushed her hands forward, unleashing her shadowy appendages toward the golem. The shadow hands coiled around the being like a snake, ensnaring it in their grasp.
"And now for the pièce de résistance..." Kalista murmured under her breath.
The girl brought her hands together and conjured a sphere made from darkness, and with good precision, she aimed and launched it at her helpless adversary, still wrapped in her shadow hands. In merely a matter of seconds, the shadow sphere reached the soldier of Leviathan, and upon making contact with the armored soldier, it detonated, but instead of an explosion, it released tendrils that pierced through it and anything that was nearby. The golem wriggled around in reaction as Kalista retracted her shadows and it dropped to the ground before shattering into pieces.
"Alright!" Ghia cheered, patting Kalista on the back. "Nice job, Kal!"
Although Zuki was impressed was his friend, he couldn't dwell on her accomplishment for too long. "It isn't over yet! Heads up, we got more incoming!"
More golems ran at Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista. The three friends exchanged glances before nodding in agreement. They knew what they had to do. Zuki showcased his aura, followed by Ghia, who emanated a vivid aura in a shade of purple, and lastly, Kalista unveiled a black and shadowy aura. Zuki and Ghia took off, each engaging their respective opponents. Zuki confronted golems positioned on the left, while Ghia confidently faced off against the ones set in the middle. Kalista stood in place for a moment as she transformed. The girl's arms and legs underwent a noteworthy change, morphing into dragon-like appendages. Moreover, her tail grew in length, adorned with sharp spikes, while large and monstrous wings emerged from her back.
Kalista ascended a few inches above the ground. "Let's get this show on the road, shall we?"
Another group of golems ran at Kalista, armed with crystal weapons such as swords, hammers, and spears, and prepared to attack, but the dragon girl defeated them with claw slashes, ripping them to pieces. Another team of bold golems, driven by the desire to avenge their slain comrades, fearlessly lunged at Kalista. Bad move on their part. They stuck their hand out and shot shards of crystal to defeat her, but she was fast and created a protective barrier using shadows. The shadow barrier had writhing tendrils stemming from it, and one even stabbed a golem before slicing it clean in half. The other golems stood in surprise, their eyes fixed on their downed comrade. They tried to distance themselves from the deadly barrier, but their movements were sluggish and ineffective. Tragically, they met the same fate as their friend, being mercilessly destroyed in a flash.
"That was easy." Easy was an understatement. Kalista lowered her shadow barrier, only to find several golems standing just a few feet away from her. "Oh come on!" Kalista sucked her teeth. The golems, whose identity and purpose were unknown to Kalista, were becoming increasingly bothersome, and their incessant persistence only intensified her disdain for them. "With all due disrespect, you guys are a real pain in my ass."
Kalista watched the golems rush at her, shaking the ground beneath them, much to her annoyance. They really couldn't do anything without being in groups for it, could they? Apparently not. In any case, Kalista extended her shadow, gradually encompassing both herself and her crystal adversaries, who were completely oblivious to the chance, continuing their charge toward their opponent. With a fleeting smirk, Kalista raised her hand and numerous shadow spikes emerged from the ground, impaling her enemies and destroying them in one blow.
"And that's that." Kalista turned to look at her comrades, Zuki and Ghia, who were dealing with their own foes. "Hold on guys, I'm coming."
As Kalista attempted to approach her friends, three golems positioned themselves in front of her, blocking her path, but their own efforts were halted when she parted her lips and released an overwhelming stream of purple flames filled with pure rage, the scene reminiscent of a dragon, as it exhales fire and mercilessly scorches the unlucky bastard in its path. The golems writhed in excruciating pain as they were burned alive and ultimately reduced to nothing but ashes. As the ashes dropped to the ground, they were blown away by a strong gust of wind caused by Kalista, adding salt to the gaping wound.
With nothing else in her path, Kalista took off to aid Zuki and Ghia. Speaking of Zuki and Ghia, the boys were doing pretty well and successfully fending off Leviathan's golems. In all honesty, the humanoid crystals didn't possess much strength in comparison to Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista, but what the material-made men lacked in strength, they compensated for with their sheer numbers, though, unfortunately, their numbers were gradually dwindling.
"Let's try to keep damage to a minimum!" Zuki kicked a golem in the stomach before slamming it down.
Ghia landed an elbow to the stomach of another golem, swiftly followed by a spin-kick that sent it flying. "Don't have to tell me twice!"
Zuki and Ghia were unaware of the presence of a group of golems behind them, who were plotting to launch an unannounced assault, but Kalista came in clutch and intervened just in the nick of time, utilizing her supernatural ability to manipulate shadows and darkness. The dragon girl conjured a large and imposing shadow hand, using it to capture all the golems, and subsequently crushed them before forcefully slamming them onto the ground. Without pause, she lifted them up again, then hurled them out of the mall with great force.
Ghia blasted a golem away before turning to Kalista, who sliced another soldier. "What was that about?"
Kalista extended her finger toward a golem and swiftly impaled it in the head with a slender strand of shadow. "They tried to attack you."
"Ah." Ghia nodded and then gave Kalista a thumbs-up. "Thanks for the assist, Kal." Unnoticed by Kalista, a golem was standing behind her, brandishing a sword and ready to attack with a slice to the head, but Ghia intervened, beheading the golem with an energy blast. "An eye for an eye, my friend."
There was another golem behind Ghia, but it was quickly killed when Kalista created a shadow shuriken and cut it down. "Likewise."
Suddenly, Ghia and Kalista found themselves encircled by a sizable contingent of golems. Kalista clenched her teeth in reaction, while Ghia clicked his tongue. How annoying. Out of the corner of his eyes, Zuki noticed the golems who had surrounded his friends, and without hesitation, he dealt with a few soldiers before rushing over to offer his assistance.
"Ghia! Kali! Eyes shut!" Zuki ordered. "Don't open them until I say otherwise!"
"Right!" Doing as they were told with zero complaints, Ghia and Kalista closed their eyes, not opening them for even a second.
Zuki extended his hands and unleashed a rapid succession of miniature spheres of light. The light spheres detonated, but instead of the typical explosion, they emitted strong flashes of light that left the soldiers momentarily stunned. Taking advantage of the golem's temporary state of confusion, Zuki seized the opportunity to launch a counterattack. Utilizing their telekinetic abilities, the Earthling grasped their crystal goons and forcefully propelled them far out of Unity Plaza, sending them soaring high into the clouds and whatever lay beyond that.
"Alright, that should do it," Zuki said to himself before speaking aloud. "You guys can open your eyes now."
Kalista stretched her arms, letting out a small yawn as she did so. "About time," she said, relieved. "Did we get them all? I hope so."
"I don't see any more left, so yeah, we're good here." Ghia looked at the partially destroyed Unity Plaza. "Where did these guys come from?"
CRASH!
Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista watched in mild surprise as a police mech suddenly plummeted from the roof, crashing down right in front of them. The automatic mech was in a critical condition, desperately fighting to hold on to life. With a casual stride, Kalista approached the mech and humorously prodded it a few times, but all she received in response were mere twitches from the police-issued mech.
"This with me when we're done?" Kalista poked the leg of the mech with her foot. "The old crone and I could do with a butler, especially a robot one."
Ghia shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not sure," he responded. "The thing's in pretty bad shape. Unless you know a good mechanic, I'm going to say no."
"Guys, I don't want to come off as a Debbie Downer or anything like that, but we have bigger things to worry about." Ghia and Kalista found themselves initially confused, but their confusion dissipated when Zuki brought their attention toward the hole in the roof. Through the opening, they could see Leviathan hovering above, eyeing them from above. "I have a feeling that guy up there is the one responsible for creating those weird things we fought."
Ghia's eyes narrowed as he directed a fierce glare at Leviathan and slammed his fist into his palm, though it earned him laughter of mockery.
"A cocky dastard, isn't he?" murmured Ghia. "I'd like to wipe that smirk off his face."
"Then what are we standing around like a bunch of dopes for?" Kalista rose a few inches above the ground. "That guy isn't going to kill himself."
"Humans!" Leviathan announced, making sure his voice could be heard through the chaos. "On this day, you shall face the wrath of Leviathan!"
Kalista rolled her eyes in reaction. "Talk about self-assured..." she said to herself, less than amused. "All the more reason to beat him."
"The guys said his name was Leviathan," Zuki pointed out. "You guys ever heard of him? The name ringing any bells?"
The name Leviathan was lost on Ghia and Kalista.
Ghia shook his head. "Nope, not at all."
"I'd be saying something if I did, so no." Kalista didn't know the guy existed until recently. "If he's someone famous, then we're about to make history."
"Well..." Zuki raised his gaze to meet Leviathan's imposing presence. The boy was uncertain about the identity of the monstrous Leviathan. All that was known was his name, Leviathan, and that he was related to the events unfolding, therefore, it was crucial to seek answers. "Guess we're finding out. Come on!"
In a flash, Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista departed from Unity Plaza, leaving it behind in mere seconds.
Leviathan laughed that haughty laugh of his. "An excellent display," he smiled, sadistic joy in his eyes as he smacked down a helicopter. "Suffer humans."
Additional police mechs arrived at the scene, their objective being to stop the destructive rampage of the monstrous Leviathan within their city. They attempted to subdue the shark man by deploying gas designed to incapacitate it, but the formidable protector of the seas proved impervious to the gas and effortlessly swatted the mechs away, the machinery crashing into buildings.
"I HAVE THE TARGET IN MY LINE OF SIGHT!" A SCPD police helicopter was hovering over Leviathan. "THIS IS FOR MY CITY, YOU BASTARD!"
The helicopter was equipped with mounted machine guns, and the pilot proceeded to unleash a barrage of bullets upon Leviathan, but to their surprise, the bullets had zero effect. Leviathan had significantly greater strength than human weaponry, meaning that if the Earthlings desired to inflict any meaningful harm, they would have to employ a substantially superior arsenal.
"SHIT!" The pilot cursed, not in a desired position. "THAT THING'S STRONG!"
Leviathan chuckled. "And you are not..." Leviathan created a large hand made from water and grabbed the Helicopter. "Do me a favor and die."
"DAMN!" The pilot was in a state of panic, desperately attempting to flee but without success. "MAN DOWN! TELL MY WIFE AND KIDS I LOVE THEM!"
Leviathan forcefully hurled the pilot toward a building. The radio crackled with the pilot's terrified scream as he neared the brink of crashing into a building, facing the grim possibility of losing his life, but just before the fatal collision, someone quickly emerged and positioned themselves in front of the helicopter; the person was none other than Ghia, who skillfully caught the aircraft and brought them to the streets, averting the catastrophe.
The pilot hopped out of his helicopter and dropped to the ground. "Shit." Talk about a close call. "Really thought I was going to die back there..."
"You should be good, sir," Ghia said kindly. "I'd hightail it out of here before Goliath over there attempts something else."
The pilot had to agree with Ghia; he didn't want to deal with that shark guy again "Yeah, you have a valid point," he said. "What about you, though? This place isn't safe for anyone, especially a child." Leaving a child in the face of danger didn't sit well with the pilot. It was his job to protect the people of Sapphire.
Ghia rubbed the back of his head. "Me? I got this," he reassured. "You don't have to worry about anything, sir."
"If you say you'll be alright, then go ahead and have at it; after all, you're the one who somehow managed to catch a freaking helicopter in midair." Ghia couldn't help but let out a snicker at that. Having superpowers was a blessing...for the most part, that is. With a nod of respect, the pilot hopped into his helicopter and proceeded to start the engine. "Don't die out there, kid! That thing is on a rampage!"
The pilot departed, seeking a safer destination. With an annoyed eye roll, Leviathan accumulated a large sum of water and converted it into an explosive water ball, then hurled it toward the helicopter, intending to bring about its destruction, but Kalista intervened, conjuring a protective barrier made of shadows and stopping the water ball, thus allowing the pilot to escape. Leviathan sucked his teeth at the audacious girl who dared to stop his attack.
"Foolish girl." Leviathan shook his head at Kalista, who was joined by Zuki and Ghia. "For what reason do you have to save the worm? He will still die."
Kalista made a sound, showcasing disgust. "Sorry, but when you're attacking innocent people, I just have to step in."
"I second that," agreed Ghia. "Can't have people like you doing as they please."
Zuki nodded. "Likewise."
Leviathan coldly stared at Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista before bursting into a hearty laugh, leaving them thoroughly confused. What was so amusing? They didn't say anything funny. "Innocent humans, you claim?" Leviathan scoffed, his disdain evident in his tone. "You spout nothing but ignorance, but I should not be surprised considering that you are humans, and naive children at that." Leviathan gestured to the ground. "There are no innocent people, dear children. There are only those who have not yet committed a crime. For far too long, I have witnessed these 'innocent people' you speak of engage in horrid deeds against precious aquatic life. I have arrived here seeking retribution, and if I must face you in order to accomplish my goal, then so be it."
Zuki glared at Leviathan. "Not happening," he declared, dead set on defending his home. "Your reasoning? Understandable. The execution? Unacceptable."
"Yeah, there're some real scummy people who don't care about sea life, but they're those who do care," Ghia pointed out. "Don't they get a say?"
Kalisa smiled. "Have a heart, chum," she said, although it was more along the lines of mocking rather than genuine advice. "Surely, they're better options."
Leviathan shook his head, refusing to accept the words he was hearing. "Nonsense." Good humans? Please. The children live in a fantasy world. "Throughout centuries, I have consistently offered humanity countless opportunities to improve themselves, hoping that they would change for the better, but time and time again I am proven wrong. As a result, I have lost faith in the power of reasoning. Eliminating you is the only course of action I can take."
"So much for trying to bring rationality into the picture..." Kalista muttered, voicing mild bitterness, before facing her friends. "What's plan B, fellas?"
Zuki and Ghia traded looks, then turned back to Kalista. "We fight."
"Riiight, right. Figured that'd be the answer," Kalista said, stretching. "There'd better be a good strategy."
Zuki did have a plan. Deciding to enter a fight without one would be pretty reckless for him. "The guy's pretty strong, and that's putting it lightly." Zuki was keenly aware of Leviathan's high power level, and it was nothing to laugh about. "If any one of us were to fight him individually, we'd have a hard time and likely end up damaging ourselves more than him. However, if we fight as one and work together as a team, we can make good headway."
Ghia had little to no reservations about fighting as a team; he had done it before in the past and would do it again. "Sounds like a plan."
"I don't see any other solution," Kalista added. "Let's hope this doesn't blow up in smokes."
Having set their plan in motion, Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista were prepared to engage in battle.
"Don't hold anything back!" ordered Zuki. "If we screw up even once, who knows what'll happen!"
Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista started to power up, resulting in Sapphire City rumbling under the display of their power. The power levels of the trio increased, and noticeable changes occurred. The right sleeve of Zuki's jacket tore into shreds, exposing his right arm which was growing in muscle mass and becoming more muscular. Moreover, there was a Maori-style tribal tattoo in a glowing golden-yellow color that started from his shoulder and snaked all the way down his arm, even reaching his fingertips. Ghia's hair flickered, switching between black and golden, but then he let out a primal scream, and a flash of light arose. When the light subsided, Ghia could be seen. The Saiyan-hybrid had transformed into a Super Saiyan. His hair was spiky and standing up, golden instead of black; his eyes were sharp and greenish-blue in color, exuding determination; and a fiery golden aura surrounded his frame. Lastly, there was Kalista, whose skin became adorned with black markings, while his arms, legs, and wings took on a dark hue as shadows enveloped them, slightly increasing their size.
The young fighters took on a transformed state, and hopefully, it would increase their chances of survival.
Instead of reacting in shock or even fear, Leviathan chuckled. "Oh my." Leviathan was honestly impressed. "I didn't think humans could transform." Ironically, the only human present was Zuki. "Tell me, will this be enough to defeat me? I do hope you have a trick or two up your sleeve, or you will have a bad time."
"I'll keep that in mind." Ghia turned toward Zuki and gave a nod, to which the Earthling responded with a small nod of their own. "Enough talk."
Ghia and Zuki sprinted forward and administered a forceful kick to Leviathan's stomach, causing him to stumble back momentarily before regaining his balance. The shark man was surprised that Earthlings were able to hit him. Perhaps they had become stronger since the last encounter he had with them. With a mighty stomp, Leviathan caused his crystals to arise and encase the feet of Zuki and Ghia. The shark man, wearing a smirk, confidently raised his hand, conjuring two crystal spears with the intention of using them to stab Zuki and Ghia, but Kalista intervened, utilizing her control over darkness to slash the crystal spears to pieces with shadow tendrils. Leviathan directed his attention towards Kalista, unleashing a powerful torrent of water from his mouth, but the resourceful dragon girl retaliated by forming a barrier of shadows, effectively thwarting the incoming blast.
Leviathan crossed his arms. "Interesting..." he said internally. "The little girl and her shadow powers are definitely going to present a problem later down the road." Leviathan redirected his focus towards Zuki and Ghia, who had managed to escape their crystallized confinement through force and were swiftly advancing toward him. "These children are much stronger than they appear. I initially presumed that they were ordinary humans, nothing more, nothing less, but it appears that my assumption is incorrect. No matter. Under no circumstances will I succumb to humans and bring disgrace upon the seas."
Leviathan generated sizable water bubbles infused with his energy and hurled them at Zuki and Ghia, but they neutralized the bubbles using ki blasts, preventing any harm to themselves or their surroundings. Zuki and Ghia dashed towards Leviathan, launching a rapid succession of punches, but the agile shark man skillfully evaded their attacks. Zuki and Ghia threw a ki-charged punch, but Leviathan caught them and smirked. The shark man had to admit that, to be honest, it was a commendable effort, but as the old saying goes, 'good is not sufficient'.
Leviathan's jaws opened up, revealing a cavernous maw ready to unleash a devastating surge of azure energy, yet, in the very instant before his destructive power could be unleashed and vaporize his enemies, Kalista came to the rescue and hurled a scalding fireball that hit his back, momentarily freezing his malevolent intentions. Sighing, Leviathan turned to face Kalista, feeling a stronger sense of annoyance rather than anger. To the shark man's mild surprise, he witnessed tendrils of darkness slithering towards him with great speed, then immediately coiled around his body like snakes capturing their prey.
"Okay." Leviathan looked down at the shadow tendrils. He could've easily broken free if he wanted to. "What now, little gir-"
Wordlessly, Kalista forcefully pulled Leviathan away from Zuki and Ghia and began to spin the shark man around before tossing him away.
"Die, shark week!" Kalista's hands were swathed in a mystical, smoke-like aura of darkness, swirling and dancing with an ethereal grace. With a brisk motion, the young dragon woman extended her hands, aiming them at Leviathan, and unleashed a flurry of balls made from shadows. "Exploding Shadows!"
The shadow balls from Kalista reached Leviathan in seconds and immediately detonated upon contact, hence the name 'Exploding Shadows'. As the relentless onslaught of shadow balls collided with Leviathan, the explosive force behind each impact sent the shark man backward. Leviathan was relentlessly pushed back by Kalista's shadow balls until a final shadow ball, a large one, struck him, sending him crashing to the ground as it exploded upon impact.
A massive explosion occurred, resulting in a cloud of dust that engulfed the surroundings.
"I know that didn't do much, but at least it got him off our asses for the time being." Among Zuki and Ghia, Kalista was the weakest, although not so weak that she would be completely unhelpful. Despite her lack of power, the dragon girl compensated with her technique and good timing. Kalista squinted as she looked down at the sizable cloud of smoke below, and a faint reddish-pink aura was covering her eyes. "What are you doing...?" Kalista could see Leviathan perfectly through the smoke, and the villainous shark man seemed to be charging some kind of attack. "Heads up, boys! Shark boy's about to attack!"
"My name is Leviathan, little girl." Leviathan was standing not far from his young enemies, scaring them. "I believe I told you this earlier."
In a synchronized manner, the trio of Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista spun their bodies around to immediately attack their aquatic adversary. Zuki and Ghia fired their own ki blasts, whereas Kalista discharged a stream of scalding-hot fire from her mouth. A smug smirk adorned Leviathan's face as he moved behind Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista before their attacks could hit him and extended a hand, then sent them flying backward through the use of a Kiai.
"Too easy..." Leviathan stuck a hand out, aiming it at Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista. "Boiling Shiver."
Using his power over water, Leviathan conjured multiple boiling-hot water balls that transformed into menacing sharks. Leviathan, sporting a nasty grin on his face, thrust his water sharks forward and sent them to deal with his enemies. Over with Zuki, Ghia, and Kaista, the trio were still being propelled back until they finally halted their movement and managed to regain their balance, just in time to notice Leviathan's sharks approaching them. Instantly, the trio tried to stop the sharks with ki blasts and fire, but to their surprise, the sharks avoided their attacks by moving around them and continuing to pursue them.
"You have GOT to be kidding me!" Kalista complained. "Do those things have a mind of their own or something?!"
"I don't know, and frankly, I don't care!" Ghia unleashed a shower of energy waves, but Leviathan's sharks skillfully evaded them. "Dammit!"
Steam billowed from the sharks of Leviathan, their bodies simmering and producing bubbles. The sharks increased their speed, moving faster than before, and just as Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista were about to try their luck and attack again, they were all hit by the sharks, who exploded upon contact. The trio let out screams of agony as the explosion rocked their senses, and the scalding water only intensified their pain. Leviathan's laughter echoed through the air, resonating with the sinister tone of a supervillain. With a grand gesture, the shark man extended his arms and utilized his crystal power to create a myriad of jagged crystal spheres into existence, and with calculated precision, he unleashed the aforesaid crystalline projectiles upon his adversaries.
Leviathan's crystals descended from the sky like meteors, striking Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista and forcefully driving them to the ground.
THUD!
THUD!
THUD!
Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista all harshly landed on the ground, their faces contorted in pain as they let out groans. In addition to the heroes hitting the ground, crystal balls dropped down as well, with some leaving craters in the ground and others destroying buildings, further damaging Sapphire.
"Dammit..." Kalista was on the cold floor, groaning in pain. "My body burns..."
"Come now, children." Leviathan was levitating in the air, looking down on his enemies. "Given all the talk about your plan to prevent me from eradicating humanity, I had presumed that you would present a more formidable resistance." Leviathan faux sighed. "You know, I am not fond of time-wasters."
Annoyed, Zuki gritted his teeth. "Shut up..." The young Earthling slowly rose to his feet and cast Leviathan a scowl. "Just shut up. We're not done yet."
"Y-Yeah..." Ghia nodded in agreement and rose to his feet as well. "We won't stop until we're dead."
Leviathan looked at Zuki and Ghia with a face of mild interest. Truthfully, he would be a lying shark if he said he wasn't impressed by the boys' human stubbornness, even though it was silly in his eyes. Sure, it wouldn't help them, but still, it was nice to see. Kalista also got back up and was ready to fight.
"Until death, you say?" Leviathan smiled hearing that, and it was obvious why. "I will take note of that, and I recommend that you do as well, human child."
Kalista unleashed a fireball from her mouth, only to witness Leviathan evade it with a nonchalant dodge. Frustration welled up within Kalista as she cursed, vexed by her attack being dodged with ease, but she couldn't help but acknowledge Leviathan's skill as a formidable fighter, tempering her annoyance.
"A simple fireball? Is that all you can muster, little gir-"
Immediately cutting Leviathan off was a spinning beam of light that he easily dodged by tilting his body to the side and letting it zoom past him like a bullet, except much faster and stronger. Unknown to the shark man, the attack was a Light Volution that came from Zuki. With a smug smirk on his face, Leviathan stretched his hand out, charging an energy attack, fully prepared to obliterate his Earthling adversaries, but before he could unleash his devastating blast, he was suddenly struck from behind by the very same attack he had evaded earlier, Zuki's Light Volution, unaware of its boomerang-like ability.
"W-What...?" Leviathan was pushed forward and stumbled on his feet after being struck from behind by Zuki's Light Volution. "What that h-GAH!"
Leviathan's stomach was met with a brutal, ki-charged punch from Zuki. Leviathan emitted a long wheeze of pain as he glared at Zuki. The sea monster raised his hand, preparing to attack, but before he could, Ghia swiftly intervened and kicked him far away. Zuki and Ghia faced each other, trading nods, then chased after Leviathan before he could get too far, with Kalista following after them, albeit at a slightly slower pace due to her different way of flying.
It didn't take Zuki and Ghia very long to find Leviathan, who was still flying through the air. Without hesitation, the boys discharged a powerful storm of combined energy waves, causing immense explosions and Sapphire to quake under the blaring sounds they made. Leviathan was forced to deal with the explosions, prompting him to scream, although his screams were muffled by the chaos. Energy wave after energy wave. Zuki and Ghia mercilessly fired ki blasts until they ceased fire and brought their hands together, forming a large ball of ki, which they then unleashed upon Leviathan, who was recovering.
Leviathan was breathing heavily, vowing revenge on the wretched children who had attacked him, when he suddenly noticed an energy ball hurtling towards him, its bright golden light illuminating him. The energy ball was moving fast, leaving him with minimal time to react appropriately; his best option was to go on the defensive and block the attack. What a pain. He had underestimated the Earthlings, but the battle was not over yet. Not by a long shot.
Zuki and Ghia's combined energy attack reached Leviathan, and...
BOOM!
A bright light engulfed Zuki, Ghia, Kalista, Leviathan, and everything else in Sapphire as a massive explosion occurred.
After the chaos subsided and the blinding light diminished, Leviathan could be seen in his entirety. The protector of the seas was harboring bruises with some portions of his clothes being tattered. The former was experiencing some pain, but it wasn't severe enough to prevent them from continuing to fight.
"Tch!" Leviathan sucked his teeth in annoyance. "How infuriating." Leviathan extended his hand, giving the initial impression that he was about to launch an attack, but to everyone's surprise, he redirected his hand toward a nearby fire hydrant. "Come to me. Replenish my strength..."
Zuki arched an eyebrow in confusion. "What's he doing now?" he asked. "Is he going to attack us with a fire hydrant?"
The fire hydrant trembled abruptly, shaking with great intensity before water forcefully erupted from it. Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista stood on guard, anticipating an imminent attack from the water gushing out of the fire hydrant, but to their confusion, the water did not make any aggressive move toward them. To their astonishment, Leviathan seamlessly absorbed the water, using it to gradually mend his bruises, causing them to vanish as though they were never there.
"Hold on, that bastard can heal himself?" Kalista growled lowly in reaction, a small puff of smoke coming from her nose. "Talk about bullshit..."
Healed to completion, Leviathan's cocky smirk reappeared. The shark man felt so replenished. "Water. So unbelievably refreshing." Leviathan threw a series of lightning-fast air punches, with each punch accompanied by a powerful Kiai. "Apologies for having to make you wait, children." Leviathan turned to face Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista, a haunting smile adorning his face. "I simply required a brief respite. I do believe it is time to recommence our battle, is it not?"
Leviathan clapped his hands, generating a mighty shockwave that forcefully pushed his enemies backward. Suddenly, the body of the shark man began to twitch, and with a resounding howl, multiple tendrils coated with razor-sharp crystals erupted from his body and stretched out in different directions.
"WOAH!" Kalista ducked, narrowly dodging one of the tentacles. "You asshole! Why don't you just share all of your tricks!"
Leviathan turned to Kalista, creating a giant fist made from water. "If you insist, my dear."
"Me and my big mouth..." Kalista really had to learn to keep her thoughts to herself. They often got her in trouble.
Leviathan guided his watery fist to strike the spot where Kalista was positioned, but the dragon girl skillfully evaded the attack by leaping away, thus avoiding any potential harm. Leviathan growled menacingly as he fired a powerful ki blast, which was purposefully aimed at the ground behind Kalista. The young dragon girl was caught off by the unexpected move as she was forcefully pushed forward, stumbling on her feet and struggling to regain her balance. Taking advantage of the opportune moment, Leviathan moved in front of Kalista, then firmly grabbed her shirt and lifted her up as if she were a valuable trophy.
"KALISTA!" Zuki and Ghia were filled with horror upon witnessing their best friend being in their foe's grasp.
Kalista gritted her fanged teeth. "Dammit!" she cussed. "Sneaky bastard!"
Concerned, Zuki and Ghia promptly tried to stop Leviathan from harming, or even potentially killing, their friend, but the shark man prevented them from doing so by constructing more of his crystal golems to hinder their efforts. While Zuki and Ghia were busy dealing with the golems, Leviathan turned his focus to Kalista; he gave her a wicked grin, which caused her to scowl in response. Kalista was about to say something, presumably disrespectful, but Leviathan punched her hard in the stomach, resulting in a long wheeze of pain. Among the three children with whom he was fighting, he harbored the strongest aversion towards her due to her disrespectful attitude and her potentially hazardous powers, which could pose a threat if used correctly.
"Time for you to die, little girl," Leviathan smirked sadistically.
Despite being in pain, Kalista had an equally smug smirk on her face. She had a plan. "It's adorable that you think that."
Kalista made a repulsive sound, one that was utterly horrendous to the ears of Leviathan, who made a face of disgust. Honestly, did humanity have no shame in the current day? Just as the villainous shark man was about to silence her with an energy blast to the face, she did the unthinkable. Nothing that nobody would've expected. She hocked a loogie in his face. A loogie. Leviathan was understandably sickened to the core by what Kalista had done, causing him to unconsciously let go of her and wash his face with water while muttering profanities. After being freed, Kalista converted her body into a shadow and silently escaped from Leviathan; she then reunited with Zuki and returned to her original form, wearing a smirk on her face. Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Zuki and Ghia dealt with Leviathan's golems with ease and were about to deal with their creator to rescue Kalista from his clutches, but they discovered that the shadow-using girl had already managed to free herself and regrouped with them, standing by their side. Leviathan was still washing his face and cursing Kalista, feeling a stronger hatred towards her than ever before. Once the villain regained his vision, he was met by the sight of Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista racing towards him. Spiked tentacles were once again issued from Leviathan's body, but Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista were able to avoid them and advance further.
Zuki turned to Kalista. "Kali! That move we practiced a while back! Let's perform it!" Zuki then turned to Ghia. "G, I need you to distract Leviathan!"
"Okay!" Kalista and Ghia both agreed at the same time.
Assuming the role of the distraction, Ghia surged forward with a decent plan in mind. The blonde-haired fighter discharged a slew of energy waves at Leviathan, who rolled his blue eyes and generated a protective shield using his ki. The shark's ki-based shield effectively blocked the energy waves unleashed by his Saiyan adversary and even redirected them in different directions.
"Adorable," Leviathan mocked. "Is that all you can mus-"
Ghia ascended above Leviathan and, using immense strength, forcefully slammed his foot down on the top of Leviathan's head, causing them to buckle and drop to one knee. Continuing, the half-Saiyan powered up, his power level increasing, and let loose a flurry of impactful strikes upon his aquatic foe's face, relentlessly pummeling them with lightning-fast punches and kicks.
"Choke on this!" Ghia bellowed.
Ghia reeled his leg back, infusing it with his energy, then kicked Leviathan hard in the cheek. The kick was strong enough to send the humanoid shark backward and cause them to stumble on their feet. Ghia shifted his gaze towards Zuki and Kalista, a subtle grin of contentment playing on his lips as he moved away, giving the pair room to attack. He had completed the task assigned to him, and all that remained was to relax and enjoy the spectacle.
Over with Zuki and Kalista, the duo were getting ready for their coordinated team attack. Zuki and Kalista extended their hands, each holding something unique. In Zuki's palm, there were golden-yellow cubes made from light, casting a luminous glow. Meanwhile, Kalista held a mysterious smoke-like ball of shadow, emanating a dark, smokey aura. Heaving a shout, Zuki and Kalista threw their respective objects at Leviathan. The hard light cubes emitted an even brighter glow before transforming into the likeness of Zuki, becoming doppelgangers made of light. Similarly, the shadow ball conjured by Kalista broke apart into multiple spheres, which then assumed the form of Kalista herself, manifesting as shadowy doppelgangers.
"What in the...?" Leviathan was completely dumbfounded as he gazed at the Zuki and Kalista doppelgangers, who appeared as a combination of light and shadow respectively. Doppelgangers? Leviathan clenched his teeth, a mixture of frustration evident on his face. "Fantastic, absolutely fantastic. Every time I believe those children couldn't possibly become any more bothersome, they manage to prove me wrong."
Leviathan had devised a plan to create more crystal golems to effectively combat the doppelgangers, but before he could set his plan in motion, Zuki and Kalista made a move. Zuki, with his mastery over light, emitted a brilliant golden glow and converted himself into a beam of light, propelling himself forward at a speed surpassing that of light itself. With great skill, Zuki navigated through his and Kalista's doppelgangers, then positioned himself behind Leviathan's head and effortlessly reshaped himself back into his original state. Zuki delivered a swift kick to the back of Leviathan's head, while Kalista charged forward and landed a powerful punch to his stomach. Zuki and Kalista's doppelganger came into play, launching a relentless assault on Leviathan. They attacked the shark man with ferocity, targeting every vulnerable spot from his head down to his legs.
"ARGH!" Leviathan raged, unable to do anything about the doppelgangers. "You insufferable creatins!"
Kalista snorted amusingly. "I don't think the guy who's been talking shit for the past few minutes should be calling anyone insufferable."
"Enough of your words, wench! Do not think I forgot about what you did to me earlier!" With a shockwave, Leviathan pushed Zuki and Kalista's doppelgangers far away from him, then utilized his spiked tentacles to launch a violent attack, piercing and slashing them, causing them to be split into two. "Annoying pests!" Ghia lunged toward Leviathan, readying himself for an imminent attack, but he was grabbed and forcefully slammed to the ground. "Die!"
Leviathan crafted a giant crystal hammer and attacked Ghia with it, hammering the young Saiyan into the ground. Ghia howled in pain. Leviathan continuously attacked Ghia with his hammer, driving the leather-wearing boy deeper into the ground until they were fully submerged and trapped in concrete. Leviathan smiled sadistically, sticking a hand out and preparing to obliterate Ghia, only to be interrupted by Kalista, who dropped in front of him. Leviathan's smile widened, his eagerness to eradicate the girl from the face of the planet evident. An energy wave was fired by the shark man, casting a bright illumination across the surrounding area. Kalista narrowed her eyes and clutched Ghia by the shirt before expanding the size of her shadow until it was a large, vortex-like circle. Out of nowhere, a set of shadowy, ethereal arms emerged and grabbed Kalista, pulling her and Ghia down into the depths of the shadow.
As Kalista and Ghia made their departure, they managed to escape just in the nick of time. The powerful energy wave unleashed by Leviathan collided with the ground, resulting in a large explosion. Leviathan experienced a mixture of bafflement and anger. The villain was filled with irritation that the Earthlings managed to escape from him, particularly at the hands of a child wielding shadow powers, but at least there was at least one person remaining.
Leviathan faced Zuki. "Your friends have deserted you, boy." Allies leaving other allies behind? Leviathan was genuinely surprised (and a bit disgusted by that), but considering they were humans, he couldn't be too shocked. "I know it hurts to see, but allow me to lend my support by putting you out of your mi-"
"Shut up already!" Zuki gathered ki and started releasing them in the form of energy waves. "My friends didn't betray me, so quit acting like they did!"
Leviathan avoided Zuki's energy waves, even deflecting a couple, then promptly lunged at the latter when the opportunity presented itself and knocked them off the ground with a fast sweep-kick before utilizing Kiai to forcefully propel them away. Zuki cursed as he was flung backward, and as he gazed ahead, a nerve-wracking sight greeted him: Leviathan rushing at him and attacking with a relentless barrage of punches and kicks that he couldn't defend against.
"Dammit! His punches are way too fast!" Although Zuki hated to admit it, Leviathan was a skilled fighter. "This is exactly what I feared!"
Zuki found himself in the temporary position of being Leviathan's punching bag, having to endure the sea monster's relentless blows. With each powerful punch and kick, the Earthling was pushed further and further away from where he was until he was ultimately kicked into a nearby building, crashing through it and emerging on the other side. While Zuki continued to unwillingly fly through the sky, Leviathan moved above him and unleashed his aura. With a powerful surge of ki, the shark man brought his hands together, imbuing them with energy, then, with great force, he brought his hands down and slammed them upon Zuki's back, eliciting a scream of pain from the boy and subsequently causing them to plummet and collide with the unforgiving ground.
"U-Ugh..." Zuki was in pain, though it wasn't enough to impede him from fighting. The youth tried to get back up, but Leviathan interfered.
Leviathan slammed his foot against Zuki's stomach, prompting the boy to let out another scream, before grabbing him by the neck. Leviathan chuckled. "This is the end for you, little boy." Zuki gritted his teeth. "I know it is hard for you to hear, but it is the truth, unfortunately." Leviathan's grin widened, revealing his menacingly sharp teeth. "Since I am in a good mood, I will see to it that your unavoidable demise will be quick and painless...though that may change."
The sharp teeth of Leviathan were inching closer to Zuki's face, poised to rip it off in a single bite. "H-Hey!" exclaimed Zuki. "W-Wait a s-s-second!"
"Huh?" Shockingly, Leviathan actually stopped, much to Zuki's relief. "What is it, boy?"
"B-Before you kill me, w-would you like to hear my f-f-final words?" Zuki had a plan that went unnoticed by Leviathan, who fell for the bait.
Just like a fish.
Leviathan gave it some thought, rubbing his chin with his free hand, before reaching a conclusion. "Alright. Go on, boy, speak your mind." Leviathan knew that his actions were foolish, yet he continued to do them regardless. After all, no one had the power required to defeat him. "What are your last words?"
Zuki's face was adorned with a wide grin as he took a deep breath...then let out a supersonic scream of ungodly proportions. Leviathan was caught off guard as the sonic scream echoed through the air, its power stunning him. In a moment of shock, he instinctively dropped Zuki and hastily covered his ears.
"GYAH!" Leviathan roared, his body trembling. "S-SO DAMN LOUD! ARGH!"
Zuki was sprawled out on the ground momentarily, but not for long regained his composure and rose to his feet. With little time to waste, Zuki lunged at Leviathan as fast as he could and drove his fist hard against their cheek, knocking them back, then jumped back and raised his arms, generating electricity before bringing them down and summoning a devastating bolt of lightning, unleashing torrents of pain upon them. Leviathan screamed in utter pain, his body convulsing uncontrollably as electricity surged through him. Continuing his attack, Zuki extended his hands, gathering another surge of lightning, then released a pack of electric wolves to attack Leviathan.
With a piercing scream, Leviathan writhed in agony as the wolves sank their teeth into his flesh. Suddenly, the wolves detonated, releasing a powerful surge of electricity that only intensified the ferocious assault. Leviathan was in a state of twitching mess, and Zuki took advantage of his stunned condition. Zuki's body was engulfed in dancing flames as he lunged forward, leaving a fiery trail in his wake.
"SUN: DRAGON CLAW!" Zuki's hands were enveloped by a fire, which reshaped into claws.
Zuki attacked Leviathan's stomach with a deadly claw slash, leaving behind a searing scar that elicited a scream of agony from the shark. Continuing, Zuki transformed his flaming claws into flaming fists and delivered a devastating to Leviathan's chest. The villainous shark man wheezed in agony, feeling a burning sensation in his stomach. Zuki tightly gripped his fist and attacked Leviathan for a second time, landing a powerful blow to his jaw that knocked him off the ground and into the air. As Leviathan's body was in the air, Zuki launched himself upwards, delivering a relentless series of fiery punches. Each powerful blow unleashed a shockwave, effectively keeping Leviathan suspended in mid-air. With one final punch, Zuki propelled Leviathan higher into the air and then swiftly sped over him and forcefully slammed him back down to the ground with a fiery kick.
CRASH!
Leviathan hit the ground, groaning in pain as he did so.
"It's over." Zuki landed on the ground, standing over Leviathan. "Humanity isn't falling to you." Zuki's eyes glowed golden-yellow. "This is the end."
Leviathan scowled darkly. "Pompous child," he said. "This is not my end. Once I defeat you, you and your race of weaklings will perish at my hands!"
"Not in a million years," Zuki declared boldly. "Earth is under my protection. You save your people, I save mine."
Zuki poised himself to deal the decisive blow against Leviathan, fully intent on killing the shark with an energy wave straight to their head, but just as he was about to fire his blast, they retaliated by opening their mouth and unleashing an incredibly powerful wave of energy in response. The massive energy wave successfully pushed Zuki several feet away, granting Leviathan the precious moments needed to regain his composure and recover.
"Unbelievable..." Leviathan brushed away the dirt and debris that clung to his body. A police mech appeared from behind the protector of the sea, attempting to launch a surprise attack, but its futile efforts were thwarted as it was effortlessly backhanded and destroyed. Leviathan looked down at the scar he received from Zuki and scowled. "To think that a human being possesses the capability to cause harm to me. Evidently, a change is needed..."
Unknown to Leviathan, a swirling portal made from shadows suddenly surfaced behind him, and from within it emerged Kalista and Ghia. Kalista possessed the ability to summon portals through her manipulation of shadows, but there was a limit on the distance she could traverse using those portals. For instance, she's unable to utilize it for long-distance travel to places such as other countries, or even more extreme, planets and different universes; that would simply be beyond her capabilities. That being said, she has been told that she can improve her power, though it would take quite a bit of time and effort to master.
"Big thanks for the save, Kal." After experiencing several close encounters with death, Ghia was glad to have Kalista on his side. The pain caused by Leviathan's hammer still lingered, but Ghia could still fight. "If you hadn't stepped in when you did, I would've been flattened like a pancake."
Ghia was rewarded with an eye roll from Kalista. "You're welcome..." she muttered sardonically before looking to Leviathan. "Hey, Kenny the Shark!"
Upon hearing Kalista's voice, Leviathan turned around and cast a scowl in the direction of the dragon girl.
"Didn't think you'd see us again, did you?" Ghia taunted. "Did you miss us? I bet you did!"
Leviathan pounded his fist onto the ground, resulting in the emergence of multiple tentacles. Kalista and Ghia easily dodged the tentacles, with Kalista using her claws to take down a few of them. Kalista made use of her shadows to ensnare Leviathan, using shadow hands, but sadly, her efforts were in vain as the shark clapped his hands, generating a powerful shockwave. The force of the shockwave not only propelled Kalista backward, but it harbored enough power to send her crashing into a nearby building. Leviathan brought his hands together, unleashing a powerful ki blast aimed at Kalista. Kalista's eyes widened as she was lodged in a building. The dragon girl frantically wriggled her body, trying to free herself before Leviathan's blast could reach her, but unluckily, she was unable to do so in time. As Leviathan's ki blast approached her, she braced herself for the oncoming damage, but to her surprise, Zuki intervened and redirected the blast with a high kick. The blast soared into the sky and exploded, resulting in a huge explosion that shook the ground.
Leviathan growled. "You annoying Earthling!"
"Sorry, but you're whacked out of your mind if you think I'll let you kill my friend!" Zuki bellowed, opening his mouth and charging a ki attack.
Instantly, Zuki fired another Light Volution, but Leviathan evaded it. The shark man was about to attack, but he quickly recalled that his opponent's attack had a boomerang-like maneuver to it, so consequently, he pivoted his gaze to witness the imminent return of the impending attack that was Light Volution. Vexed, Leviathan gritted his teeth and stuck his hands out, stopping Light Volution, but he left himself vulnerable, and Zuki capitalized on that.
Harnessing his light powers, Zuki converted himself into a beam of light and used it to maneuver his way beside Leviathan in a flash, and before the villain knew it, they were high-kicked into the air. With Leviathan in the sky and a fair distance away from the streets of Sapphire, Zuki rushed at the former and began to deal damage in the form of an unyielding onslaught of fiery punches and kicks, each attack propelling them higher into the sky. Zuki distributed the final kick that elevated Leviathan even further into the sky, then dashed forward, rising above them until he was positioned far above where they were.
Zuki released a powerful, almost primal howl as his eyes lit up with a golden glow. At that moment, he discharged his heat vision upon Leviathan, hitting him squarely in the chest. The impact was so intense, so scaldingly painful that Leviathan couldn't help but let out a sharp scream of agony as his stomach was being roasted like a marshmallow. Zuki's heat vision exerted a force that compelled Leviathan to descend towards Sapphire until he hit the ground.
CRASH!
"Damn it all...!" Leviathan hissed in discomfort, steam billowing from his stomach. "That little-hngh!" Leviathan winced in pain from his recent injury. The shark had a vicious burn wound, but fortunately, it wasn't beyond his ability to heal. All he needed to do was absorb some water and he could fight again.
Zuki dropped down in front of Leviathan. With an imposing presence, the Earthling loomed above Leviathan, his figure casting an ominous shadow over the man. Just as he was about to use his heat vision and burn his foe to a crisp, an unexpected assault from a crystal golem caught him off guard. The golem's lack of strength prevented it from causing any damage to him. However, the force of the impact sent him flying several feet away, giving Leviathan ample time to regain his footing. The sea protector glanced at a nearby building, a small store, and used his hydrokinesis power to retrieve water bottles and jugs. With a hand gesture, he caused the liquids to burst out and absorbed them into his body to heal himself, thus making the wound on his body disappear.
Leviathan smirked, patting his healed chest. "Perfect." Leviathan looked to Zuki, who used his heat vision to cut his golem in half. "Time for revenge."
Several tentacles grossly burst from Leviathan's back and lunged at Zuki with the savage goal of impaling him with their spikes, aiming to impale him with their spikes, but Ghia stepped in and intervened, positioning himself in front of his friend and slicing through the tentacles using a razor-sharp energy disc before finishing them off with a quick ki blast. Ghia turned to face Zuki and forwarded him a small nod, with them returning the gesture in kind, knowing what their next plan of action was. In unison, the pair of fighters powered up and immediately dashed at Leviathan. The ocean dweller was preparing for his opponents to arrive with a menacing grin when suddenly he felt something tightening around his body. Bewildered, he glanced downward and discovered wisps of darkness entwined around his form, unmistakably coming from Kalista. Leviathan grumbled and turned to face Kalista, who was standing behind him.
"Be a good shark and hold still for me." The shadow strands wrapped around Leviathan tightened as Kalista clenched her palm.
Leviathan chuckled. "Do you believe that this can restrain me, young lady?"
"Nope." Leviathan was stronger than Kalista and could break free from her binds through sheer power. "But it can hold you off for a few seconds."
Leviathan noticed Zuki and Ghia rapidly approaching him, causing him to grit his teeth in reaction. "You clever little thing..."
WHAM!
The side of Leviathan's head was struck with a thunderous punch, causing a surge of pain to course through his skull, courtesy of Ghia's ruthless fist. As the immense power behind Ghia's punch sent Leviathan flying, colliding with and crashing through several buildings in the process, Zuki wasted no time chasing after him before he could get the opportunity to make a recovery. The Earthling's body became engulfed in scalding-hot flames as he unleashed a barrage of fiery punches and kicks, relentlessly attacking his opponent. Zuki's fire-infused fist collided with Leviathan's stomach like a thunderous cannonball, sending shockwaves through their body. The impact stole the very breath from the guardian's lungs, leaving them gasping for air like a stranded fish, but before they could recover, Ghia attacked from behind and elbowed them in the back, inflicting a searing agony that echoed through their bones.
Leviathan loudly before slowly lifting his head and glaring daggers at Zuki. "Y-You vexatious humans!" he stammered. "You will pay for-"
"HEADS UP BUTTERCUP!"
Leviathan raised his head and caught sight of Kalista speedily approaching him before delivering a mighty dive-kick to his head. With immense force, Kalista's kick forced Leviathan down, causing him to collide with the ground with a tremendous impact; the collision was so intense that it formed a deep crater upon contact. Leviathan uttered a faint groan, his gaze fixed on the blue sky above, but not for long as he shot to his feet and brushed the dust off his body.
"This is getting infuriating," lamented Leviathan. "It is evident that they perform more effectively when working collectively rather than individually." Leviathan rubbed his chin. "Separating them is the best course of action, but it is easier said than done. Just when I believe I have eliminated one, they resurface."
Kalista landed a few feet away from Leviathan, accompanied by Zuki and Ghia. "It's over, shark."
"Heh..." Leviathan had a plan, and he hoped that it would work in his favor. "Human arrogance will lead to your downfall."
Kalista wanted to facepalm, but she restrained herself. "Dude, I'm not a human." Kalista was growing increasingly annoyed by being referred to as a human when it was obvious that she wasn't. Was the shark standing before her somehow blind to her true nature? "Look." Kalista turned around showcasing her dragon wings and tail. "Can't you see that I have wings, horns, and a tail? I'm a dragon, a DRAGON. I'm not a human, and I've never been one."
"This has nothing to do with me, but I'm a part alien," Ghia chimed. "It's the reason why I can turn my hair blonde."
Leviathan rubbed his chin. "A dragon and an alien? I must say, I am quite surprised," he admitted. "But still..." Leviathan lifted his hand, causing the ground to quake as large water tentacles sprang from the ground. "I can not allow you to live. Your allegiance to the human race designates you as an enemy."
"Great..." Kalista murmured.
Leviathan pointed his fingers at Kalista, Zuki, and Ghia, and commanded his water tentacles to attack, specifically targeting Zuki and Ghia. Zuki and Ghia were able to easily dodge the tentacles' attacks, but they soon found themselves dealing with crystal golems that Leviathan made to keep them at bay. Leviathan, however, was facing off against Kalista, recognizing that she was the weaker of the two; he believed it would be easy to take her down and deal with her friends next, but he didn't underestimate her due to her shadow powers. Kalista cursed internally, gritting her fanged teeth. The teenage dragon girl found herself in a difficult situation, and she was fully aware of it. The best course of action for her was to wait until Zuki and Ghia took care of the freaky water tentacles that definitely wouldn't be out of place in a rated-R video and the golems; she didn't want to depend on them, but it was the only option.
"Finally, I am gifted the chance to do away with you, dragon girl!" Leviathan was attacking with a flurry of punches at Kalista, who was blocking them.
Kalista growled. "Then I suggest you make the most of it while you can!" she mocked. "I just need to hold out until Z and G arrive! I can do that, right?"
The punches from Leviathan carried both incredible power and speed. With every punch the sea guardian landed, Kalista winced in pain, even when she blocked them. Leviathan reeled his fist back, channeling his ki, and thrust it forward, landing a powerful punch to Kalista's stomach. The impact caused the young woman to wheeze in pain as she was pushed back, but she quickly regained her balance, just in time to witness her opponent charging at her.
"The fish man just doesn't quit..." Kalista grumbled. "It'd be impressive if it weren't such a pain in the ass."
Kalista opened her mouth and expelled a huge wave of fire from her mouth. Leviathan was taken aback at first, but then a smile graced his face as he opened his mouth, releasing an immense wave of water in response. The fire of Kalista and the water of Leviathan clashed, resulting in a sudden burst of evaporation, which resulted in a cloud of mist enveloping Kalista and Leviathan, making it difficult for them to see. Despite the cloud of evaporation obstructing her vision, Kalista remained undisturbed, and using her mystical eyes, she effortlessly saw right through the heavy haze and was able to find where Leviathan was.
"I got you now," Kalista smirked. "Been working on this bad boy for a while now."
With her control over umbrakinesis, Kalista immediately ensnared Leviathan with a variety of shadow tendrils, catching him by surprise. Harnessing her powers even further, the young dragon woman constructed a sizeable dragon made from darkness and directed it towards Leviathan. Swooping down like a hawk, the dark dragon forcefully plowed headfirst into Leviathan before bubbling up and detonating, damaging the shark man with a mighty explosion. Leviathan didn't sustain major damage from Kalista's dark dragon, but he still experienced pain, particularly because hadn't expected it due to his vision being obscured.
"Shadow Blades!" Kalista extended her arms and summoned forth an army of jagged swords forged from the depths of darkness. "Attack!"
Leviathan was descending to the ground, and as he gazed upwards, he beheld a multitude of blades hurtling towards him. The shadow blades approached swiftly, yet the shark man proved to be even swifter; he enveloped his body in a shimmering layer of crystals, inviting the blades to assail him, and they did as they grazed against the crystalline surface, much to Kalista's vexation. Leviathan gracefully spun his body around and landed on his feet like a cat (shark).
Frustrated, Kalista growled and lunged at Leviathan, launching a series of deadly claw slashes, but the latter evaded each one before retaliating by punching her in the stomach and kicking her back. Kalista unleashed a stream of fireballs from her mouth, but Leviathan was able to dodge them all with ease, then swiftly moved in front of her using Rapid Movement, cupping his hands together and striking her head, causing her to drop to her knees. Leviathan gripped his fist, preparing to deliver the final blow to Kalista, but she transformed into a shadow, slithering behind the villainous shark before returning to her original form and seizing him with her shadows, then throwing him away. Leviathan rolled across the ground, but not for as long as he quickly stopped and recovered.
"Water Bomb!" Leviathan brought his index and middle fingers together, then lifted them to create multiple explosive spheres of water.
Gritting her fanged teeth, Kalista made the decision not to dodge or block the water balls. No, what the dragon girl chose to do instead was extend her hand and create another one of her portals. The water balls of Leviathan made their way into Kalista's portal. At first, nothing seemed to occur, but before long, a second shadow portal materialized behind the guardian of the sea, and the water balls emerged and struck them directly in the back, taking them by surprise.
"She used my attack against me." Leviathan rubbed his back. "I'm uncertain as to how she accomplished it, but it will prove to be an issue."
With a grand gesture, Leviathan raised his arms high, leading the very ground to tremble beneath him. Bursting from the earth were columns of water, serving as weapons to assail Kalista, but she swiftly retaliated, using her shadow portals to transport the columns back to their owner, who easily dodged them.
Kalista gritted her teeth. "You're a real pain in the ass, buddy!" she barked, creating large shadow tendrils. "Midnight Crush!"
With a nightmarish expression, Kalista closed her hand, causing her shadow tendrils to sprout jagged spikes. The dragon girl pushed her hand forward, unleashing her deadly tendrils upon Leviathan. The thick tendrils ripped through the ground like a hot knife through butter, destroying anything unfortunate enough to be nearby, including police mechs and occasional golems, but their creator didn't seem to care all that much, knowing he could easily make more.
Leviathan navigated through Kalista's shadow tendrils, although he couldn't deny that he faced some challenges due to their sheer number.
"Your ability to manipulate shadows is, I must say, quite remarkable." Leviathan dodged another onslaught of shadow tendrils. "Abnormal, but unique."
"If you like my shadows so much..." Kalista stretched her arms out and made two kusarigama from darkness. "Then you'll love these! Shadow Slash!"
With a swift motion, Kalista spun her kusarigama before launching an attack on Leviathan. The dragon skillfully hacked and slashed, giving her best effort, but unfortunately missed as Leviathan proved to be too fast to be hit. Kalista wasn't annoyed. If anything, she was actually banking on her opponent to dodge her attack; see, she had a backup plan in mind. The kusarigama she's wielding leaves trails of darkness behind, and she intends to make good use of them.
"Dragon Talon!" Kalista barked, attacking Leviathan with her weapons again.
As Kalista's kusarigama sliced through the cold air, another streak of darkness came into existence, stretching across the battlefield like a snake. From within the supernatural darkness emerged a multitude of shadow-made hands, their nightmarish claws gleaming with a malevolent sharpness, more than ready to rip their target to shreds without a hint of mercy. Leviathan was naturally bewildered, but before he had a chance to say anything, he found himself being chased down by the razor-sharp claws of darkness. Leviathan fired a barrage of energy waves, damaging the hands, but despite his efforts, the hands either regenerated or were replaced by new ones, leaving him with no choice but to maneuver around them, dodging and weaving to the best of his ability.
"That girl is relentless, not that she has any reason not to be." Leviathan flew upwards, narrowly dodging a claw slash from one of the shadow hands.
"You're not getting away from that easily, you cocky son of a bitch!" Kalista declared, sticking her hands out and creating a ball of darkness. "Black Hole!"
Kalista raised her hands and launched her attack high into the air. The dragon girl's super attack, known as Black Hole, started off small, roughly about the size of its creator's hand, but that would eventually change as it grew, its size increasing. Leviathan found himself perplexed by the enigmatic black hole, unsure of its nature. In an attempt to destroy it, the shark fired an energy blast, only to be astounded when it was eaten up like it was some kind of delicious meal.
"That thing. It assimilated my attack as if it were nothing." Leviathan furrowed his eyebrows before turning to Kalista. "If I take her out, is it possible that-"
Leviathan train of thought was brought to a screeching halt as he was suddenly yanked forward, and he was unable to control his sudden movements. The source of the problem was Kalista's attack, Black Hole, which was drawing in anything in its vicinity, as is typical for black holes. It is worth noting that Kalista's Black Hole is not an actual black hole, but rather an ability that imitated the characteristics of one. Leviathan found himself being pulled towards the black hole at an alarming speed, his body becoming stuck and unable to escape its strong gravitational pull; he felt a sense of vulnerability, knowing that he was now susceptible to any form of attack, which was exactly what Kalista had anticipated and was counting on, the young dragon spinning her kusarigama around.
"That ass is mine now!" exclaimed Kalista with a manic grin on her face.
Leviathan clenched his teeth tightly as he was gradually pushed deeper into Kalista's Black Hole, eventually becoming fully consumed by its darkness. The shark man found himself surrounded by an eerie darkness for a brief moment, until the black hole he was trapped in exploded, revealing the outside world once more. Leviathan, dazed and in pain, found himself hurtling towards the ground, but in a swift and decisive move, Kalista intervened by hurling her kusarigama, skillfully ensnaring its chains around his neck. With a widening grin, Kalista pulled Leviathan closer to her, firmly gripping her other kusarigama.
"Not good! Not good! Not good!" Leviathan was panicking, sweat streaming down his face. "I will not be slain by this girl! I must complete my mission!"
Leviathan firmly grasped the dark chain linked to Kalista's kusarigama. Utilizing his crystal powers, the shark man enveloped the chain in crystals. Slowly but surely, the crystals on the chain made their way toward Kalista, eventually encasing her hand and the right side of her body in a shimmering crystal shell.
"H-Hey!" Shocked, Kalista glanced down at her left torso. "How did you-"
Leviathan unleashed a forceful kick to Kalista's stomach, causing her to be propelled downward and crash onto the ground. Inwardly cursing, Kalista glanced up and witnessed Leviathan firing a relentless onslaught of energy waves from above. The dragon girl's left side was still encased in crystals, so with her free hand, she conjured another shadow portal. Leviathan's energy balls passed through the shadow portal and emerged behind their creator, hitting their back.
With the little time she had, Kalista swiftly reached for the crystal shell situated on the left side of her body and effortlessly tore it off in one fluid motion.
"Fucking hell..." Kalista cursed, looking up at Leviathan who was racing toward her. "I can't even get a small break from this guy."
As Leviathan came crashing down, Kalista swiftly executed a backflip, leaping to safety just in time to avoid the shark man's impact, landing where she originally stood. Leviathan wasted no time as he lunged at Kalista like the wild mammal he was, administering a powerful punch, but the quick-witted dragon girl responded by generating a small shadow portal. Leviathan's fist entered the portal and emerged from another one right beside his face, causing him to inadvertently punch himself. After being knocked back by his own attack, Leviathan was vulnerable, and Kalista wasted no time in seizing the perfect opportunity to strike. The dragon girl ensnared her foe with shadow tendrils, lifting them up and forcefully slamming them to the ground with great force.
CRASH!
CRASH!
CRASH!
With relentless force, Kalista repeatedly slammed Leviathan to the ground, each impact shaking the ground beneath them. Finally, she squeezed him tightly, then launched him into the air, his body soaring through the sky. Kalista stuck a hand out and darkness came into existence around her hand before taking the shape of a long, razor-sharp scythe and it didn't take a genius to know what it was going to be used for. Kalista spun her new scythe around before charging at Leviathan, leaving a trail of darkness behind. Gritting his teeth, Leviathan looked downward and saw Kalista charging at him with her newly acquired weapon.
"You're done, shark week!" Kalista exclaimed.
Kalista was getting closer to Leviathan, almost ready to slice him in two, but to her surprise and annoyance, the shark man split himself in two just before smoothly moving behind her and blasting her away with a quick energy wave. As Kalista soared through the air, she swiftly regained her balance and proceeded to unleash a series of deadly shadow slashes upon Leviathan, but the guardian of the sea skillfully evaded every one of her attacks with ease.
Kalista lunged at Leviathan, swinging her scythe in an attempt to strike him, but she found it difficult to land a hit, especially with the speed difference.
"Will! You! Just! Stay! Still?!" Kalista growled with anger in her voice.
"And allow you to kill me?" Leviathan dodged Kalista's swings. "Absolutely not!"
Kalista elevated her hands high, raising her scythe, then brought it down in a fierce downward slash, but Leviathan intercepted the bladed section with his hands before kicking her back in the process, and then utilizing his tentacles to seize her by the neck and draw her close, locking eyes with her intently.
"I am ending this charade now!" Water materialized around Leviathan's hand, then transformed into a spinning drill. "Goodbye!"
Despite Kalista's best efforts, she struggled to free herself from Leviathan's grasp; the shark's tentacle hold was incredibly strong, making it impossible for her to break free. Leviathan chuckled wickedly as his water drill was slowly nearing Kalista's face. Kalista squirmed around, desperately trying to escape, but her efforts were in vain. Was the dragon girl's end near? Was she going to die so early in her life? What would her friend think? What would her grandma think?
Slowly but surely, Kalista was on death's doorstep...but Zuki had some objections to that.
The Earthling had dealt with Leviathan's golems and could focus on saving his friend. The former created an energy sawblade and used it to slice through the tentacle restraining Kalista. At the same time, Ghia appeared out of nowhere and landed a strong punch on Leviathan's head, sending him flying backward.
"You alright, Kal?" Ghia asked, concerned for his friend.
Kalista rubbed her sore neck. "Yeah..." she replied. "The bastard would've offed me if you two hadn't shown up when you did. The fucker's strong." Despite landing some decent hits, Kalista's attacks were never sufficient to permanently stop Leviathan in his tracks. "Appreciate the save from you blokes."
"We need to end this now," Zuki chimed. "Thankfully, I have a plan, and I think it might help us"
Kalista arched an eyebrow. "Might?" she asked incredulity. "It might help us, or it will help us? There's a difference, you know. What do you even have?"
"The Special Beam Cannon." Zuki raised his index and middle fingers. "Something new I learned."
Kalista could only stare at Zuki as if he had a bug on his face. "I'm sorry, the fucking what?" she said. "Special Beam Cannon? The hell is that?" In the past, Kalista had heard a long list of insane things, but 'Special Beam Cannon' definitely ranked among the top ten. "I'm starting to think you watch too much TV."
"It's a move I learned from Mr. Piccolo," explained Zuki. "I charge it up, then I fire an energy beam that pierces through Leviathan's head. It should work."
"Hold on a second; if you had that the entire time, why didn't you-"
Zuki covered Ghia's mouth. "Let's get this going!" he exclaimed, interrupting Ghia. "If we're going to pull this off, I'll need some time." The Special Beam Cannon had the advantage of being powerful, but the disadvantage was that it took a long time to charge. "Think you guys can hold Leviathan off for me?"
Kalista folded her arms, her eyes furrowed. "By how much? A minute? A few seconds?"
"Five minutes." Zuki held up five hands. "You've fought him for longer than five minutes, so you should be good."
Kalista was silent before she eventually broke her silence. "Five minutes? Are you fu-"
"Kal..." Ghia interrupted Kalista in the middle of her sentence. "Let's just give the boy his five minutes." Ghia didn't like being the bait just as much as Kalista did, but it wasn't like there was another option to work with. "I hope this Special Beam Cannon of yours works, Z. If not, we have a big issue on our hands."
"It'll work," Zuki reassured. "If not, then we might need to bring in help."
Suddenly, an energy wave was unleashed toward Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista, but Ghia intercepted the attack, redirecting it into the air with a kick until it detonated with a powerful explosion. The attacker was Leviathan, who approached Zuki, Ghia, and Kalista. Ghia and Kalista furrowed their eyebrows and exchanged glances before refocusing their attention on Leviathan. The teenagers were prepared to fight the villain and give Zuki the time he needed.
"You ready, Kal?" Ghia cracked his knuckles. "Play distraction; that's all we need to do."
Kalista scoffed. "I hate it, but what choice do I have?"
"Remember what I told you." Zuki began flying upwards. "I believe in you guys."
With his shimmering aura unleashed, Zuki soared upwards, ascending into the sky. Leviathan tried to shoot Zuki with an energy wave, but Ghia stepped in, rushing forward and kicking Leviathan, causing them to stumble back. Ghia then unleashed energy waves, which Leviathan blocked with an energy barrier.
"You're fighting us now!" Ghia declared with Kalista by his side.
"Foolish boy." Leviathan rubbed his stomach. "You two made a foolish decision by reducing the number of combatants. You will gain nothing from it."
"Let's put that to the test!" Ghia charged forward with Kalista beside him. "Distract him and give Z time. I can do that."
Ghia and Kalista started attacking Leviathan with a lightning-fast barrage of punches and kicks. The shark man expertly defended himself against Ghia and Kalista before pushing them back with a mighty shockwave, then let out a resounding shout as he unleashed a barrage of energy balls in all directions, emanating from his own body. Ghia clenched his teeth and deflected the incoming energy balls, while Kalista formed a protective shadow wall around herself.
"Dragon girl!" Leviathan appeared beside Kalista, taking her by surprise, and kicked her away. "Crystal Dance!"
Leviathan created countless sharp crystal shards and released them towards Kalista, but Ghia quickly intervened, positioning himself in front of the dragon girl to shield her from harm before extending his arms outwards, bringing his index and middle fingers together. The half-Saiyan's fingers were surrounded by vibrant blue energy, which he wielded in a slashing motion; as he moved his fingers, crescent-shaped blades of energy were unleashed, slicing through Leviathan's crystals like a hot knife through butter. The crystals were cut into small pieces before ultimately being obliterated with a fast-acting energy wave.
"Appreciate the save," Kalista thanked. "Didn't think the bastard would go after me."
Ghia waved Kalista off. "Don't mention it," he said casually. "This is going to be a long five minutes."
Rubbing the side of her stomach, Kalista still felt the stinging sensation from Leviathan's kick. "I'm not as strong as you guys, but the best I can offer is ranged attacks, while you get up close and personal," she said. "By doing that, we might be able to make some progress. Sound good to you? Please say yes?"
"Eh." Ghia shrugged his shoulders. "Don't see much of a reason not to."
"I'll take that as a yes." Like Zuki, Kalista also flew upwards, but she didn't go too far. "You know what to do, blondie."
Ghia nodded in agreement and immediately launched himself towards Leviathan, engaging in a fierce assault against the formidable shark man. Ghia swiftly kicked Leviathan, pushing him back, and followed up with a relentless assault using a barrage of crescent-shaped energy blades. Leviathan skillfully maneuvered around the energy blades, employing Rapid Movement, before charging at Ghia in an attempt to attack, but his advance was halted by Kalista, who promptly used her shadow tendrils to restrain him, wrapping them around his body. Leviathan gritted his teeth. That damn dragon girl was a nuisance!
"This will not be enough hold me!" Leviathan declared, wriggling in place.
"Nope, but..." Ghia punched Leviathan hard in the stomach, causing them to wheeze in pain. "It'll give me enough time to whoop your ass!"
Ghia struck Leviathan in the face once more, causing him to stagger backward, then unleashed a barrage of energy waves, which was promptly followed by a powerful high kick that sent him soaring high into the air. Ghia immediately pursued Leviathan, not giving them a chance to recover before cupping his hands together and forcefully slammed them onto the ground, delivering a powerful Double Axe Handle. Leviathan let out a groan of pain, but his suffering persisted as Kalista employed her shadows to seize his feet and hurl him into the air. Once airborne, she conjured numerous shadow hands to pursue and assault him.
Leviathan endured a barrage of punches from the shadow hands, but his plight took a turn when Ghia rushed at him and administered a forceful knee strike to his stomach before uppercutting him. Leviathan growled and punched Ghia in the stomach, then kicked him back. The sea-dweller released an energy blast in an attempt to finish Ghia off, but Kalista quickly intervened, conjuring a shadow portal directly in the path of the blast. The energy projectile traversed through the portal, emerging from another opening and striking its creator from behind. Leviathan turned to face Kalista, snarling at the dragon girl, and fired an energy wave in an attempt to kill her, but she generated a portal and escaped through it, only to reappear through another portal, smiling smugly.
"Hey, buddy," taunted Kalista, earning a scowl from Leviathan. "Ooh, that's not a happy face. Is there something wrong?"
"Die!" Leviathan unleashed another energy wave, but Kalista avoided it by entering another portal. "You insolent..."
Kalista came out of another portal and waved to Leviathan, purposefully messing with him. "Over here, big boy!"
In frustration, Leviathan naturally fired an energy wave, but Kalista jumped back into her portal and emerged from another one. Leviathan was grinding his teeth in pure frustration at the foolishness unfolding before him. Determined to capture Kalista, he lunged at the young dragon woman, only to find that she had quickly closed her portal, and then entered through another portal, causing him to punch nothing but empty air. Leviathan knew what Kalista was doing.
"You coward of a child!" roared Leviathan in anger. "Come out now and face me like a warrior!"
"And pass up pissing you off?" Kalista asked incredulously before laughing out loud, almost psychopathically. "Not happening!" Above Leviathan, a portal opened, and Kalista emerged, hanging upside down before blowing a raspberry. "I'm having too much fun here. Ever thought about getting better, my friend?"
Leviathan tried to grab Kalista, but the dragon girl went back into her portal, much to the chagrin of the former, who felt he was being played with.
"ARGH!" Leviathan raged. "Cease running away from me, wench!"
Kalista disregarded Leviathan and moved around the shark man, entering and exiting through her portals. As Kalista deliberately wasted time, Zuki remained far away, focusing heavily on his Special Beam Cannon. With his index and middle fingers pressed against his forehead, he concentrated on charging energy, causing his aura to flare intensely. The attack was still new to the Earthling, but he was slowly getting the hang of it. A few more minutes. All he needed was a few more minutes and it would be ready for action. Could Ghia and Kalista hold out until then? Of course, they could. They were strong, especially as a team.
While dealing with Leviathan, Kalista continued to move around, which only served to further infuriate Leviathan, but it wasn't until Ghia launched a surprise attack from behind that the shark's anger reached its peak. In a fit of rage, Leviathan let out a roar toward the sky, unleashing a tremendous explosive wave.
"Oh shit." Immediately, Kalista jumped back into her portal and closed it.
Unlike Kalista, Ghia didn't possess portal powers, but he was able to create an energy barrier that effectively blocked Leviathan's explosive wave. When the explosive wave faded out of existence, Leviathan could be seen breathing heavily, clearly exhausted from his powerful attack. Taking advantage of Leviathan's temporarily weakened state, Ghia attacked, kicking the shark villain away. At the same time, Kalista joined in, bringing out a show of explosive shadow balls.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
The deafening sounds of explosions reverberated, accompanied by the screams of Leviathan.
Ghia internally smiled. "We're doing good so far..."
"You insolent children!" Leviathan was consumed by thoughts of murder, and he knew precisely how to solve those sinister desires. "DIE!"
Leviathan extended his arm towards Ghia, causing tentacles to emerge and coil around Ghia's neck before forcefully throwing him to the ground, creating a crack into. Leviathan descended and grabbed Ghia by the neck, exerting his strength to choke him, but the Saiyan-hybrid did the unthinkable and spit in his face, then administered a heavy punch to his cheek. The unexpected act left Leviathan momentarily stunned and in considerable pain, but he was more shocked than he was in pain. Leviathan honestly couldn't believe what the child had done to him. How could land-dwellers be so barbaric? And for what?
Leviathan wiped the loogie off his face that Ghia had left there; he stared at it for a moment, and then his expression shifted from shocked to enraged. In a fit of anger, he slammed his fists into the ground, causing pillars of spiked crystals to suddenly arise. Ghia cursed as he narrowly avoided each pillar that arose.
"Damn, you really pissed him off," Kalista said amusingly, cutting down some pillars with her claws. "That loogie shit you did was priceless."
Ghia shrugged and deftly dodged yet another crystal pillar. "You do what you can to survive," he said casually. "'Tis how it works."
"Perish, children!" Leviathan hovered above and stretched his hands out. "Water Spears!"
Leviathan created energy bubbles that gradually transformed into spears, and then sent them toward Ghia and Kalista. The teenagers dodged the water spears, which exploded upon making contact with the ground. Ghia fired energy beams, destroying the spears, while Kalista was occupied in avoiding them.
Leviathan dropped in front of Ghia and tried to behead them with a water-based sword, but Kalista intervened by using her shadow tendrils to entangle his legs, and then pull them to make him fall. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Ghia kicked Leviathan away before firing a ki blast as an additional attack.
Ghia faced Kalista and expressed his gratitude with a thumbs up. Kalista acknowledged the gesture with a nod, then conjured a portal and stepped through it, only to emerge from another portal placed next to Zuki. Zuki's finger crackled with a powerful surge of ki and electricity, while his aura was flaring intensely. Zuki was feeling the strain of the Special Beam Cannon, with sweat trickling down his face, but he knew that all his efforts would be worthwhile in the end.
"What's the update on that Special Beam Cannon of yours, Z?" Kalista pointed to Zuki's hands. "Will that thing do the trick?"
"Let's find out." The Special Beam Cannon was more than ready for action, and all it needed was a target, specifically Leviathan. "You know what to do." If Leviathan could be brought to Zuki, which should be a simple goal to accomplish, the boy could fire the Special Beam Cannon and hit them right in the head.
Kalista crossed her arms, knowing what was required of her. "You want me to bring the party over to you?"
"That's right." Zuki nodded. "Do what you can to bring him here."
Kalista smirked. "You're the leader," she said. "I'll get him here as fast as I can."
After giving Zuki a small salute, Kalista took off and reached Ghia in a matter of seconds. Kalista gave Ghia a thumbs-up, and the half-Saiyan understood the gesture, smiling in response. Good. Zuki's Special Beam Cannon. Leviathan, unaware of the plan ahead, attacked Ghia and Leviathan; he rushed at the children like a manic bull and delivered powerful punches that they couldn't block or dodge in time before unleashing an energy ball. The impact of the aforementioned energy ball pushed them several feet back until it finally detonated, resulting in damage to both of them from a massive explosion.
Ghia and Kalista were sprawled out on the ground, groaning in pain. "Damn, that hurt..." whined Kalsta.
"Ha!" Leviathan gloated sadistically as he aggressively grabbed Ghia and Kalista by their necks, lifting them. "At long last, I have you, insignificant vermin. For an extensive duration, you have persistently served as an irksome thorn in my side, but alas, the time has come for me to ultimately rid myself of your presence." Leviathan tightened his grip on Ghia and Kalista's necks, exerting force upon them. "After I eliminate you, your friend will be next, followed by those land-dwellers you care about so much. I will execute my plan and ensure that humanity faces consequences for their crimes against aquatic life."
Kalista gritted her teeth, glaring at Leviathan. "L-Like hell you will!"
"Oh?" Leviathan raised an eyebrow in mild amusement. "And how do you intend to impede my wo-OOF!"
Kalista kicked Leviathan hard in the groin, which resulted in him involuntarily releasing her and Ghia from his grip. Leviathan clutched his private part and dropped to the ground, gasping and wheezing in nothing but pain. Kalista and Ghia grabbed the perfect opportunity to leave, making their way toward Zuki.
"Alright, we're here." Kalista moved behind Zuki. "He should be coming any second now, especially after I kicked in the nuts!"
Zuki gave Kalista a puzzled look. "You kicked him in the-ah, never mind."
"So that's the Special Beam Cannon you were talking about? Looks good to me," Ghia complimented. "Hopefully it'll work in our favor."
"Likewise," Zuki said internally before sensing Leviathan's power level. "He's coming! Get ready, you guys!"
Just as Zuku said, Leviathan arrived on the scene, clearly frustrated, particularly due to the unpleasant experience of having his nuts kicked. "You!" Leviathan pointed a stern finger at Kalista. "You have some nerve kicking me in my privates!" Kalista playfully shrugged her shoulders. "I will personally make it my mission to-" Leviathan came to a halt, his attention caught by Zuki who was in the midst of charging up a formidable attack. Boy. What are you doing there?"
"Me?" Zuki's face broke into a grin as he looked at Leviathan, his eyes filled with determination. "I'm getting rid of you. SPECIAL BEAM CANNON!"
Withdrawing his fingers from his forehead, Zuki directed them towards Leviathan, unleashing a thin yet deadly beam of energy. Leviathan was taken aback by the sudden energy attack, instinctively attempting to counter it by launching energy balls, but to his astonishment, the energy beam persisted, unaffected by his efforts to halt its progress. Leviathan's immediate concern was to dodge the impending danger, yet he discovered himself to be immobilized, unable to move his body. As he quickly glanced downwards, his eyes fell upon the sight of shadowy hands, firmly grasping and restraining him, emanating from Kalista.
"W-What the...?! Hey!" Leviathan turned to Kalista, scowling at her with hatred in his eyes. "For the last time, this will not hold me! I will break free!"
"Do whatever you please," taunted Kalista before pointing to Zuki's Special Beam Cannon. "Especially on your last day on Earth."
Leviathan redirected his attention to Zuki's Special Beam Cannon and his face paled in reaction. "Oh no..." he muttered to himself in nothing but horror. "So this is the way I meet my demise—at the hands of an Earthling. I suppose there are worse ways to go out, but it is still painful nonetheless. You have won this time, Earthlings, but your safety will only be temporary. Someone will come to attack in my place and do what I could not do, serving punishment upon you..."
Leviathan, accepting his defeat gracefully, closed his eyes and awaited death, as he was prepared for its arrival. Zuki's Special Beam Cannon pierced through his head and burst from the other side. There was no doubt about it—Leviathan was dead. With a flick of her wrist, Kalista scattered her shadowy appendages, causing Leviathan's lifeless body to descend several feet before landing on the ground. Kalista could've been a bit kinder, but she was too tired to be caring.
"So..." Kalista began. "We did it?"
Zuki wiped the sweat away from his forehead. "Given that he was pierced in the head and has yet to rise, it's safe to say that we won. We're good."
"Alright!" Ghia cheered, throwing his hands up into the air. "We did it!" Ghia wrapped his arms around Zuki's neck, pulling him close. "Awesome job, Z!"
Zuki chuckled. "If you hadn't distracted Leviathan when you did, I doubt I would've been able to pull this off. You guys had a hand, too."
"Stop, you're making me blush over here," Kalista joked. "If we have time to gloat, then we have time to eat. I think a small celebration is in order."
"Food? I like the sound of that." After dealing with a psychopathic shark, Ghia was in the mood for food, though it could've been his Saiyan genes, too.
Zuk's stomach rumbled. "On board with that," he agreed before taking off. "The last one to the restaurant is paying!"
"Oh hell no!" Kalista and Ghia said simultaneously before taking off. "I'm not paying!"
