The Sun and The Moon

Chapter One: The Beginning

In the vast Land of Remnant, numerous tales abound, from the Wizard and the Maidens to The Two Brothers. The story I recount now is that of the Sage of Six Paths, a Huntsman unlike any witnessed before. A man who battled his power-inebriated mother, driven by greed to destroy the world we now know. The Sage then fathered two sons, Ashura and Indra.

Indra, the eldest, possessed strength and wisdom, mastering magical abilities at a young age. In contrast, Ashura, the younger brother, was compassionate and perceived himself as weak. Yet, in the darkest times, he relied on others for guidance. When the time came for the Sage to pass on the mantle of teaching Ninshu, a quest was proposed for the two sons.

Despite the general belief favoring Indra, the Sage insisted on giving both brothers an equal opportunity. Ashura, doubting his own abilities, journeyed north. Encountering a seemingly peaceful village, he discovered a deadly virus contaminating the water. Despite offering help, the elders rejected him. Undeterred, Ashura ventured to a desolate valley, tirelessly digging for a new water source. Villagers, witnessing his dedication, joined his cause until the day...

"I found water! Everyone, look, fresh water!" A villager joyfully exclaimed, tears in their eyes. Ashura turned to see the villagers bowing with gratitude.

Three weeks passed, and the once-sick villagers were now thriving, thanking Ashura for guiding them to self-reliance. Upon returning home, Ashura found his father and Indra waiting. The Sage, after assessing their quests, declared Ashura as the successor to Ninshu, much to Indra's displeasure.

"I have made a decision," the Sage announced. Indra protested, but the Sage explained that Ashura's compassion would inspire followers. Ashura, feeling unprepared, suggested Indra take the role. However, the Sage insisted on Ashura.

Indra, furious, declared he would never help Ashura and disappeared. With the Sage gone, Ashura assumed the role of Protector of Ninshu. One night, Indra returned...

"Alright, that's enough for tonight, you two!" A woman with black-red hair and silver eyes, wearing black pajamas, interrupted. Holding a bedtime storybook titled "The Sun and Moon."

"Oh, come on, Mom! Why did you end it there? It was just getting to the good part!" a young boy protested, pouting.

"Yeah, Mom, what good is a bedtime story when it's not even finished?" a young girl questioned.

The woman, identified as Yang and Naruto's mother, teased, "The story's finished best on a cliffhanger. It'll make you want to know how it ends, right?"

The woman looked at her children with a smile on her face. Both Naruto and Yang were twins with yellow sun kissed hair though Naruto's was more shaggy looking while Yang had straight long hair. The only difference between the two was their eye color Naruto had a Deep-Dark Blue eyes while Yang had lilac eyes.

"Anyways it's time for bed you both have school in the morning so half to go to sleep and I have a mission to prepare for so…."

"How long will you be gone Mom?" Naruto asked with a sad gaze in his eye. He always hated when his mom left to do her job as a huntress.

"It'll only be for a few days and when I get back we can all go for Ice cream ok?" the woman asked.

"Ok" both Twins exclaimed with smiles on their faces.

"Alright then go to sleep" The Women said with kindness hugging both of them. "I love you both so very much!"

"We love you too!" Naruto said hugging his mother back tightly.

"Yeah what he said love ya" Yang also said hugging her mom back

The woman the quietly walked out of the room and toward another door. Peering inside the room saw a six year old girl with red-black hair and bear spotted pajamas sleeping so softly.

"Summer?" a voice called to the now named Summer.

Turning to the voice Summer turned to see a Man with blond hair and lilac eyes wearing basic sleep pants staring at her with confusion.

"What took so long putting Naruto and Yang to bed?" The man asked tilted his head slightly.

"It's nothing Tai, the twins just wanted to read a bedtime story that's all." Summer said to her husband as they walked to their room.

"Oh what story this time?" Tai asked curiously.

"The Sun and Moon, though I did skip the ending so they would finally go to bed." Summer sighed tiredly.

"Naruto gonna be pestering both of us till we finish the story of Ashura and Indra right Sum…." Tai stop mid sentence taking notice that Summer was noticeably far behind him with a solemn look on her beautiful face.

"What's wrong Summer was it something I said?" Tai asked worried of what is wrong with his wife.

"Remember what Ozpin told us?" Summer asked. "About how Naruto is the latest reincarnation of Ashura, that he would chose the path of the Huntsman."

"Where are you going with this Summer?" Tai asked carefully knowing how protective Summer is over his son. "He has his whole life ahead of him, I mean he is only seven years old."

"That is not the point Tai!" Summer yelled quietly. "I don't want Naruto to be a hero, I don't want Ruby and Yang to be heroes what I want is for them to have a normal life!"

"Ok, ok look lets go to bed you have a mission to prepare for tomorrow with Qrow and You need to fully rested we can talk about this when you get back ok?" Tai said raising his hand as if he was surrendering.

"Fine, this conversation is not finished Tai Xiao-Long!" Summer said marching to bed with a confident smile on her face, this conversation is not over.

The next morning, Summer embarked on her mission with Qrow, leaving Tai to tend to the house and their children. As she prepared for the day ahead, her mind lingered on the conversation from the previous night. Gathering the rest of her gear she waved good by to her Family as they all smiled brightly as she exited the door.

"Jeeze took you long enough." A Voice called out catching her off turning to see a man leaning on a nearby tree, he has graying black, spiky hair, faded red eyes, and slight stubble along his jawline. Along with a red, tattered cloak, he wears a gray dress shirt with a long tail, black dress pants and black dress shoes.

"Qrow, don't scare me like that ya know!" Summer said yelling at him in a exaggerated manner.

Qrow chuckled, taking a swig from his flask. "Sorry, Summer. Couldn't resist. Ready for our mission?"

"Yeah, yeah," Summer replied, a hint of a smile breaking through her serious demeanor. "Let's just get this done and over with."

As they ventured into the mission, the conversation with Tai lingered in the back of Summer's mind. The landscape blurred as her thoughts drifted between the tasks at hand and the weight of her concerns for her family.

Qrow noticed her distraction. "You seem a bit off today. Everything alright?"

Summer sighed, adjusting the strap on her weapon. "Just thinking about what Tai said last night. About Naruto, about the path of the Huntsman. It's a lot to take in."

Qrow nodded in understanding. "We all have our worries and fears. It comes with the job, but we also have a duty. Remember that."

Summer nodded her head before suddenly dodging a arrow of pure light that came out of nowhere. Qrow swiftly drew his weapon, ready for a fight.

A figure emerged from the shadows, clad in a dark cloak with a hood obscuring their face. "Well, well, what do we have here? Like I caught myself pair of Ozpin's hounds lurking about."

Summer tightened her grip on her weapon, her eyes narrowing. "Who are you, and what do you want?"

The cloaked figure chuckled as he raised two arrowguns. "I'm just here to make things interesting, to spice up your little mission. Let's see how well you fare against the unexpected."

Without waiting for a response, the cloaked figure unleashed a barrage of arrows, each one glowing with a dangerous energy. Summer and Qrow danced through the onslaught, their movements synchronized as they worked together seamlessly.

Qrow smirked, his scythe slicing through the air. "You picked the wrong Huntsmen to mess with, pal."

The cloaked figure seemed unperturbed, continuing to attack with precision. As the battle unfolded, Summer's mind raced with conflicting thoughts.

Amidst the chaos, Qrow shot Summer a quick glance. "Focus, Summer! We can worry about the rest later."

Summoning her resolve, Summer redirected her attention to the fight at hand. The cloaked figure, however, seemed to have an endless arsenal of surprises. Shadows enveloped him, and he vanished, leaving Summer and Qrow on high alert.

"He's playing with us," Qrow muttered, eyes scanning the surroundings.

"He's right you know, Red." The man called out as Qrow and Summer stood back to back on one another. "You should focus on the fight not worrying about, that Naruto kid you two were spouting on about."

Summer's eyes narrowed at the mention of Naruto. "How do you know about him?"

The cloaked figure chuckled again, the sound echoing through the quiet forest. "I know many things, Summer Rose. I know about your worries, your fears, and the little dreams you harbor for your family. But in the end, none of it matters. The world is a dangerous place, and you can't protect them from everything."

Qrow's grip on his weapon tightened. "Enough with the cryptic nonsense. Who are you, and what's your game?"

"Oh you want me to reveal why I am here Birdbrain, as if." The man said. "I will say Red here is a threat that needs taking out."

"A Threat that needs to Excised for our plans to come in fruition." A deep voiced called causing both Qrow and Summer eyes to widen as they turn to dodge a second figure wearing the same cloak with a read laser beam coming out of his hand.

Summer and Qrow swiftly dodged the incoming laser beam, the second figure's sudden appearance adding a new layer of complexity to the situation. The forest seemed to close in around them, shadows dancing ominously.

Qrow scowled. "Alright, enough with the games. Who are you people, and what plans are you talking about?"

"A silver eyed Warrior." The new arrival said his deep voice sending shivers down both Summer's and Qrow's spine.

The atmosphere grew more tense as the deep-voiced figure continued to speak, his words echoing through the quiet forest. "Silver eyes, a rare and powerful trait. A threat to our plans, indeed."

Summer and Qrow exchanged glances, a sense of foreboding settling over them. The cloaked figures seemed to be well-informed about their abilities and the significance of Summer's silver eyes.

"Yeah that's right Red, we know about your little trick." The first figure said smugly as dashed forward kicking Qrow away as the second raised some kind portal causing the man to tumble through. "Now with no further interruptions."

Summer's eyes narrowed, and a surge of anger fueled her movements. She focused on the both cloaked figures, before suddenly a brief vision appeared before her standing in front of her stood an a young woman with blue hair wielding some kind of Blade shaped like a key. As quickly as the vision appeared it stopped as Summer dodge as the First figure began firing a barrage of light arrows.

Summer's movements became a graceful dance, evading the barrage of light arrows with a combination of agility and instinct. The vision of the young woman with the key-shaped blade lingered in the back of her mind, adding an extra layer of confusion to the unfolding chaos. When suddenly the second figure appeared in front of slashing her midsection causing Summer to slam into the ground as she gasped in pain.

"And Thus the dance ends, the curtain falls." The second figure said as he raised his gloved hand, thousands of Light beams appeared around Summer who could only glare at the two men.

Summer gritted her teeth against the pain, struggling to rise from the forest floor.

"Oh wow look at that glare I haven't seen one of those in glare. Not that it matters." The figure with arrow guns said as the second man sent all the light beams at Summer, each hitting and piercing her leaving no inch of her body touch but at the same time leaving no marks.

"Naruto? Where did you run off to bud?" Tai asked looking around for his oldest as he prepared his children's lunches. "I swear I have no idea where that kid gets his energy from."

Meanwhile the 6 year old blond was sitting in the forest near home holding the book his mother was reading to him as he looked deep in thought. 'I wonder why Mom wanted to leave this on a cliff hanger..'

Suddenly he looked up to see the same blue haired woman Summer saw looking at him with both relief and sadness.

"W-who are you?" Naruto asked slighty afraid at what was going on.

The woman said nothing as she pointed toward the Path he saw his Mom and Uncle Qrow take when they left this morning.

The blue-haired woman's expression softened as she continued to point towards the path taken by Summer and Qrow. Naruto, still holding the book, felt a mix of curiosity and apprehension. He had never encountered someone like her before, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding his mother's departure left him uneasy.

Without uttering a word, the woman gestured for Naruto to follow her. Intrigued, the young boy closed the book and tucked it under his arm before cautiously stepping forward. The woman led him through the forest, the surroundings growing more unfamiliar with each passing moment. As storm clouds rolled in and rain began trickling down, Naruto became more and more uneasy. Then Naruto smelled the smell of smoke as he came to a clearing knowing a battle had occurred here.

The scent of smoke hung in the air, and Naruto's senses went on high alert. The clearing before him bore signs of a recent battle—scorched earth, broken branches, and an eerie silence that echoed with the remnants of conflict.

The blue-haired woman placed a comforting hand on Naruto's shoulder, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. Naruto clenched the book tightly, eyes darting around the clearing, searching for any sign of his mother or Uncle Qrow.

"Mom! Uncle Qrow!" Naruto called out, his voice echoing through the stillness. There was no response, only the sound of raindrops tapping against leaves. He then looked to the Blue haired Woman, but was shocked when she suddenly vanished with out a trace. "Hey where did you go? Don't Leave me here alone!"

Naruto started to tear up when something catches his eye a strange blade in the shape of a key laid by a tree. The blade had a smooth, cylindrical, grey shaft that tapers outward at both ends. It had a boxy guard, made up of two small, light grey boxes and copper rod. The base of the guard connects to the grip, and both sport several small indentations lining them. With the tip of the Blade also making a E, Naruto placed his hand on the blade in curiosity when the suddenly the Blade suddenly Vanished in a beam of light.

"N-Naruto..." A voice called out as he turns and becomes shocked as he see the prone form of Summer as he dropped the book in his other hand.

Naruto's eyes widened with shock and concern as he saw his mother, Summer, lying in the clearing. The rain continued to fall, adding to the somber atmosphere of the battlefield. He rushed to her side, dropping to his knees.

"Mom! What happened? Are you okay?" Naruto's voice quivered with a mix of fear and worry.

Summer gave him a small and loving smiling. "You... s-shouldn't be here sweetie."

Suddenly a growl comes from behind Naruto, turning his head slowly he saw six fox like creatures approach him. The creatures had black jet fur with a couple red marks on the forearm, down the sides of their body, tails ranging from one tail to nine to the alpha of the group. They also had a bone mask on their face with red lines going from the the jawline to their ears with bone like armor covering their spine as they growl at Naruto with deep red eyes.

"G-Grimm.." Naruto called out in fear as he desperately looked around for help. "UNCLE QROW PLEASE COME QUICK."

"Naruto..." Summer said softly as she began to try and stand up holding her weapon tightly as she does. "You need to run."

"No I don't wanna leave you, your hurt." Naruto said as Summer winced, a pained expression crossing her face. The Grimm creatures advanced, their growls growing louder. Summer placed a reassuring hand on Naruto's cheek.

"You have to, sweetheart. I'll be fine. But you need to get to safety," she insisted, her voice strained.

Naruto hesitated for a moment, torn between his concern for his mother and the fear of the approaching Grimm. However, he knew deep down that his mother was right. Reluctantly, he nodded, wiping away the tears on his cheeks.

"Okay, Mom. But I'll come back for you, I promise!" Naruto declared with determination as he got up and began to sprint away from the battlefield.

As he ran through the dense forest, Naruto could hear the growls of the Grimm echoing behind him. He darted between trees, his heart pounding with a mix of fear and determination. The rain continued to fall, making the ground slippery under his feet. When suddenly a bear-like grimm came out of nowhere swiping at the six year old boy.

Naruto barely had time to react as the bear-like Grimm lunged at him, its massive claws slashing through the air. Acting on pure instinct, Naruto managed to evade the attack by leaping to the side. The Grimm roared in frustration, its red eyes fixated on the young boy.

With a burst of speed, Naruto continued to sprint through the forest, glancing back to see the Grimm in pursuit. The rain intensified, making the ground even more treacherous. When Naruto ran into a cliffside, trying climb up but fell down quickly as the Ursa closed in. Fear gripped Naruto's heart as he desperately looked for a way to escape. Just as the Grimm was about to strike, it to roar in pain and frustration as a beautiful woman with long spiky black hair that reached down to her waist. The woman wore a shallow cut black and red dress, five necklaces with an assortment of beads, a red girdle-belt, and a pair of matching gauntlets with fingerless gloves. There was also a object that looks to be made from feathers hangs from the right side of her skirt with black leggings. On her hip was a large hilt. Her face was covered with mask that looked like a grim.

"Get away from my Son..." The Woman said as she dashed forward with one swipe of her Katana beheading the Large Grimm. The Grimm's head rolled away, and the body slumped to the ground, lifeless. Naruto, still on the ground, stared in awe at the mysterious woman who had just saved him. The rain continued to fall, but her presence seemed to command a certain authority over the battlefield.

The woman turned to Naruto, her masked face softening as she approached. She sheathed her katana and knelt down next to him, her black and red dress flowing gracefully in the rain.

"Are you okay, Naruto?" she asked, her voice gentle but firm.

Naruto nodded, still processing the events that had just unfolded. "Y-yeah, thanks to you. Who are you?"

Before she could answer Qrow appeared between them causing the woman to jump back and draw her weapon again.

"Raven," Qrow said with venom-laced toned, addressing the woman. "What do you think you are doing here?"

"Protecting my son." The named Raven said pointing her Katana at Qrow.

"Naruto stop being your son, when you abandoned Yang and him!" Qrow said narrowing his eyes. Naruto, caught in the middle of this intense confrontation, looked between Qrow and Raven, his confusion growing. The tension in the air was palpable as the two adults exchanged heated words.

Raven's grip on her katana tightened, her eyes narrowing at Qrow. "I didn't abandon them. I left to protect them from the mess Ozpin created."

Qrow scoffed, his scythe still at the ready. "Protect them? You disappeared, Raven. Yang needed you, and so did Naruto. They deserved better than whatever twisted version of 'protection' you think you're offering."

"Uncle Qrow, please stop Mom is back there very hurt and there were Vulpine." Naruto cried out as both looked at the young boy with shock.

"Summer?" Qrow said as he dashed off where Summer was leaving Naruto behind as Raven looked on in compilation, then swiped her blade creating a red portal.

"Where are you going? You have to help." Naruto cried out as Raven was about to step in. Raven let out a heavy sigh as she turned back to Naruto.

"You need to go home Naruto." Raven said as she took off her mask revealing she looked like a older verison of Yang but with red eye's.

"I... I don't want to leave Mom alone," Naruto said, his voice quivering with a mix of fear as Raven pulled him into a tight hug already knowing that Summer was gone, and knowing that she cannot let Naruto meet the same fate.

Suddenly Raven chopped the back of Naruto's neck knocking him out, as he slumped into her arms she then carefully picked him up and carried him into the portal.

Tai looked everywhere for Naruto and became increasingly worried, as he could not reach Qrow or Summer. The rain continued to pour as Raven emerged from the red portal, carrying the unconscious Naruto in her arms. She glanced around the familiar surroundings of Patch, her gaze falling on the worried figure of Taiyang, who was frantically searching for his son.

"Tai," Raven called out, her voice carrying a mix of exhaustion and sadness.

Taiyang's head snapped up, relief washing over his face at the sight of Raven. "Raven, why are you here? What happened? Where's Summer?"

Raven hesitated for a moment before answering, her gaze avoiding Taiyang's eyes. "Summer... she's gone. There were Grimm, and Naruto insisted on staying to help her. Qrow went back to check on them."

Taiyang's eyes widened in shock, a mixture of grief and worry clouding his expression. "Gone? Summer can't be..."

Raven gently placed Naruto on the ground, still unconscious, and took a step closer to Taiyang. "I'm sorry, Tai. We did what we could, but it was too late."

Taiyang's shoulders slumped, and he fell to his knees, grief overwhelming him. Raven crouched down beside him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"He's safe, though," Raven added, nodding towards Naruto. "I brought him back, but he needs time to process everything."

Taiyang nodded, tears streaming down his face. "Thank you, Raven. Thank you for bringing him back."

Raven nodded solemnly, her red eyes filled with a mixture of regret and sorrow. "Of course."

Raven then opened another portal but took one more glance at Naruto before stepping through.

'An unbreakable connection.'

'Ven, you hopeless sleepyhead.'

'Fine. Then I'll give you a reason to fight. Come and find me...at the one and only place to spawn the χ-blade—the Keyblade Graveyard. There you're gonna see me choke the life out of Terra and Aqua. Then we'll see how long you play the pacifist'

'Terra, Aqua...I swear I'll put an end to this.'

'The three of us will always be one.'

Naruto then awoke in a panic looking around his room much older now, as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Another dream about that night..."

Naruto's heart pounded in his chest as the memories of that fateful night flooded back. The pain of losing his mother, the encounter with the mysterious woman named Raven, and the confrontation between Raven and Uncle Qrow replayed in his mind. He took a deep breath, trying to shake off the lingering emotions.

As he sat up in bed, Naruto noticed the familiar surroundings of his room. The sunlight streamed in through the window, casting a warm glow. The events felt both distant and painfully recent, a mix of reality and dreamscape.

He glanced at the clock and realized it was morning. The nightmares and dreams seemed to haunt him, a constant reminder of the events that had shaped his life. Determination burned in his eyes as he got up from the bed.

"I need to be stronger. I'm not gonna fail again." Naruto whispered to himself, his fists clenched. He knew there were answers out there, and he couldn't let the shadows of the past hold him back.

Naruto got dressed and headed downstairs wearing a orange and black leather jacket with armor plating on his shoulders, gauntlets with fingerless gloves covering his forearms, black jeans with combat boots with a symbol of a whirlpool, and on his back two batons with triggers on the handles. As he entered the kitchen, he found Taiyang, who looked up from his coffee with a mixture of concern and relief.

"Hey, kiddo. You okay?" Taiyang asked, his voice gentle.

Naruto nodded, though his expression remained serious. "Yeah, just... those dreams again. I need to see Mom, before I go to Beacon."

Taiyang sighed, looking to say something before looking up and seeing that Naruto already ran off. 'What am I gonna do with him.'

Naruto stood at the edge of a cliff looking down on a grave stone that had Summer's sigil with the words "Summer Rose / Thus Kindly I Scatter". Naruto felt a mix of emotions as he stood by his mother's grave. The wind gently rustled the leaves, and the air carried a sense of both peace and sorrow. He kneeled down, placing a bouquet of wildflowers in front of the gravestone.

"Hey, Mom. I... I had those dreams again. The ones that won't let go," Naruto began, his voice a mixture of determination and vulnerability. "I don't know what they mean, but I can't let them control me. I need to be strong, not just for myself but for everyone counting on me."

He traced the engraved sigil on the gravestone with his fingers, lost in thought. Memories of his mother flashed through his mind—the warmth of her embrace, the sound of her laughter. Naruto couldn't shake the feeling that she was still watching over him, guiding him in some way.

"I'm going to Beacon now, Mom. I want to be a Huntsman, like Dad, and also you. I want to protect people and make a difference," Naruto declared, his gaze steady.

As he stood up, Naruto looked out over the landscape, the vastness of Remnant stretching before him. The determination in his eyes intensified.

"I won't let anyone else suffer like we did. I'll find the answers, and I'll become strong enough to protect everyone. No matter what it takes," Naruto vowed, his resolve echoing in the quiet surroundings.

With a final glance at the gravestone, he turned and began walking back as a gust of wind picks up rose petals and blows them out to sea.

Hey Everyone Rathian, so I kinda have come to a decision to split up each of these by volumes similar to the Actual show. Mostly because I feel it would make it Easier to do. At least in my Opinion, so chapters 1-10 will be considered Volume 1 while chapters 11- idk 23 will be considered Volume 2 the Volume Chapters will keep the Chapter 11 stuff just will be considered a separate thing. The Rewrite of Chapter 2 is in progress not to much cause I am still working on chapter 17. So yeah I will be keeping the original Up but just won't be adding anything to it. So With that being said let's go see ya in the next one.
