PROLOGUE : A scarred soul
It was a gray, somber, day. On a clifftop, two people were fighting against one another, as if they wanted to kill each other. One of them was a big man, the other being only a mere child, five years old at best. Though these two initially seem to be ordinary people, their hairstyles seemed quite peculiar. The kid had a slicked back hair, forming into a spike, while the big man's seemed to form demon-horns, quite fitting for a ruthless man picking on a child. The poor boy stood no chance against him, taking every hit the man dished at him. As the bigger fighter was beating him up, he proceeds to throw two powerful direct punches, right to the boy's figure, injuring him rather critically. Then from a blink of an eye, a threatening kick was delivered from the middle aged man, right to the back of the kid's head, who was knocked down due to the sheer strength that came from it. He still tried to stand up, albeit in vain, as he was now on his knees, with one fist planted into the ground. The menacing individual, who was looking at him with a frightening look on his eyes, approached him slowly, and uttered:
"Kazuya, let's see if you are mighty enough, to take the Mishima Zaibatsu."
As the big man said these words, he grabbed the little boy, Kazuya, by the neck. The five year old was suffocating slowly, but surely, from the crushing impact of the man's hand. Some tears crawled from his eyes, as he was helplessly pleading the bigger individual to stop.
"Father, please... Stop, stop it! It hurts... !" the boy let out a few words.
However, the big, menacing man, who was revealed to be the boy's father, would do nothing, but smile amusingly. Without warning, he proceeds to throw his helpless son off of the cliff, which the latter would scream in terror, as he fell to his death. The father of his now seemingly deceased son, would stand there, and observe down the precipice, as if he was waiting for him to somehow climb back up.
Kazuya was on the ground, motionless. That fall could kill anyone regardless of their physical strength. It was only sensical to assume that Kazuya was dead at this point, especially considering he wasn't even an adult. However... a voice, spoke through Kazuya's mind. That voice was deep, low, and demonic, which could scare any human being. As the boy stood still within his mind, shivers crawled on his spine upon hearing the voice.
"You desire power, don't you?" the voice said.
"What? Who... who are you... ?" Kazuya was confused, he had no idea what was happening at the moment.
Then, the figure slowly manifested itself into a spiritual form, which was revealed to be where the deep voice was from. It looked like it had a demonic appearance, having purple skin, spiky wings, hands and feet, and red eyes.
"I am a spirit, who grants power to those who so desire it. I search people like you, who have nothing to lose, and all they wish for is power, and revenge. You want to take revenge on your father, Heihachi Mishima, do you not, Kazuya?"
"Revenge... ?" the boy was bewildered, while he did want to pay back Heihachi for tossing him off of that cliff, at the same time, he didn't know how he could, as he was 'dead'. "But I thought I died from that-"
"Indeed, you did die from the fall." the figure answered. "Right now, you are in your mind, between life and death. A poor innocent creature, tortured by a man with an insatiable taste for power. For five years, you had to suffer your father's torment, which greatly affected you. Not only was he harsh to you, but he also killed your mother, and your grandfather."
Upon hearing the demon mention his grandfather, Kazuya would be shocked, and have his eyes wide open. He already knew that his mother died by the hands of Heihachi, but he had no idea that his grandfather would also be a victim. "Grand... Grandpa... ?!" the boy would then start crying silently, falling on his knees.
"Correct." the demon continued. "Heihachi was not satisfied with all of you, believing that you were all weak. This is Heihachi's craziness. But that is not all." the demon pointed at Kazuya's chest. "That fall that he caused, has made a big scar on your chest, symbolizing the ultimate betrayal of your father."
Kazuya started to remember Heihachi murdering his mother, and the moment of him throwing Kazuya off of the cliff, and causing the scar due to collision. These two moments, and hearing the death of his grandfather, would be enough to seal Kazuya's hatred on Heihachi Mishima. On his knees, and greatly upset at Heihachi's actions, Kazuya made a furious look, and clenched his fist. "Heihachi... you bastard!"
"I understand your rightful anger towards him. Anyone would be upset at this vile demeanour." a smirk, formed on the demon's mouth. "However, I can help you exact your revenge."
"Well, that's what I wanted to ask... How ?"
"It is quite simple. You have two choices: the first, is that you refuse my help. If you do so, you will die for good, and leave this world behind, never coming back again. The second is..." the demon made a bright smirk, which seemed to have its fair share of malice behind it. "I revive you, allowing you to climb back that precipice, and I will grant you immense power, but at the same time, you give me your own soul."
That prompted Kazuya to think carefully, of what he was going to choose. He didn't want to die here, wanting to give Heihachi a lesson for his torments on his son. But at the same time, was it really worth it? Kazuya would have no soul, which means he would give up his own humanity for power. After giving it some thought, he made his decision, and proceeded to speak up to the demonic presence.
"I give up my soul, to you." Kazuya said.
"Really?"
"Yes, I made my decision. I am giving my soul to you, and in exchange, you grant me power to destroy my father Heihachi."
"Even if it means that you will give up your humanity?"
"That's right, my mind is clear."
The demon figure was slightly surprised by Kazuya's response. He wasn't expecting that much consent from a human, let alone a little child, but at the same time, he didn't pick that boy for nothing. Kazuya's bloodline had invaluable strength coming out of it, and the demon knew it too well. Kazuya was not just an ordinary person, not one bit.
"Very well then." says the demon. "Before we complete the process, answer one last question."
Kazuya waited for his said question.
The demon proceeded to speak again, "What is power, to you?"
The child started to think and remembered an old phrase from Heihachi himself, which was engraved in his head. "Power... is everything."
The demon started to laugh, lasting a couple of seconds, which sounded quite sinister, however, the kid was not fazed. Satisfied with Kazuya's response, he would go on to finish the process that the two agreed to make, "Well then, since you look like you're ready to go through with this, let us fulfill this agreement."
Kazuya nodded, standing still. The demon figure, then held Kazuya by the arms, and dark purple energy started to surround the two. Bit by bit, the two started to merge together, or more specifically, the demon started to merge into Kazuya. The process was pretty painful, as this merging required both the figure to be within him, and the boy's own soul to be sold, however, the process was complete. After finishing the merging between the two, Kazuya would wake up, still on the ground down the precipice. He would have a fearless look in his eyes, and also a look of hatred, he would proceed to grip into a wall, and climb back the entire cliff, with little to no difficulties.
Meanwhile, Heihachi was still on the clifftop, waiting for his presumably dead son to come back, by any chance. However, the man grew impatient upon his son's absence, and started to think he actually succumbed to the fall.
"Hmph! Worthless rat. I should have known he wouldn't be capable of doing this."
At the same time, the rain started. Heihachi looked up the rain, with a disappointed expression. He thought it was foolish to expect his son to even survive that, however, prior to that encounter, he always deemed Kazuya as weak and fragile, which would irritate him frequently. Now, he was certain that his son was a failure, he didn't even look like he cared about him. All he wanted is to exploit his strength.
"This was an utter disappointment. I am only wasting my time here." Heihachi would turn his back, and prepare to walk away.
However, as he started to leave, some crumbling noise could be heard. "Hmm?" He turned back, only to see an emotionless Kazuya, climbing the cliff, bodied and battered, with the huge scar on his chest. As he climbed more and more, Heihachi would become bewildered at how his child survived that death fall. He was fully convinced that he was dead, unless if there was more to it... Kazuya proceeded to fully climb back up, and get up with some difficulties. He then walked slowly towards Heihachi, and stopped near in front of him, showing no emotions on his face. At the same time, a thunder striked the ground.
He... He actually survived the fall? How can this be? He was down there for minutes !
The man looked at Kazuya while grincing his teeth, after observing him for a couple of seconds, he made a grin at Kazuya, showing some kind of acknowledgment, as doing such a feat as that was quite impressive considering the boy's age. The middle aged would then laugh for some seconds, before deciding to speak.
"So you survived, eh ? That's impressive, but it is only the first step of you being a worthy successor, I want you to be fearless, merciless, and relentless! As for your training from now on will be a rough one ! No more slacking, did you hear that correctly?" He looked at Kazuya, fiercely in the eyes.
The boy said nothing, leaving Heihachi to assume he was complying. "No objections ? Very well, now let's get back and think of your other trainings." says Heihachi with a smirk.
As Kazuya looked at his father, a feeling of anger and hatred emanated from his body. It was clear what his intentions was. Once he would grow strong enough, he would stop at nothing to eviscerate his father, once and for all. Revenge is all that mattered to him from now on. Before the two left the clifftop, while another thunder striked the ground, Kazuya had a destructive thought engraved in his mind.
Father... One day, I will tear you to pieces.
Okay! I finally finished the prologue of this story. I tried my best on it, and I hope that I did not disappoint. Stay tuned for future chapters, because this is just the beginning!
