1 Week After The Liberation of Lothal

The entire planet had celebrated the victory, everyone but the Spectors. Kat and Chopper had buried themself's in finding Ezra, while Zeb had taken his anger out on the imperials that were left on the planet. Sabine had shut everyone out physically and mentally. Hera and Kanan struggled with keeping their family from falling apart while coping with the loss of their son. One night Sabine walked out of her room to get something to eat when she heard Hera and Kanan arguing in the cockpit.

"How are we supposed to keep the family together, Hera?" Kanan asked her, "We are literally falling apart without him, it's like making a sandwich without the bread!"

Sabine walked back to her room tears in her eyes as a memory came back to her.

Ever since Concord Dawn Sabine had felt something different toward a certain young Jedi, he's not some little kid anymore, Sabine reminded herself while she walked to Kanan and Hera's cabin. "Hera, can I come in?" Sabine asked the Twi'lek as she knocked on the door.

The pilot opened the door before asking her what was wrong and letting her in.

When Sabine didn't answer, Hera began to throw a dart in the dark, by asking Sabine "is it about Ezra?" When Sabine turned a bright pink and covered her face, Hera knew she hit a Bullseye.

"Yes," Sabine whispered behind her hands. Hera smiled at the girl's shyness and sat down on the bed with her, "I thought so, because you've been looking at him differently for nearly two weeks." Hera paused to see her response, when Sabine said nothing, she continued "so what's going on honey?" She asked the young mandalorian.

Sabine pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them, "I don't know but there's something different about him."

Hera raised an eyebrow at her, "what do you mean, i haven't noticed anything." "I-i, *sigh* you know what, nevermind, forget i said anything."

Hera grabbed Sabine's shoulder keeping her from leaving, "no," she forced the mandalorian to sit back down on the bed, "tell me how he makes you feel."

"What does that have to do with anything," Sabine asked, trying to avoid Heras question. "Just answer." Said the Twi'lek starting to get impatient.

"Well when i'm around him i-i get n-nervous," Sabine said as she pulled her knees back to her chest.

Knowing exactly where this was going, Hera asked her, "and how do you feel when he's gone?"

Sabine drew in a shaky breath before saying, "it feels like a part of me is gone, and I'm scared because h-he might not come back."

Hera stroked Sabine's head before saying, "I never thought the day would come where our fearless demolitions expert had a crush."

As her face got hotter and hotter she buried her face into her hands more and more before whispering, "what am i supposed to do?"

"You tell him."

Sabine immediately looked at Hera, "I can't do that!" "Why not?" Hera questioned. "I shot him down so many times, he will never feel the same for me."

Hera let out a sigh, before saying, "you never know."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

Hera got up and walked to the door but stopped at the door before saying, "you're gonna have to find out for yourself, honey" and walked out of the room.

Sabine laid down on her bed about to cry again when someone knocked on her door. Sabine quickly wiped her tears before asking who was there, and was met by Chopper's frantic beeps "can i come in i have something for you."

Sabine let out a sigh, "fine just make it quick."

Chopper rolled in the room and set his claw on her knee, "I'm sorry sis, don't tell anyone but I miss him too."

Sabine knelt down and hugged the astromech pouring her heart out through her tears onto his dome, "t-thank you Chop."

When she broke away, she leaned against her bunk and apologized.

"You don't have to say sorry 'Bine, i should be saying sorry for not showing this to you sooner."

Sabine pulled her legs to her chest and wiped her tears with the palm of her right hand before asking, "what are you…"

Sabine gasped when she heard Ezra's voice "Sab'ika" and saw a recording emanating from Chopper.

"Ez'ika?"

"if your seeing this then its safe to assume that I fucked up." Sabine clenched her jaw before responding, "you got that right, dumbass."

"No matter what you think of me for what happened, you need to know why ."

Ezra took a breath before saying, "when i was in the jedi temple and saved Kanan, i did the same for Ahsoka," Chopper began to beep in the recording, "yes Chop i saved Ahsoka but that's not what's important." "Anyway, I saw the future, way better than one of my visions. It was crystal clear and I knew what I had to do, from there I built my plan." "I'm sorry, I truly am for what I'm about to do tomorrow." Sabine felt all of her anger slip away as she listened to his words. "I bet you've already seen the group recording by the time you see this, so i meant what i said, I kar'taylir darasuum Sab'ika, I love you Sabine, i always have and will for the rest of my life." Ezra knelt down in front of Chopper and told the old Astromech, "only give this to her if i don't come back," before the recording shut off.

Sabine sat there thinking about what Ezra had said, I kar'taylir darasuum Sab'ika, those words repeated in her head until Chopper beeped. "You okay?" He asked the mandalorian.

"Yea," the artist sighed, "it's just I've been trying to be mad at him for the past week for leaving, but after that, I don't think I can."

Chopper looked at her before saying, "I think that was his point."

Later that night Sabine sat on top of the Ghost staring into Lothals night sky. "I hope you're okay Ez," Sabine said with a tear in her eye as she looked at Lothal's two pale moon's. Meanwhile somewhere in the unknown regions, on the very edge of the outer rim, a blue haired human sat the exact same way looking at the sky, "I hope you're safe 'bine."

Authors notes

okay so this book will be focused on the time frame from when Ezra takes off and dipps from Lothal to the point that Sabine FINALLY decides to go get her BOYFRIEND back.

Sorry its just a little frustrating that canon made her wait five years.
