A/N: Hello! My friend told me about this hilarious story about her little cousin, so I wanted to make it a fic!

There is no Anschullus and this is rewritten.

For those wondering what changed, the writing in general changed (of course), and the timing changed (it used to be a month apart and now it's a day apart, you'll know what I mean when you read it.)

Maria sighed loudly as she walked into the bedroom that she and Georg shared.

"Let me guess, Brigitta wanted to read one more chapter?" Her beloved husband came out of the bathroom, hair disheveled and soaking wet. Maria stopped in her tracks, noticing that Georg wasn't wearing a shirt.

He followed her gaze and realized what she had been staring at.

"See something you like, fraulein?" he teased as she immediately avoided his gaze.

"I, uh, Gretl finally gave me that note," she mumbled.

"What note?"

"Oh, I suppose I forgot to tell you." Maria started, "Yesterday, I asked her to practice her english by writing a note that would tell us what she wants for her birthday."

She grabbed her nightgown and handed the note to Georg before walking into the bathroom.

Dear Mutti and Vati,

For my birtday, I would lik a litle sibling. I would realy apriciate it, tank u.

Sincerly,

Gretl

Upon reading the note, Georg chuckled.

"What's so funny?" Maria came out of the bathroom, "I found it rather sweet."

"Sweet?" the corners of Georg's lips curled up into a mischievous smirk, "Fraulein, you do realize we have to...' mate' in order to conceive of this child she's asking for, right?"

Maria blushed profusely.

"I'd like to give her that!" he wiggled his eyebrows, causing Maria to laugh and shake her head.

"Is this all you think of?" she asked, putting her hands on her hips.

"Maybe." he replied, "But only with my beautiful wife."

Maria barely blinked and his lips were on hers. After a while, Georg pulled away, looking up and down her nightgown-clad body.

"You've got to stop wearing this tent," he muttered, walking around her.

"Tent?" Maria looked down at her nightgown.

"Yes, I wanted to see more of my beautiful wife." Maria's breathing hitched as she felt his hot breath on the back of her neck.

"More?" Maria turned around but he put his large hands on her shoulders, keeping her from turning around.

"Stay," he mumbled, running his hands up and down her body.

Maria hummed in satisfaction, enjoying the feeling of his hands on her waist.

Just then, someone knocked on their door. Georg let out a disgruntled groan.

"Later, I promise" Maria said, giving him a quick kiss on the lips before walking away to open the door.

On the other side of the door stood Louisa, who opened her mouth to speak when Liesl ran down the hall and covered her mouth.

"Liesl, please let go of your sister." Maria calmly instructed.

"Don't believe anything she says!" Liesl took her hand off Louisa's mouth. Louisa blew raspberries at Liesl.

"Please, girls. It's nearly eleven o'clock." Maria sighed, "Now, Louisa, what were you about to say?"

"Liesl's reading romance books in her room!" Louisa pointed at her sister who had an exasperated look on her face.

"Were you, Liesl?" Maria looked pointedly at the slightly ashamed girl.

"Yes, mother." Liesl quietly said before considering an excuse and looking toward her proud sister. "But it's for school!"

"Romance books at school?" Maria questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"Romeo and Juliet." Liesl quickly said, looking smugly back at her sister, who wasn't so proud anymore.

"I wouldn't call it a romance book," came Georg's voice from behind Maria. "More of a tragedy."

"Exactly, Liesl!" Louisa raised her chin at her sister.

"Now, don't you two start," Maria told them. "Please go to bed, your sister's birthday is tomorrow."

"Yes, mother." The two teenagers walked back to their rooms.

Maria closed the door, turning back to her husband.

"Now, about that promise..."

A day later...

Maria and Georg woke up to a weight between them, what in the world?

"Hm.." Georg groaned, turning to his wife; who was wide awake.

"Good morning!" he heard a voice, who he identified as Gretl, say. "Today's my birthday!"

"Yes, dear." Maria said, "Are the others awake?"

"I'm not sure." Gretl scratched her chin.

"Well, why don't you get changed and meet us downstairs?"

"Okay!"

After Gretl left, Georg groaned as Maria pushed the curtains aside; allowing the sunlight to pour into the room.

"You've got to wake up eventually," Maria told him. "Even if you don't want to."

"I suppose waking up myself is better than getting squashed by seven children," Georg replied.

"The children and I made apple pie the other day, do you think we could ask chef to use the leftover apples to make some apfelradln*?"

"Oh! Apfelradln!" Georg's eyes lit up. Maria rolled her eyes, her husband had a horrible sweet tooth. He was even worse than Kurt!

"I'm going to go check on the children." Noticing that her husband was busy brushing his teeth, she shrugged and walked towards the children's bedrooms.

Georg came out of the bathroom with no Maria in sight, he was going to take his sweet time getting ready when he heard the familiar shrilling sound of a whistle.

He immediately rushed downstairs, to find everyone in the dining room staring at him. With a side glance, he saw Gretl giggling with something silver in her hand. He simply sat down, but... ouch!

"Ahh!" He jumped up and saw a pinecone on his chair. Georg! Think fast, what did Maria do to prevent herself from embarrassment? That's right! "...hahahahah..."

He brushed the pinecone off of his chair with a clunk! to the ground, he cleared his throat.

"Rheumatism." he winked at his wife.

Maria and the children burst out laughing.

"What is this joke about rheumatism?" Max appeared behind him.

"Uncle Max!" The children rushed toward Max, who was standing at the doorway. Of course, it was Max! He narrowed his eyes at his grinning wife.

"What a lovely surprise, Max!" Maria exclaimed, fully aware that she was the one that invited him. "Have you had breakfast yet?"

"Thank you for asking," Max said, "No, I have not!"

"Great, because coincidentally chef made an extra plate." Maria cheerily said, emphasizing the word: 'coincidentally' while pointing to an empty seat next to Brigitta.

"Oh, apfelradln!" Max exclaimed, "This is certainly one of my favorite things!"

The children giggled at his reference to Maria's song, she had sung it along with the children in a puppet show she had done with them.

After all the children (including Max) sat down, Georg saw a small note beside his plate.

Help me bring the cake from the kitchen?

-M

He realized Maria wasn't in her seat when he looked up, but she was standing in the doorway behind him.

"The children are busy talking with Max, come on!" she mouthed to him.

Georg quickly got up and followed his wife to the kitchen, where he saw the cake on the counter.

It was a chocolate cake with white icing slathered on it with 'Happy Birthday, Gretl!' written on it.

"It's not the best cake, but the girls and I tried." Maria smiled, recalling the fun they had making the cake. "We had to convince Friedrich and Kurt to play tea party with Gretl, we knew she wouldn't be able to resist a tea party with her brothers."

"It's not bad, I think she'll love it."

Just then, he saw Maria put her finger which was covered with icing into her mouth. He instantly felt incredibly jealous of her finger, he began to argue with himself in his head.

"Georg?" Maria broke him out of his reverie, "The cake?"

"Ah, yes."

After singing Happy Birthday and eating the cake, they all sat down in the salon to give Gretl her gifts.

"Happy birthday, Gretl," Kurt and Friedrich said, giving Gretl a small box with purple wrapping paper messily wrapped around it. "We made this for you."

The boys watched in excitement as Gretl took the wrapping paper off and opened the box, inside was a small flower crown. Friedrich put it on her head, "It looks very nice on you."

After Gretl thanked Kurt and Friedrich, she turned to Maria and Georg.

"Did you get me what I wished for?" she asked innocently, "In case you forgot, I wished for a little sibling."

Maria's face turned crimson and Georg spat his water back into the cup while Liesl, Friedrich, Louisa, and Brigitta (seriously, she was too young to understand that!) giggled, Max was desperately trying to contain his laughter.

"Well, darling... unfortunately, your father and I couldn't get you a sibling," Maria awkwardly explained, "It's not that easy, you know."

Max burst out laughing and everybody turned to him, "Sorry, Liesl said something funny in my ear."

"Why isn't it that easy?" Gretl looked up at Maria with puppy eyes, Maria looked at Georg for assistance.

"Well, erm, there are... steps." he scratched the back of his neck, and Liesl silently chortled. "And like your mother said, it isn't that simple."

"I think you're making excuses, father," Marta said, standing up to sit beside Gretl.

"Excuses for what?"

"Excuses for hurting Mother!" Marta accused, pointing at Georg. "Last night, I woke up to use the restroom and I heard noises coming from mother and father's bedroom!"

At this point, Max was snorting with laughter along with the older children while Maria and Georg stared at Marta blankly.

"Oh, darling. That's not-" Maria didn't get a chance to finish her sentence when Brigitta pointed to Maria's neck.

"Look! You have a mark there!" she exclaimed, knowing very well what the pink mark on Maria's collarbone was. Maria looked more embarrassed than she did before.

"That's just a bite I got from a mosquito," Maria defended, adjusting her summer dress to cover the mark.

"Is it itchy?" Marta asked.

"What's itchy?" Louisa asked, overhearing their conversation.

"Mother has a mosquito bite!" Gretl exclaimed.

"A bite?" Friedrich asked.

"Can I see it?" questioned Kurt.

"I think I've read a book about mosquito bites before, maybe I can help you take care of it." Brigitta offered.

"I'll be fine," Maria nervously chuckled.

"I can grab some cream for you!" Marta offered, "I'm sure we have some upstairs, or maybe Uncle Max has some!"

"I'm sure I have some cream somewhere in here-" Max said, searching his pockets. "Ah ha!"

"I'm quite alright, Max."

"No, I insist!" Max said, handing the tube of cream to a humiliated Maria. She hesitantly squirted a tiny bit of cream onto her finger, her stomach churning at the sight of the cream. She applied the cream to the pink mark on her collarbone and gave the cream back to Max.

"Oh no, it's alright. You can keep it, I'm sure you'll need it in the future." Max teased.

Maria gave him a deadly look, Max immediately took it back.

Meanwhile, Gretl was begging Georg for the sibling as Max was teasing Maria about the mark. The rest of the children merely giggled at the two interactions.

"Please, father!" Gretl pleaded.

"Like your mother and I had said before," Georg gave Gretl's head a light pat, "It isn't that simple."

"Oh, but can't you just get one from the park?" Gretl rolled her eyes, "It really isn't that hard, father."

Georg snapped his head in Gretl's direction, "No, Gretl. That isn't how it works."

"Alright, then how does it work?"

"Uh-well, you've got to make the baby... I mean you can't just grab one from the park." Georg looked towards Maria, this was not planned at all. "Who would create the babies at the park?"

"Well, then you and mother can create one!" Gretl exclaimed loudly, causing Maria to choke on her saliva aggressively beside Max and Liesl, "Problem solved!"

"Mother, are you alright?" Liesl turned to a coughing Maria, she slowly led Maria out the door to the restroom, stopping at the doorway. "Excuse us, father. Gretl, why don't you open my gift next?"

"Alright!" Gretl grabbed the present that was simply wrapped in white paper.

Liesl took Maria, who had recovered from her coughing to the restroom.

"Are you okay?" Liesl asked before Maria closed the door, "Why did you close the door-"

"Maids." Maria simply told her, "They gossip, about me, about everything."

"What's there to gossip about?"

"It may seem weird, that I'm telling you this first," Maria whispered, leaning against the door. "I'm late for my cycle- but you mustn't tell anyone."

"Why not?" Liesl furrowed her brow, "This is so exciting!"

"Shh!" Maria put a finger to Liesl's lips, "Maids!"

"Right, sorry."

"Let's not jump to conclusions."

"Oh, but a new little sister or brother would be so wonderful! I hope it's a boy!"

"Would you like to accompany me to the doctor's next week?"

"I would love to!" Liesl exclaimed before Maria hushed her, "Sorry."

When Georg entered their bedroom that night, he found Maria asleep- upside down on the bed, her feet up on her pillow. He chuckled at the rare sight and Maria stirred at the sound.

"Mmm..." she mumbled, rolling onto her back.

"Are you awake, darling?"

"I love you," she muttered before falling asleep again.

"I love you too," he lifted her body up, putting her back to where she should be, perched up against fluffy pillows.

He climbed into the spot beside her, admiring his wife as she slept. He couldn't help but brush a lock of golden hair off of her forehead, making her stir again.

She opened her eyes, "Hello."

"Hello, love." he kissed her forehead.

"Could you..." Maria trailed off.

"Could I what?"

"Could you hold me?" Maria quietly requested.

"Of course," Georg wrapped his arms around her, nuzzling his nose into her soft hair. The smell of her shampoo enveloped his senses, gently filling his nostrils with the aroma of vanilla and coconut.

"Thank you," Maria softly said, resting her head on his chest.

"No need to thank me, I'll always hold you," he told her. Suddenly, he felt the wetness of tears underneath his fingers as he grazed her cheek with his thumb. "Maria, did I do something?"

"No," she sniffled, wiping her tears with her palm. "It's just...you're so kind and loving to me and...oh, I don't even know why I'm crying!"

She laughed but the tears continued to trail down her cheeks, "I'm sorry, I feel so emotional. Maybe it's been a long day, and my body's just messing with me!"

"Let's go to sleep, that might make you feel better," he suggested, kissing her hair.

"Okay," Maria closed her eyes, "Goodnight, darling."

"Goodnight, my love," he murmured into her hair before they both drifted off to sleep.

"Congratulations, ma'am." the doctor told Maria, "You are indeed with child."

"Oh, mother! That's wonderful!" Liesl squeaked.

"Yes, it is." Maria smiled at the excited 17-year-old, appreciating the youthful enthusiasm in the room. However, her thoughts were interrupted when Liesl grabbed her arm suddenly.

"If you'll excuse us, doctor, we've got to go!" Liesl practically dragged Maria out of the doctor's office, the door swinging shut behind them, leaving the confused doctor behind.

"What was that about?" Maria asked when they sat on a nearby bench.

"We must tell father!" Liesl added, "Immediately!"

"Calm down, please!" Maria laughed.

"Oh! It would be terribly romantic if you planned a date night with him to reveal the news!" Liesl broke out in a big smile, "I could help you plan it!"

"What a great idea!"

"Thank you." Liesl batted her eyelashes proudly, making Maria laugh.

"What about tonight?" Maria asked.

"Yes! I'll ask the others to help!" Liesl exclaimed, "I hope father will like it!"

"I'm sure he will," Maria reassured the teenager with a warm smile. "How about we celebrate with a lunch? Where would you like to go?"

"Could we try the new cafe?" Liesl's eyes lit up with excitement as she clapped her hands together eagerly.

"Of course." Maria agreed with a smile, and together, the two headed down the bustling street towards the cafe.

"Everyone, in here!" Liesl swept into the drawing room with an air of excitement, her siblings following suit as they entered the cozy space.

"What is it?" Kurt asked, "I was playing a game of cards with Friedrich!"

"And I was just finishing a chapter!" Brigitta crossed her arms in annoyance.

"Trust me, this is much more important!" Liesl told her siblings, her eyes wide with thrill. "We need to help mother plan a date night tonight, for her and father! Imagine how romantic it could be!"

Louisa groaned, Kurt stuck his tongue out while Brigitta, Marta, and Gretl listened to Liesl's plan.

"Why does everything have to be romantic for you?" Louisa grumbled, annoyance laced her words.

"Lou, it's a date night," Liesl huffed, her tone matter-of-factly mixed with a hint of exasperation. "It's supposed to be romantic."

"Alright, what's your plan?" asked a curious Brigitta.

"Brigitta, Marta, and Friedrich are doing the decorations," Liesl quickly decided, "Gretl, Kurt, Louisa, and I are making the food."

"Uh...why do we have to make the food?" Louisa asked, "Kurt is going to eat all of it anyway."

"Hey!" Kurt pursed his lips.

"Also, we have a chef." Louisa added, "So, what's the point?"

"Mother is going to share some very special news with father, so she might want us to participate," Liesl told the three.

M

"How are the decorations?" Liesl asked, walking into the gazebo. "Woah."

"We're almost done," Friedrich said.

"Who's we?" Brigitta narrowed her eyes at him, "You didn't even do anything."

"I put the lights up!"

"I hope it's romantic enough!" Marta exclaimed, giving Liesl a toothy smile.

"It is!" Liesl responded.

"Mother and father are going to love it!" Marta twirled around in the gazebo.

"I think it needs one last touch." Brigitta gathered the edelweiss she had picked out into a makeshift bouquet before carefully placing them into the vase.

"What did you cook?" Friedrich intriguingly asked.

"Schnizetl with noodles," Liesl said triumphantly, "I did most of the cooking part, Louisa helped to prepare the food that I cooked, and Kurt gathered the ingredients with Marta.

"You know how to cook?"

"Of course I do!" Liesl said, knowing that she had asked their chef, Julia for help. "I can't believe you didn't know that!"

"The children prepared it," Maria told her blindfolded husband, leading him towards the gazebo. "They even cooked the food."

"Wow,"

"I know!" Maria's jaw dropped at the sight of the gazebo, "It really is... beautiful."

"Are you going to take my tie off my eyes yet?"

"Ah...yes." Maria slowly undid the tie around his head.

"How romantic," he chuckled, "Liesl planned this, didn't she?"

"Yes, she did," Maria confirmed with a nod.

"Where did you two go today?"

"About that..." Maria's lips curled up into a smile. "Today, I received some news."

"News?"

"Liesl accompanied me to the doctor's office and he confirmed that I am with child."

He erupted into a smile, raised her off the ground, and twirled her around.

She laughed when he put her back down on the ground.

"Oh, my love." he caressed her cheek, "I am certainly the happiest man on earth."

"You ought to be!" she playfully chided. "Should we tell Max first or-"

"The children." They both said in unison.

*Apfelradln is a common Austrian breakfast made by deep frying apple rings according to sources online.

A/N: I prefer this version a lot more than the first one, I feel like it's flower (?) but I'm not sure. I was rereading this one to write a one-shot for the next chapter and I realized it made no sense at all, so here is one that makes more sense. There might be another chapter coming soon if I have enough time, also, Born to Die's rewrite is coming and it's going to be angsty. I hope you enjoyed and feel free to give feedback, I'm open to criticism!
