"Come on Gaemon, Starfyre is probably bored out of his mind!" Viserra said as she was running to the Dragon pit.
I sighed as I cursed my father and mother for allowing us to come to the dragon pit. Or more specifically their intention with me or Viserra. I was not blind in their hopes to pair me up with Viserra.
On a pragmatic side I can understand why they would want us to marry. Keeps the bloodline pure and to keep the image only those with Targaryen blood can tame dragons.
The problem was that I was a 21st century person stuck inside a six year old body. Meaning my family and my own morals were absolutely different. I don't think I could ever see Viserra as a woman I could marry. Yet I doubt Jaehaerys would hear anything I say.
Goddammit I fucking hate GRRM for making the Targaryens into a incestours focus!
"Hello Sir. Arthur and Sir George. How's your morning and is Starfyre causing you trouble? " I greeted the Dragon Keepers who were wearing their standard dragon scale armor.
"Prince Gaemon, the morning has been peaceful. Starfyre has been his usual handful self." Sir Arthur said with a sigh.
"I'm sorry I spoiled him rotten." I said with a sheepish smile
"It is not your fault Prince Gaemon. A dragon's nature is unchangeable, he would have still been an insufferable beast to handle even without you." George said with a tired and distant look in his eyes.
"Whelp I'll be off. Make sure you guys get plenty of rest." I said before entering the Dragon pit only to see Viserra giving Starfyre scratches and giving him his favorite meat.
Majority of Starfyre's scales were pitch black like the midnight sky with a few of them being the deepest color of blue I have ever seen. The blue scales reminded me of stars and so I named my partner Starfyre. Original, yes I know.
"Oi aim chop liver?" I asked out loud. Starfyre looked at me and with great speed tackled me to the ground. As he nuzzles me with his snout against my face.
"Someone help me this fearsome beast is trying to feast upon my beautiful flesh." Isaid with an over dramatic voice. Which cause Viserra to giggled at my response
"Yeah yeah I missed you too buddy." I said as I pushed Starfyre off me.
"So I heard you've been giving the Dragonkeepers a hard time." I glared at Starfyre and he had the gall to look towards Viserra and growl in an innocent manner.
"Starfyre I can understand having a few laughs here and there but don't cause unnecessary trouble for the DragonKeepers. They are just doing their jobs and you should respect them" I said and Starfyre snorted.
I sighed Starfyre was probably the most troublesome dragon for the DragonKeepers to take care of. Even Balerion was easier to handle, mostly because he just didn't care what was going on so long as he could sleep and eat.
It wasn't hard to figure out why though. I spend most of my time outside of training and studies with Strafyre. Sneaking some of Starfyre's favorite smoked meats between meals, picking off loose scales, taking Starfyre out of the Dragonpit and playing with him all day long. I also took some naps with Starfyre in the past.
Our bond was as strong as valyrian steel.
Leaving little to no time for the Starfyre to get accustomed to the DragonKeepers. Since I was the only human Starfyre interacted with, other than Viserra, in any meaningful way. Starfyre was naturally skeptical of allowing other humans near him without me around him.
"So buddy ready for our daily exercise?" I asked and Starfyre just yelped in excitement.

Starfyre banked slightly to the side as the two of us swam through the bright blue sky. Alone with the clouds, we danced through the grandest of stages. No past to weigh me down and no future to wear me away. Only the moment - between one heartbeat and the next - truly mattered as we flew. My blood sang in my veins. Without the chain and saddle that kept me tethered, I wondered if I would fall down or float up ever higher - such was my joy.
I shifted in my seat and leaned over to watch the scenery pass on by. The land below wasn't quite real from so high up in the air - more model than anything that man might walk. Trees and rivers and hills so artfully sculpted so as to almost seem genuine. We flew over a grey stoned castle that sat overlooking a winding river. I idly reached out and covered the stronghold with a gloved hand, blocking it from view. Such an insignificant little thing - I felt I could knock it over with an errant wave of my hand or a particularly strong sneeze. The images of toy blocks flying everywhere filled my head. I grinned until my cheeks hurt.
How to Train Your Dragon was right. Flying above the ocean with someone you considered your other half was an experience. I can understand why the Targaryens had so much pride in their dragons.
To feel the wind hitting against their faces. To see the land below. To have this sense of ultimate freedom. I was glad I could fly Starfyre in just six years. I was lucky that Starfyre was big enough to ride so soon.
Starfyre was the size of a baby elephant. An enormous growth spurt for a six-year dragon. It was thanks to plenty of meals, exercise, and a bit of genetics. After all, Balerion was Starfyre's older brother.
Starfyre came from the same batch of eggs as Balerion. I was initially surprised by the fact but hey if Dany could revive three dead dragon eggs then Starfyre can be Balerion's little brother.
Starfyre's wings began to slow down, and I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "You are getting tired buddy, it's time to land."
Starfyre's response was to whine like the brat he was. I just gave him a sympathetic look and pat on his neck.
"I know buddy. I wish we can stay up here forever. But that's impossible." I said with a small sigh as I looked at King's Landing.
"We might live there buddy but can we both agree it smells like shit?" I said, and Starfyre snorted at my question as we began to fly back to the Dragon Pit.
