[78 AC]
The Good Queen Alysanne wanted to rip her hair out in frustration. It wasn't anything new to the mother of nine children.
Aemon, with his constant arguing with Jae.
Baelon-does she really need to explain why she always worries about the son who hit the Black Dread in the nose at the age of six?
Alyssa, with her free spirit, ignored all her training to be a Lady during her youth.
Maegelle honestly was probably the only one of her children that didn't cause her any grief.
Vaegon, how she failed miserably with him. She didn't notice how isolated he felt until the day he sprung his desire to study at the Citadel with the family.
Saera and Viserra, who she neglected for years and left their relationships strained.
Gaemon, her little dragon, who skips lessons with the Maester, ignores etiquette when he can, and those drawings that he believes he hid so well in his room. If her little dragon even attempts anything depicted in his drawings he will be acquitted with Silverwing's stomach.
Now for her latest headache, her sweet but stubborn Daella. She threw out her engagement with the Blackwood heir. That was her sixth suitor! While Jae, gladly threw out the engagement with Corlys Velaryon as soon as he could. Claiming that the Velaryons were already family enough. The other suitors were from lesser houses and, to some degree, went to inappropriate lengths in their courting. So they really didn't need to put any airs on why Daella wouldn't marry any of them.
However, they couldn't exactly do that with the Blackwoods. They were a prestigious house within the Riverlands. To have a princess engage with their heir only for said princess to cancel it due to the family's religion.
She can already see the High Septon using this to push his agenda. Not only that, the backlash within the Riverlands will be felt for the next couple of years. Finally, Daella's reputation has different preferences than what was acceptable.
Hrrgh, it was times like these that she wished Maegor finished the Faith off for good. It was bad enough dealing with ambitious nobility but was a hundred times worse when she had to deal with Holier than thou Septons.
She was broken out of her thoughts when she heard the door to her room open. She saw her little dragon in his riding gear quickly closing the door and locking it as quickly as he opened it. He looked out of breath, and she raised her eyebrow knowing.
"Hiding from Viserra?" She asked
"She ambushed me with Saerra. They would have dragged me off to play house if Starfyre hadn't sacrificed himself for me." Gaemon said with a look of faux loss on his face.
"Starfyre is such a good boy, how could a troublemaker like yourself ever have such a pure-hearted partner?" She asked with the mask of the Good Queen.
Her little dragon looked at her with scrunching eyes trying to discern whether she was lying or not. Gaemon was always more observant and intelligent than his brothers when they were his age. She could guilt trip her other sons into confessing their mischief in a matter of seconds when they were little boys.
With Gaemon he was never fooled, or at least completely. He was always clever about his mischief making sure there was no evidence or witnesses. He would never reveal his mischief unless there was sufficient proof.
"Can I help you with anything?" Gaemon asked once he gave up trying to discern her true opinions on Starfyre.
"Trying to bribe me to keep your sisters away?" She asked
"Yes." Gaemon said with a straight face, and she giggled.
"Fine, I do need help with some embroidery." She said and Gaemon sighed as he sat down next to her. He held up the embroidery frame as she started to do her needlework.
"What will be my new sibling's name?" Gaemon asked and she quirked her eyebrow.
"What makes you believe you are having a new sibling." She asked
"You haven't had wine all week long." Gaemon said and she smiled.
"So observant." She sighed. "If it's a boy Valerion, if it's a girl Gael." She said and Gaemon looked with hopeful eyes.
"I hope it's a boy. I spend enough time with Viserra and Saerra as it is." Gaemon said and she smiled at her boy with a teasing smile.
"Oh, what would poor Viserys do when he finds out his favorite Uncle doesn't want to spend time with him anymore?" She asked, and Gaemon blanched.
"Please don't say that. We both know what will happen." Gaemon said as he shivered.
Oh yes, she knows all too well what Alyssa will do to anyone who makes Viserys cry. She was quite proud of her daughter for her motherly instincts and fully approved of her actions. She heard rattling coming from her door.
""GAEMON, WE KNOW YOU ARE IN THERE!!!"" Viserra and Saerra yelled behind the door. Gaemon looked a bit nervous. Before shaking him, so sure he is safe. I got up and walked towards the door, ignoring the look of betrayal that her little dragon had on his face. She opened the door to see Viserra and Saera's messed up hair and dresses.
"He's over there, and please try to keep the room tidy." She said to her youngest daughters as they smiled at Gaemon with vengeful gleams in their eyes. As walked through the halls, she let out a satisfied sigh.
Honestly, her little dragon believes himself so clever that he can escape punishment for his mischief.
