Chapter 6: Bionis, The World of Life

As they traversed the galaxy, Samus and Fox took a look at the Convergence Crystal they had found on Fortuna. "This thing seriously gives off a whole lot of radiation," Fox said. "Yet it doesn't seem to be harmful… for now," Samus said. "You said it was called a Convergence Crystal and that there are seven more out there somewhere?" Fox asked. "Precisely. Sinister forces are at hand since our fight with M. Bison, and so I want to discover what this is before our enemies do," Samus said.

The console beeped as Falco talked, "Hey Fox. It looks like we arrived at our next destination." "Got it. Be right there," Fox said, "C'mon. Let's go." Fox and Samus arrived at the bridge where they saw a world filled with water and islands. Star Fox prepared their Arwings as Samus prepared her gunship. "Are you sure this is a good idea? Only you and Samus?" Peppy asked. "Yeah. I don't like it one bit," Falco said. "Shut up Falco! You don't get an opinion here, you jealous chicken!" Peppy scolded. "We'll be fine, Peppy. I trust her," Fox said. "Well I am coming with you," Peppy said. "I guess we do need all the hands we can get," Fox said. "Wait! What are me and Falco supposed to do?" Slippy asked.

Fox took Falco and Slippy to the room that held the Convergence Crystal and he turned on a holo projector that showed ruins. "You two are gonna do research on this thing, and find out stuff we don't know. You'll also be protecting it, in case trouble comes," Fox said. "Man. I hate doing this," Falco said. "Just do it. We'll be back in no time," Fox said.

Fox left Falco and Slippy in the room as he hopped aboard his Arwing and he, Peppy, and Samus descended into the planet. "Alright. We gotta be careful. We're not sure how the locals will react to two talking animals and a woman in metal armor so we'll land somewhere away from the closest civilization. The Arwings flew ahead and found themselves a Colony and Samus found a nearby cave where they could park their vehicles.

"Looks like that's a good place to start," Fox said. "Agreed," Samus said. "You better not get us into trouble," Peppy said. "Are you talking to me, or her?" Fox asked. "Both of you," Peppy said. "Right. Got that," Fox said. The three of them traveled through a cave which was rich with minerals and large and cavernous. "If my map is correct, then by following this path we can find the exit towards the colony," Samus said. "You have scanners in that helmet of yours?" Peppy asked. "Correct," Samus said.

As they walked through the cave, their steps echoed through the walls. "What do you think we'll find here?" Fox asked. "Not sure. I just hope it is useful," Samus said. They walked past a small pod made of webs, and the vibrations of their steps awoke what was inside as the pod began to break. "That doesn't sound good," Peppy said. "No it does not," Samus said. A small, spider-like monster jumped out of the pod. More pods broke open following this one and surrounded the trio. They all began shooting these monsters and easily dealt with them. "Hopefully that didn't make too much noise," Fox said.

Samus suddenly heard a battle cry of sorts as she was smacked suddenly by some sword and tossed back. Fox and Peppy immediately grabbed their blasters and shot at the attacker, but the attacker was shielded by their big sword. The attacker was charging straight at Fox and Peppy until Samus came back and pushed the sword back like a football player pushing a practice dummy. Samus charged her arm blaster and shot the sword, launching the attacker back. "You think that's gonna stop me! I won't let you harm the Colony!"

The attacker charged ahead. Samus kept her distance, barraging the attacker with energy attacks. Suddenly, symbols appeared in front of the attacker and he glowed blue and red. Samus got a look at him. He was muscular with a red headband allowing his blonde hair to look tall. The attacker immediately charged forward and Samus' attacks were not doing much against him. Samus charged her arm cannon and unleashed a huge beam of energy. The attacker immediately ran back and dodged the cannon. Samus decided that this was the moment to charge ahead. So did the attacker. "Stop!" yelled a voice. Samus and the attacker were about to clash hands until a blue light appeared between them, causing both of them to jump back.

The one who stopped the fight was one who wielded a sword, a blade that was made of a blue energy. He appeared youthful, as with his blonde hair and red jacket and yet he seemed to be more respectable than the one who began the attack. The stopper sheathed his blade. "Shulk! What was that for?! I was about to win!" the attacker complained. "Reyn. There is no need to fight here. We do not know their intentions," Shulk said. "Hey! That was what I was gonna say. Maybe there is hope for the younger generation," Peppy said. "Yeah. Yeah. Sure Peppy. Now who are you guys?" Fox asked.

After some quick apologies, mainly from Reyn, Shulk introduced himself and Reyn. "You see. We were heading back to Colony 9 with some Ether Cylinders when Reyn heard some blasts. They were unfamiliar to us, so he assumed it may have been a threat," Shulk said. "Hey! I said I was sorry," Reyn complained. "I see. Well, the name's Fox McCloud. This guy here is a member of my team, Peppy O'Hare," Fox said. Samus took off her helmet, "And I'm Samus," she said. "Wha?! He's a she!" Reyn exclaimed. "Reyn!" Shulk exclaimed. "Don't worry. I get that a lot," Samus said. "Oh good, because I was shocked too," Shulk said. "Hey!" Reyn exclaimed.

Shulk agreed to help them through the rest of the cave. They all walked together, faced some monsters, but finally found themselves back on the bridger that led to Colony 9. "So this place is called Colony 9, and it's on something called the Bionis?" Fox asked. "It was the Bionis. A large Titan, but eventually it formed to be land which all races here share," Shulk said. "Boy! That was a wicked adventure!" Reyn yelled. "Sounds like a good tale to tell," Peppy said. "I must ask. Why have you come?" Shulk asked. Samus turned on a hologram which showed the Convergence Crystal. "We come seeking information for this. There are powerful forces at hand which would literally kill for this," Samus said. Shulk took a look at the gem. "Hm, I am not sure what this is, but I do feel like I have seen some information like this when I had been doing research on the Monado," Shulk said. "Could you help us with this?" Samus asked. "I could give it a try. It may take some time," Shulk said.

Shulk looked at the sky as the sun was descending. "Hm. I'm afraid I may need to look at the research in the morning," he said. "Hm. Alright. I suppose we can wait a bit," Fox said. "You must be hungry. I believe dinner should be ready soon at Fiora's, if you wish to join us that is," Shulk said. "Food! It would be our delight," Peppy said. "Alright. I'll contact Falco and Slippy and notify them," Fox said.

They walked towards the house that belonged to Fiora, but little did they know that they were being watched. They all arrived at Fiora's dwelling, where Reyn immediately smelled the food cooking, along with Peppy. "Oh my! What is that delicacy I smell?" Peppy asked. "That is Fiora's cooking," Reyn said, "And it is absolutely delicious." Shulk opened the door. "Fiora, we have arrived," Shulk said.

Cooking in the kitchen was a girl, around the same age as Shulk. She wore a white top paired with a brown skirt and brown boots. "Shulk, you made it, and it seems you have brought some new friends," she said. "Everyone, this is Fiora. Fiora this is Fox, Peppy, and Samus," Shulk said. "Greetings," Fox said. "Salutations," Samus said. "What a lovely abode you have here ma'am," Peppy said. "Nice to meet all of you. Food should be done soon," Fiora said. As Fiora served the food, she called out, "Dunban! Food is served." "On my way, Fiora," said a voice upstairs.

They were met by a man, older than the others. His silver hair met his shoulders. His attire looked traditional, and yet it does look futuristic at the same time. "Oh. I see we have some new guests. Well the more the merrier," he said. "This is Dunban. He's Fiora's older brother," Shulk said. "Nice to meet you," Peppy said.

Everyone gathered on a table where Fiora had served a nice and steaming curry. Fox smelled a whiff of it and immediately began salivating. "It smells so good!" Fox exclaimed. "Thank you. I made it myself," Fiora said. "Eh, that's what I say. Fiora's food is the best round here," Reyn said. They all began eating. Reyn and Peppy exchanged battle stories and more stories of their many adventures. Shulk and Samus talked about the Convergence Crystals and any possible history that could've linked them to the Titans or anything in this world. Fox discussed the many enemies he faced during his adventures, and Dunban naturally through his experience shared similar experiences.

"This is fascinating. Tell me, do you have a place to stay?" Dunban asked. "Well our plan was to sleep in our spaceships for the night," Fox said. "Really Fox," Peppy complained. "What?" Fox questioned. "You know those seats are bad for my back. That's why I only pilot them. Not sleep in them," Peppy said. "Well then, why not stay with us? At least for the night. That way, you can rest and retrieve the information you require in the morning," Dunban offered. "Take the offer Fox. Don't be rude," Peppy whispered to Fox. "Alright. Sounds good," Fox said.

Everyone continued their conversation. Away from their sights, a red light, like a camera, watched their conversation unfold. With a techy hum, the object in question flew from the window and away from Colony 9 towards another island away from the Colony. The object beeped twice, sending a signal to something, or someone. As the moon was the only source shining this island, a shadow appeared and out came a man.

The man had a rotund physique. He wore a red military jacket with white gloves. The moon reflected from his bald head as the light shined through his goggles. Lastly, a prominent feature was his thick, busy, triangle mustache.

"What is it my creation?" he asked. The drone hummed as information was passed directly into the man's goggles. The man read the difficult code with ease. "Oh, so… the ones M. Bison warned off. Well, they should prove no problem for me. Soon, only I will rule this world, and transform it into… the Eggman Empire!" he yelled.

"Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho!" he laughed.
