"Sugar. The fuck did you do too piss Crim off? He sent an alert to everyone." Leo said frantically

It was late at night and Sugar had been wandering the streets aimlessly. She came across Leo standing at a street corner and smoking.

"Leo, I can't go back to him. Please don't take me back there." Sugar sobbed.

Leo sighed and shook his cigarette at her. "I don't wanna get involved in your domestic issues

"Please. I'll pay you back for it." Sugar flew up to his height and stroked his face. Her wings flapped gently. "Just like the last time."

"Shit. You're gonna get me in trouble my little Siren" Leo chuckles. "Come on. Let's get you out of this Ring."

"Thanks. I'll pay you back. I promise." Sugar's eyes lit up. She was glad that one guy in the family could be trusted.

The two demons walked the streets hand in hand until they stopped in front of a dead imp leaning against an abandoned jeep.

"Convenient." Leo grinned and started stripping the corpse.

"Holy Satan! What are you doing? The suit looks decent but it's definitely not gonna fit you"

"It ain't for me Sugar, It's for you. To mask your scent. Every shark in the Knolastname family knows your will make it harder for them to sniff you out."

"Ew. This looks tacky. Can't we find something that fits better?"

"We ain't got time to look around for a more fashionable corpse for ya. Just take it."

Leo tossed the clothes to Sugar as she clumsily attempted to catch it. Then, he punches through the glass window of the jeep. His white tipped claws started to bleed; he was unfazed by it. He only shrugged and started working on the wires in the front seat. Sugar stood and watched as Leo's spotted tail sways.

"So where do you wanna go? Back to Lust I assume?" Wires started sparking in Leo's claws.

"No. I can't. That's the first place he'll look. I know a place in Wrath that's perfect." Sugar sighed. "I just hope it works out."

"Shame. I'd let you stay at my place if I could." The jeep started humming and Leo's tail started flicking excitedly. "Awesome. Get in"

Sugar reluctantly got dressed in the back seat of the car as Leo started driving. The road was packed with countless vehicles who were all honking. Demons were sticking their heads out of the windows of their cars and screaming expletives. Sugar clutched at the cuffs of her new suit. Her tail was flicking the seat and caused a thumping sound.

"Ya scared Siren?" Leo chuckled. "Don't worry. We're about to head into the Wrath tunnel. We gotta try and keep cool. Don't let the atmosphere get to ya."

Sugar didn't respond and stared silently out the window. The further they drove into the tunnel, the darker it inside of the tunnel was lit up with circular lights that hung on the ceiling. The light shone a pumpkin orange color. It was what Sugar imagined a heat wave would look like if it was visible. They drove through a bright yellow portal and landed in the wrath ring. The scenery instantly changed to a bright and hot dessert. Around them was nothing but sand and Cactuses.

"Leo, sniff this" Sugar said sternly and handed him a bright red handkerchief.

Leo takes a whiff of the handkerchief and smiles. "This belongs to a male snake demon or a horse."

"Wrong! It's an imp! But he does ride a horse." Sugar chuckles

"Shit. I could have sworn I smelled snakes. Is he a friend?"

"Sorta."

Sugar thought about her last interaction with Striker. It was the most confusing interaction she had ever had. He insulted her harshly but eventually agreed to help her get home. In her eyes, he wasn't any different from most guys she interacted with and hoped he was in the mood to let her stay at his hideout.

Leo stopped the jeep in front of some train tracks. "This is where the scent ends, Sugar"

"Thanks Leo. I owe you a date when all this is over."

Sugar hopped out of the car and flew over to the closest tunnel. As Leo sped off, she finally realized the weight of the situation she was in. All she had with her was the suit on her back and the apple purse that Crimson had gifted her. Despite everything, she loved this purse and she enjoyed the home she had with Crimson. Maybe she was crazy to feel that way after what Crimson said and he fact that he beat her, but the attachment still lingered. "Leaving was the right thing to do." she thought to herself repeatedly. It was hard for her to believe it but she hoped coming to Wrath would be a good place to start.

As she entered the tunnel, she found an old miner cart sitting on the track. She jumped inside it and used her wings to pick up wind and get the cart to move. The cart accelerated faster and faster down the tracks like a rollercoaster. She screamed until she landed roughly onto the dirt. All she could hear was the sound of a horse whining.

"What in satan's name are you doin here, girl?" Striker said.A guitar hung loosely over his shoulders and his face had an annoyed expression. "How the hell did you find this place?"

Sugar brushed herself off as she stood up. "How much do demons pay you for a kill?"

"$50,000. But I'm more bothered by how the hell you found my hideout. Crazy bitch."

Sugar rolled her eyes and fumbling she claws inside of her purse. She pulled out a leather bound wallet. It was Crimson's wallet. "You reek, that's how. I'll pay you double your usual cost to let me stay a few nights with you."

"Ha! What happened to your job whoring yourself out for the mob? Striker chuckled. "You get into a fight with your boss?"

"Something like that."

Striker happily accepted the money. "You can take my bed. I don't mind sleeping outside for a bit. I usually do. Just don't get in the way of mah job. Ya hear?"

"Can I watch? Please?Or maybe you can let me hold one of your weapons? Please please please." Sugar squealed as her wings fluttered.

Striker sighs. "Some weapons practice would get you out of mah way. So I'll give you some pointers. Think of it as a thank you for getting me the money I'm owed."

"Kay. I'm gonna need some clothes too. I prefer something short and tight. Maybe something with Lucifer's branding on it."

Striker rolled his eyes. "Darlin, you're in the Badlands. Do you know what that means?"

"Yup. That means nobody would look for me here."

"Do ya know why? Because, only imps that are off their rocker would live down here. Every demon down here is mad or will likely turn mad. Ya ain't gonna find any fancy shit around here." Striker laughed. "But, if you wanna play dress up so badly, I got some clothes from my last target. You can put those on if you need some spare clothes."

Sugar smiled and followed Striker to his train car bedroom. She was completely ready to accept her new life as a Wrath Ring demon.
