Everyone else followed at my heels while we ran up the stairs to the roof while more gunshots sounded as we went. I threw the door open and seeing which Dixon it was, my blood boiled with anger and a new wave of adrenaline surged through me as I made my way over to the oldest Dixon brother. "Merle!"
Everyone froze behind me, watching the scene unfold between me and the older redneck. Seeing Merle also meant I would be seeing Daryl at some point. Merle laughed, firing another round. But when he turned to me, his eyes grew wide while I stomped up to him. "Are you serious right now?!" I yelled.
"I would have at least thought you of all would have the common sense to be more polite to a man with a gun, girlie!" He jumped down off the ledge he was on.
"So says the redneck who is up here taking target practice at the very walkers who want to eat us for lunch while more are drawn to the sound of the gunshots. And you tell me to have common sense?"
Merle laughed. "Ya still are the same firecracker as I remember ya when ya were just a kid growin' up on the same street as my baby brother and I."
I snapped back. "And this firecracker is about ready to kick your sorry redneck hide for bringing the walkers down on us." I knocked the rifle out of Merle's hand. He tried grabbing for me but I was faster! Throwing the oldest Dixon head over heels, he hits the roof with his back harshly. He tries to punch at me when I appear above him, but I take his hands and push until his arms are pinned above his head, my hands holding his wrists tightly so he can't move them! He tries to buck his hips and kick me off, but I quickly straddle him, my weight preventing him from doing anything.
"Damn, girlie!" Merle brought out, breathing heavily. I smirk at him and he seductively smirks at me.
"What are you smiling at?"
Merle's seductive smile grows even more. "Oh, nothin' special. Just thought it's a damn shame my baby brother is still swooning over ya. Otherwise I would have a piece of yur ass."
"Daryl is living proof my standards are still intact."
Snickering fills the buzzing atmosphere around the redneck pinned to the rooftop by my hands locked like a vice grip against his hands and my strong thighs and legs straddling his waist in a vice grip to end with my knees bent and locked and will only unlock when I choose to do so.
"Damn woman! Look at you now! Yur a sight for sore eyes; with yur fiery spirit and firecracker wit and attitude." Merle's voice was filled with a very strong seductiveness and the black of his pupils ate up the beautiful Georgian blue of his irises when he said, "ya sure know how to get a man turned on without even trying."
I couldn't hold back the smirk that pulled at my lips. "It's a good thing you're only a test subject for the real man whose heart still calls to mine."
Now the snickers turned into a loud uproar of laughter.
I looked down at the redneck at my mercy. "Do I have your attention now?" I saw excitement fill those Georgian Blue eyes. "Get your mind out of the gutter, Dixon." I hissed. "That's not what I meant and you know it."
Merle laughed. "No. But I can't help but appreciate yur spitfire personality, woman. Plus a man who doesn't like hearin' a woman ask him 'do I have yur attention now?' ain't in their right minds. A man in his right mind dreams for a woman to put him through his paces. We love women like that."
"There is only one man I'm waiting to put through his paces, Dixon. Daryl is the living proof my standards are still in tact. A good woman who feels good about herself has standards."
"Damn, firecracker. Ya sure know how to wound a man's heart."
"Yeah, I'm sure you're very wounded, Dixon, as I have learned, you don't have much of a heart when you're being a complete butthole."
Now the buzzing atmosphere vibrated with the loud up roaring laughter.
"That's a damn shame, woman. Yur a nice piece of ass, if I do say so myself. That would break my baby brother's heart. Although—," Merle grunted when Rick grabbed him and threw him to the ground. Pulling out a pair of cuffs, Rick handcuffed Merle to a pole.
Then he pulled Merle into a sitting position, holding roughly onto his vest. "Who the hell are you, man?"
"Officer Friendly." We all laughed. "As Aria said, Merle, do I have your attention now? You brought the walkers down on us and now we are trapped with no way out. The only thing left in this world is dark meat and white meat. Us and the dead. We survive by pulling together, not apart."
"Screw you, man."
Rick let out a sigh. "I can see you make a habit of missing the point."
"Yeah, well screw you twice."
Rick pulled Merle's pistol and pressed the barrel to Merle's temple. "Ought to be polite to a man with a gun. Only common sense."
"You wouldn't. You're a cop."
Rick handed me the gun. "All I am anymore is a man looking for his wife and son. Anybody that gets in the way of that is gonna lose. I will let you have a moment to think about that." Rick started searching Merle, finding what appeared to be cocaine in his pocket. "Got some on your nose there." He flicked Merle's nose as he stood up.
Merle laughed. "What are ya goin' to do? Arrest me?" Rick handed me the baggie. I took it and held it up to see it definitely was cocaine. "I s'pose it's better to have my baby brother's piece of ass hold my stuff than have it thrown off the roof." A smirk pulled at my mouth and I chucked the baggie off the building. "Aria! That was my stuff!"
"That's a consequence to your actions for bringing the walkers down on us, Dixon. That stuff is bad for you, anyways." I walked over to join the others, who showered me with high fives and back pats for knocking some sense into Merle.
