Marinette was working on homework at the kitchen table. She'd rather be on her bed flipping through a fashion magazine, but Cat had been upstairs snoring when she arrived home. She didn't mind really, as long as he kept his paws out of her yarn basket.
Tikki munched happily away on a cookie. All was quiet and peaceful until…
"Meow!" Marinette's head jerked up turning to the direction of the stairs. "That sounded like Cat!" she looked at her Kwami. "You don't think a akuma got into my room, do you?" "Doubtful, but we should take a look!"
Marinette hurried upstairs. "Cat, Cat, are you alright…" her voice trailed off as she saw Cat sitting on the floor, looking at what looked like cotton fluffs. "I destroyed my mouse!" he wailed, describing the toy Marinette had sewn for him. "Cat, we've been over this! You play with the mouse, you don't destroy!" Cat narrowed his eyes. "Um, hello? I have the power of Destruction? And it was my last mouse, too?" Marinette sighed. "Can we please go to the pet store, Princess?"
Two green eyes stared at her, blinking slowly. "Okay, but we're stopping for a coffee on the way back."
They headed to the pet store, and Cat took her hand as they entered. "Let's find me a new mouse!" Cat's eyes gleamed. "Not so fast! I want to look at the hamsters!" Marinette squealed, and Cat gasped. "Let's go!"
Marinette watched enchanted as a hamster ran on its wheel. Hopping off, it looked curiously at them. "You are so cute," Marinette cooed. "I just want to kiss and squeeze your little cheeks!"
Cat's tail swished with jealously. He wasn't sure he was down for cheek squeezing, but he was always up for kisses! "Would you like to hold him?" A employee asked, and Marinette nodded.
Carefully, she held the fuzzy ball to her cheek. "I'd love you, and feed me, and I would call you Adrien!"
"What?!" Cat spluttered. No way was he having a hamster named after him, no matter how cute it was! "Yeah, he's cute and sweet, and his fur is blonde color, like Adrien's hair!" I don't see Adrien, Cat thought. I see dinner! "Don't you think that would be a little confusing?" Marinette looked puzzled. "Huh?" "Let's say you and Adrien got a hamster together…." he started, and Marinette squealed. "Adrien, hamster, a dream come true!" Cat sighed. "Princess, do you really think he wants a hamster named after him?" Marinette gasped in shock. "You mean I have to call him "Loneliness" after all?!"
"No, no. Maybe…" Cat rubbed his chin. "Maybe after one of your coffee's." Marinette sighed, lowering the animal back into his cage. "It dosen't matter. I'm to busy to have a hamster. Come on, let's get your mouse."
Cat was happy, but he didn't like to know his Princess was sad. "Look at this!" Marinette said, smiling as she picked up a cat shaped toy. "Isn't it an adorable?" Cat grinned. "Would you like me to buy it, Princess?" "Only if you let me buy the mouse."
Once home, and Marinette had her coffee, she dug her cat toy out of the bag. Cat casually grabbed a marker. "So, Princess, you like hamsters?" Marinette nodded. "One day…" "And you also like kitties," he grinned. "Yep."
"But who's your favorite feline of all?" "No," Marinette turned away, suddenly busy with her coffee cup. "Come on, I have a secret." Marinette raised her eyebrows at him over her cup. "Is it about Adrien?"
A wicked grin crossed his face. "Maybe." "Fine." Cat pressed the marker to her forehead. "Look in the mirror," he sang.
"I heart Cat Noir! Cat!" "Oh, look, time to play with my new mouse!" Cat said, scampering upstairs. Marinette groaned. He was her best friend, but right now, this bundle of fluff was a bundle of trouble!
