We all wish for one thing in this world. Whether it's for yourself, or for another. But one thing most of us have in common is… well… loneliness. People wish for someone to cherish, to love, to care about. But many never get the pleasure of having someone who will fight for them and treat them as the only treasure in the world. Maybe, that's what life is all about. You can't bring someone with you after you die. And you certainly can't kill them for your own benefit. What a sin that will be.
If people choose to think that way, wouldn't we all be dead? Our parents, grandparents, siblings, us… This world is dangerous. Who in their right mind would want to stay in this type of place anyway? Just think about it. Women killing their children because 'The world is cruel and unfair?' What would our world be like if negativity didn't even exist in the first place?
What would we fear the most? The pain of death…? Or the pain before death?
Things change constantly without warning. The weather changes every day. We fail each test we get. We grow up into someone better than us. Our hearts shatter at the love we used to have. These thoughts are what fool the world into thinking it's hell. These thoughts… are what make us human.
A car crashes into multiple others. One flips over while the other swerves to the side. People run away screaming. "GET THEM!" Men in suits rush into a building. The people running are thrown to the ground and knocked unconscious.
A man looks out the window from the highest floor. Suddenly, the door to his office slams open. He turns to see a man walking into the room with multiple men behind him. "Well, well, well… it seems like today is my lucky day." The man smirks. "It's been a while… Changbin."
A woman walks into a room further away with a white glowing floor and clear mirror like walls. "Are you ready? People will be here soon." She says. He smiles. "Do not worry, Olivia. I won't ruin anything. It will be as you said before. I will only tell them who I am, what I do, and what I am used for." The woman stands in front of him. "Promise me you won't malfunction in front of everyone." "I promise." He gives her a big smile.
"Changbin, what a pleasure to see you again. How have you been?" Changbin sits in front of him. His men close the door and stand behind him. "I hope you don't mind, but I'm only here to take back what is rightfully mine. After all," Changbin frowns. "You were my top computer science specialist, Bangchan."
Bangchan crosses his arms in front of him and rests them on his desk, obviously having a headache with him. "Such a shame to see you go that day. I almost felt my heart break." Changbin smirks. "Almost." Bangchan leans more closer to Changbin, hoping he will hear what he's about to say. "I don't work for you anymore. You damaged my work, bruised my love for computer science, and injured my mentality for your own pleasure. What kind of boss does that to his people?" he says. Having had enough, Changbin slams his hands against the desk and stands up. "You have no idea what you are saying! I supported you through everything! All your projects, your goals, your reason for living! They all happened because of me! If it weren't for my help, where would you be right now?! Oh, I know, you would be in the streets, scurrying for food like a RAT! A pathetic being begging for a restart!" He tugs on the collar of Bangchan's suit, pulling him closer to his face, speaking in a deep and strong voice. "CyberSpace Lab wouldn't have happened if it weren't for me. All your achievements. All your successes. Your life! Everything is my doing! If you want someone to blame, blame your dead parents!"
Bangchan suddenly throws his fast to Changbin's face, sending him flying to the wall. His men react by attacking Bangchan. He falls to the floor, bleeding from his nose. Changbin slowly stands up. His men hold Bangchan to the floor, pinning him so he can't move. Smirking psychotically, Changbin walks up to him. "You're pathetic." He throws a punch at his face. "Weak." He sends a punch to his stomach. "And above all else…" He punches the back of his head. "An accident." Bangchan goes unconscious, falling face first on the floor.
Red and blue lights appear outside the window, following the sound of sirens. "Sir, the police are here!" A man yelled from outside the room. Changbin chuckles. "Oh, Bangchan… I will get them. I already know where they are. It's only a matter of time before they lay in my eyes. Forever." He spits at Bangchan's face before he and his men walk out of the office, leaving Bangchan on the floor, bleeding from his mouth and nose.
A few hours later, someone runs into the building. "Bangchan! Bangchan! Bangchan, where are you?!" The door opens. Another man runs in and falls to the ground. "Bangchan! Oh my god… What did they do to you?" Bangchan opens his eyes weakly and looks up at him. "Leeknow, you have to get Yong-Bok and everyone else out of here." he spoke weakly.
"Bangchan, what is happening? What should I do? You look horrible." Leeknow was on the verge of tears. The sight of his boss/friend on the ground on the brink of death was a horrifying sight to him. "Who did this to you?" His eyes widened. "Was it…?" "It… doesn't… matter right now. I need you… to get everyone… out of here. And whatever you do… keep them away from Yong-bok." Bangchang smiled at him before passing out.
Leeknow started panicking. "Bangchan? Bangchan?" He couldn't bear this much pain anymore. "Bangchan!" He checks Bangchan's pulse, which is still beating, but at a very slow pace. Almost faintly. Leeknow sighs in relief. "Don't worry… my friend. Yong-Bok and everyone will be just fine. Changbin and his people won't be rewarded for their actions." Leeknow closes his eyes and leans his head against Bangchan's, his tears falling into his cheeks. Soon, two police men enter the room. He looks up at them with teary eyes. "Save him."
In a speeding car 20 miles away, Changbin and his men head towards the center plaza. He yells into his phone, pissed off. "Did you get it? WHAT? THEN GET IT, DAMMIT!" He hangs up the call and throws his phone across the seat. "Stupid bastards. Can never do anything fucking right…" He looks up, his eyes full of anger and hatred. "If you want something done, you have to do it yourself."
He looks at the driver from the rear-view mirror. "Take me to TechLanguage. Now." The driver nods. "Yes, sir." Changbin smiles evilly. "Bangchan, just you wait. I'm so close."
Once there, Changbin makes his way to his office. He pulls out the bottom drawer. He takes out a pack of files containing information of his employees that work within the building. He scans through each file carefully until stopping on one. "There you are. Lisa." Some of the files are placed back in the drawer, except for Lisa's. With this information, he can use his power to manipulate everything to his will. And he knows just how to do it.
Lisa walks into her office and places her coffee on her coaster. She starts her computer and checks her emails. Her eyes spot one from her boss. "Changbin? What does he want this time? I told him I'll have the reports done by the end of this week." She looks at the email and sighs. "He never has the patience."
A few minutes later, Changbin hears a knock coming from his door. "Come in." Lisa enters, looking a little scared. "You wanted me, sir?" Changbin nods. "Yes, I wanted to talk to you about something." He motions to the seat in front of him. "Please, sit." Lisa walks to the chair and sits down, still wondering what she is doing here.
He places the files on his desk for her to see. "I know what you do outside of work, Lisa." His eyes are fierce. Lisa feels intimidated. "You think I wouldn't notice?" She doesn't know what to say. She speaks softly, her voice coming out a little shaky. "I… don't know what you're talking about, sir. I have devoted myself and my heart to my work. W-Why would you think I've found a new passion?" Changbin opens the files to show her pictures of her on stage singing, her face hidden behind a mask. "Really? I beg to differ." Lisa stares at the pictures, horrified.
"But I don't beg. I demand." He puts the files away and leans over the desk to her. "And what I am demanding from you is nothing but your time. All of it." He speaks sweetly yet menacingly. "If you really love this job, I need you to do something for me." Changbin pulls out a packet of pictures containing someone who looks uncanny. "Who… is that?"
Feeling like he hit the jackpot, "That's not a who, but a what. And I need you to get it for me." "But… sir! is that-?" Changbin shows Lisa a picture that displays a pair of clear contact lenses. "Yes, it's him. The one and only AI. He lives within them." He closes the files. "Get them, and you'll keep this job you love so much. You have until the 2nd of May." Two security guards walk up behind Lisa. "Fail, and you're fired!" They grab her and throw her out of the room.
She lands on her butt with a small groan. "Damn Changbin. Always demanding. Whatever, I just need to figure out how to find those contacts and bring them back before he gets impatient. He will never give me until the 2nd of May." She gets up and walks to her office. She opened the drawer from under her desk. "There you are." Inside the drawer lay a notebook full of notes she stole from Changbin's office when he wasn't around that day.
"Where is it? Where is it?" She flips through each page until she stops for a second. "I wonder how he never noticed this book was missing." She shrugs her shoulders. She directs her attention back to the notebook, curious about Changbin's wishes. "I need to know what he wants to do with him. This can't be just for the contact lenses."
Leeknow sits in silence as the ambulance takes them to the hospital. He looks down at Bangchan, holding his hand close to his heart. Bangchan looks up at him weakly. "Leeknow, listen to me. U-Until I get out of the hospital… you are in charge." Leeknow's eyes widened. "But… Bangchan, I don't know a thing about leading this company. I only know how to code and help you when you need me." "Which is exactly why you are now in charge." Leeknow sighs and looks down. "Leeknow, I need you. I need your help. I know you aren't the type to boss people around, but I need you to help me with this. I need you to at least do this for me. As a friend… and a brother."
Sighing, Leeknow smiles and nods. "As a friend… and as a brother, I'll do everything in my power to help you. I will keep the contacts safe. Just for you." He leans down to hug Bangchan. Bangchan reciprocates the hug before passing out from exhaustion.
"I promise… brother… my friend. Changbin will lose this war. CyberSpace Lab won't fall. And we will get the freedom we truly deserved." He leans his forehead against Bangchan's. Despite tears falling down his face, his voice still manages to hold the strength he has. "I'll see to it that you stand before the greatness that you have created, holding all of our hearts. The hearts that bear the scars of the love we all hold for one another. The family you made. You will see our home again."
"Welcome to Cyberspace Lab's first ever launch of our newest project: Yong-bok!" A man barely see through stands up to wave at everyone beyond the glass box. Once everyone has applauded, he sits back down. The CEOs, businessmen, and sponsors stare inside the glass cube which holds them out, making them wonder what this new invention will display. A woman sits in a chair with her fingers intertwined. She looks next to her, her ponytail sliding over her shoulder. Yong-bok looks about the same age as her, dark brown eyes, pink plump lips, legs crossed, and short blonde hair that looks almost silk like, stopping above his shoulders. If they didn't know any better, people would have mistaken him for a girl, that is, if he wasn't wearing the gray suit.
"It's nice to meet you, Yong-bok." The woman says. Yong-bok smiled. "It is nice to meet you too, miss Olivia." Her eyes widened. "You know who I am?" He chuckles. "Of course I do. I know everyone in here. Who knew we had so many companies wishing to invest in me. From LifeCity all the way down to Grand Shrine Entertainment? I'm touched." The crowd stared in astonishment. "Well, Yong-bok. Tell us about yourself. Who are you…? What are you?" He nods. "Of course, Olivia. It'd be my pleasure." He stands up and walks to the glass wall keeping him from getting out. "Hello, everyone. I am Yong-Bok. And I am an AI hologram."
